    What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's private tour was for guests visiting from North America. The weather was fine, and since we traveled by car at the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, we were able to start our walk from the Okochi Sanso side, where there were few people, which the guests greatly enjoyed. At both Kinkaku-ji and Nijo Castle, despite the presence of school excursion groups, we happened to visit at times when there were few visitors, so we could tour at a relaxed pace, which was wonderful. Since the guests had only this one day in Kyoto, our schedule was tight, but we made a short stop at Gion Tatsumi Bridge, which had not originally been on the itinerary, so they could take in the atmosphere. Fushimi Inari Taisha was as crowded as ever, but I believe the guests were very satisfied.

    What Is a Private Himeji Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were visitors from North America. For the group, this was a first or second visit to Japan. The guests came to Himeji from Kyoto by Shinkansen, and since they arrived at the meeting point very promptly, we started the tour a little earlier than planned. During the tour, after explaining the overview and historical background of Himeji Castle at Castle View, we visited Himeji Castle, Koko-en Garden, and the Nadagiku Sake Brewery, then returned to Himeji Station to conclude the tour. There were many tourists today, so Himeji Castle was a little crowded, but the weather was good and we were able to enjoy a comfortable tour. At Nadagiku, the guests sampled various kinds of sake and also purchased several bottles. At each of the destinations, the guests appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the tour.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were on their first trip together, visiting for the first time. I was moved by how thoughtful and considerate the guests were toward one another. The entire itinerary proceeded smoothly and on schedule. At Itsukushima Shrine, a tea ceremony was being held, and the guests were delighted to see people dressed in kimono. So, when I explained what makes kimono a point of fashion (for example, "choosing patterns that anticipate the coming season" and "wearing autumn-leaf patterns during the actual autumn-leaf season is considered unrefined"), they listened with great interest. They seemed to be drawn more to the serene Buddhist world of Daisho-in Temple than to Itsukushima Shrine. I was a little unsure whether the tour was enjoyable for everyone, but the guests listened sincerely to what I had to say. After returning to Hiroshima and completing the route up to the Peace Memorial Museum, we still had time to spare, so we traveled by taxi to Hiroshima Castle for a little more history and culture. Afterward, we returned by taxi to the Hotel, and I helped with purchasing Shinkansen tickets before parting ways. Aside from being seated on the boat along the World Heritage sea route, we were on the move the whole time, and apart from eating momiji manju while walking, the guests did not stop for a meal (they said it was unnecessary), so by the time we returned to the station some of the guests seemed quite hungry. They bought something to grab at the supermarket in the station, which made me feel a little apologetic. As we parted, I received a tip.

    Title: What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Higashiyama, and Arashiyama The guests were visitors from North America. When I asked if this was a special trip, one of the guests answered shyly that they had not yet formally reached that milestone, which left a memorable impression. They had brought a DSLR digital camera, and there were many moments when they handed it to me to take photos of the two of them together. Since I wanted to see Fushimi Inari Taisha before the crowds increased, I gave a general explanation of the shrine in the car. As expected, at around 6 in the morning the crowds were sparse, and the guests were pleased to be able to walk around at a relaxed pace. Conversely, the Higashiyama area was more crowded than I had anticipated, and I was struck by the fact that there was already a line at the machiya-style Starbucks on Ninenzaka. At Kiyomizu-dera, several groups of school trip students were coming and going, so I gave my explanations while trying to avoid the crowds as much as possible. The line at the Otowa Waterfall was short, and both guests drank the water there. Nijo Castle was uncrowded, so I was able to guide them comfortably. On the other hand, the autumn foliage at Ginkaku-ji was beautiful, and perhaps because of that it felt more crowded than usual. Since we were running a little behind schedule, I made adjustments such as explaining Kinkaku-ji while walking. At the guests' request, we parted ways near the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama.

    Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Otagi Nenbutsu-ji and Kinkaku-ji The guests were long-time friends visiting from Oceania. They were both cheerful, and it was an enjoyable time. They were captivated by the individual expressions of the 1,200 rakan statues at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji, and commented that although they had visited Japan four times before, this was the most memorable experience yet. The quiet of the mountains and the autumn leaves just beginning to turn seemed to stay in their hearts. They said they wanted to ride the Sagano Romantic Train, but reservations were full and only standing room two departures later was available, so they gave up on it. At Kinkaku-ji, they were impressed by the beautifully maintained garden. I gave a modest explanation of borrowed scenery and dry landscape gardens, and they listened with great interest. They requested to drink some sake, but we ran out of time (as they were traveling to Tokyo in the evening). With such cheerful company, I felt uplifted as well.

    Can You Do a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, Shinjuku Gyoen, and Shibuya The guests were visitors from Oceania, both visiting Japan for the first time. They came to Japan on the recommendation of a family member who had visited before. They had arrived at Haneda Airport the previous evening and taken a taxi to their hotel. On this trip they were staying in Japan for a longer period, planning to spend some time in Tokyo before visiting Hida-Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Hiroshima, and then returning home from Kansai Airport. The tour took place under clear skies, with weather that was at times almost hot. The guests said they would explore Asakusa on their own. First, we headed to Tsukiji. Although it was a market holiday, more than half of the shops were open and there was quite a crowd. We walked around the outer market, browsing various shops, and sampled roasted soybeans, dried squid, and wasabi peanuts. The guests asked, "Why are there so many people here? Are these people who live in Tokyo, or are there many travelers from overseas?" We then moved to the Imperial Palace. I explained about "the transition from the Edo period to the Meiji era," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "the current challenges facing the imperial family." The guests remarked, "The pine trees are beautiful," and asked, "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" At the guests' request for lunch and Japanese food, we went to a sushi restaurant in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya. The guests said, "It's fresh and delicious. It's completely different from the sushi we eat back home." Next, we went to Shinjuku Gyoen, which the guests had really wanted to visit. The garden was extremely crowded. I explained the history of Shinjuku Gyoen. The guests commented, "The Japanese garden is wonderful and full of character." Seeing the chrysanthemums at the chrysanthemum exhibition, they remarked, "Back home, there is a custom of giving chrysanthemums on Mother's Day. But unlike the Japanese chrysanthemums, they are not nearly this beautiful." We then moved to Shibuya, where the guests experienced the Scramble Crossing. They commented, "Why are there so many people here? Are they Japanese, or are they travelers?" and "I can't even understand why everyone comes here in the first place." They also said, "The Japanese all seem very polite," "Why aren't there any trash bins on the streets?" and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant. We were impressed." The guests said the subway was confusing and asked me to take them to Asakusa, so I escorted them to Asakusa Station, where we parted ways.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What Is a Private Naoshima and Takamatsu Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a retired group visiting from Europe. They were pleasant and easy to guide. On this trip to Japan, they were spending 17 days visiting Osaka, Himeji, Takamatsu and the Oboke Gorge, Naoshima, a pilgrimage in Tokushima, and Tokyo. They planned to visit roughly temples number 1 through 10 of the 88 sacred sites in Tokushima Prefecture, and they were strong walkers who moved around Naoshima with ease. The guests spoke about their interests, one connected to railways and the other to art. Although originally from Europe, they had lived in Oceania for many years through railway-related work and were now living in Europe. I learned a great deal from them about the River Avon in England, which relates to Richard Long's work at the Benesse Museum. I also learned about the tradition of afternoon tea from one of the guests. Guiding is enjoyable because it allows not only my own explanations but also a genuine exchange of cultures. At Takamatsu Port I recommended a good udon restaurant and we parted ways. I believe they enjoyed the full day.

