Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like Away From the Crowds? A Licensed Guide's Report During the pre-tour consultation, we decided to avoid crowded areas such as Asakusa, and instead visited the open spaces of the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and Koishikawa Korakuen early in the day, which I believe the guests truly enjoyed. Since the guests love eating and requested a lunch spot with fewer tourists, I recommended a Japanese lunch near Daimon, and they were very pleased with it. Throughout the tour, a wide variety of questions came from the guests in turn as we walked, and the conversation never paused between explanations and answers, which was also a great learning experience for me. The tour ended at the Meiji Jingu Rest House, and the guests were happy to have learned so much about Japan. Afterward, since they were heading to Shibuya and it was on my way home as well, I accompanied them to the Scramble Crossing before saying goodbye. What Is a Private Kyoto Family Tour Like in Cherry Blossom Season? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from North America for a family trip. It was their first visit to Japan. Although they were traveling with a young child, the child enjoyed walking, so we were able to get around almost entirely without a stroller. It was a wonderful season, and the guests were delighted to be able to see the cherry blossoms. I introduced them to the evening illumination at Nijo Castle. None of them had been to Japan before, and they were very fond of Japanese food, enjoying places serving gyudon, curry, and tsukemen. They had also hoped to visit the Philosopher's Path, but since I had told them there might not be enough time, it seems they had gone there on their own the previous day.

Hi there, I’m Yuka. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I live in an onsen (hot spring) town in Hyogo prefecture. When I was working at Narita international airport as well as living in Bangkok Thailand for about 10 years, I really loved talking with people from various countries. After I came back to Japan, I got interested in guiding my beautiful country to people from abroad then I got the national guide license. I’m now working as a tour leader visiting mainly Tokyo, Hakone, Takayama, Hiroshima, Himeji and Kyoto for about 2 years. I’d like to introduce my country to you as your local friend in Japan. Hope to see you soon.

Title: What's a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like in Cherry Blossom Season? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, and since it was their first time in Japan, I asked about various requests in advance and was able to provide a plan tailored to their wishes. On the day, they expressed a desire to visit a micro-pig cafe in Harajuku, so I adjusted the route slightly to include it. They enjoyed it very much. At Shinjuku Gyoen, the cherry blossoms had just come into bloom, and we took many commemorative photos. After visiting Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, I guided them to a reserved restaurant themed around a sumo stable in Asakusa, where we said goodbye.

What Is a Private Full-Day Tour of Asakusa and Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Due to a flight delay, the tour was carried out one day later than originally scheduled. Overall, I believe the guests enjoyed it. They had planned a kimono and matcha experience at a cultural studio beforehand, so I waited outside during that time (I was actually invited to join, but the venue was fully booked). As a result, the tour ran one hour longer, and we completed the planned itinerary. The guests could not eat pork or shellfish, but the vegetable tempura at a well-known tempura restaurant was a great fit, and they even asked about how it was prepared. Since tempura happens to be one of my areas of expertise (laughs), I explained it and we had a pleasant time. At the end, once we arrived at a coffee shop, I explained the way back and we parted ways. Later I received a message letting me know they had returned safely to their hotel. It is always a bit difficult to bring up extension fees, so I did not charge for it this time either, but I think it would be helpful if this were explained at the time of booking.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 13:30: Guide through Ryoan-ji
    • 14:30: Guide through Arashiyama (Bamboo Grove)
    • 15:30: Disband @ Kyoto Station

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and Arashiyama Continuing with the same guests from the previous day, we met at the Hotel and, after reviewing today's itinerary there, set off by subway to Nijo Castle. At Nijo Castle, I guided the guests while explaining the relationships between Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, Mitsuhide, and Ieyasu of the Warring States period, describing the world of gekokujo (the lower overthrowing the higher). Since the Tokugawa era shares some parallels with the founding of North America, the guests responded well and seemed to find it easy to understand when I focused on that point. After showing them the Ninomaru and Honmaru areas, we moved by bus toward Kinkaku-ji. After arriving at Kinkaku-ji by way of a crowded bus, I toured the site while explaining Yoshimitsu's role as shogun, his promotion of trade with China, and his contribution to the development of Japanese culture. Out of consideration for the condition of one of the guests, we took a taxi from Kinkaku-ji to Ryoan-ji. At Ryoan-ji, the guests showed great interest as I explained the rock garden with a focus on "wabi-sabi" and zazen meditation. From Ryoan-ji we traveled by the Randen tram to Arashiyama. As one of the guests began to show signs of fatigue, I skipped the planned visit to Tenryu-ji and focused only on the bamboo grove while guiding them around Arashiyama. Then, as the end of the guiding time approached, we left Arashiyama and headed to Kyoto Station, where I was asked to recommend a restaurant for dinner. I introduced a food court within the station building, and we parted ways.

