Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for First-Time Visitors? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America making their first trip to Japan. Their journey was a cruise tour covering seven countries across Asia over nearly a month starting in late February, with Japan as the final destination. After visiting various places, they had arrived in Tokyo only that morning, and they were scheduled to return home on a morning flight the following day. Since I had been told in advance that they were not able to walk very much, I kept in mind to walk slowly and, if necessary, not to be overly ambitious with the destinations. In the end, apart from one of the guests sitting and waiting rather than going all the way to the main hall of Meiji Shrine while the other guest and I walked there and back, and using a taxi to travel from Meiji Shrine to Hamarikyu, we were able to visit and see a wider variety of places than expected. Originally, I had not planned to take them to Shibuya, but as the timing worked out, we ended up having lunch in Shibuya, which happened to be on an efficient route. They enjoyed sushi at "Tsukiji Tamazushi" inside FUKURAS. The chawanmushi served before the meal seemed to be to their liking. Afterward, they were quite excited to see the robot café "Pepper Parlor" as we passed by, and they planned to tell their grandchildren about it. Of course, they were also thrilled at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. The climax was at Hamarikyu, which we entered 30 minutes before closing, where we finally came across a Somei Yoshino cherry tree in bloom—about twenty percent open—after not having encountered one until then. They were deeply moved and took many photos. They shared their thoughts, saying, "It was truly wonderful that this Tokyo tour was the final day of our long cruise tour," and "I thought this would be my first and last visit to Japan, but I want to come again." Wishing them a lovely return flight the next day, we said our goodbyes in the hotel lobby.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kinkaku-ji The guests were visitors from North America who were traveling together as friends from their university days. It was their first time in Kyoto. At Fushimi Inari Taisha, they paid their respects at the main hall and were deeply moved by the Senbon Torii (Thousand Torii Gates). They enjoyed lifting the "Omokaru Ishi" stone and touched the roots of the "Neagari no Matsu" pine while praying for good fortune. We also had an interesting discussion about the differences between Shinto and Buddhism in Japan, as well as Japanese views on religion. In Arashiyama, they appreciated the atmosphere and background of the Togetsukyo Bridge and the Oi River, and at Tenryu-ji Temple they were impressed by the Sogenchi Garden and the adjacent bamboo grove. At Kinkaku-ji, they rang the bell at the bell tower and enjoyed taking photos of the Golden Pavilion reflected on the Kyoko-chi Pond.

Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.

What Is a Private Off-the-Beaten-Path Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. One of the guests was wearing a crisp blue shirt. They happened to resemble a well-known filmmaker, so I chatted about various films, though they were not familiar with them. One of the guests had a keen interest in photography and always carried a couple of compact cameras for travel. At the group's request, the destinations were mostly lesser-known spots, which gave me the chance to experience guiding a Kyoto tour that was different from usual. They were delighted to be able to take many different photos. Since they also wished to try matcha, we finished by enjoying oshinko mochi and matcha at Hiranoya, which, while not a formal tea ceremony, was still lovely. In the quiet atmosphere, one of the guests remarked that it felt "just like being in the countryside," and they enjoyed that ambience. As they were taking the 18:00 bullet train to Tokyo, I saw them off at their hotel and we parted ways.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!

Title: What Is a Private Castle and Cherry Blossom Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, visiting Japan for the first time. We went out to a park near the castle, where I showed them several food stalls. There they bought skewered dumplings (kushi-dango). Whether they truly liked the taste is hard to say, but they finished them completely. The cherry blossoms were a little early, but the area was so crowded that movement was restricted in places. We managed to navigate around the crowds and enjoy our tour, which was wonderful. Hoping this would become a good memory of their trip, I shared many stories that I thought would interest them and took several commemorative photos at both the castle and the garden. Since this was their second day in Japan, I believe it made for a good start to their visit.

Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. I received the booking on the 24th, so we exchanged emails in a great hurry, and somehow managed to carry out the tour successfully. Since the group had arrived at their hotel the night before and were tired, we started at 10:00. Most of the group loved taking photos, so the time spent at each spot ran long, and we ended up skipping lunch and rest breaks. The guests told me that the guiding at each location was very well managed and that the stories about history and religion were extremely interesting. They said it was a great job, and we parted ways. It was indeed tiring. There was a slight haze from yellow sand, but the weather was nice and they were delighted to be able to take many good photos. They planned to stay in Tokyo for six days, and then continue on to Osaka and Kyoto.

