    What Does a Private First-Day Tokyo Tour Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Covering Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine The guests came from North America. From our email exchanges beforehand, they responded quickly and gave a great impression, and when I actually met them, they turned out to be very lovely people. It was their first time in Japan and the first day of their tour. As requested in advance by email, they had downloaded Mobile Suica, and we used it during the tour while I explained how it worked. I guided them through Tsukiji, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and we parted ways in Shibuya. At Tsukiji they had tuna sushi and were moved by how delicious it was. Since they had watched the drama Shogun, I guided them through the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace while briefly explaining Japanese history. For lunch we ate at Suju Dining in the Shin-Marunouchi Building, and they were delighted with how tasty it was. At Meiji Shrine they were amazed that such a place could exist within the city. I believe the guests were very satisfied. At the end, I explained how to get back and said goodbye.

A Licensed Guide's Report At the request of the guests, who wished to visit places other than Osaka Castle, we visited the Umeda Sky Building, Tekijuku, and the area around Dotonbori. The guests were visitors from North America. At first, they mentioned wanting to visit a cat café, as their own cat had recently passed away. They had intended to have lunch at the cat café, but since there was no food available there and the process was a bit complicated—having to take off shoes and use hand sanitizer—they decided against it, and we tried the nearby Amerikamura instead. They soon felt they had seen enough of that as well, so we returned to Dotonbori. It was a little disappointing that the tour ended somewhat early.

    I use this nickname because it sounds cute and easy to remember. However,
    I actually look rounded, a middle aged woman more like a yellow character of M&Mchocolate, which reminds you of my name easily when you see me.
    I was born in Osaka, went to school in Kobe, went to work in Kyoto and married but still live in Osaka. I am a local, native Osakan. My 3 children are all grown up and live separately except one son. Now I live with one son and a husband in suburbs of the Osaka city.
    I like travelling, walking around the town and anything new.
    I got my guide license in 2017 and started guiding after that. I wasn’t able to work during Covid period but start guiding in 2022 again. I guide Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Kobe and have experienced more than100 tours including bus tours.
    I would like to tell you about the itineraries I usually have in each area.
    In Osaka, we usually go to Osaka castle, Shinsekai and Dotonbori Namba area.
    I think most important part you should see is Dotonbori Namba in Osaka.
    This place is vibrant , energetic, full of 3D signs and different from any other place in Japan.
    In Kyoto, we cannot see all famous sightseeing spots in one day.
    It will be better to visit each area respectively. I recommend guests who come to Kyoto first time to visit East area, Kiyomizu Temple>Sannenzaka>Ninenzaka>Ishibeikouji>Yasaka shrine> Gion area. This area has an atmosphere of traditional old Kyoto. The most Kyoto like places which suit Kimono. You can rent Kimono in a lot of places around here.
    The second place I recommend you is West area: Golden temple and Arashiyama area where Bamboo forest , Tenryuji temple, mountains and a river. There are several nice gardens in this area. If you want to enjoy the nature quietly, you
    should come here when it is not crowded (Winter is the most quiet)
    In Nara which used to be a capital even older than Kyoto, we visit Todaiji Temple where a huge Buddha is sitting inside of one of the largest wooden hall and you can play with deer everywhere in Nara. Naramachi: a small town in this area is a local place where small interesting shops are.
    In Kobe, a port city, you can visit Japanese Sake breweries, Herb garden and the top of Mt.Rokko for viewing Kobe city. A small China town is there, too.

    Now I bet you want to leave home to explore somewhere else you do not know.
    Not only going to somewhere else, we can help you to do several experiences: making tea, making Japanese sweet, making Takoyaki(food), wearing Kimono, making food samples, attending a tea ceremony, throwing Shriken like Ninja, Using bow and arrow like Samurai, , , ,

