What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today's guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Since the guests held tickets for a Shinkansen departing Himeji at 12:59 bound for Osaka, we began the tour with a planned duration of three and a half hours.
It rained throughout the day. We met in front of the central ticket gate at Himeji Station, then toured Castle View, Himeji Castle (the Nishinomaru Hyakken Corridor and the Main Keep). However, at the guests' request, we did not visit the planned Kokoen Garden, and the tour ended at the taxi stand in front of the Otemon Gate of Himeji Castle. Although we parted earlier than scheduled, all of the guests kindly expressed their thanks.

Our delightful guide, Norio, was knowledgeable and a master at train negotiation! A highlight of the tour was the Herb Garden and Ropeway visit. The Sake Brewery and Museum was interesting with fabulous explanation from Norio combined with outstanding exhibits and tastings! He then left us to wander at our leisure in Chinatown.

We learnt lots about Himeji castle and it was very interesting. The gardens were beautiful and it was great to see all the Koi fish. Norio made sure to take us to the best places and even took us to a great local sake place we asked for 🙂