I had coordinated closely with them in advance, and although they arrived by cruise ship, they disembarked smoothly and we were able to meet as planned at 8:30 at Itsukaichi Station. Since one of the guests preferred gluten-free meals, I was unsure about where to have lunch, but we were able to sit down and eat at a leisurely pace at a hidden local set-meal restaurant on Miyajima, which worked out well. We talked about our respective families and were able to become quite comfortable with one another. Because we were able to enter Miyajima early, we also extended our visit to Daisho-in Temple, where they were delighted to see many things. Hi, this is Mami! I am a qualified regional interpreter guide for Hiroshima Prefecture. I love guiding guests in Onomichi, a town with many Japanese heritage shrines and temples. Strolling through town is a lot of fun, as many of the renovated shops and restaurants each has its own character and design!
The breath-taking view from Mt. Takami, is a picture-perfect scene, encompassing the many islands surrounded by the tranquility of the Seto Inland Sea. The highest mountain in Mukaishima surely is a must-see spot! Many attractive outdoor activities await, including cycling along the Shimanami Kaido, sea kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding. For a more relaxing experience, Zen meditation is offered at the temples in Onomichi-city.

According to your interest, I will prepare a special itinerary for you!

Title: What's a Private One-Day Cherry Blossom Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe on their first trip to Japan, having arrived the previous night. They planned to travel to Kyoto the next day for a couple of nights, then return and board a cruise ship, visiting ports before coming back to Japan and continuing onward via Honolulu. Before the tour, I had mentioned that the cherry blossoms would likely be in full bloom, but last week's snow delayed them, so I was a little anxious. Fortunately, the Somei-Yoshino cherry trees had begun to bloom, and hanami gatherings were already taking place in Ueno Park. The area around Ueno Toshogu Shrine was about half in bloom, which delighted the guests. Sensoji Temple was extremely crowded, a complete contrast to the snowy day last week. Perhaps due to yellow dust, Tokyo Skytree looked hazy. At Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, the weeping cherry trees were in full bloom, which the guests found very satisfying. For the Shinkansen to Kyoto the next day, the guests did not have a printout of the essential QR code, so I informed them of the Shinkansen ticket gates that accept QR codes and, just in case, the location of the JR Tokai ticket window. Since the guests still had some jet lag, I saw them off at the nearest station on schedule and we parted ways. They mentioned they would be having teppanyaki on the top floor of their Hotel that evening.

I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

My guide is starting from a brief history of the site where I am going to guide. I usually add a briefing about Japanese culture based on religions, such as Shinto Shrine and Buddhist temples. A geographic background behind the history is also important.
    My course includes 4 to 5 (in 6 hours) sites from the following depending on where I will pick the guests up;
    – Senso ji Temple
    – Kappabashi Kitchenware Market
    – Tokyo Skytree
    – Ueno Park
    – Nezu Shrine
    – Imperial Palace outer park
    – Tokyo Central Station, Marunouchi historic district
    – Tsukiji Fish Market
    – Koishikawa Korakuen Garden
    – Ginza
    – Odaiba
    – Hama Rikyu Garden
    – Shinjuku Gyoen Garden
    – Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building
    – Roppongi
    – Meiji Shrine
    – Harajuku & Takeshita Street
    – Shibuya
    – and Any of your interest.

I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

I am also happy to develop any other site the guests have interest.

Title: What's a Private Cherry Blossom Tour of Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji Garden Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The cherry blossoms had just begun to bloom, and both Suizenji Garden and Kumamoto Castle were beautifully colored, so the guests were pleased to have taken some great photos. At Suizenji Garden, the guests enjoyed a green tea and sweets experience. I explained the historical significance of Kumamoto Castle in an easy-to-understand way, and the guests were pleased, saying it was a very educational tour. There was also a request to recommend some good izakaya and restaurants, so before heading to the city hall I showed them the locations in person, for which they were very grateful. It was a warm and friendly tour, with a little Japanese mixed in from time to time.

I worked for KUMAMOTO Prefecture as a local government officer. Most of my work was tourism promotion in Kumamoto. Now I retired, I love Kumamoto and I wish you also love Kumamoto after the tour.
I like sports activities, running, trekking, cycling and hiking. If you are interested in such activities, you’ll know another face of Japan.
Of course, I am good at history and geography in Japan. I can explain why the events were occurred as an interesting story.
I traveled not only Japan, but many oversea countries. I know what international visitors want and worry. I guarantee your happy trip in Japan. And I hope you’ll like Japan more and more.

What Can You See on a Private Nara Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Naramachi and Nara Park The guest visited Japan from Europe, touring several cities including Tokyo, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka. Having heard in advance about an interest in antique masks, I searched online for places in Nara where they could be purchased. I also inquired with the Nara city office and found that they were available at the Nara Crafts Museum, so after visiting the Naramachi Lattice House, I guided the guest to the museum. However, perhaps because the prices were higher than expected, nothing was purchased. Today was again as warm as early summer. The cherry blossom buds are almost ready to swell. For now, plum blossoms are still the main attraction. Since the guest's native language was French, there were some moments when conversation was a little difficult, but we were able to complete the tour without any problems. Many Japanese tourists were also visiting, giving a sense of the travel season. The photo was taken at Nara Park.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.