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of three visiting Japan, some based in Asia and others in North America. Before the tour, the guests requested to "learn about history and Japan, including Senso-ji Temple," so I replied with a proposed itinerary. When we met on the day, we reconfirmed the plan and started the tour (the guests had already purchased SUICA cards at Narita Airport in advance). Some of the guests had lived in North America and had visited Japan on a trip more than twenty years ago; others had spent part of their earlier years in Asia before living in North America for a long time; and others were currently studying at a university. The wider family had also relocated to Africa, so the guests were broad-minded, well-informed about various countries, and very friendly. After visiting Meiji Shrine, the guests wrote down their wishes to offer, and were captivated by the forest surrounding the shrine buildings. At Tsukiji, they took out one dish after another (wagyu skewers, tuna sushi, satsuma-age, strawberry daifuku, dried squid, and shrimp tempura). Before we knew it, we had spent more than an hour at Tsukiji! On the way to Asakusa, I shared information with the guests by email about a museum where ukiyo-e can be seen, Harajuku and its surroundings, the Yanaka-Nezu-Sendagi area, and a foot massage shop near their accommodation in Shinjuku. In Asakusa, they took out ningyo-yaki and roasted sweet potato brûlée. Finally, I guided them to a shop near Kappabashi Kitchen Town where you can taste sake and helped them place their orders, and when it was time to part ways, we said goodbye with smiles.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Mount Hakodate and the Motomachi Area The guests were a group visiting from North America. They took a taxi to the base station of the Mount Hakodate ropeway, hoping to enjoy the view from the summit. However, the weather was not very good, and a considerable amount of fog had developed. When we asked the ropeway staff, they told us that the fog was thick and the view would not be clear. After discussing it, we decided not to ride the ropeway. Instead, we spent the time strolling through the Motomachi area. This was the first time I had experienced something like this at Mount Hakodate. The guests took photos, did some shopping, and walked along the slopes. In hindsight, I should have made the decision a little sooner and changed to a different location. From the base station of the ropeway, we walked the entire way. They did some shopping at several places. After that, we had lunch at an eatery in the morning market. The tour started earlier than scheduled and ultimately ended a little early. After using the taxi at the beginning, we walked everywhere. The photos were taken at Hachiman-zaka slope in the Motomachi area.

    # What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private full-day Tokyo tour for guests visiting Japan for the first time. I was happy to help take many commemorative photos for the group. Some of the guests had visited Asia before, while for others this was a first trip to the region. The guests had traveled from Osaka and Kyoto to Tokyo by Shinkansen. In the Kansai region they had hired a guide from Europe, and I was their first Japanese guide. Among themselves they spoke a European language, but they also spoke very fluent English. They mentioned that they lived in Europe. The guests had a very pop and stylish sense of fashion, wearing a hat with a necktie and belt that they said they had bought in Osaka. When we strolled along Takeshita Street in Harajuku, they were very excited, saying, "There are so many cute things sold here!" In Shibuya, since they had told me their last sightseeing day in Tokyo would be dedicated entirely to shopping, I verbally shared the locations of PARCO, which houses the Nintendo store, and Mega Don Quijote. Perhaps because they had already finished sightseeing in Kyoto, I got the impression that they were more drawn to lively places than to historical sites or spots offering quiet and stillness. Since they had also expressed in advance a wish to see a few lesser-known spots, I had originally planned to guide them to Aoyama Cemetery. However, when one of the guests asked, "Where is the cat billboard?" this became the trigger for our plan. As the Shinkansen the previous day had arrived at Shinagawa, they had not seen Tokyo Station, so after touring Tokyo Station, we decided to head to Shinjuku via the Chuo Line. They were very pleased with the 3D digital cat billboard and the Godzilla Head in Kabukicho, and took many photos. For lunch, since they had already tried ramen several times, they mentioned that although they loved it, they wanted to try something different. When I asked whether they had tried Japanese curry, the answer was "not yet." By chance, just before reaching Zojoji Temple, we discovered an udon restaurant serving curry udon. They had not eaten breakfast and were just getting hungry, so we ended up eating there, and they were very satisfied. They plan to visit Hakone the next day.

    When one of the guests took a liking to a paper crane earring and wished to purchase it, I guided the group to Orizuru Tower. The guests enjoyed the observation deck and the paper crane folding experience, but since the item was not available in the desired color, we searched together at about five or six shops in the Miyajima shopping district afterward, and they were finally able to purchase the item they wanted. The guests also wished to buy a hand massager they had photographed while receiving a massage in Kyoto, so I identified the product number using Google Lens, contacted an electronics retailer, and supported their shopping. We were able to successfully find the desired product, and the guests seemed very satisfied, which made me happy as well.

    Title: What's a Private Tokyo Tour Like from Tsukiji to Meiji Shrine? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. After helping with their requests, such as exchanging pre-booked baseball game tickets at a convenience store and explaining how to use a SUICA card, we headed to Tsukiji Market. The group had researched Japan and Tokyo thoroughly beforehand, so the tour proceeded with me answering their specific requests and questions one by one. At Tsukiji Market, they greatly enjoyed melon, tuna, crab, and wagyu beef, and also purchased a knife at a long-established knife shop. At the Imperial Palace, they asked questions about the shogun and the emperor, showing an interest in history. In Omotesando and Harajuku, I introduced shops that the group would likely enjoy, and they planned to enjoy shopping after the tour. I guided them along Takeshita Street and to Meiji Shrine before ending the tour.

