    • 15:51 Arrive at Sannomiya Station 16:00 The guests went shopping around Sannomiya Station. The tour ended here. They returned to the cruise on their own.

Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like for a Cruise Group? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from South America, arriving by cruise ship. On this day the tour was for a group of guests. They tended to move around separately in smaller subgroups, so it took some effort to gather everyone together for explanations. Everyone chatted freely and talked a lot, even while I was giving explanations. I often had to be careful to keep the group from spreading out too far, so that those at the front and those at the back would not be too far apart. However, everyone understood that the schedule was tight (arriving at port at 8:00 and departing at 17:30), and they were very cooperative — buying sandwiches at a station kiosk and eating standing up for lunch, which was a great help. They also had transportation IC passes, so we were able to pass through the ticket gates smoothly. As a result, we had some extra time to spare, and after arriving in Sannomiya they went shopping. For JR transportation fares exceeding 1,000 yen, I submitted the ICOCA usage history in place of receipts. After visiting Kinkaku-ji, we split into taxis to reach JR Enmachi Station (paid by the guests). The photo was taken at Fushimi Inari.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

    Tokyo: Tsukiji Outer Market

    Tour Itinerary

    • 5:00 Meet at the hotel, take a taxi to Toyosu Market
    • 5:30 Watch the tuna auction at Toyosu Market
    • 6:30 Breakfast at a sushi restaurant inside Toyosu Market
    • 7:20 Stroll through Tsukiji Outer Market
    • 8:00 Tour ends at Tsukiji Outer Market

Title: What Is a Private Tsukiji Fish Market and Tuna Auction Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, and they watched the tuna auction with great interest. Unfortunately, right after the Obon holiday period, only about 60% of the usual number of tuna were on offer, so the auction felt quieter than usual. At a sushi restaurant inside the market, the guests enjoyed sushi ordered to their liking, and both of them named chu-toro (medium fatty tuna) and marinated tuna as the most delicious pieces. One of the guests tried sea urchin for the first time and was amazed, saying it "smells like the sea." At the Tsukiji Outer Market, also because it was right after the Obon holiday, about 40% of the shops were closed, so it was a shame that some of the places I had wanted to introduce were shut. Even so, the guests enjoyed sugar-coated candied strawberries and Shine Muscat grapes from a produce shop, and were impressed by how delicious Japanese strawberries and grapes are. In particular, they said the Shine Muscat had a deliciousness not found in the grapes back in their home region. Since one of the guests is involved in work related to cooking, they were interested in Japanese kitchen knives, and at a knife shop they learned how to sharpen a knife and purchased a whetstone. Because it was right after the Obon holiday, I had expected the market to be less crowded, but the volume of tuna handled was lower coming off the break, and some Tsukiji shops that had been open during the busy Obon period were closed the following week. I will keep this in mind when guiding this tour in the future.

    # What Is a Private Kamakura Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a very rewarding and enjoyable tour. The guests were visiting from North America. Before the tour, I had learned through email that one of the guests was interested in "The Tale of the Heike," so I prepared in particular to be able to talk about the period around the founding of the Kamakura Shogunate. I had planned to guide the group through the Hase area first and then take them to the area around Kamakura Station in the latter half, but the group responded very positively right from the first stop at Hasedera Temple. Since we had some room in the schedule, I took a little extra time to explain things carefully. As the guests did not stop for a meal during the tour, I decided to include a break at a café before heading to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. There, too, we had a lively conversation about history. I feel a little apologetic in case this may have been somewhat boring for some of the guests. By the time we returned from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, it was just the right time, and we parted ways in front of Kamakura Station.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

A Licensed Guide's Report Although I also try to contact guests via a messaging app, I was worried because I could not reach them until the day itself, but today we met at the hotel without any problem. The registered phone number appeared to be completely incorrect, so please update the contact information if necessary. The guests came from North America and often travel together. They seem to have visited Japan several times, but it was their first time in Kanazawa, and they mentioned that tomorrow they would be staying at a ryokan in Kaga Onsen. Recently, it seems that more guests are staying in Kanazawa and then going on to stay at the hot springs of the Kaga Onsen area. Even in the intense heat, the guests enjoyed the tour itself.

