    Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour from Shibuya: Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and Asakusa — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They are long-time friends who have known each other since their student days and get along very well. We walked to Meiji Shrine, where the grounds were busier than expected due to many groups of visitors. They were interested in the atmosphere of the forest and the sight of workers sweeping up fallen leaves. Next, we proceeded from the Sakuradamon Gate to the Outer Garden of the Imperial Palace. After taking commemorative photos at the Nijubashi Bridge, we continued on to the Stone Bridge, where we were fortunate enough to witness the changing of the guards, which delighted the guests. Before heading to Asakusa, we stopped by Nihonbashi to see the townscape and the Road Origin Marker. When I mentioned the plan to move the metropolitan expressway underground, they said a similar plan existed in their home region as well. At Asakusa, everyone drew a "good fortune" slip, which was a relief. After visiting the main hall, we also stopped by Asakusa Shrine, where I explained about religion. The guests were full of curiosity, listened attentively, and asked many questions, making it a truly rewarding day as a guide. Since the Hotel was within walking distance of Shibuya Station, we ended the tour after sharing the story of the loyal dog at the Hachiko Plaza. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, completed in 1920. It is surrounded by a vast man-made forest of over 100,000 trees donated from across Japan, creating a tranquil green oasis in the heart of Tokyo. Visitors often pass through its large wooden torii gates and may witness traditional Shinto weddings and seasonal ceremonies held within the grounds.

    What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, and Kyoto Imperial Palace The guests were a group from Europe, and they were very kind and friendly. During our communication beforehand, I noticed that Ryoan-ji Temple and the Kyoto Imperial Palace were among the places they wished to visit, so I made a point of including many anecdotes about Queen Elizabeth. They were very pleased, which made me happy. I was also able to talk about the connection between the British Royal Family and the Japanese Imperial Family. The weather was lovely, if a little hot, and they were delighted to have taken wonderful photos at Kinkaku-ji. At Ryoan-ji, they were able to view the rock garden from the very spot where Queen Elizabeth once sat. We traveled to the Kyoto Imperial Palace Gardens by taxi and had lunch at the Nakadachiuri rest area. It was quite crowded, but we were able to eat on the terrace seats. Both of them ordered the Japanese black wagyu beef curry, and they finished every bite, saying it was delicious. At the Kyoto Imperial Palace, because preparations for re-thatching the Shishinden had begun on the 15th, the viewing route had been changed and we were unable to see the Seiryoden, but they toured with great interest. After the tour, they wanted to do some shopping, so I guided them to Nishiki Market and Daimaru, and the tour came to an end.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Ueno and Asakusa Like? A Tokyo Guide's Report We met at the hotel on time. In Ueno, I explained the history of Ueno Park, and the guests were impressed. They admired the origins of the National Museum of Western Art, the story of overcoming adversity, and the whale at the National Museum of Nature and Science, and enjoyed taking photos of the Tokyo National Museum, the Sogakudo Concert Hall, the Ueno Toshogu Shrine, the five-story pagoda, and more. In Asakusa, after enjoying the view from Azuma Bridge, we had lunch at a local tempura restaurant there. The guests were slightly surprised to find white fish included, but said it was delicious and finished everything. Along Nakamise Street and elsewhere, they went into several shops looking for a souvenir for themselves (they had a specific item in mind), but could not find it. In the end, they finally found exactly the souvenir they had been picturing at a gift shop at Meiji Shrine, and were very satisfied, saying it was perfect. We had planned to part ways at Meiji-jingumae Station, but the guests did not feel confident about taking the subway back to Nishi-Shinjuku on their own (even though I had prepared written subway instructions). So, although it ran slightly over time, I accompanied them to Nishi-Shinjuku Station, and once we came up to street level and they could see the direction of their hotel, they seemed reassured, and we parted ways there.

