Title: What Is a Private Old Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Yanaka, and Nezu Shrine The tour was originally booked for the group, but some of the guests were not feeling well and stayed behind to rest, so in the end the tour was conducted with the remaining guests. Since the guests were interested in the atmosphere of old Tokyo, I guided them not only to Asakusa but also to Yanaka and Nezu Shrine. One of the guests loved photography, so we spent a bit longer at each spot. While that guest was busy taking photos in Asakusa, another guest enjoyed shopping at a makeup brush store along Denboin-dori, so I believe the waiting time was put to good use rather than becoming idle. We did not stop at a restaurant, but proceeded while having light meals in Asakusa and Yanaka. After hearing that the guests wanted to see the Shibuya Scramble Crossing after the tour, I explained how to get from Nezu Station to Shibuya Station following the visit to Nezu Shrine, and then concluded the tour.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

Title: What Can You See on an 8-Hour Private Tokyo Tour of Historic Sites? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests said they wanted to see historic buildings and streets but left the specific itinerary up to me, so I guided them along the route above. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) led this private tour of historic Tokyo sites for visitors to Japan. The guests were especially pleased with Nezu Shrine and Shibamata Taishakuten. In particular, they were deeply impressed by the sculpture gallery and the garden at Taishakuten. Since the guests had requested ramen for lunch, I took them to a ramen restaurant in Asakusa, and they told me it was the most delicious ramen they had ever eaten. It was an 8-hour tour, but we were able to complete the itinerary we had originally planned, the weather was fine, and I believe the guests were satisfied.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!

What Is a Private Kyoto Winter Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania. However, Kyoto was hit by an unusually severe cold wave, the kind that occurs only once every few years. The guests, who live in a relatively mild climate, said they could hardly bear the cold of the day. Even though we toured Kyoto while light snow fluttered down, I believe they enjoyed each of the spots we visited. One of the guests was celebrating a birthday, so I was asked to recommend a restaurant for dinner, and I took them to a sushi restaurant in Gion. I am sure they had a wonderful dinner party.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 09:00 Meet at the Monday Apartment Shiba Daimon lobby.
    • 09:15 -09:50 Guided tour of Shiba Onshi Park. After finishing, moved to Nijubashi Bridge in front of the Imperial Palace.
    • 10:15-11:00 Walked from Hibiya Station to the main gate of the Imperial Palace and explained about the Imperial Palace. Took photos in front of Nijubashi Bridge. After finishing, moved to Tsukiji Outer Market.
    • 11:20-12:15 Strolled through Tsukiji Outer Market. Both guests purchased and ate various seafood. After finishing, at their request to see the famous Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple that we passed on the way walking from the subway, we went inside Hongwanji Temple.
    • 12:20-12:50 Toured the interior of Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple. As a monk happened to be chanting sutras, both listened with interest. After finishing, at their request to see Shinjuku's Golden Gai, we moved to Shinjuku.
    • 13:20-14:15 Got off at Shinjuku Station on the Marunouchi Line and walked to Shinjuku West Exit, guided them through Omoide Yokocho. From there walked under the tracks to the East Exit. Showed them the 3D cat, then the Godzilla at Hotel Gracery, then walked further to Shinjuku Golden Gai and guided them through Golden Gai. After finishing, guided them to the adjacent Hanazono Shrine. After finishing, in line with their request in the morning to see a military museum if there was one, we moved to Yasukuni Shrine and took them to the Yushukan.
    • 15:00 After guiding them through the grounds of Yasukuni Shrine, guided them to the entrance of the Yushukan, and after advising them on how to tour the museum as well as how to return to the hotel by subway, we said goodbye.

Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They were traveling together with another member of the group who did not join today's tour and spent the day separately. Since this was already their third day in Tokyo, I asked which places they had already visited and where they would still like to go. They said they wanted to experience more traditionally Japanese places, so our route covered Shiba Onshi Park, the Imperial Palace, the Tsukiji Outer Market, Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku Golden Gai, Hanazono Shrine, and the Yushukan museum at Yasukuni Shrine. When we met at the Hotel, one of the guests mentioned they would love to visit a place like a military memorial museum, so I took the group to the Yushukan at 3:00 p.m. and said goodbye there, letting them explore it at their own pace. At Hanazono Shrine, we happened to come across two Shinto priests reciting a norito prayer in front of the Inari shrine within the grounds for a group of visitors. The guests said they found this very interesting, so it was a lucky encounter. At the Tsukiji Outer Market, the guests thoroughly enjoyed the street-food stands, sampling tuna, eel, sea urchin, tamago, and more, which pleased them greatly. When we parted, they said they hoped to return to Japan around next year during the cherry blossom season, and I felt they had truly come to love Japan.

I acquired national guide license in 2014, and I have been doing guide work full fledged since 2016. In my career before starting guide work, I was a business man and made more than 1,000 business trips both abroad and in Japan, and that experience is my foundation as a guide because I came to know so many places both abroad and in Japan. I have been taking care of both group and individual tourists, and the number of foreign guests I have taken care is close to 2,500 so far. I am based in Tokyo, but I can cover guide work in many prefectures throughout Japan. When I take care of foreign guests, my major concern is to listen attentively to them, find out what they want to know and do in Japan, and give them appropriate guiding in accordance with what I heard from my guests. I would like to provide tailor made tour as much as possible for every precious guest who kindly chose Japan as the tour destination.

