    What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like for a Bonsai Lover? A Licensed Guide's Report This was day three of a first-time-in-Japan tour in Tokyo for the guests visiting from North America. Some other members of their group had also come to Japan but were spending the day separately. The guests were members of a local bonsai enthusiasts' club and had expressed a wish to see bonsai, so we started at Happo-en, where about twenty potted bonsai are displayed in the garden. The entire facility was closed for renovations and off-limits, but we were fortunately still allowed to view the bonsai placed in the garden. After the Tsukiji Outer Market, we had lunch at a long-established sushi restaurant nearby, where the food was delicious and reasonably priced, leaving the guests very satisfied.

    What Is a Half-Day Private Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from Europe. They were celebrating an academic achievement with a trip to Japan. As the new term was about to begin the following week, and because travel to Japan is very popular in their region, flights and hotels had been difficult to book, which is why their trip ended up being scheduled for this time. As a result, they had arrived in Kyoto from Osaka this morning and would be heading to Tokyo the next morning, so they had only this half-day in Kyoto — quite a packed schedule. I told them that next time I hoped they would come to Kyoto with more time to spare and enjoy it at a more relaxed pace.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hakone Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. As they had expressed in advance a wish to enjoy the nature of Hakone, we walked from Moto-Hakone Port along the old Tokaido road to Hakone Shrine. Along the way I explained the meaning and history of the Hakone Checkpoint, and since they seemed interested in the Edo period, I received many questions. At Hakone Shrine, I explained the background of Shinto and Buddhism and the differences in ways of worship, and they said they were drawn to a sense of mystery not found in their own culture. Because they wished to walk in nature, I took them along the trail from Kowakudani to Chisuji Falls, and they appeared to enjoy the natural surroundings in a quiet, uncrowded setting. They planned to stay in Hakone again tonight, and since they wanted to walk the mountain pass of the old Tokaido road the next day, I explained the route there and ended the tour.

    Title: What Is a Private Full-Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from Asia around Hiroshima and Miyajima. Because Hiroshima was hotter than expected, the guests consulted with me about whether to start the tour at 4:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m., and since many shops would already be closed by 4:00 p.m., we ultimately decided to begin at 8:30 a.m. On Miyajima, the guests were especially interested in the deer, and when they bought some potato chips along the way, many deer quickly gathered and lined up around them, which they thoroughly enjoyed; toward the end of the tour, they even stopped at a greengrocer to buy vegetables to feed the deer. One of the guests was very curious and eagerly asked questions about the war and the atomic bomb, showing interest in deep topics such as whether survivors still hold resentment and whether there could be any health effects on later generations. On Omotesando the guests enjoyed shopping and expressed a wish to have oyster dishes for lunch, so we parted ways at Omotesando.

    Osaka Private Tour with Young Children: A Licensed Guide's Report on Kuromon Market, Dotonbori, and Shitennoji The guests were a group from Asia together with a nanny, the same group as the previous day. Because they were having breakfast, we started slightly later than planned. As on the previous day, the guests did not seem particularly interested in each spot; rather, their attention was focused on caring for the young ones, and unfortunately I did not feel that my explanations were being listened to very attentively. At each spot we moved through somewhat quickly, passing by rather than lingering. At Kuromon Market they enjoyed "takoyaki" and "sweet potato chips," and at Dotonbori they had the soft-serve ice cream made popular by a performer. At Dotonbori they mentioned they would board the "Dotonbori Cruise," which was not part of the itinerary, so after guiding them to the boarding area we parted ways a little early. I presented handmade drawstring pouches to two of the guests, which were well received. Note 1) What I felt this time was that an itinerary accompanied by very young children is quite difficult to manage. At today's Shitennoji as well, it was necessary to refrain from using a stroller inside the buildings, and there were various restrictions. More than that, under the blazing sun on both yesterday and today, my greatest concern was the health of the young ones. Even at a glance, they did seem a little tired. Note 2) This time the guests likely used a taxi from a company arranged within their home region. Due to the passenger capacity, the guide had to use a separate taxi. Based on what the guide had confirmed in advance with the local agency, the driver was supposed to be a professional local driver holding a proper license. However, in reality the driver was clearly not a local driver, spoke both Japanese and English very haltingly, and did not seem to be well acquainted with the locations of each spot. According to the driver of the taxi the guide used, although the license plate was "green," it was almost certainly an unlicensed taxi in reality. Also, during the tour, confirming the reassembly location and time with the guests at each spot should originally be within the driver's responsibilities, in my personal opinion. As the guide, I handled it with the intention of providing "service to the guests," but honestly I felt some doubt about whether that was appropriate.

