What Is a Private Walking Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
I was the guide for the final day of the group's tour of Japan, so I focused on topics specific to Nikko and its local area, and the conversation never ran out until the very end. Unfortunately, it was during Nikko's autumn three-day weekend, so the roads from the station were congested and buses could not be used. When I explained that today would have to be entirely on foot, the guests said walking was no problem at all, so it became a walking tour. Since their return train was after 6:00 p.m., they agreed that we would stay at the sights until the last possible moment before parting ways.
Everyone walked quickly and we made faster progress than planned, so we were also able to visit Taiyuin, which had not originally been included, and we covered nearly the entire World Heritage area.
For our meal, we went to "Suiran" on the West Approach, which is relatively easy to get into even during the holiday weekend. From the group, one ordered katsu curry and another ordered yuba soba, and everyone enjoyed the meal, finishing it all and saying it was delicious.
At Toshogu Shrine, our final stop, the guests said it was the most beautiful and gorgeous building they had seen on their entire tour of Japan.
Almost exactly as planned, we finally parted ways in front of Shinkyo Bridge.
I believe the guests were very pleased and felt it was a wonderful tour.

Hello, I’m your guide Yasu.
I’m very happy to be able to help you experience Japanese culture, traditions, tourist attractions, and Japanese food.
I have guided tours of Tokyo’s sightseeing spot such as Asakusa, The Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine.
I have also guided tours in the surrounding areas of Nikko and Hakone to experience Japanese nature and culture.
I also specialize in food tours in the Tsukiji and Ueno areas of Tokyo.
As for my background, I worked at a major Japanese department store for many years, and from that experience I have knowledge of Japanese art, paintings, and crafts.
In addition, in my free time, my hobby is visiting resorts with my family that are not tourist spots, and I am able to introduce such hidden resorts even to customers who have stayed in Japan multiple times.
I would be happy to share my experiences with you and help you have a meaningful travel experience.
Let’s go exploring the real Japan together.
Kind Regards,
Yasu Komatsu

A Day in Tokyo
Yasu was a fantastic tour guide for our family. We only had one day to see the highlights of Tokyo and he very much accommodated our preferences and requests. He was able to efficiently navigate us through the various train stations so we could pack everything into our day! He was also very thoughtful and kind to my children. Highly recommend!

Booking was easy. Yasu contact me before and we talked about our options for the trip. On our day we were 1 hour to early because of a mistake on our side, but Yasu was so kind to pick us up earlier than the booked time. Weather was perfect. Our day with Yasu was so wonderful. He told us much about Nikko and the Shrines. We were lucky to see an procession. Had lunch at a really good local restaurant. He helped us booking our train ticket back. We all had fun and really enjoyed the day with Yasu. Thank you again for your guiding! Information about us: we are 2 couples, age 35-38.
