Kagoshima in One Day: Terukuni Shrine & Sushi restaurant

    Tour Itinerary

    • 8:30 Meet at Toyoko Inn Tenmonkan 2
    • 8:40 View the Ogion-sa portable shrine at Sentera
    • 9:00 Terukuni Shrine
    • 9:30 Tsurumaru Castle Ruins
    • 9:46 Bus to Sengan-en
    • 10:20 Sengan-en, archery experience
    • 11:57 Train to Central Station
    • 12:15 Sushi restaurant
    • 13:00 Shopping near Central Station
    • 13:30 Farewell (guests take a taxi to the port)

What's a Private Family Walking Tour of Kagoshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group who enjoyed walking. Since some of the guests would get bored without activities, we did an archery experience at Sengan-en. The group enjoyed taking photos and were delighted to take pictures at many photo spots, such as Terukuni Shrine and Sengan-en. The group had dietary restrictions: vegetables OK, fish OK, but no shellfish, no crustaceans, and no meat. Since they liked sushi, I looked for a sushi restaurant in advance. Lunch sets were likely not suitable, and because they relied only on public transportation, conveyor-belt sushi shops that require ordering individual items were difficult to reach. Today there was a large festival in Kagoshima, so the Tenmonkan area was extremely crowded and it was a struggle to find a place. I was able to make a reservation at "Sushikoto Katsuo" near Chuo Station, which was not crowded, served quickly, and allowed ordering individual items — it was perfect.

I’m a national government licensed tour guide. I moved to Kagoshima from Osaka four years ago because I was amazed by its perfect blend of stunning nature beauty and rich culture. We can see the majestic Sakurajima volcano from the city, which reminds us the powerful natural forces. Kagoshima was home to major Meiji Restoration figures, so history lovers will find plenty to explore. And of course, the food is incredible—famous for Kurobuta (Berkshire pork), Satsuma-age (fried fish cakes), and Shochu (a local distilled spirit).

I’m passionate about history and love visiting historical sites all over Japan. I also like outdoor activities like kayaking, hiking, and camping. Kagoshima’s natural landscape is perfect for these adventures, so there’s always something new to discover.

I look forward to sharing wonderful Kagoshima with you and making unforgettable memories together!

What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like During Gion Matsuri? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. During the morning meeting on the day of the tour, I learned that they had moved from Tokyo to Kyoto on July 17 without knowing about the Gion Matsuri festival. After visiting Sagano and Kinkaku-ji Temple, we walked a short distance along Shijo Street, where the dismantling of the festival floats (yamaboko) was taking place, toward Gion, and ended the tour there. Since the guests were staying in Kyoto and planned to travel on to Nara and Osaka, I proceeded with the tour while also explaining how to travel by train. I felt that traveling between major cities on an independent trip, with only an itinerary listing hotel names provided by a local travel agency, can be especially difficult when large luggage is involved.

Title: What's a Private Cruise Port Tour of Kagoshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time. They arrived in Kagoshima on a 12-day cruise tour that departed from Yokohama and passed through Hokkaido, Korea, and other destinations. Because the cruise ship carried a very large number of passengers, immigration procedures took some time, and our departure was 20 minutes later than originally scheduled. In the morning, due to unfortunate rain, we were unable to see Sakurajima from the Shiroyama Observatory, but at Sengan-en the guests appeared deeply impressed by the beautiful Iso Goten residence and garden of the Shimazu family. In the afternoon the rain stopped, and the guests fully enjoyed the majestic view of Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay from the Yunohira Observatory on Sakurajima. The guests expressed a wish to shop for clothing and other items, so instead of the originally planned visit to the Reimeikan (museum), I guided them to the AEON Kagoshima store. Since I accommodated their request as they wished, I believe they were satisfied. As this tour used a chartered vehicle, there were no advance transportation expenses to be reimbursed.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

Kanagawa in Half a Day: Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine & Hasedera Temple

    Tour Itinerary

    • 11:00 Meet at Kamakura Station, but right afterwards we realized a smartphone had been left on the train, so we went to the lost-and-found at Zushi Station to retrieve it

    • 13:00 Komachi Street
    • 13:50 Great Buddha of Kamakura
    • 14:15 Hasedera Temple
    • 15:00 Disband at Kamakura Station

Title: What Is a Private Kamakura Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report It was a very hot day, and at one point one of the guests became exhausted, so we quickly gave them water and cooled them down. At Kamakura Station, it turned out that a smartphone had been left behind on the train, so I accompanied the guests to the lost-and-found office at Zushi Station to retrieve it, which delayed the actual guiding by about an hour. Since some of the guests were interested in samurai, we visited the treasure house at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, but the exhibits were modest, and with no Japanese swords on display at all, it was a bit anticlimactic. Along the way the guests got hungry, so they bought snacks at a convenience store on Komachi Street and ate them. We took a bus to the Great Buddha of Kamakura, but it was hot inside the bus, and after getting off and entering the grounds of Kotoku-in, one of the guests became exhausted, so I brought them into the shade and administered treatment for heat exhaustion, including giving water and cooling them down. Since the guests were hungry and wanted to eat near Kamakura Station soon, we went through Hasedera Temple quickly, returned to the station, and ended the tour.