    I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
    and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like on a Hot Summer Day? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a very hot day, so I had the guests use the parasols I had prepared, and we proceeded while taking breaks along the way. The stretch from Chinzanso to Edogawabashi Station was especially hot, and I regretted not taking a taxi. In Asakusa, the guests took many photos and enjoyed shopping, so we proceeded at a relaxed pace. The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace were also hot, so we took frequent breaks and I gave explanations about the castle keep in cooler spots. At Meiji Shrine we were finally able to catch our breath, but the JR station was still hot, and I felt that on hot days the subway is definitely the way to go (I deliberately used the subway all the way from the hotel to Asakusa, but from Harajuku to Mejiro there is only JR). At Mejiro Station, before heading to the hotel, the guests did some shopping at a convenience store, and I asked a taxi driver to take them to the hotel, ending the tour. I received a tip.

    Hello everyone, I am Saori Nishida.
    I was born in Hokkaido, but risen up in Tokyo, and live in Ehime prefecture.
    I met my husband in Australia. Our honeymoon was traveling around Japan by hitchhiking, It can be said that I am a natural born traveler like you.

    Uwajima city where I live is famous for Japan’s top produce and shipping volume of citrus and pearl. And we are also proud of the quality and quantity of fish farming in our city.
    There is one of the 12 existing castle towers. Those castle towers are originally constructed more than 400 years ago. Our city is located on the route of pilgrimage to visit 88 temples on Shikoku island where our prefecture is.

    I run a guesthouse with my family : we have small daughters. I think I can pass on the happiness of doing what I like to my children and the younger generation in the community.

    My favorite things are sake brewery, temples and shrines, art museum, castles, water activities, and karaoke. I am sure I will get along with one of you.
    I always drink coffee in the morning and beer at night. This is how I stay healthy.

    My first tour was in 2023. Since then, I have been guiding approximately 300 guests each year on average, spending around 90 days annually taking them to various places across Shikoku as well as to Okayama, Hiroshima, Wakayama, Kyoto, Kyushu, and other regions.

    Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa The guests were visitors currently staying in Japan, planning to travel around Tokyo and Kyoto during their free time. In addition to the Imperial Palace, Shibuya Crossing, and Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, which they had requested in advance, we added the Tsukiji Outer Market and Meiji Shrine to the tour. First, we walked to the Tsukiji Outer Market, where the guests enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the seafood market. They said the matcha ice cream they tried along the way was absolutely delicious. Next, we visited Namiyoke Shrine and Tsukiji Honganji Temple one after another, and I explained the differences between shrines and temples along with the distinction between Shinto and Buddhism. The guests were very pleased to gain knowledge they had not known before. Perhaps because of this, at Meiji Shrine they purchased a traffic safety charm and said they would keep it carefully with them. Finally, we headed to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, where they enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the "yakitori" they had wished to try, clearly savoring the atmosphere unique to Tokyo. Since the guests mentioned they wanted to visit a good steakhouse during their stay in Tokyo, I introduced a suitable restaurant near the Hotel, and we finished the tour at Higashi-Ginza Station, the nearest station to the Hotel.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour by Car Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, with some coming from Europe and some from Oceania. It was another hot day, so I was glad we had a private vehicle. Perhaps because they had visited Kiyomizu-dera the day before, everyone seemed tired starting around Kinkaku-ji. At the bamboo grove in Arashiyama, some of the guests stopped before the slope and waited for the others to return. After a short break, we went to Nijo Castle, but because of the heat, we only toured the Ninomaru. Since we were traveling by microbus, we had to walk from a drop-off point some distance away at Fushimi Inari, which took some time, but thanks to everyone's cooperation, the tour went more smoothly than expected.
