    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had arrived in Japan a couple of days earlier and, the previous day, had explored Yanaka and the Tsukiji Outer Market on their own. Since they would be staying in Tokyo for a few more days, I had them experience firsthand how to use the JR lines and the subway so they would understand the differences. We first headed to Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple, where they were surprised by the large number of tourists but still enjoyed the visit. As they wanted to try a variety of local foods, they sampled many items from the street stalls and had a great time. Next, at the Imperial Palace, I focused on explaining the Imperial Family and its connection to Japanese history. Then in Shinjuku, they enjoyed the 3D cat billboard and the Godzilla statue. Unfortunately, the tour took place in the rain, but at Meiji Shrine I explained Shinto, and finally in Shibuya I guided them to the famous crossing. As they wished to stay and continue enjoying the area on their own, we ended the tour there.

    What's a Private Tokyo Walking Tour of Meiji Shrine and Asakusa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. It was their third day in Japan, and they already had Mobile Suica cards. Having taken a guided tour toward Kamakura the previous day, they seemed somewhat accustomed to riding Japanese trains. At Meiji Shrine, they were surprised to find such a quiet, green, and lush forest in the middle of the vast metropolis of Tokyo. I gave them a lecture on how to worship, and they experienced it themselves. On the train to Asakusa, I explained the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism in Japan. After arriving, we strolled around Kaminarimon, Nakamise, Sensoji Temple, and Asakusa Shrine. We had ramen for lunch, and parted ways after leaving the restaurant. It was a rainy and chilly day, but as they were used to walking in the rain, it seemed they enjoyed the tour.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji, and a Tea Ceremony I met the guests from Oceania at their hotel, confirmed the itinerary we had arranged in advance once more, and then set off for sightseeing in an arranged Hiace vehicle. Despite the light rain, I guided the group around Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion). While explaining the shogun Yoshimitsu, I introduced topics such as the burning of Kinkaku-ji, bonsai, and the Ryumon waterfall, and in front of the tea room I spoke about "chanoyu" (the tea ceremony) and the Japanese sense of beauty that grew from it, which the guests listened to with great interest. In particular, one of the guests had extensive knowledge of Japanese culture and asked many questions. After Kinkaku-ji, the guests wanted ramen for lunch, so we stopped by a nearby ramen shop, but the wait was long. We moved to another Japanese restaurant, but the wait there was also long, so we gave up on lunch and finally had the guests grab a light meal along the approach to Ginkaku-ji before I guided them around Ginkaku-ji (the Silver Pavilion). Finding a place for lunch during the travel season is always a challenge. At Ginkaku-ji the rain grew heavier, and although it was a little early for the tea ceremony experience scheduled for 4:00, we headed to Ninen-zaka, the location of the experience, taking traffic congestion into account. We checked in at the Camellia tea house, and the group parted ways there. The guests were all cheerful, and I was able to share a wonderful day with them.

    What's a Private Instagram Photo Tour of Tokyo and Shibamata Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. As this was an Instagram-focused tour, I guided them to the spots they had requested: Hie Shrine, Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Street, Taishakuten Temple, and the former Yamamoto residence. At each spot, they seemed to capture the images they had envisioned and appeared very satisfied. On Takeshita Street, they filmed a lovely video of stretching a rainbow cheese sandwich, smiling and moving to the rhythm as they ate. They really enjoyed the kusa dango rice dumplings in Shibamata and said they wanted to bring them all the way home to North America. The former Yamamoto residence was a place that one of the guests especially wanted to visit, and they sat on the tatami and quietly admired the garden. They had researched thoroughly in advance, and I found their respectful attitude toward Japanese culture truly wonderful.

During my career, I lived and worked in both Germany and the United States for a total of five years.     I currently live in Tokyo, but I was born and raised in Kobe, near Osaka, and my family roots are in Kyoto.     What Is a Rainy-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kyoto Imperial Palace It took quite a while to receive a reply from the guests. On top of that, the weather forecast was rain, which made this a very nerve-wracking trip for me as a beginner. Initially, the guests had requested lunch at a tea house. When I inquired with the tea house on their behalf, I was told that guests needed to make an online reservation directly, so I contacted the guests, but I only received their response the day before the tour. The itinerary was based on the guests' wishes and included Fushimi Inari Taisha, Tenryu-ji Temple, the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and the Kyoto Imperial Palace — all excellent sightseeing spots. Although the weather was poor, the guests had a cheerful disposition and were very pleased. Despite the rain, thanks to the cooperation of a very experienced driver, it became an enjoyable trip that the guests were delighted with.