Can You Do a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Covering the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, Kagurazaka, and Akihabara? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. One of them travels to Japan several times a year for work, but for the rest of the group it was their first visit, except for one who had been before. Based on their request for places with historical significance, Akihabara, and spots that are not overly touristy, I guided them through the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, Kagurazaka, and Akihabara. Since one of the guests practiced Reiki and was interested in spiritual places, I included Meiji Shrine, said to be one of the most powerful spiritual spots in Tokyo. I learned that in North America Reiki is sometimes incorporated into medical settings, and one of the guests volunteers at a hospital. During this trip they also planned to visit Mount Kurama in Kyoto, said to be the birthplace of Reiki. I too learned a lot about Reiki. In Kagurazaka, I guided them not only through the back alleys but also to a local supermarket and a power-stone shop that one of the guests would likely enjoy. In Akihabara, I showed them shops that the guests would likely find interesting. We parted ways in Akihabara, and they planned to shop at their own pace afterward, pinning various spots on Google Maps. Having visited Japan many times, one of the guests said they knew the way back. I may have had them walk a bit too much, but I believe they were satisfied.

Title: What Can You See on a Private Kyoto Day Trip from Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who were staying in Tokyo and stopped in Kyoto for a day trip, deciding where to go only after we met today. They had a wonderful sense of humor and were always joking throughout the tour. They were very interested in Japanese history, and since the TV series "SHOGUN" was popular and they had watched it, they listened to my explanations very attentively. I am currently reading "SHOGUN" in paperback, which is set during the era spanning the Toyotomi period, the Battle of Sekigahara, and the Tokugawa period, so I think there may be more opportunities in the future to be asked not only about the shogun but also about the Oda and Toyotomi eras. Over lunch, I talked about karesansui dry gardens, shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine), and wabi-cha tea culture, and considered visiting Ryoanji Temple, but the guests wanted to walk among the beautiful torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine. Since they had a dinner reservation with friends in Tokyo that evening, we wrapped up a little early.

What Can You See in Sapporo Beyond the Snow Festival? A Licensed Guide's Private Tour Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since they had already seen both the Odori venue and the Susukino venue of the Snow Festival, which had begun in early February in Sapporo, I guided them to other places worth visiting in Sapporo. We had a common topic in some places I had visited in North America, so we were able to talk about many things. They had already spent a couple of days in Sapporo and had enjoyed the local gourmet food of Hokkaido, so I recommended some additional dishes worth trying. For February, the temperature was relatively mild and the wind was gentle, making it comfortable to move around and take photos outdoors.

What Is a Private Full-Day Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. Some of the group had visited Japan several times before, while it was a first visit to Japan for others in the group. On this day a strong cold front made it feel chilly all day long, but the weather was reasonably good. Because the group wished to include all of the destinations they had in mind, the tour was extended by two hours, but I was still able to see them off at the pre-booked kimono rental shop right on time. At Nishiki Market in particular, even after having lunch at a seafood restaurant, the guests enjoyed sampling street food at several shops and seemed very satisfied.

Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Sagano and Arashiyama in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests came from North America. On what turned out to be the coldest day of the year so far, I was worried about whether the Sagano walking tour would go smoothly, but the sky was clear and the sunshine was warm, so there were few problems with the tour. We took a taxi to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple and then walked the rest of the way. I tried to walk in the sunshine as much as possible, but there was ice here and there, and it felt cold. At Adashino Nenbutsu-ji Temple, the pouring of water over the six Jizo statues that I usually do could not be done because it was frozen over. One of the guests had brought three cameras and was constantly taking photographs. Especially at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple, which we visited first, so much time was spent that it seemed as if every single rakan statue would be photographed. There were many times when the other guest and I waited for the photography to finish. The place I had planned for lunch was unusually closed today, but the guests kindly said, "We had a big breakfast, so we are still fine," and after finishing all the destinations, we had lunch in Arashiyama. The photo was taken at Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Hamarikyu, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa The guests had various questions about Japanese culture. At Hamarikyu Gardens, I gave a concise explanation of the nature of Japanese civilization through the characteristics of traditional Japanese architecture. At Meiji Shrine, the guests were impressed by the serene atmosphere despite its location in the heart of the city. As the guests were true food enthusiasts, in Asakusa I explained the Kaminarimon Gate and, before visiting for prayer, introduced some hidden dishes beyond sushi and ramen, such as kamameshi and Japanese-style yakiniku. In the end, we ran out of time and I was unable to take them to the main hall, but they seemed very satisfied.

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.

Despite my experience as a guide for just two years, we can make the best out of our tour by travelling from your hotel to spots time-efficiently with my local knowledge, while accommodating your unexpected requests during the tour.
My strong area includes Yanesen; Old Temples in a Quaint Village, Kamakura, Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. All give you peace of mind.
