Title: What's a Private Kyoto Food and Culture Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. One of them had been to Japan before, while it was the first visit for the other. When I talked about history and culture, they listened patiently, but seemed to take in the explanations quickly and preferred to move on to the next thing. However, once the topic turned to food, they became remarkably talkative. They mentioned they had also enjoyed kaiseki cuisine. The guests especially loved sweets, and at Nishiki Market they snacked here and there on treats such as strawberry daifuku mochi and honey ice cream, and even bought bottled honey as a souvenir. In the end, our time came to say goodbye at Pontocho, and my final explanations covered the shops in Gion and along Sannenzaka, as well as talk of Osaka's Dotonbori, which they would visit the next day — how takoyaki and okonomiyaki are absolute must-eats in Osaka. I forgot to introduce the pork buns from 551 Horai, a soul food of the Kansai region (in Kansai, the expression "butaman" is more common than "nikuman").

Hello, this is Kazu Akiyama, your tour guide. Nice to meet you and welcome to Japan. Thank you for joining me on the tour. Now I am a retired salaried worker, living in Osaka. I have been very much interested in not only learning Japanese history, culture, religion myself, but also talking about them (sometimes going off topics) in English with tourists from all over the world as well. I am so excited being with you as your guide on coming day! I am very much looking forward to you enjoying with me visiting the must-see places and some of the hidden gems. See you soon. Thank you – Kazu Akiyama

    • 2. 09:40 @ Castle View

    • 4. 13:50 @ Himeji Castle
    • 5. 15:55 Disband @ Himeji Castle Sakuramon Bridge

What Is a Private Himeji Castle and Mount Shosha Hiking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. It was their third trip to Japan. We met at a hotel near Himeji Station, and after explaining an overview of Himeji Castle from the Castle View, we took a bus to the Higashizaka hiking course of Mount Shosha. The Mount Shosha Ropeway was suspended for regular maintenance, but at the request of the guests, who are fond of the Hollywood film "The Last Samurai," we decided to hike up to Engyoji Temple. It was another cold day. When we reached the summit of Mount Shosha on foot, there was still snow remaining in many places. At Engyoji Temple, all of the buildings except Maniden were closed, so we extended our walk to the Okunoin, which we do not usually visit. After sightseeing at Engyoji Temple, we returned by bus to the Otemae-dori street of Himeji Castle and toured the castle. The guests did seem a little tired by then, but we visited all of the main keep and small keeps, and ended the tour at the Sakuramon Bridge of Himeji Castle. It was a somewhat demanding tour, but the guests appeared to be very satisfied.

What's a Private Food and Sightseeing Tour of Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from North America, in Japan this time to attend a meeting in Tokyo. The guest seemed to have a very high level of interest in Japan and observed each spot with great enthusiasm. At Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, the guest prayed devoutly, picked up the popular "Go-Dai-Riki" pebbles, and purchased an amulet pouch as well as a "business success" charm. The guest also mentioned being very fond of Japanese food, and at Kuromon Market enjoyed "takoyaki" and "fatty tuna (o-toro)," and in Dotonbori savored genuine "Kobe beef," expressing great satisfaction. Finally, the guest wanted to try "sake," so I guided them to a shot bar in the basement food court of the Daimaru Shinsaibashi store, where we parted ways. The o-toro and Kobe beef enjoyed this time are very expensive menu items, but the guest remarked that in North America the prices are probably about four to five times higher, which was a bit surprising. As the guest would be staying in Osaka for one more day, I introduced several other dining spots, and the guest took photos and said they would definitely like to visit them. The guest also commented that next time they would love to come to Japan during "cherry blossom season."

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.

What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Since I had heard this was a special trip, I gave them a small gift, which they were pleased to receive. During the itinerary there were relatively few questions and we often moved along at a fairly quick pace, so I was a little concerned about whether they were enjoying themselves. However, at the end one of the guests told me that while the view from the approach to Kiyomizu-dera was wonderful, they were especially moved by the thousand Buddhist statues at Sanjusangendo, and that they had a very enjoyable day, which put me at ease. The other guest agreed as well, so I believe the group was satisfied. Since they had eaten a late breakfast, they said they did not need lunch, so we finished a little earlier than planned.

