According to our prior arrangement, they were to decide on the day whether or not to walk from Magome to Tsumago, and despite the rain, they chose to make the walk. Since it seemed there would be plenty of time before the return bus from Tsumago, we took our time, enjoying chestnut kinton sweets and tea at Kawakamiya in Magome and browsing the souvenir shops. However, the pace of the walk turned out to be slower than expected, and by the time we reached Tsumago there was no longer any time to spare, so we quickly ate sansai soba for lunch and headed to the bus stop. Even though the walking pace was very slow, we walked at a relaxed speed without rushing. Since one of the guests followed a plant-based diet, I asked the soba restaurant to prepare a sauce made only with soy sauce. The plant-based sansai soba was finished without anything left over, so I believe the meal was enjoyed. A notable stop on the tour was the Magome-Tsumago trail in the Kiso Valley. This historic route was once part of the Nakasendo, one of the main roads connecting Edo (present-day Tokyo) and Kyoto during the Edo period. The post towns of Magome and Tsumago have been beautifully preserved, with traditional wooden buildings lining their streets, offering visitors a glimpse of what travel was like centuries ago. The walking trail between the two towns winds through forests, past waterfalls, and over gentle hills, making it one of the most popular historic hiking routes in Japan.

    A Private Kyoto Day Tour by Bullet Train and Taxi: A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came to Japan from North America. At the start of the morning we decided to use the bullet train, and the guests had reserved reserved seats using the internet aboard a cruise ship. However, the internet connection at Shin-Kobe Station was poor and only one person's reservation could be displayed on the screen, so the procedures took time both when entering at Shin-Kobe Station and when exiting at Kyoto Station. We spent more than 20 minutes just getting through at Kyoto Station. I was worried about how things would go from there, but both guests walked steadily, so we did not fall very far behind. The forecast had called for rain in the afternoon, but it never rained through to the end of the tour. I took a photo at the Yasaka Pagoda in Higashiyama. For getting around the city, we used a taxi from Gion to Nijo Castle, and from the Kinkaku-ji area to the Kitaoji Bus Terminal. A notable stop on the tour was Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion. Kinkaku-ji is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf, making it one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Originally built as a retirement villa for a shogun in the late 14th century, it was later converted into a temple and is set beside a reflecting pond that mirrors the gilded structure, creating a famous and picturesque scene throughout the seasons.

The shop was filled with many appealing pieces of tableware, and although it was quite a difficult choice, they finally found a favorite plate and appeared very satisfied. Along the way, we had lively conversations about work and culture. We discussed differences in attitudes toward work seen between Japanese and overseas companies, communication styles in meetings, and how consensus is reached within an organization, and I was able to hear many interesting stories. We talked about how each side's cultural background influences the way work is carried out, making it a meaningful day that deepened understanding not only of sightseeing in Tokyo but also of business culture.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Shibuya Sky, and Meiji Shrine The guests were visitors from North America. This tour took place on the morning of their first day in Japan. I arranged the tour schedule to match their advance request to enjoy Asakusa and Shibuya Sky. Since their hotel was next to Zojoji Temple and connected to the main gate of the former Taitokuin Mausoleum of Zojoji, we passed through that gate and entered the temple grounds through the Kuromon Gate, where they could see the main hall and Tokyo Tower standing side by side. They were delighted by the contrast between the Japanese-style main hall and the modern Tokyo Tower, which resembles the Eiffel Tower. In Asakusa, when I shared some behind-the-scenes stories about the design of the Asahi Breweries headquarters building along the Sumida River and the golden monument beside it, they were delighted and said it was "really interesting." Senso-ji Temple was crowded and they seemed a little tired, but they took many photos, saying that Nakamise-dori Street and the Kaminarimon Gate were beautiful. In Shibuya, we first viewed the scramble crossing from a slightly elevated position. Seeing so many people crossing, they were worried, wondering "Will we be able to cross?" But after actually walking across, they were impressed, saying, "We crossed safely and surprisingly quickly." The day was perfectly clear, so the view from the open-air observation deck "Shibuya Sky" was wonderful, and the guests were very satisfied, saying, "A 360-degree open-air observation deck on top of a skyscraper is amazing." Looking out over the vast Kanto Plain, they seemed astonished at how buildings filled such a wide area without any gaps. At Meiji Shrine, they appreciated the quiet and solemn approach path. They remarked that it was wonderful to have such a space in the middle of the city. At the guests' request, we returned to Shibuya (probably for shopping), and I showed them where the taxi stand was before ending the tour.

Since they wished to explore the Ueno area near their hotel, we started at Ueno Park. After I gave an overview of Japanese history, the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, and the history of Ueno, we passed through the torii gate of Toshogu Shrine, walked along the approach while I talked about Tokugawa Ieyasu and the feudal lords, and offered our prayers. Next, we visited the Great Buddha of Ueno and Kiyomizu Kannon-do, then strolled through Ameyoko before taking the subway to Asakusa. In Asakusa, I explained the surrounding buildings at the cultural tourism center, and as we walked through Kaminarimon and Nakamise, the guests enjoyed tasting kinako dango and trying omikuji fortune drawing. After praying at the main hall, we had lunch at a Japanese restaurant. We traveled by subway to Meiji Jingu, where I explained the origins of the shrine in front of the south gate before walking the approach with explanations along the way. The guests seemed deeply moved by the sacred forest in the middle of the city. After praying at the main shrine, we went to Takeshita Street, where they were surprised by the animal cafes and unique shops and seemed to enjoy the walk. Finally, we took the train to Shibuya Station, took photos in front of the Hachiko statue and at the scramble crossing, and ended the tour.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. During the tour, they asked me many questions about Kanazawa and about Japan in general. They kept asking questions even while it was raining, so at one point we stopped at a rest area in the Higashi Chaya District to go over the answers, but I believe they fully enjoyed the city of Kanazawa as well. They also shared a great deal with me about an old town in North America. They had just arrived in Japan and still seemed to have some jet lag, but they joined the tour energetically, saying that waking up early for this tour was perfect for adjusting to the time difference. Before the auction began, I explained how the auction proceeds, how prices are determined, and what fishermen pay attention to when using the longline fishing method. The guests then asked more detailed questions, and we had a lively conversation before the auction started. They were amazed to see the auction move at a pace of less than five seconds per fish, and when around 40 tuna were bid on in no time, they were even more astonished, saying it was "unbelievable." At the sushi restaurant after the auction, they enjoyed a tuna-focused meal, and the guests happily told me that the medium fatty tuna, seared fatty tuna, and medium fatty tuna were the most delicious. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, the guests requested to try eel and fresh oysters, so I introduced recommended shops for each, and they were very satisfied. Since it was their first time in Japan, they wished to see both historical and modern sides of the city. At Meiji Shrine, preparations for the chrysanthemum festival were underway, and a few chrysanthemum displays were already on view. Afterward, we looked at the animal cafes along Takeshita Street, and the guests were surprised by the pig cafe. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is one of the city's most visited landmarks. Visitors approach the main hall through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) and walk along Nakamise-dori, a lively shopping street lined with stalls selling traditional snacks and souvenirs. The area blends centuries of history with the bustling energy of modern Tokyo, making it a popular destination for travelers seeking a taste of old Japan.
