At the scheduled time of 8:30, they came out of the exit of the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, and the tour began. The group traveled using taxi, local bus, and tram to visit the atomic bomb-related facilities, Sanno Shrine (the one-legged torii gate and the A-bombed camphor tree), Dejima, a lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that had been reserved in advance (with a stop at a convenience store before arriving at the restaurant), and Glover Garden. After finishing at Glover Garden, we headed toward the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, but along the way there was a convenience store, and the guests said, "We'll stop here, so you can end the tour at this point. We'll make our own way back to the ship." The tour therefore ended at this location at 14:30. This time the guests did not use a credit card and paid entirely in Japanese yen cash. On the local bus and tram, I helped them prepare the correct coins for the fare before getting off. A notable stop on the tour was Glover Garden. Glover Garden is an open-air museum in Nagasaki that preserves the former residences of foreign merchants who lived in the city after Japan opened to international trade in the mid-19th century. The site features Western-style buildings, including the former home of Scottish merchant Thomas Glover, and offers sweeping views over Nagasaki Harbor from its hillside setting. It is one of Nagasaki's most popular attractions and reflects the city's long history as an important center of exchange between Japan and the wider world.

First, I assisted with the purchase of Suica cards for the younger members of the group at Shiomi Station. In particular, one was a child-type Suica, which required passport verification and the entry of identification details, so it took some time to issue the card under the guidance of the station staff. At Meiji Shrine, in front of the gate, I gave an overview of Japanese history, the difference between shrines and temples, and the origins of Meiji Shrine. We walked along the approach while I added explanations at key points, and after explaining how to worship in front of the main hall, everyone offered their prayers. We moved to Shibuya Station by JR and took photos in front of the Hachiko statue and at the scramble crossing. The younger members of the group in particular knew the area well and were delighted. We then took the subway to Tawaramachi and had lunch at a restaurant where I had made a reservation. The restaurant served a complimentary dessert, which the guests were pleased with. At Senso-ji Temple, we proceeded from Kaminarimon Gate through the Nakamise shopping street, viewed the five-story pagoda, and then the group drew omikuji fortunes before offering prayers at the main hall. Since the guests had a reservation at teamLab in Toyosu after the tour, I saw them off at teamLab Planets in Shin-Toyosu to conclude the tour.

We took the tram to Peace Park and walked to the Atomic Bomb Museum.     What Is a Private Hiroshima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe, arriving from Osaka. It was raining, but not too heavily, and it was a cool and comfortable day. They enjoyed the scenery of Shukkeien Garden and took many photos. Some of the guests found the contents of the museum a little frightening, but they viewed everything very earnestly. Since one of the guests had been collecting stamps from various sightseeing spots, they were delighted to get the stamps from the museum and the rest house as well. We all folded paper cranes together and offered them at the Children's Peace Monument. They seemed to enjoy origami as well and had a wonderful time. I guided them to the Atomic Bomb Dome, then took them to the tram stop bound for Hiroshima Station, where we parted ways. A notable stop on the tour was the Atomic Bomb Dome. The Atomic Bomb Dome is one of the most recognized landmarks in Hiroshima and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It stands as a preserved ruin from the atomic bombing of 1945, serving as a powerful symbol of peace and a reminder of the tragedy of nuclear weapons. Located along the river near the Peace Memorial Park, it draws visitors from around the world who come to reflect and pay their respects.

    Title: What Is a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, Asakusa, and Skytree The guests had visited Kyoto before coming to Tokyo, so I was a little concerned that they might be tired of temples and shrines, but a morning conversation put that worry to rest. They were first surprised at how different Tokyo was from Kyoto, with so many high-rise buildings. They mentioned that in Kyoto there were no skyscrapers apart from Kyoto Tower, which they had climbed, so I explained that Kyoto has various restrictions on building height. The night before, upon arriving in Tokyo, they had already gone up Tokyo Tower. From our earlier communication, I knew they had a 4:30 p.m. reservation for Tokyo Skytree, so I changed the drop-off point from the Hotel to Skytree. One of the guests in particular loved seeing views from high places. Since they had such a strong impression of skyscrapers, at Meiji Shrine they were amazed by its tranquility and vast grounds. At the Hikarie Sky Lobby observation area, they enjoyed not only the view but were also fascinated by the scale model of the future cityscape and the LEGO model next to it, as they were big LEGO fans. Since the model also showed the streets of the town, we moved to the scramble crossing via the underground passage, observed the crossing twice, actually crossed on the third time, took a photo at the Hachiko statue, and then enjoyed crossing the intersection two more times. We moved on to Asakusa, where they again enjoyed the view from the observation deck of the tourist information center. They said they wanted to spend time shopping along Nakamise, and indeed they spent quite a while enjoying each shop one by one. While looking for a place for lunch, we came near Hoppy Street, so I gave a brief explanation, and they decided to give it a try, having lunch at a yakitori restaurant. After that, we moved to the Jugoya Festival venue at Tomioka Hachiman Shrine, which I had suggested. According to the information, food stalls and stage performances were supposed to start from 2 p.m., but some stalls were not open and the stage felt a bit lackluster, which was disappointing from a guide's perspective. Still, the guests were interested in seeing a side of Tokyo that was not all skyscrapers. We left the festival early and moved to the neighboring Fukagawa Fudo-do, where there were things not seen in Kyoto, and we happened upon a goma fire ritual, which they found very satisfying. After that, I guided them to the entrance of Skytree, where we parted ways.