Thanks for joining our tour. I’m Hiro Nakagawa, assigned to be your guide for this tour. I was eligible as a National Licensed Tour Guide in 2017. I have guided many tourists from overseas since then. Japan is a beautiful country with full of various attractions. Please enjoy your time in this country to the fullest. I will help you with that. What are you interested in this country? I will introduce this country’s long history, traditional culture, beautiful seasonal highlights, and delicious food to you. Please let me know your preferences. If it’s other than which I mentioned, I’m preparing it for you as much as possible. Let’s enjoy the trip together!

Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a relaxed and easygoing group who got along well. Their request was to learn about the history of the Peace Memorial Museum and the Peace Memorial Park in detail. They asked many questions throughout the tour. However, the group needed to take frequent rest breaks, and at lunch a staff mix-up meant that the order had not gone through, which caused us to run considerably over time. The guests were very good-natured, which saved the situation. On Miyajima, we took many photos with the deer. The group also enjoyed some whisky and a gin and tonic, and spent the time in a leisurely way. Although we went over the scheduled time, I truly enjoyed the day as well. The guests were very satisfied and expressed their gratitude.

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This was the third day of an approximately two-week trip to Japan for a group visiting from North America. They mentioned that the following day they would head to Niseko in Hokkaido for a week of skiing. The day before, they had toured key spots around Tokyo by electric bike, and although this was a somewhat unconventional style, everyone in the group used SUICA cards, which made getting around smooth wherever we went. After enjoying the views of the bay area from the front car of the Yurikamome, we strolled through Toyosu Market. The Tsukiji Outer Market was quite crowded, and the guests were surprised by the number of people, but they thoroughly enjoyed a sushi lunch. Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to visit Kyoto and Hiroshima. At Meiji Shrine, they appeared deeply impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which contrasted greatly with Shibuya. They also purchased several omamori (protective charms) as souvenirs. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. In Asakusa, they were intrigued by explanations about the differences between temples and shrines. At Tokyo Tower, they seemed impressed by the magnificent views of Tokyo. Title: What's a Private Snowy-Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, visiting Japan for the first time. Snow had been falling since the morning, leaving central Kyoto almost completely white. We had originally agreed to visit Daigoji Temple, but when I mentioned that this was a rare chance to see Kinkakuji Temple covered in snow, the guests decided to change plans and go there instead. As it turned out, not only tourists but also local residents had the same idea, so the buses were even more crowded than usual. Still, the guests were delighted by the unusual and beautiful scenery. Afterward, when I explained the historical background of Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo Temple, the guests told me it was "extremely interesting." This private tour of Kyoto was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures and winner of the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from the Middle East who had originally come from Oceania. They had stayed overnight in Nikko the day before. Since they were interested in Japanese culture and history, they listened with great interest to explanations about Shinto, Buddhism, and the shogun, and asked many good questions, which made it easy to talk with them. They seemed to enjoy walking very much and walked at a fast pace. This course usually takes more than six hours, but because we moved through it faster than planned, I added a visit to the Kanaya Historical Museum. Even so, we were still a little ahead of schedule, and since they wanted to enjoy walking around the town a bit more afterward, we finished a little early near the Nishi-sando area. They said they had a wonderful time, which made me very glad.

Hello! My name is Yumi. The Nikko area, Nasu area, in Tochigi Prefecture, and Aizu and Shirakawa area in Fukushima prefecture, where I will be guiding you, are not only surrounded by beautiful nature in all four seasons but are also full of historical attractions. Nikko, in particular, is a great place to learn about the culture and history that has shaped Japan to this day. In order for you to truly enjoy your day, I am flexible to your wishes and will prepare your day to be a great day. Because I am a local guide, you will surely see some sights that are not in the guidebooks. Is local food one of your favorite parts of your trip? I am also a sushi-making instructor for foreigners, so food is one of my specialties. I am also a certified sake navigator. Why don’t you come and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with me?