What Is a Private Kyoto Family Tour Like With a Government-Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Asia, traveling with a nanny and using a stroller, though we were able to move around smoothly. On this occasion, the destinations had been chosen in advance by one of the guests, and it seemed that the others were not very familiar with the details and did not appear especially interested in each spot. One of the group did not seem to be feeling well, possibly due to the heat, and appeared to be pushing themselves a little, which was slightly concerning. We visited the planned spots at a fairly quick pace. As the guests wanted to have lunch, the tour ended a little earlier than scheduled. I am also scheduled to guide the same guests on a 4-hour Osaka tour tomorrow. Note) On this occasion, the guests had arranged a private vehicle themselves, but as a guide I sensed the possibility that an unlicensed taxi ("white taxi") was being used. I reported this matter to [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), and they clearly explained and communicated with the guests about the guest-arranged vehicle. In particular, on this occasion the private vehicle was full with the guests, so I needed to use a separate vehicle (a taxi). I confirmed the details of the vehicle and driver several times. Although I had been told through the local agency that the driver was a properly licensed professional Japanese driver, I suspect that in reality the driver was not, and their knowledge of local geography and Japanese conversation seemed still insufficient. The vehicle's license plate was "green," but according to the taxi driver I used, it was in fact an unlicensed "white taxi."

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.

What Is a Private Osaka Tour Like for Family Guests? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group who had arrived from Oceania and reached Tokyo the day before. After a long journey and facing the opposite season with extreme heat, the group seemed quite tired, and I was concerned about heatstroke. For this reason, I set a very slow pace, taking rest breaks as we made our way to Osaka Castle. Inside Osaka Castle the air conditioning was working well, so the guests regained a little energy, and we were able to take our time looking around all the floors. Afterwards, we had planned to visit the Umeda Sky Building, but by the time we reached Grand Front Osaka it was already midday, and since the guests expressed a wish to have lunch, we concluded the tour here.

What Is a Private Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Japan for the first time from Oceania. Since the seasons are reversed there, they were surprised by the midsummer heat, but they took part cheerfully and with big smiles. Along the way, we talked about global warming and wildfires, sharing our thoughts about the environment. At Itsukushima Shrine, they tried drawing omikuji fortunes for the first time, and by coincidence both drew "kyo" (bad luck). When I explained that this is a message from the gods urging caution, they felt reassured, and together they happily tied the slips to the rack while praying for good fortune.

On the day of the tour, some of the guests were pursuing a separate activity, attempting to climb Mount Fuji. At Miyajima, the tide was out, so it was possible to walk close to the torii gate, and the guests were able to touch the torii directly, appearing very satisfied with the scenery. After visiting Itsukushima Shrine and being taken to Daisho-in Temple, the guests enjoyed matcha at a cafe with a lovely view, and purchased Miyajima woodcraft products along the main approach. What Can You Do on a Private Kanazawa Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who had already explored Kanazawa on their own, spending a half day and a full day sightseeing before this tour. On this third day, at the guests' request, we revisited Omicho Market and the Higashi Chaya District, toured the Ninja Temple, and enjoyed a Japanese sweets (wagashi) making experience at the Ishikawa Prefectural Products Exhibition Hall. One of the guests especially enjoys hands-on experiences, so following a gold leaf experience the previous day, the wagashi making experience today was a great hit. Another of the guests enjoyed the historical explanations and the tour of the Ninja Temple. Since arriving in Japan, one of the guests had become a fan of Japanese fried chicken (karaage), so we bought some karaage at Omicho Market. At the start of the tour, while enjoying two plates of sushi at a sushi restaurant, the guests also had the karaage. After the tour, I recommended a popular karaage shop seasoned with Ono soy sauce, located on the teahouse street just outside Kenrokuen Garden, for the guests to have lunch, and the tour came to an end.

What Is a Private Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Europe. I took them to Miyajima, where the tide was high at the time, offering the scenic view of the Great Torii gate appearing to float on the sea. The group seemed to really enjoy Miyajima, and their stay there ended up being longer than planned. The day was clear and the temperature was high, but the guests stayed well hydrated and enjoyed sightseeing without any issues. We also had a lively conversation about cricket and soccer. For lunch, instead of going to a restaurant, everyone chose their favorites from the food stalls, and each of them was satisfied.

Hi! My name is Kazuhisa To. After completing graduate school, I moved to Hiroshima—and have now lived here for over 42 years. I earned a Ph.D. through a national university’s professional program while working at Mazda Motor Corporation. Five years before retiring from the company, I was seconded to Hiroshima University, a national university, where I served as a specially appointed professor. In addition to my domestic career, I spent a total of about five and a half years living and working abroad. These international experiences have given me valuable cross-cultural understanding and the ability to connect comfortably with guests from around the world. Currently, as a Hiroshima Prefectural Government Licensed Guide Interpreter, I introduce visitors not only to famous attractions such as Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima, but also to the local lifestyle, culture, and culinary delights, tailored to your interests. I hope to provide each guest with a memorable experience that stays in your heart.
I look forward to meeting you here in Hiroshima!
