    Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shukkeien, Okonomiyaki, and the Ferry to Miyajima The guests were university students visiting from Europe. The booking was made two days before the tour, and after one email there was no message about the Shinkansen arrival time, so I was a little worried, but the guests contacted me on the morning of the tour to say they would arrive at the reserved time, and we were able to start the tour as planned. Since it was very hot, we tried to use the bus as much as possible while getting around. The guests said they had traveled from Europe to the Middle East, then to Asia before coming to Japan, so they had gotten used to the heat. At Shukkeien Garden they took many photos, and they were delighted that the weather was clear and that the contrast between the color of the sky and the garden was beautiful. Right after we met at Hiroshima Station, the guests said they also wanted to go to Miyajima after the tour, so after Shukkeien we went to buy ferry tickets and then had lunch. The guests were very impressed with the okonomiyaki I recommended for lunch, and they said it was the most delicious meal they had eaten on this trip. They asked the restaurant staff and filmed a video of the okonomiyaki being made. They said they wanted to be able to make it themselves so they could eat it again after returning home. The museum was very crowded, but there was not much of a line, so the guests saw the highlights, and I guided them to the ferry terminal for Miyajima, ending the tour.

    Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Yanaka, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe, both on their first trip to Japan. The night before, they had arrived at Haneda Airport via a connecting flight, then taken a taxi to their accommodation (a B&B with an attached public bathhouse). This time they were on a two-week trip to Japan, spending four days in Tokyo, then traveling to Kyoto, Hida-Takayama, and Mount Fuji, before returning to Tokyo and flying home. The next day they planned a day trip to Kamakura. Both guests were big fans of Japan. It was a tour under clear skies and intense summer heat. They said they disliked crowds and wished to visit places not usually frequented by ordinary tourists. First, we went from Nippori Station to Yanaka Ginza. I explained the origins and history of "Fujimizaka" and "Yanaka Ginza." For some reason, there were many visitors from overseas. The guests commented, "It feels nostalgic," and "We're happy to experience the atmosphere of old Tokyo." Next, we went to Nezu Shrine. I explained the history of Nezu Shrine, as well as Shinto and torii gates. They asked questions such as "What kind of teaching is Shinto?", "When did Shinto originate?", and "How many shrines are there in Japan?" We then moved to Harajuku and visited Meiji Shrine. Again, I explained about Shinto, torii gates, Emperor Meiji, and why wine barrels are displayed there. They also asked, "What kind of teaching is Buddhism?" and "How do Buddhism and Shinto differ?" Because of the extreme heat, we took a break for a while at the cafe terrace at Meiji Shrine. After strolling along Takeshita Street, we headed to Shibuya. First, we took photos looking down at Scramble Square from the entrance to the Keio Inokashira Line platform, then actually crossed the scramble intersection. They asked, "Why do so many people gather here?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. They commented and asked, "Japanese people are all so quiet and polite," "The city is clean with no litter on the ground," and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" At their request to be taken to Ginza, I escorted them to Ginza Station, where we parted ways.

    What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Shinjuku Gyoen, and Meiji Shrine The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. This was a two-week trip to Japan, with four days in Tokyo. After Tokyo, they planned to travel to Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara before returning to Tokyo and then heading home. They had also planned a day trip to Mount Fuji the following day. Both were big fans of Japan. The tour took place under clear skies in intense heat. First, we went to Asakusa. As always, it was crowded with large numbers of visitors. We started from in front of Kaminarimon Gate. I explained about "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what the five-story pagoda is for," "what Buddhism is," and "the differences between Buddhism and Shinto." We took a commemorative photo in front of Kaminarimon and strolled slowly along the Nakamise shopping street. There were questions such as "What are the major religions in Japan?", "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", and "Besides Buddhism, what other religions do people follow?" Unable to bear the sunlight, the guests purchased a parasol. We then moved to Shinjuku Gyoen (there had been a request to "see a Japanese garden, since there aren't any where we live"). Inside the Japanese garden, they took photos in many spots, and commented that "in Japan there is so much greenery, so it's very relaxing." Next we moved to Harajuku and visited Meiji Shrine. I explained about "Shinto," "the torii gate," "Emperor Meiji," and "why wine barrels are displayed there." There were questions such as "What kind of teachings does Shinto have?", "When did Shinto originate?", and "How many shrines are there in Japan?" Because of the extreme heat, we rested for a while at the cafe terrace at Meiji Shrine.     What Is a First-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report This was the first day of a first-visit-to-Japan tour for a group from North America. From the meeting point in the hotel lobby on the 39th floor, we were surprised to see Mount Fuji in its summer appearance. We started at the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, which we could reach on foot, and the guests were amazed by the quietness in the middle of a huge metropolis. Since the start time of the "Goma fire ritual" was just right, we headed toward Fukagawa Fudodo Temple, but it took some time to withdraw cash from an ATM to purchase a PASMO card, so we arrived at the temple only just in time. We were surprised to learn that an admission fee for foreign visitors had started being collected in July, but the guests were deeply moved by the Goma fire ritual.

Since it was a very hot day, I planned the tour to avoid walking for long stretches, incorporating some shortcuts along the way. The mineral salt tablets I had brought were well received by the guests, who said they wanted to buy some themselves. As I happened to have extra, I gave them the rest, and they were very pleased.