What Is a Short 3-Hour Private Hiroshima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They had requested only a 3-hour tour, as they were heading to Onomichi afterward for a cycling tour. After confirming with the travel agency, we arranged transportation by taxi. Although it was a weekend, there was no baseball game today, so I checked online in advance and confirmed that the coin lockers at the south exit were available, allowing us to store the luggage safely without having to walk around searching. It was a short tour, but I fielded many questions even inside the taxi on the way to Hiroshima Station. In Hiroshima, we naturally touch on more difficult and somber topics that are not discussed elsewhere, so the guests had many things they wanted to ask. They were on a three-week tour of Japan, but said it felt too short. They were an active group who had even climbed Mount Fuji, but they mentioned that "for some reason, everyone is moving a bit slowly today." After they purchased lunch, I saw them off safely to the Shinkansen ticket gate and concluded the tour.

Hi. I’m Michi. I’m a national licensed tour guide in English.
I want to introduce many faces and charms of Japan and make your stay in Japan more fascinating and satisfying.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima. My first tour in English was as a volunteer guide for the visitors to my school when I was a junior high school student. It gave me a great opportunity to study about the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
I spent my life in Hiroshima except for 6 years; 1 year in the UK as a student and 5 years working in Singapore and Malaysia. During this period I enjoyed meeting and talking with people from different cultural backgrounds.
These experiences encouraged me to be a licensed tour guide.

In Hiroshima, there are two famous World Heritage Sites, the Atomic Bomb Dome in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial & Itsukushima Shrine in Miyajima.
I have experienced many tours of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum & Park since I was a junior high school student. I would like to introduce you to the a-bomb legacies that are still existing in the city and the stories under the mushroom cloud.
I also would like to share time with you on a historic island, Miyajima. There is one of the most famous Shinto shrines, the Itsukushima Shrine. We can share an enjoyable time by exploring a sacred atmosphere, tradition, nature, food, etc.

I am also an official ‘A-bomb legacy successor’ designated by the City of Hiroshima. An A-bomb Legacy Successor is a memory keeper of the A-bomb survivors. To ensure that the A-bomb survivors’ experiences and desires for peace are faithfully inherited and shared with as many people as possible, the City has started a three-year training program for official ‘A-bomb Legacy Successors. ‘

Let me support your stay in Japan and I look forward to showing you the best of Japan!
    Hope to see you soon!

What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the East Gardens, Asakusa, and Harajuku The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Since they had Suica cards, we used both the subway and JR lines depending on the situation for getting around. Based on the guests' requests, I guided them around the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace and Asakusa, and we decided to head to Harajuku at the end if time allowed. Because their accommodation was close to the East Gardens, travel did not take much time, and we had quite a bit of extra time in the first half. I explained both the East Gardens and Asakusa in relatively fine detail, but the group walked at a fast pace and did not do much shopping along the way, so in the end we were able to make time to walk along Takeshita Street together. Since they wished to shop in Harajuku after the tour, we parted ways on-site after I showed them around Takeshita Street.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

Since I knew their arrival time at Himeji Station in advance, we met 30 minutes earlier than planned and started the tour. At Himeji Castle, we visited almost all of the facilities, including the West Bailey, the Hyakken Corridor, and the Main Keep. Because we started the tour early, we were able to see everything smoothly. After touring Himeji Castle, we took a short break at a tea shop near Koko-en Garden and enjoyed Himeji's specialty almond toast. The guests were delighted. After visiting Koko-en Garden, we returned to Himeji Station via the rooftop of Egret Himeji and ended the tour. The guests were very pleased.

Beforehand they had said they preferred to enjoy walking around rather than visiting typical tourist sites, and that they were interested in Japanese folding fans. Taking the intense summer heat into consideration, we visited Koishikawa Korakuen Garden and Tokyo Daijingu Shrine. Title: What's a Private Nagasaki Day Tour Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report I believe the guests were largely pleased with the tour. Despite heavy rain, following the driver's advice we timed our visit to a break in the clouds and went up to the Inasayama Observatory, where we enjoyed the view of the harbor. The Atomic Bomb Museum left a strong impression on the guests, and they were still talking about it during lunch. Because the guests were fond of historical sites, I also guided them to Urakami Cathedral and Suwa Shrine, which were not part of the original plan, and they were delighted. On this day the driver was a tremendous help, and I was grateful that we were able to visit so many places.

Especifically, in California, I completed a course on teaching English as a second language at UCI Extension.
My motto is to be a fun guide.
I’m interested in art, architecture, gardens, etc.
I also like Japanese culture and have experience in tea ceremony, kendo, calligraphy, and flower arrangements.
Japan is a country with beautiful nature and history. The town is clean and full of delicious food.
I would like to help guests create fun memories in Japan.
    Sincerely,
    Hiromi

Kanagawa in Half a Day: Great Buddha and Hase Kannon

    • 10:30-12:00 Visit the Great Buddha and Hase Kannon
    • 13:00-14:00 Sightseeing at Enoshima Sea Candle, disband

What Is a Private Day Tour to Enoshima and Shibuya Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. In line with their wishes, we visited three locations. They had not realized how far Enoshima actually was, but they were delighted to be able to see Mount Fuji. As this was their final day before heading to the Kansai region the following day, they were looking forward to experiencing the Shibuya Scramble Square next. Enoshima on a Saturday was extremely crowded, and as we walked along the approach to reach the escalators, it felt just as packed as walking down Takeshita Street in Harajuku.

Thank you for your entry in this tour. Nice to meet you in this mail.
Your tour guide Kappa is my nickname. Kappa is a traditional, imaginary creature who came into being in Japan over 300 years ago. She is good at swimming, like me, for I like swimming. I would like to make our tour operated smoothly as Kappa does when she swims in the river or pond. It is my pleasure to introduce many aspects in our tour, especially cooking, for it is my hobby and I went to the professional cooking and SAKE school, respectively. If you have any questions or requests about Japanese cooking, of course our tour, I am very delighted to answer to you anytime!