    What's a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. From the moment we met, they were very warm and we quickly became comfortable with each other, making it a very enjoyable tour. They told me that Hiroshima had not originally been part of their plans, but they became very interested in its history and, especially given the current state of world affairs, felt it was important to visit, so they added it to their itinerary. Having heard that the museum gets very crowded, they requested to start 30 minutes earlier, and thanks to starting early we were able to tour while avoiding the crowds. That day was so busy that tickets sold out, so I was truly glad we were able to view everything at a relaxed pace. Since one of the guests had back pain and needed occasional rest, we proceeded with the tour while taking seated breaks as needed. They also loved photography and took many pictures, telling me that they always make a photo book of their travels so they can look at it when they gather with friends. At the Peace Park, they were astonished by how overwhelming it was, far beyond what they had imagined. They listened intently and asked many questions. It was striking how they repeatedly said that something like this must never happen again. When we folded paper cranes together, they were surprised at how much more difficult it was than expected, and when I gave them an illustrated guide on how to make them, they were delighted and said they would make them together with their colleagues. At Miyajima, they first enjoyed oysters and shopping along the shopping street and were very pleased. At Daisho-in Temple, they said that although they had visited many temples since coming to Japan, this one was the most meaningful and their favorite because they could take part in hands-on experiences. We visited Itsukushima Shrine in accordance with the tide, and they were delighted, saying its beauty far exceeded their imagination and was wonderful. At the end of the tour, they thanked me warmly and repeatedly, saying it felt like being with old friends, that it was so much fun, that it was the best trip, and that they were truly glad they had come to Hiroshima. It was a true honor to serve as their guide.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Hamarikyu, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa The weather was fine and the tour proceeded smoothly. The guests had already visited Osaka and Kyoto, and since they already had Mobile Suica, the itinerary went smoothly. At first I mistakenly went to the wrong Hotel and arrived there, but I realized that another Hotel had opened in the Ariake area, which made the arrival time exactly noon and left me a bit anxious. At Hamarikyu there were questions about birds. I could not answer whether the white egrets were one species or two, but I was forgiven. At Meiji Shrine there was a group celebrating Shichi-Go-San, which drew their interest. They did not take many photos, and apart from stopping at a convenience store partway to buy food and drinks, we kept moving along quickly, so we were ahead of schedule. In addition, there was a report of some back discomfort partway through, so I finished Asakusa early and tried to take them back to the Hotel, but they said they wanted to rest here and eat eel, so they requested to end the tour, and although it was early, the tour concluded. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in a large forested area in central Tokyo, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Surrounded by a tranquil forest of some 100,000 trees donated from across Japan, it offers a peaceful contrast to the surrounding city and is one of Tokyo's most visited shrines, especially during traditional celebrations such as Shichi-Go-San, when families bring children in formal attire to pray for their healthy growth.

    What's a Private Walking Tour of Takayama's Old Town Like? A Licensed Guide's Report After finishing at the Miyagawa Morning Market, it looked like we would have some extra time, so I suggested adding the Kusakabe Folk Museum and the Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall, which were not in the original plan. The guests wished to visit both, so we went inside. After that, the guests wanted lunch, so I introduced a nearby restaurant called Kyoya. Along the Sanmachi-suji old streets that followed, in addition to the Onoya Brewery that had been planned from the start, I also recommended the Harada Sake Brewery, which the guests agreed to enter. Including the Takayama Jinya that came next, the guests were very pleased. When asked about dinner afterward, I recommended Konaru Yokocho near Matsuki Ushiya. A notable stop on the tour was the Takayama Jinya. The Takayama Jinya is a historic government house that served as the administrative office during the Edo period, when the region was placed under the direct control of the Tokugawa shogunate. It is the only remaining building of its kind in Japan, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the governance, tax collection, and daily administration of the era. The preserved rooms, courtrooms, and rice storehouses make it one of the most significant cultural sites in the Takayama area.