    If you are interested in hidden gem, here are some examples;

    Kawasaki, located between Tokyo and Yokohama near Haneda Airport, is the second station of the fifty-three stations of the Tokaido, the 400 years old highway towards Kyoto from Edo (old name of Tokyo). You can do Hand-cut glass experiment, stopping at a bar for sake tasting, visiting Kawasaki-Daishi temple that receives 3 million worshippers in the new year period.

    Another spot is Echigo-Yuzawa in Niigata prefecture, 75 minutes from Tokyo by Shinkansen train. Echigo-Yuzawa is “Onsen” (hot springs) town. You can enjoy visiting Sake brewery, skiing in winter, veiwing Sakura (cherry blossom) in spring. Appreciation of contemporary art displays in open air and old carvings at temples, in neighboring towns will be also memorable experience.

    What Is a Private Tuna Auction and Toyosu Market Tour Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who got along very well. During the tuna auction viewing, the group showed great interest in watching five auctioneers competing as they conducted the auction, and they took many videos and photos. They were especially amazed that each tuna was sold in about five seconds. At the sushi restaurant after the auction, they were moved by how the medium-fatty tuna seemed to melt in their mouths. They mentioned that they had eaten a sushi course in Ginza the previous evening, but they were delighted to find that the sushi at Toyosu Market was on a far higher level. Since the group had already explored the Tsukiji Outer Market on their own the previous day, I had them visit the intermediate wholesalers, and by chance we came across a scene where fresh bluefin tuna was being cut and dismantled, which they were happy to see. A notable stop on the tour was Toyosu Market. Toyosu Market is Tokyo's main wholesale market for fish and seafood, and it opened in 2018 as the successor to the historic Tsukiji fish market. It is one of the largest markets of its kind in the world, and its early-morning tuna auctions are a famous highlight where whole frozen and fresh tuna are sold to bidders at remarkable speed. Visitors can observe the auctions from dedicated viewing areas and enjoy exceptionally fresh sushi at the market's restaurants.

    What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kiyomizu-dera The guests joined the tour from North America, and it was their first visit to Japan. On the day, they arrived from Tokyo by bullet train, and we met near the entrance of Fushimi Inari Shrine. The guests loved taking photos and took many pictures in a variety of poses. Since it was after a holiday period, the number of domestic tourists had dropped significantly, making for a calm and relaxed tour. The guests walked well throughout the day, so we were able to proceed very smoothly. As the day grew quite hot and they had traveled from early in the morning, they seemed a little tired by the time we reached the final stop at Kiyomizu-dera, so we used a taxi. The photo was taken in front of the bamboo grove at the entrance of Tenryu-ji Temple in Arashiyama. A notable stop on the tour was Fushimi Inari Shrine. Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's most iconic sites, famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that wind up the wooded slopes of Mount Inari. Dedicated to Inari, the Shinto deity of rice and prosperity, the shrine has been a place of worship for over a thousand years. Visitors can walk through the seemingly endless tunnels of torii gates, each donated by individuals and businesses, and enjoy scenic views of Kyoto from higher points along the trail.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from Europe. During this trip, they were delighted to enjoy two consecutive days of clear weather in Kanazawa for the first time. The Hotel was located on the far side of the Saigawa River and was somewhat inconvenient, being a fair distance from the bus stop. However, we managed to board the bus, which runs every 20 minutes, right on time as planned. After that, the tour of Kenrokuen Garden, Kanazawa Castle, the Higashi Chaya district, and Nagamachi proceeded smoothly, with a snack break at a convenience store along the way and a matcha ice cream break in the Higashi Chaya district. One of the guests loved taking photographs and enjoyed capturing many pictures at each spot. A notable stop on the tour was Kenrokuen Garden. Kenrokuen is considered one of the three great gardens of Japan, celebrated for its meticulously designed landscape that combines ponds, streams, bridges, teahouses, and seasonal plantings. Originally developed by the ruling Maeda family over many generations, the garden is especially admired for its beauty across all four seasons, from spring blossoms to winter snow displays supported by traditional rope structures.

