What Is a Private Tokyo Tour by Taxi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guest has lived in several regions including Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, and has extensive international experience. During the tour, topics such as nationality and living across different regions came up naturally.

The guest preferred to travel by taxi throughout the day. At one point, the guest chose to skip a crowded, touristy shopping street lined with many shops, mentioning a preference for quieter places. While in the taxi, the guest asked the driver whether the number of tourists had decreased this year.

At the museum, the guest was pleased to learn that admission was free for older visitors. The guest also asked about the estimated taxi fare and travel time from the hotel to the Imperial Palace.

The guest mentioned still feeling the effects of jet lag after a long journey and arriving late at night, and kindly noted that this had nothing to do with the guiding. The guest said the explanations were very valuable. The guest also asked, with curiosity, why some people were holding umbrellas when it was not raining, and I explained that they were using them for sun shading.

After the museum, due to jet lag and fatigue, the guest wished to return to the hotel, and we concluded the tour in the afternoon.

A notable stop on the tour was the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. The Imperial Palace is the residence of the Emperor of Japan and is located on the former site of Edo Castle, once the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate. Surrounded by moats, massive stone walls, and beautiful gardens, the palace grounds offer a peaceful contrast to the surrounding modern city center. The East Gardens are open to the public and are a popular place to appreciate seasonal scenery and the remaining structures of the old castle.