    Hello. My name is Hisao Kaji. I was born in 1945. I was raised in Takamatsu City from 3 years old. So, I have been living in Takamatsu for around 75 years. I believe I know Takamatsu City and the Kagawa prefecture area very well. If you come to Takamatsu, Kagawa I think you can enjoy your tour with me. I started a Government Licensed Guide in 2019. So, I have been a licensed guide for about 5 years. My favorite destinations are Naoshima, Teshima, Ritsurin Garden, the top of Mt. Yashima and so on. I always show you an itinerary about one month before your tour date, and I will accept any questions, other favorite places you want to visit.     What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The guest was in Japan for business meetings related to a project. After arriving at Haneda Airport the previous evening, the guest took a taxi to the hotel. The stay in Tokyo was short, with only today free and the remaining days filled with business meetings. The purpose of the tour was, in the guest's words, "to get a general sense of Tokyo." The guest also mentioned, "Someday I would like to enjoy a relaxed trip through Japan, and I especially want to visit Kyoto." The tour took place under clear skies, at times almost hot. The guest walked at a brisk pace throughout. We first went to Asakusa. Passing through the Kaminarimon Gate and the Nakamise shopping street to the main hall, the guest was surprised by the huge crowds. I explained the history of Sensoji Temple and of Edo becoming Tokyo, what a five-story pagoda is, and the difference between Buddhism and Shinto. There were questions such as, "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" and "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" At Tsukiji, we first visited the Tsukiji Uogashi, then went to the outer market. We browsed various shops and sampled roasted soybeans and dried squid. The guest asked, "Why are there so many people here? Are they residents of Tokyo, or mostly travelers from abroad?" The guest said, "I plan to have Kobe beef tonight, so I'd like to have sushi for lunch here," so we went to a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji. The guest noted that everyone in the family loves sushi. The comment was, "The prices are reasonable and the fish is extremely fresh." We then moved to the Imperial Palace. I explained the transition from the Edo period to the Meiji era, the Meiji Restoration, why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace, and current issues facing the imperial family. The guest remarked, "The pine trees are beautiful," and asked, "Does the Emperor really live inside here?" We moved to Harajuku. At Meiji Shrine, I again explained the Meiji Restoration, Emperor Meiji, and why wine barrels are displayed there. The guest said, "It's wonderful to have such a green place in the center of the city. It feels great." We then moved to Shibuya and experienced the Scramble Crossing. Again there was a question: "Why are there so many people? Are they mostly Japanese, or travelers?" The guest also made several comments: "Is it safe to walk around the city at night, and are there any areas I should avoid?" "The Japanese people are all polite." "Why aren't there any trash bins?" "The subway is well made, but it's hard to understand until you get used to it." "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant. I was truly impressed." I saw the guest off at Akasaka-mitsuke Station, and the tour concluded.

    Guide work started in July 2022. A guide focused on FIT compliance.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Nature and Culture Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, who had arrived in Japan the day before and planned to stay in Japan for about ten days, continuing to Kyoto and Osaka after Tokyo. Since the tour day happened to be a special occasion for one of the guests, I expressed my thanks for choosing to book this tour on such a memorable day. I guided the group through Shinjuku Gyoen, Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and Yoyogi Park. The guests seemed to enjoy places where they could experience nature, and they especially loved Shinjuku Gyoen and Yoyogi Park. Since Shinjuku Gyoen was also close to their hotel, they said they would like to come back on their own. It was still a little early for the full autumn foliage in the city, but some trees had already changed color to some degree, and they enjoyed taking many photos, focusing mainly on those spots. They also seemed to enjoy the sushi lunch. At the end, I saw them back to their hotel, where we parted ways.

    What Is a Private Naoshima Art Island Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. This was their first visit to Japan, with a planned stay covering Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Naoshima. They were very cheerful and pleasant, which made guiding them easy. At the Chichu Art Museum, the guests actually taught me a great deal about Tadao Ando's concrete buildings — such as how the concrete windows support their gravity load and the size of the concrete panels (about the size of a single Japanese tatami mat). Since we could not spend enough time in the Art House Project area, I guided them to the Ando Museum, which was of particular interest. I also explained Minamidera, an interesting building designed by Tadao Ando, and Kadoya, a 200-year-old private house transformed into an art site; although we did not go inside Kadoya, I explained it from the exterior of the building. The guests listened attentively at the museums throughout, showing a strong interest in art. Naoshima was crowded with inbound tourists, so I paid careful attention to making sure we did not miss the bus in order to catch the ferry back toward Uno on time. The guests seemed to thoroughly enjoy their full day on Naoshima.