After a rather long teaching experience at Japanese college, I converted my career about 6 years ago into working as a tour guide for the tourists visiting Japan.
As my career overseas, I’ve been in the UN and the Japanese Embassy, all in the USA, totaling more than 6 years.
And then I had made a big change in my career from a diplomat to an academic researcher. For that career to achieve, I studied abroad and won a doctorate degree in linguistics from Indiana University and landed a teaching position at college in Japan.
With all these interesting and exciting experiences I’ve made myself ready to enrich your tour and make it both enjoyable and worthwhile.

What Is a Private Nagoya Castle Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report At the Nagoya Port ticket gate, since there was a line to buy tickets, I purchased them at the station attendant's counter so we could depart sooner. At Nagoya Castle, the guests listened attentively to stories about the shogun and about ninjas. The guests were from Europe and were well acquainted with the region, so they spoke to me very kindly. In particular, at the Honmaru Palace of Nagoya Castle, the guests took interest in each and every room and listened to the explanations. It was a very warm and sunny day, which was nice, though it grew a little hot and one of the guests became somewhat tired.

Hey there, I’m Masami Maeda, and I’m all about guiding you through some incredible adventures! Teaching English at high school was cool and all, but I craved something more exciting. That’s when I discovered my love for guiding.
Traveling is my jam. I’ve spent years soaking up the vibes in the US and the UK. In fact, I even did a stint at Warwick University, where I got totally hooked on Drama and Theatre Education. It was like stepping into a whole new world!
When I’m not busy showing folks around, you’ll find me doing all sorts of things. Ballet classes? Yep, I’m there. And I’m a huge fan of Japanese rakugo – both watching and performing. It’s a blast!
My style of guiding? Think of it as a mix of storytelling and cultural immersion. I want you to feel like you’re really part of the places we visit, not just an onlooker. Let’s dive deep into the heart of each destination and uncover the hidden gems together.
So, if you’re up for an adventure filled with laughter, learning, and maybe a few surprises along the way, then I’m your guide! Let’s make some unforgettable memories together!

What Is a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and Asakusa I met the guests at their hotel in Akasaka and first took them to Meiji Shrine. After that, we moved to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, and finally I took them to Asakusa. In Asakusa, we had lunch at a restaurant, and then we walked around to see Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Shopping Street, Hozomon Gate, the main hall of Senso-ji Temple, and the five-story pagoda. We enjoyed oshiruko at a shop on Nakamise Shopping Street before parting ways at Asakusa Station. The guests were very interested in Japanese history, culture, and current social affairs, so I explained a variety of topics such as the history of the Tokugawa shogunate and the Imperial family, modernization from the Meiji era onward, and recent social conditions since the collapse of the economic bubble, and they were very pleased.

During the magic box presentation at the local shop, the guests applauded many times and were full of admiration. They made a variety of purchases. What Is a Private Miyajima Island Tour from Hiroshima Cruise Terminal Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The pickup was scheduled for 10:00 at the Hiroshima Cruise Terminal, but I was able to meet the guests at 11:10. Many travelers were unable to clear immigration at the scheduled time, and some guests were unable to make their tours at all. My guests kept me updated on the immigration situation aboard the ship via a messaging app as needed, so we were able to meet without any problems. (This suggested some issues with the customs clearance process.) Right after disembarking, the guests seemed somewhat dissatisfied with the immigration procedures, but they kindly expressed their apologies to me. The actual island sightseeing time was 1.5 hours, but the guests appeared very satisfied. I was relieved as well.

What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group who often travel, and this time they gathered together in Japan. They were enjoying their reunion after a long time apart. Since they wished to take the ropeway, I was a little concerned about time management, but thanks to the early meeting time of 7:30, we were able to view the museum smoothly without any crowds, and the ropeway ride went well too, so the schedule was never delayed. They were deeply moved and shocked at the museum. On Miyajima, in addition to okonomiyaki for lunch, they also enjoyed ice cream, onigiri, and sweets. After the tour, they wanted to go shopping on Hondori, so I had them take a taxi at Nishi-Hiroshima Station and ended the tour there.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!