    Can You Do a Private Day Trip from Tokyo to Kamakura? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, visiting Japan for the first time. Some of the guests could only walk slowly and needed to rest at several points during the day. They had arrived at Narita Airport the previous day and taken a taxi to their hotel. The day before, they had strolled around Asakusa. This visit spanned fourteen days. In addition to Tokyo, they planned to travel to Hakone, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and other places before returning to Tokyo and heading home. They commented, "Tokyo was crowded everywhere and it was tiring. In that respect, Kamakura felt quiet, and I thought it was a place where one could relax." The tour took place in warm, almost hot weather. We traveled from Asakusa Station via Ueno Station to Kamakura Station, then took the Enoden line to Hase. Both the Enoden train and the approach path were extremely crowded with tourists. Along the way, I explained "the history of Kamakura," "the history of Edo and Tokyo," "the feudal system," and "the Meiji Restoration." I also explained "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There were questions such as "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" and "What other religions do people follow?" One of the guests entered the interior of the Great Buddha and said, "Now I understand well how the Great Buddha was made." There was also a question: "Since we are also going to Nara, we would like to see the Great Buddha in Nara. Which one is bigger? And which one was made first?" We walked to Hasedera Temple. "The garden inside the temple is wonderful," they said. One of the guests waited at the soba restaurant near the entrance, enjoying a beer. We returned to Kamakura Station on the Enoden line and took a bus to Hokokuji Temple. One of the guests strongly wished to see the bamboo grove. The other waited seated at the entrance. We strolled slowly through the bamboo grove. We took a bus back to Kamakura Station and walked to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Here too, one of the guests waited at the soba restaurant near the entrance of Komachi Street, enjoying a beer. I again explained "about Shinto" and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." I also explained the respective methods of worship. We took photos in front of the sake barrels. We strolled slowly through the crowded grounds, and also visited the Inari shrine within the precincts. Afterward, we walked along the very crowded Komachi Street back to Kamakura Station. One of the guests purchased chopsticks as a souvenir. Their comments included: "I felt Japan is very safe," "There is no litter on the streets," "I don't see any homeless people," and "Everyone is polite." I saw them off from Kamakura Station via Ueno Station to Asakusa Station, and we parted ways.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    The guests were a visitor from North America. Since the booking was made only three days in advance, there was little time for prior arrangements, so I had sent a provisional itinerary, and I received a reply last night. It included: 1) Tokyo National Museum 2) Tokyo Skytree 3) Hamarikyu Gardens Tea Room If time permitted, the Odaiba district and the Tokyo Bay Area. For the time being, I decided to plan after meeting this morning. When we met, it turned out that the guest had already been staying in Japan since last week and had already visited the major spots. It also turned out that the person I had been in contact with until last night was another member of the group, who was in Japan for two to three weeks and whom the guest had joined for this first visit to Japan. Given this background, I spent a little time on the historical context of Marunouchi, and also explained, from the Marunouchi side, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace that the guest had visited the previous day (there seemed to have been a guide the previous day as well, but the explanation had not been fully understood). We started with Odaiba, then went from Shiodome to Hamarikyu, where the guest enjoyed matcha and Japanese sweets at the tea house on the island. Next, after a fairly thorough visit to the Tokyo National Museum from Ueno Park, I explained Shinto and Buddhism at Ueno Toshogu Shrine and the five-story pagoda of Kaneiji Temple, and it seemed to make sense to the guest. Next week, the guest will travel around the Kansai region with another member of the group.

    I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
    After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

    My guide is starting from a brief history of the site where I am going to guide. I usually add a briefing about Japanese culture based on religions, such as Shinto Shrine and Buddhist temples. A geographic background behind the history is also important.

    I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Kanazawa Walking Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guided them on a private one-day walking tour of Kanazawa. We strolled through the Higashi Chaya District, visited Utasu Shrine, and at a gold leaf workshop they observed the final stages of gold leaf production. The guests asked sharp questions, including ones about the operational safety of the punching machines used to make gold leaf. We then toured Kanazawa Castle Park, seeing the Hishi Yagura, the Gojukken Nagaya, and the Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura, followed by Gyokusen'in and Oyama Shrine. The guests wished to visit a sword shop, but since Kanazawa did not have the kind of store they were looking for, I recommended a shop near Nijo Castle in Kyoto. As that shop requires a prior visit reservation, I provided the contact information, and the tour concluded in the Nagamachi district.