While Seiryuji Temple and WA RASSE were crowded with international visitors, the guests seemed to greatly enjoy the quiet atmosphere around the Hakkoda Maru. A Licensed Guide's Report on Namba, Shinsaibashi, and Osaka Castle I contacted the local travel agency several times, but I was unable to reach the guests by email or messaging app until the day of the tour. On the day, the group arrived about 15 minutes late from Kyoto. Eight people had been expected, but the group consisted of six. After discussing with them, we started the tour with a plan to visit Namba, Shinsaibashi, and Osaka Castle. They also mentioned that they would like to finish earlier than the scheduled tour time. While I was guiding them from Namba to Shinsaibashi, they said they would like to have ramen and then do their own shopping, so it would be fine to end the tour early. During the tour, they enjoyed strawberry sweets and pork buns. I recommended a good ramen restaurant and a place where they could enjoy matcha, and then concluded the tour.

    Hello, my name is Mizuho Yoshikawa. Please call me Mizu and my name means rice and water in Japanese.
    I’ve been a tour guide more than 200 times since the spring of 2023 in Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama and Kochi. My tour is always original and new, depending on the guest’s preferences, encounters, seasons and weather.
    In Kyoto, one of my tours is to climb Mt. Kurama. It is about 1 hour from the city of Kyoto by train, it is a very quiet and beautiful mountain.
    In Osaka, which is called the kitchen of Japan, I am also in charge of food tour.
    In Nara, in addition to the Great Budda Hall, I guide guests to the temple with a really great view and Japanese wine, sake tasting.
    Every city has a unique charming point.
    The motto of my guiding is ” Ichigo Ichie” Once in a lifetime or seize the day. I learn this concept that the moment will never be the same again through tea ceremonies.
    I like a tea ceremony that is part of the traditional Japanese culture and embodies the spirit of “omotenashi” or hospitality. Through the tea ceremony, we can feel the spirit of “omotenashi” that has been passed down to us from ancient times.
    And I like to travel abroad and domestically, and I have been to 13 overseas countries and most of the prefectures in Japan. Traveling always gives me a new perspective, which is exciting and thrilling. Nowadays, we can learn a lot from the Internet, but traveling teaches us that it is important to have direct experience. When I travel, I feel that my five senses are infinitely expanded, and through my tour, I help all guests to have the same feeling in Japan.
    I was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is next to Tokyo Prefecture in eastern Japan. When I was little, I could see Mount Fuji from my backyard. There was also a rice field nearby, and I grew up listening to the croaking of frogs. Listening to the frogs and seeing the mountains made me feel very calm.
    I moved to the city of Kobe, one of the Kansai areas in western Japan, which includes Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and so on. I’m not from the Kansai area of western Japan, but I think that makes me sensitive to the differences between that area and the Kanto area, Tokyo, where I grew up.
    Speaking of Kobe, you might be thinking of Kobe beef. Of course you do. There are also other sake breweries in Nada in Kobe. You can also go from Kobe city to Himeji Castle, also known as the White Egret Castle, which was the first in Japan to be listed as a World Heritage Site in 1993.

The group was deeply moved by the snowy scenery of the Tsugaru Plain seen from the train window; in May, rice planting begins there. Mount Iwaki, which resembles the shape of Mount Fuji, is very beautiful. Thanks to the meltwater after the snow and delicious rice, the Tsugaru region has many sake breweries. One of the guests happened to share a name with a famous British clothing store, which also has a shop in Hirosaki City! The guests wished to visit Zenrin-gai, so we strolled through the area.     Title: What Can You See on a Private Cruise-Port Day Trip in Osaka? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America on a cruise ship, traveling in Japan and Korea for the first time. The cherry blossoms at Osaka Castle were nearly in full bloom, and the guests were deeply impressed by the rows of cherry trees lining the outer moat, taking many photos. At the main keep, we looked out over the vast castle grounds and moats and discussed the fall of the Toyotomi family, including the Summer Siege of Osaka. The guests were also struck by the contrast between the rows of buildings in the Osaka cityscape and Osaka Castle. At the Kondo Hall of Shitennoji Temple, a relic ceremony was being held, and everyone put their hands together in prayer to receive blessings. After enjoying okonomiyaki at Kuromon Market, we strolled through Dotonbori and I saw the guests off at Osaka Port.     What's a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, currently based in Asia, and this was their first visit to Japan. Since they had requested in advance to learn how to purchase Shinkansen and limited express train tickets, I first took them to the ticket office at Tokyo Station and explained the purchasing process (though we did not buy tickets, as it was crowded). They also mentioned that they enjoy hojicha and asked me to take them somewhere they could buy it, so I guided them to "Morinoen," a long-established hojicha shop in Ningyocho. The weather was pleasant, and I believe the guests were satisfied with the tour overall.
