    What Is a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since they wanted to travel between Osaka and Kyoto as comfortably and quickly as possible, I reserved the Haruka limited express for the outbound trip. The guests were pleased with the smooth journey. After sightseeing at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, we moved on to Arashiyama. We had lunch at a restaurant, where the guests enjoyed comparing the menu and dishes with great interest. Afterward, we visited Tenryu-ji Temple and the Bamboo Grove Path, then walked from Togetsukyo Bridge to the Hankyu line and headed to Nishiki Market. However, since everyone was quite tired, we cut the visit short and returned to Osaka using the Hankyu PRiVACE service.

    Title: What's a Private First-Day Tokyo Tour Like from Haneda Airport? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests arrived at Haneda Airport early in the morning, checked into their Hotel, had breakfast, and then we began the tour. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. We first traveled by taxi to Meiji Shrine, and during the ride I gave a brief explanation of the history of Edo in the late 19th century. At Meiji Shrine, as requested, we were able to walk at length during a quiet time with few visitors. After that, we walked along Takeshita Street before the shops opened, when there were few people around, and I introduced some of the main stores. We purchased a 24-hour Tokyo Metro pass, boarded at Meiji-jingumae Station, and I explained how to use Tokyo's public transportation network. We got off at Otemachi Station, where the guests were finally able to buy the "Purusshu" drink they had been hoping for from a vending machine on the platform. We walked around the Imperial Palace while I shared stories woven together with the history of Edo, and the guests enjoyed the irises and the carp. However, due to fatigue, we decided to give up on Senso-ji Temple, which had originally been planned. I guided the guests to Takeshita Street, where an animal café was scheduled for the afternoon, and the tour concluded.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace, and Nishiki Market The guests were a group visiting from Europe. I had received their desired destinations in advance through the agency. When I asked, they told me they had visited the main temples and shrines the previous day on a bicycle tour, which made sense. Since I had arranged for the Nijo Castle tickets to be purchased in advance, entry was smooth. One of the guests plans to pursue education at university and hopes to become a university professor in the future. This guest held firm personal views and listened carefully to my explanations. Next, we moved to the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Here too, everyone listened attentively to my explanations. When I later asked for impressions, one of the guests, who works in a field related to architecture, was impressed by the many ingenious details in the buildings and said they would love to take another careful look. We then moved to Nishiki Market. Since one of the guests had mentioned at our first meeting that they could not eat gluten and asked me to recommend something they might be able to eat at Nishiki Market, we entered from Takakura Street and looked through the shops one by one. When we reached Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine, it was exactly time for the tour to end, so we said our goodbyes. The photo was taken in the garden of the Imperial Palace. At first they stood still, but then they jumped again for the shot. Since it looked fun, I am submitting the jump version. (Sorry if it is a little hard to see because of all the jumping.)

    What's a Private Day Tour of Hakodate Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wanted to visit places not often frequented by tourists, so after a brief look at the morning market, I guided them to Fureai Ika Hiroba. The weather was fine with a cool breeze, and they enjoyed it. Next, I guided them to Hakodate Meiji-kan, which recreates the streets of 1960s Hakodate. At the observation deck of Goryokaku Tower, they took photos of Mount Hakodate and the sea fog drifting in from the coast. In the park, as shown in the photos, they had their pictures taken dressed in Shinsengumi costumes. I believe they were in great spirits. Since they liked walking, we walked together along half of the path that circles Goryokaku Park. As there was time, we visited the Northern Pacific Museum near the park. They looked at the exhibits with great interest.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Ueno, Yanaka, Nezu, Meiji Shrine and Shibuya The guests were visitors from North America, and it was their first visit to Japan. They arrived at Haneda Airport two days ago and took a taxi to their hotel. Yesterday they explored the Shinjuku area and Shinjuku Gyoen. For this trip, they are staying in Japan for a while. After spending a few days in Tokyo, they will head to Hakone tomorrow, then travel to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima before returning to Tokyo and heading home. They said, "Today we would like to visit the main spots in the city and get a sense of the transportation." It was a tour under a cloudy sky, in weather warm enough to feel hot. First, since they really wanted to purchase a "Welcome Suica Card," we went to the Station Travel Concierge at Shinjuku Station. After this, we headed to Asakusa. As always, it was very crowded. We started from in front of Kaminarimon Gate. I explained "the history of Senso-ji Temple and the transition from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos at Kaminarimon and various other spots, and strolled slowly through the crowded Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the main religions in Japan?" "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?" and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people believe in?" They purchased a good-luck charm as a souvenir. After this, we went to Ueno Park. The hydrangeas were in full bloom and they enjoyed them. I explained "about the Edo period" and "about the history of Ueno Park." We moved to Nippori. I explained "the history and current state of the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi areas." Yanaka Ginza was very crowded with international tourists. They commented, "Compared to other neighborhoods in Tokyo, this is quiet and calm — this is the kind of place we wanted to visit." From here, we moved to Nezu Shrine. At Nezu Shrine, we passed through the torii gates of the Inari shrine and offered our prayers. We came across a family doing their "Shichi-Go-San" visit, and with their permission, took a photo. I explained "what Shinto is" and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." From here, we moved to Harajuku. Meiji Shrine was quite crowded with tourists. I explained "about Shinto," "about torii gates," "about Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed," and "why wine barrels are displayed." There were questions such as "What kind of religion is Shinto?" and "How does Buddhism differ from Shinto?" We took a short break at Forest Terrace Meiji Jingu. We moved to Shibuya. Looking at Shibuya Scramble Square, there were questions such as "About how many people cross the intersection?" and "Why did it become famous?" We crossed the Scramble Crossing and took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were comments and questions such as "The city is clean and there's no litter on the ground," "There are no trash bins around the city — why is that?" and "Everyone is quiet on the trains." Finally, I saw them off at Shinjuku Station and we parted ways.

