    What Is a Private Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Itsukushima and Mount Misen The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had roots in various parts of Asia, and as fellow visitors familiar with Asian cultures, we shared many common topics, such as being able to read kanji and talking about the region, which made the tour very enjoyable. During my explanation at Senjokaku, one of the guests, who had lived in Asia in early childhood, was familiar with Toyotomi Hideyoshi and touched on the history of past invasions, and I was reminded once again that there are many different perspectives depending on a guest's origins and background. When I talked about the eternal flame on Mount Misen, I explained that drinking water boiled with that flame is said to cure all kinds of illnesses, and I joked that it means no doctors would be needed. Since some of the guests worked in medicine, we shared a laugh about how that might put them out of work, which I found very interesting.

    Title: What's a Private Walking Tour from Harajuku to Shibuya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. This was the first day of a two-day tour. Although the original plan was to visit Akihabara, during our walk from Harajuku to Shibuya we decided instead to focus on trying street food and browsing shops. One of the guests was very proactive, finding shops of interest on Google Maps and stopping by them along the way. At a brand store in Omotesando, the selection and prices seemed good, and a favorite pair of shoes was found at CHANEL, but the size was out of stock, so I suggested trying Isetan in Shinjuku the next day if there was time. As the guests seemed tired, they returned to their hotel from Shibuya a little early by taxi.

    Before becoming a tour guide, I worked for a major steelmaking company as an engineer for many years. During my career, I lived and worked in both Germany and the United States for a total of five years.     What Is a Private Cruise Port Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited from Europe by cruise ship. Since Hiroshima was the first port of call, I anticipated that immigration procedures might take some time, so I prepared several plans for the tour. In the end, immigration went more smoothly than expected, and we were able to meet almost exactly on schedule. The ship was a large vessel carrying around 2,000 passengers, so I expected significant crowds at the Peace Memorial Museum and Itsukushima Shrine. To prepare, I researched the schedules of the group bus tours in advance and arranged our itinerary so that it would not overlap with the bus tour routes. Thanks to this, the guests were able to enjoy both sites relatively comfortably. The guests were very pleasant, and they were delighted at each place we visited, making it a truly enjoyable tour.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. The booking initially started with a smaller number, but the group size increased over time. I had sent my photo in advance, and the guests had also sent theirs, so we were able to meet each other right away at the meeting point. Upon arriving at Miyajima, the group requested a one-hour extension, and since it was possible to change the return ferry reservation, I accepted. They paid an additional fee of 4,000 yen for the extra hour. Itsukushima Shrine was in a low-tide period, but everyone was deeply moved by the scenery of Itsukushima Shrine and Miyajima. Luckily, the cherry blossoms had also begun to bloom, and everyone was delighted. The guests told me it was a very enjoyable and wonderful tour, and I was very happy that it became a good memory for them and that they enjoyed it. At times, the members of the group became separated from one another, and I learned that during busy seasons in particular I need to pay careful attention to keeping the group together.

    What Does a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Meiji Shrine The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. They arrived at Narita Airport the previous night and made their way to the hotel by transferring trains. The night before, they had strolled around Ginza and enjoyed some ramen. This time they are staying in Japan for two weeks, with only three days in Tokyo. After that, they plan to travel to Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima before returning to Tokyo and heading home. They had often traveled to Europe in the past, but this was their first visit to a country in Asia. The tour took place under fairly pleasant weather. We started at Asakusa. As always, it was extremely crowded. I explained about "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what a five-story pagoda is," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There was a further question: "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" They drew an omikuji fortune and purchased an omamori charm. We strolled through the Nakamise shopping street, and they bought a "tenugui" hand towel as a souvenir. Next we moved to Tsukiji. As usual, there was a large crowd. I explained about "the history of the fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji outer market." We wandered around looking at various shops. There were also questions such as "Why are there so many people here?" and "Do all people in Tokyo come here to buy fish?" Since there was a strong wish to eat sushi right here, we had an early lunch at "Tsukiji Sushisei, Tsukiji Shinkan." Incidentally, one of the guests enjoys fishing as a hobby. From here we went to Harajuku and Meiji Shrine. We first took a commemorative photo in front of the great torii gate. I explained about "what Shinto is," "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto," "the history of Edo and the Meiji Restoration," "about Emperor Meiji," and "about the Japanese Imperial family." They said, "It's wonderful that there is such a green park in the center of the city." We happened to come across a wedding procession and took photos. We took a leisurely stroll along Takeshita Street. They eagerly took photos of the "dog cafe" and "pig cafe," saying, "The younger ones in our family love animals, so we'd love to bring them next time." They also commented, "Japanese people are all so polite," "The streets are clean with no litter scattered around," "It's so quiet inside the subway," and "The public restrooms are clean and pleasant." I saw them off at Shimbashi Station, and the tour concluded.