    What Does a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They had arrived in Tokyo the previous night and mentioned feeling a little tired. Even so, their main goal this time was to explore Tokyo on foot, and blessed with good weather, they walked around actively. I first guided them to the observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. In case it was crowded, I had prepared an alternative on the 32nd floor of the building, but we were able to go up to the observation deck without waiting. Since I used to work at the Metropolitan Government, I explained details about Tokyo. After that, we walked along Takeshita Street and visited Meiji Shrine. Some of the guests asked quite detailed questions. We had lunch at a ramen shop I am on good terms with. Afterward, we moved to Shibuya and I guided them around the scramble crossing and the Hachiko statue. They were very satisfied. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Set within a vast forested area in the heart of Tokyo, the shrine was completed in 1920 and is one of the city's most popular spiritual sites. Visitors pass through large torii gates and tree-lined paths before reaching the main sanctuary, offering a peaceful contrast to the surrounding urban landscape.

    What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day 2 Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Ginza, and Zojoji The guests were visitors from North America. The day before, they had joined another tour by car. As this was their second day in Tokyo and they felt they had seen enough shrines and temples, we first went to the Tsukiji Outer Market. Since the market was crowded and one of the guests did not have very good eyesight, I was a little concerned, but they found it very enjoyable as it was their first time visiting such a place. After that, we went to the Art Aquarium Museum. It was not too crowded, and we enjoyed the beautiful goldfish displays. They mentioned that they used to keep goldfish in a large tank at their previous home. Then, as they wished to visit Uniqlo Ginza, we went there and browsed jackets and other items. We visited Zojoji Temple and viewed Tokyo Tower from there. The guests seemed quite tired and wanted to return to the hotel, so although it was a bit early, we headed back to the hotel and ended the tour. Having visited many places the day before may have left them tired. I was glad we were able to complete the tour without any trouble. A notable stop on the tour was Zojoji Temple. Zojoji is a major Buddhist temple located near Tokyo Tower in the Shiba district of Tokyo. It has long served as an important temple and is well known for its striking contrast between its traditional architecture and the modern Tokyo Tower rising behind it, making it a popular spot for photographs and sightseeing.

    What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like for Guests with Limited Mobility? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Japan from North America. All transportation was by taxi, as some of the group had difficulty walking. At the sightseeing spots they did their best to walk, but slopes and stairs took quite a lot of time. For this reason, at the bamboo grove in Arashiyama and at Okochi Sanso Villa, some of the guests climbed very slowly with the help of others in the group and myself. After lunch, we had planned to visit Jojakko-ji Temple, but realizing it had many stairs, some of the guests wished to return to the Hotel at this point, and afterward the remaining guests went on to Jojakko-ji Temple. Since movement at Jojakko-ji Temple is entirely by stairs, this was a wise decision. Fortunately the weather held; although the forecast had predicted rain from around midday, we did not encounter any rain until the end. We were lucky. The photo was taken at Ryoan-ji Temple. A notable stop on the tour was Ryoan-ji Temple. Ryoan-ji is a Zen temple in Kyoto, famous for its rock garden, considered one of the finest surviving examples of a karesansui, or dry landscape garden. The garden consists of fifteen stones arranged in a bed of white gravel, positioned so that not all of the stones can be seen at once from any single viewpoint. Originally an aristocrat's estate, the site was converted into a Zen temple in the 15th century, and it is now registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As it was their first time in Japan, they had planned various experiences such as a tea ceremony. Since they were going to Asakusa and Tsukiji the following day, we covered Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku in four hours. Because it was an auspicious day on the Japanese calendar, they were delighted to be able to see a traditional shrine visit for newborns and a Shichi-Go-San ceremony at Meiji Shrine. Afterwards, we had lunch at a restaurant, and the rolled sushi was very popular with the group. We walked around Takeshita Street, looking at a pig cafe and a capybara cafe, and also stopped by a vintage shop. Since there were many shops that appealed to the group, I suggested that they come back again on their own, and we said goodbye. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the heart of Tokyo, dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Surrounded by a tranquil forest of over 100,000 trees donated from across Japan, it offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city.
