Title: What Is a Private Nagasaki Cruise-Port Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. At the scheduled time of 8:30, they came out of the exit of the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, and the tour began. The group traveled using taxi, local bus, and tram to visit the atomic bomb-related facilities, Sanno Shrine (the one-legged torii gate and the A-bombed camphor tree), Dejima, a lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown that had been reserved in advance (with a stop at a convenience store before arriving at the restaurant), and Glover Garden. After finishing at Glover Garden, we headed toward the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, but along the way there was a convenience store, and the guests said, "We'll stop here, so you can end the tour at this point. We'll make our own way back to the ship." The tour therefore ended at this location at 14:30.
This time the guests did not use a credit card and paid entirely in Japanese yen cash. On the local bus and tram, I helped them prepare the correct coins for the fare before getting off.
A notable stop on the tour was Glover Garden. Glover Garden is an open-air museum in Nagasaki that preserves the former residences of foreign merchants who lived in the city after Japan opened to international trade in the mid-19th century. The site features Western-style buildings, including the former home of Scottish merchant Thomas Glover, and offers sweeping views over Nagasaki Harbor from its hillside setting. It is one of Nagasaki's most popular attractions and reflects the city's long history as an important center of exchange between Japan and the wider world.

Hello, my name is Junichi Matsumoto.
I will be your guide on this occasion. With warm hospitality, I will do my best to help you fully enjoy and appreciate the charm of Japan.
Before becoming a guide, I worked for the Kumamoto Prefectural Government and retired in March 2023. From 2003 to 2005, I was stationed in Montana, USA, which has a sister-state relationship with Kumamoto. During that time, I actively interacted with the local community together with my family, which gave me valuable cross-cultural experiences.
I am an easygoing person who quickly builds a friendly relationship with international guests. With a sincere smile and attentive care, I always strive to provide tours that are warm, enjoyable, and memorable. It would be my great pleasure to help you make unforgettable memories during your stay in Japan.

Amazing tour by an amazing guide
Junichi, our guide, was simply amazing. He traveled for two days to be with us. Using public transportation (which was very cheap), he got us to see the Atomic Museum, the Peace Park, the Grover Gardens, and even got us a reservation for lunch in a Chinatown restaurant (We were ten people). I thoroughly recommend him.

Nagaski day tour
Junichi was a great tour guide. He met us at the cruise port and customized the tour for our family interests. We started the day at Glover gardens and got to learn how Japanese industry evolved. We experienced local lunch in Chinatown and ended the day at the Atomic bomb museum and peace park….