It was everyone's first visit to Japan. They had arrived about two weeks earlier and had already traveled around Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara before coming to Tokyo. They arrived in Tokyo this morning and took a taxi to their Hotel. They planned to stay in Japan for a total of about two weeks. Tonight they were scheduled to join a Shinjuku Golden Gai tour, tomorrow they would visit Tokyo Disneyland, and the day after they planned to fly home. The tour took place under cloudy skies but in weather that was almost hot. We proceeded slowly as a group, walking at a gentle pace, and used elevators and escalators whenever possible. First, following their request, we headed to Tokyo Skytree. It was surprisingly uncrowded. Everyone went up to the Top Deck, while I waited at the exit. They said, "We got a great sense of the layout of Tokyo." However, they added, "It was cloudy, so unfortunately we couldn't see Mount Fuji." After this, we went to Asakusa. As always, it was extremely crowded, with school excursion students especially noticeable. We started from in front of the Kaminarimon Gate.     As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    # What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had arrived just the night before, and today was their first day in Tokyo. They planned to stay in Tokyo for several nights and then travel over the course of their trip to Lake Kawaguchi, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Okinawa. In line with their prior requests, today's course covered the Tsukiji Outer Market, Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple, and Meiji Jingu Shrine. At the first stop, the Tsukiji Outer Market, the guests were fascinated by the unique ingredients, and one of the guests happily tried "uni" (sea urchin) for the first time. At Namiyoke Shrine within the market, a festival happened to be taking place, and we were fortunate to see a rare Noh dance performance in the shrine grounds. Immediately afterward, at Tsukiji Hongan-ji Temple, a Buddhist-style wedding ceremony was being held, and the guests were delighted to witness such rare Japanese events one after another. At Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple, the guests experienced distinctive Japanese culture and atmosphere, and thoroughly enjoyed the local Japanese food and plenty of matcha. One of the guests seemed to have researched a great deal in advance, and was thrilled to try "kakigori" (shaved ice) and "ramune" soda for the first time, saying it felt just like experiencing the world they had seen in manga. Finally, we headed to Meiji Jingu Shrine, but because we spent a lot of time in Asakusa, the tour ended slightly over the scheduled time.

    Tokyo Family Private Tour Report: What Can You See in One Day with a Licensed Guide (Asakusa, Imperial Palace, Takeshita Street)? The guests were a family visiting from North America, who had arrived the night before. One of the guests had visited Japan in early childhood but did not remember much, while the others were visiting Japan for the first time. They planned to spend a few days in Tokyo, then travel around the Kansai area, and return to Tokyo before heading home. After arriving in Asakusa, they mentioned that they had made a reservation this evening at a sumo club in Asakusa, so I guided them to that location in advance. The sunshine was very strong, and there was little shade at the Imperial Palace Outer Garden, which made it quite difficult, so I kept that part brief. Takeshita Street was so crowded that it was hard to move forward, but we managed to walk through it and back. Since there was still time before the sumo club, the guests decided to rest at their hotel. I put them on the Toei Bus line 01 from Shibuya to Shimbashi and explained that they should get off at the fifth stop (I had confirmed the bus stop when we departed this morning).

    After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

    My guide is starting from a brief history of the site where I am going to guide. I usually add a briefing about Japanese culture based on religions, such as Shinto Shrine and Buddhist temples. A geographic background behind the history is also important.

    I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report (Meiji Shrine, Shinjuku Gyoen, Asakusa) The guests were a group from North America visiting Japan for the first time. Before coming to Tokyo, they had already visited Hiroshima, and after sightseeing in Tokyo they planned to return home. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was very different from Shibuya. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they enjoyed admiring the beautiful roses in the rose garden. At the Godzilla Store, one of the guests was a big fan of Godzilla and purchased many Godzilla goods. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo shogunate. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines and about Kaminarimon Gate. I responded to the guests' wishes as requested, so I believe they were satisfied. This tour included a vehicle, so there were no advance transportation expenses for the guide.

    What's a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like with a Licensed Guide? A Tour Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. At the start of our subway journey, the guests requested help obtaining PASMO cards for some of the members of the group. I selected the child option at the ticket machine and issued two unregistered PASMO cards, but it later turned out that they were adult PASMO cards. (I understood that children's PASMO cards are not sold at ticket machines and can only be purchased at the station office.) I apologized, but the guests responded that the adult PASMO cards were fine. We had planned to take a Tokyo cruise, but it was fully booked, so we changed to traveling by subway. For lunch at the Tsukiji Outer Market, the guests enjoyed a meal at the usual sushi restaurant in Tsukiji.

    I am a Licensed Guide Interpreter at an age of 61.
    I got an early retirement from 36 yrs of the employment in a Japanese financial sector.
    I hope I can attend to you with the Japanese politeness, hospitality and smile.

    and good Japanese local food around Tokyo, Hakone/Mt Fuji.

    What do I love?
    Most of all, my family. I have a wife 56 yrs old, a son 28 yrs old and a daughter 25 yrs old.
    I like eating raw fish and sushi, buckwheat noodles and curry rice.

    How do I spend my spear time?
    I run for 5 km in the morning listening to my favorite music.