    As a recent group travel record, in October 2023, we have a track record of guiding a group of 33 people from Singapore to Narita Airport transfer plus sightseeing in Tokyo.
    Self-introduction:
    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

They mentioned that after sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to go on a cruise tour. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was very different from Shibuya. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they seemed impressed by the early-blooming cherry blossoms and the beautiful Japanese garden. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines. Since the Hotel was near Toyosu Market, we first took the Yurikamome line to Toyosu Station, and after the guest purchased a common one-day subway pass, we began the tour. As the East Gardens were closed that day, I guided the guest on foot from Wadakura Fountain Park to Tokyo Station, and the weeping cherry blossoms along the inner moat and the Tokyo Station building were both very well received. The guest strongly wished to visit Tokyo Skytree, so I had reserved tickets in advance, but perhaps because the Hotel was far away, we used more time than expected getting there, so I kept my explanation at Senso-ji brief to make it in time for the reservation. At Skytree, the guest seemed overwhelmed by the view of Tokyo, and we spent a good amount of time there as well. The guest had asked me to take them to Ginza at the end of the tour, but they had taken a liking to the atmosphere of Asakusa, so in the end we returned to Asakusa once more. After showing the guest how to get back to Toyosu, we parted ways.

    Title: What's a 6-Hour Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji, and Asakusa The guests were visitors from North America. Both were deeply interested in Japanese culture and history, and at the Imperial Palace they were fascinated by the story of Edo Castle, the Emperor, the shoguns, and the events leading up to the Meiji Restoration, asking many questions along the way. During the tour, one of the guests, curious about Japanese bread, tried anpan and melon pan, and the group was delighted with both. At Tsukiji they enjoyed ichigo daifuku and dashi soup, and purchased ninja snacks and dashi packs as souvenirs. They loved fish and were very interested in the fish market as well. From Nezu Shrine (unfortunately the azaleas were not yet in bloom) we walked along Hebi-michi, and passing by a care facility, we had an extended conversation about Japan's world-leading average life expectancy, its aging population rate, and long-term care insurance. For lunch they enjoyed sushi at a restaurant reserved in advance, and in Asakusa they happily purchased a slightly higher-end pair of chopsticks. To make the most of the six hours, I had arranged in advance to end the tour in Asakusa, after which I guided them to the Ginza Line platform and concluded the tour. (They wished to return on their own to the station nearest their hotel, Akasaka-mitsuke, without any transfers.) It was a warm and enjoyable tour from start to finish, and I truly enjoyed guiding them.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Nara Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Temples and Deer Park The guests were visiting Japan from North America. They had heard from family who traveled to Japan last year that Nara was fascinating, which inspired this tour. They also expressed a strong interest in the architecture of Japanese temples and shrines. I explained Yakushiji Temple, including the East Pagoda, an elegant three-story pagoda that appears to have more levels due to its decorative mokoshi eaves, and the reconstructed "Ryugu-style temple complex." I also introduced the National Treasure statue of Yakushi Nyorai, along with the Nikko and Gakko Bodhisattvas. It was a series of moving experiences for the guests. At Toshodaiji Temple, which remains almost exactly as it was in its original era and where everything is a National Treasure, they were amazed by the raised-floor azekura log storehouse construction. At the Heijo Palace site, I guided them through the reconstructed Suzakumon Gate and the replica of a Japanese envoy ship to Tang China. Walking through Kofukuji Temple, we headed to Nara Park. "Our family told us we absolutely had to experience this," the guests said, enjoying it with childlike delight. For lunch we had tonkatsu and katsu curry. At Todaiji Temple, I explained the uniquely Japanese bracket complexes that support the heavy roof tiles, and they were astonished by the Great Buddha. We walked to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, where I explained the differences between Buddhism and Shinto, and the architectural differences between temples and shrines.

    My name is Shuji, meaning “Excellent Manager” in English. I was born in Hiroshima 1952. I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
    After graduating Kyoto Univ. I joined Mitsubishi-UFJ Bank, Osaka Branch where I met my wife who was a master of Englsih, so I started studying English.
    The bank allowed me to go to Columbia Graduate business school in New York and got MBA Degree there. I worked in London and Manchester Branch.
    During staying in U.K., I was introduced by BBC and Financial Times News Paper about my achievement there. I was selected as a personal assistant and interpreter for the President of the Bank.
    I made many business trips with him to overseas countries. I experienced as an interpreter for meeting late Henry Kissinger and the President of Citi. Corp.
    I changed the job to ORIX corporation, there I was promoted to a Board Member. When the company had acquired Dutch company, I was a member as an accountant to check the Dutch company’s statements of accounts.
    My hobbies are cooking, singing a song, playing tennis & golf, enjoy seeing arts especially opera & musical, travel. I am also busy with taking care of grandchildren. I passed Government Licensed Guide Exam. in 2016. After I retired in 2017, I started guide job as a part timer. So far, I accomplished guide job more than 500 times.
    My area coverage is from Tokyo, Hakone, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji to Kyoto, Nara, Oaka, Hiroshima. I am also able to guide Tea Ceremony, Maiko/Geisha, Sushi Making, Calligraphy, Sumo, Samurai, etc. I can speak excellent English.