    What's a Private Nikko Day Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, a region where I had previously lived, so we had a lively conversation. One of the guests was studying Japanese and was trying out various phrases on their own. The guests also seemed very interested in Japan and listened attentively to explanations about history, nodding along with understanding. However, because it was hot and I was concerned about heatstroke, I made an effort to give explanations in advance while we were in cooler places and to keep my talks as simple as possible. Since it was a hot season, I had mentioned that it would be better to start in the cool morning hours, and perhaps because of that, the guests arrived by taxi earlier than the meeting time and were waiting for me. (They were staying in the Kinugawa area.) Thanks to this, we were able to enjoy the garden before it got crowded and avoid the busy lunchtime, so we were able to get around very smoothly. That said, since it was hot, we occasionally went indoors or into the shade, cooled off with the ice packs I had brought, and enjoyed Nikko's famous natural-ice shaved ice during the hot afternoon hours. With the cooperation and understanding of the guests, we were able to spend the day safely.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America, making the most of a stopover of a few hours during their travels. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) arranged this short private tour of Tokyo. We started at Meiji Shrine in time for its opening hour. Next, at Takeshita Street in Harajuku, the guests were surprised to see cafes featuring mini pigs and otters. While strolling through the Yanaka, Nezu, and Sendagi area, one of the guests appeared quite tired, having not slept for 24 hours. We then headed back toward Haneda Airport.

    What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a hot day. The guests wanted to see old and traditional architecture, so after meeting in Shinjuku, I guided them through Ueno Park, and then to the Tokyo National Museum, which has exhibits related to samurai. It was nice to be in a cool indoor space. The guests were satisfied with the exhibits and asked many questions. I also took them to the museum's garden, though it was nothing special. In Asakusa, they wanted to know about places for dinner in the evening, so I showed them some options. At Meiji Shrine, I guided them to the garden they had requested and explained the differences from Western gardens. The tour ended at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing.

    What Is a Private Group Tour in Japan Like With Last-Minute Changes? A Licensed Guide's Report Although we had repeatedly discussed the itinerary in advance and had nearly finalized the plan, including confirming and reserving the lunch location, there was a major change request on the day of the tour. It was a group of guests, and on the day I could see that the leader seemed to have a hard time bringing together the opinions of all the members. Even so, I confirmed that changes on the day would be fine as long as everyone in the group agreed, and after obtaining everyone's consent, we made the changes, canceled the restaurant reservation, and responded flexibly. One of the guests needed extra support, so I stayed by their side throughout to assist, and they were very grateful. The guests seemed very satisfied that we responded flexibly to the changes made on the day. This was a case that reminded me that if the guests enjoy the tour, that is what matters most.

    I have been guiding in Okinawa since 2008! I love guiding visitors around Okinawa because I have been interested in a unique history and culture of Okinawa, which are very different from those of mainland Japan. Also how can I resist introducing tourists to amazing natural wonders of Okinawa including lush green subtropical rain forest, unbelievably clear beautiful sea and underwater world, and heavenly beautiful starry sky?

    I love the peace-loving spirit of Okinawa. Okinawa is the birthplace of karate. I take karate lessons twice a week as I have been impressed by the karate spirit: “the spirit focusing not on winning, but rather on not losing; of not attacking, but rather defending life; and the continual training of the self to achieve this. ” In order to satisfy you with a great experience about Okinawa Karate and Okinawa Kobudo, I go to one of the most famous traditional Okinawa Kobudo dojos “Bunbukan”. I am a black belt holder (2nd dan) for karate and a black belt holder (2nd dan) for kobudo. I can arrange visits or experience lessons to these dojos for you!

    While I am not working, I enjoy outdoors and try to go to the gym as much as possible to take classes (boxercise, dance, and muscle-building). I like training my body and having fun with everybody in the classes as well as I feel refreshed after that and feel recharged for work the next day. Also I love joining a study tour led by a university professor, a staff member from the culture section of board of education of local municipalities, or a curator of a museum. For a history-loving person like me, it is always interesting to know more deeply about the history of Okinawa. I am extremely energetic and have been researching many nice places for you to dine in.

    Tour Itinerary

    • 1020 Met at the Hiroshima Ujina Port cruise ship berth. Mr. Louis, the husband, was feeling unwell and suggested the possibility of cancellation.
    • 1030 Took the shuttle bus to Ujina Port.
    • 1125 Headed to Miyajima by high-speed boat.
    • 1145 Arrived at Miyajima. At Mr. Louis's request, we took a taxi to the reserved okonomiyaki restaurant, but there was nothing the children wanted to eat, so we canceled. In the end, we ate at a different restaurant.
    • 1230 Took photos at Mikasagahama and went to the shrine entrance, but they decided not to go in, so we interrupted the Miyajima sightseeing and decided to head to the Peace Memorial Park.
    • 1330 On the way to the pier, his condition worsened, so we called a taxi and headed to the pier.
    • 1340 He wished to cancel the Peace Memorial Park as well and return to the cruise ship.
    • 1355 Boarded the high-speed boat bound for Ujina Port.
    • I accompanied them as well.
    • 1425 Arrived at Ujina Port. Guided them to the shuttle bus and ended the assignment.

    What Is a Private Miyajima Tour Like from Hiroshima? A Licensed Guide's Report From the beginning, one of the guests seemed unwell. Since they did not want to walk much in Miyajima, we used a taxi and moved while taking rest breaks. They did have a meal, but their condition worsened on the way to Itsukushima Shrine. I recommended continuing the tour to the Peace Memorial Park, but in the end they decided to cancel the tour itself. It might have been better to call it off from the start, but as a guide I could not say so. Also, regarding the receipt from Miyajima to Ujina Port, since there was no receipt available for the guide, the same half-price children's ticket was used.