A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya The guests, who had arrived in Japan from North America, thoroughly enjoyed today's tour despite the fatigue from a long journey. This morning, a request came in to add Shibuya and the Imperial Palace to the planned itinerary of Senso-ji Temple, Shinjuku, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku, and I carried out the tour in response to this request, which delighted them greatly. They took many photographs at each location. At Senso-ji Temple, they drew an omikuji fortune and were pleased to receive a good result. In the afternoon, we also visited Meiji Shrine, where they learned the differences between temples and shrines, the respective methods of worship, and how to pass through a torii gate. For lunch, they mentioned they wanted to eat sushi, so I made a reservation at a sushi restaurant on Dogenzaka in Shibuya, and they enjoyed the meal very much. I received detailed questions at each location and answered them, and as the guests were of a similar generation and had a family situation quite similar to mine, we had many common topics to talk about, making for an enjoyable tour.

    Let me introduce myself. I was born in Hayama, a beach resort area, Kanagawa prefecture, south of Tokyo. And I’m now living in Saginuma, Kawasaki city.
    When I was a university student, I had the opportunities of doing a home stay with a family In U.S.A., Australia, and England, as a youth exchange student.
    After graduation from the university, I started working at American Life Insurance Company, Japan (Alico, Japan), which is a group member company of AIG, now MetLife Insurance Company. I could have a chance to visit the head office and the field offices of U.S.A., Wilmington in Delaware, New York, Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale in Florida, Los Angeles, while I was working for Alico, Japan (Now, MetLife Insurance company).
    I had been working for MetLife Insurance Company for about 38 years, in total.
    After retiring from the life insurance company, I started working as a tour guide, because I wanted to become a tour guide to introduce culture, history, and manners and customs of Japan in English. It’s so different between my previous job and the guide business, but I like guide business a lot.
    I can meet so many people from all over the world and the guide business has been thriving after the pandemic.
    I have implemented the tour over 240 times, introduced Japan to more than 4900 tourists from 54 countries.

    Not only Tokyo, but I have experienced touring around Nikko, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji & Hakone area, Takayama, Kanazawa, Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Hiroshima, etc. which are all very famous as a tourist spot in Japan.
    If you go on a tour in Tokyo, you must see and visit Asakusa Sensoji Temple which is the oldest Buddhist Temple in Tokyo with histories and Nakamise Shopping Street where you can buy the souvenirs and try to taste Japanese sweets, such as doll cake which is the sponge cake in various shapes filled with red bean paste and Japanese powdered tea ice cream. Another my recommendation in Tokyo to visit is Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Shibuya. Meiji Shrine is one of the biggest shrines in Japan with quiet and peaceful atmosphere and magnificent site.
    Harajuku and Shibuya are both fun to visit for shopping and experience the Shibuya Crossing.
    I usually propose my tentative itinerary and ask if my plan is all right with the customer or not. My hobby is traveling around Japan and foreign countries and going to the gym for exercise.
    I would like to work as a guide as long as possible if I’m in good health and my legs are strong, because I love this job.
    I put my importance on the mind of OMOTENASHI which means sincere hospitality, though safety during the tour takes precedence, number one priority, before anything else.

    Title: What's a Rainy-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace East Gardens, and Meiji Shrine It was an unfortunate day of rainy weather, with steady rain from a little after 11:00 onward. The guests had installed a Welcome Suica, but there were several issues, such as the touch at the ticket gate not registering properly. Asakusa was quite crowded. I received many questions about religion. At the Imperial Palace East Gardens, we entered through the Kitahanebashi Gate as planned, but due to the heavy rain the Ote Gate was closed, so we exited through the Hirakawa Gate. Despite the rain, the guests took many photographs within the gardens and enjoyed themselves. Meiji Shrine was also crowded, but the guests had a good time. I explained the difference between shrines and temples. If there had been time, I had planned to guide them to Shibuya, but there was not enough time, so I explained the way back at Meiji-jingumae Station and the tour concluded. I received a tip. A notable stop on the tour was Meiji Shrine. Meiji Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in a large forested area in the heart of Tokyo, dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Completed in 1920, the shrine is surrounded by an extensive man-made forest of over 100,000 trees donated from across Japan. It is one of the most visited shrines in the country, especially during the New Year period, and offers a peaceful, natural retreat that contrasts with the bustling city just beyond its towering torii gates.
