What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for Cruise Ship Guests? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group of four visiting Japan for the first time. They came to Japan on a long cruise tour that had traveled via North America. At Hamarikyu Gardens, they were impressed by the beautiful Japanese garden and enjoyed matcha at the Nakajima Teahouse on the island. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Senso-ji Temple, they were intrigued by explanations about the differences between temples and shrines, as well as the Kaminarimon Gate. In Akihabara, they remarked that it was a unique place unlike anything found in their home region. After visiting Tokyo Tower, they said they could return to the cruise ship on their own, so we parted ways at Tokyo Tower. Since they mentioned they would have lunch after the tour, we did not set aside time for lunch. As I responded according to the guests' wishes, I believe they were satisfied.

I am Seizo Kamiuto, National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English). I was born in Kagoshima City in Kyushu (Southern part of Japan) and grew up there until the graduation from a high school. I came to Tokyo to enter a University in Tokyo and since then, I have lived in Tokyo for more than 40 years and therefore I know Tokyo and its suburbs and Kagoshima City very well. After retiring from an IT company, I have been working as a Guide Interpreter of English since March 2018. I have guided many overseas guests to the popular sightseeing spots in Tokyo, Kamakura, Mt. Fuji area (Kawaguchiko Lake etc.), Hakone, Nikko, Yokohama, Kawagoe and Kagoshima and so on. I have received good reviews from many guests. I can explain the history and the culture of Japan in detail. I look forward to an opportunity to guide you in Japan. Thank you. Seizo Kamiuto

What Does a One-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was fine, and the tour progressed smoothly. We started by purchasing a 24-hour pass at Nishi-Shinjuku Station. One of the guests walked a little slowly and used the handrail on the stairs. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, we took our time exploring the gardens and the main keep, and the guests took many photos. In Asakusa we moved at a slightly quicker pace, but there were still plenty of photo opportunities and we were able to talk a lot. Since there was a transfer to Narita later that day, the plan was set to finish by 15:00. It was uncertain whether we would make it to Meiji Shrine in time, but we managed to give an explanation and take photos in front of the torii gate. After that, I saw the guests off at their Hotel, and the tour ended almost exactly on schedule.

Title: What Is a Private Family Group Tour in Japan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests today were a group visiting from Oceania. Even when a group has seven or eight people, it is often the case that they do not disagree about where to visit or where to have lunch, but this group had differing opinions at each destination. Some wanted to buy souvenirs, while others wanted to enjoy street food, so it was difficult to reach an agreement. There was also considerable disagreement about lunch. As a solution, I took them to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant. Since they could eat not only sushi but also noodle dishes such as ramen and fried items, I thought there would be no disagreement.

Title: What's a Private Kobe Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a solo traveler from North America. Their parents had lived in Kobe in the 1950s, and many members of the family are said to be great admirers of Japan. In addition, several Japanese students had studied under the guest, and there were plans to meet some of them in Tokyo during this trip. At each spot, the guest showed a great deal of interest and listened attentively to the guide's explanations. The guest seemed particularly interested in the guide's explanations of Shinto and shrines, given their strong interest in religion. At the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the Kitano Ijinkan foreign residences, and the Nunobiki Herb Garden, the guest purchased souvenirs for family members. The guest was a truly pleasant and gentlemanly person. As a gift for a family member back home who is a great admirer of Japan, the guide presented a handmade drawstring pouch made by the guide's sister, and the guest was sure it would be very well received. The guest wished to try Kobe beef, so I guided them to a restaurant I recommended, where we parted ways.

    Dear my guests,

This is (Mr.) Yama, greeting from Kobe, Japan.
I would like to warmly welcome you to Japan this time. I am from the city of Kobe, which is of course, well-known for very tasty Kobe Beef . You can taste
real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
that you like them very much.

I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good
and pleasant time with you today. I hope I can come here again and name you as our guide”, which is my great pleasure. Moreover, I would be
great honored if they say “I like Japan now thanks to you”.

Looking forward to meeting you soon here.
    Doomo Arigato Gozaimasu!

What Is a Private FIT Tour of Kyoto Temples Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because the booking came in at short notice and email communication did not go smoothly, the itinerary was finalized on the day of the tour. The guests were a friendly group. They had visited Japan several times before, but had always sightseen in a rushed way on bus tours, so they wished to travel as FIT and take their time. Among the places visited, they particularly enjoyed Ginkaku-ji and Honen-in Temple. I carefully answered their questions about the relationship between the Emperor and the Shogun, the Meiji Restoration, and women's suffrage. In addition to the places on the itinerary, they seemed to have a wide range of interests. To save time, we based our movement mainly on taxi.

Hello, my name is Mizuho Yoshikawa. Please call me Mizu and my name means rice and water in Japanese.
I’ve been a tour guide more than 200 times since the spring of 2023 in Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Wakayama and Kochi. My tour is always original and new, depending on the guest’s preferences, encounters, seasons and weather.
In Kyoto, one of my tours is to climb Mt. Kurama. It is about 1 hour from the city of Kyoto by train, it is a very quiet and beautiful mountain.
In Osaka, which is called the kitchen of Japan, I am also in charge of food tour.
In Nara, in addition to the Great Budda Hall, I guide guests to the temple with a really great view and Japanese wine, sake tasting.
Every city has a unique charming point.
The motto of my guiding is ” Ichigo Ichie” Once in a lifetime or seize the day. I learn this concept that the moment will never be the same again through tea ceremonies.
I like a tea ceremony that is part of the traditional Japanese culture and embodies the spirit of “omotenashi” or hospitality. Through the tea ceremony, we can feel the spirit of “omotenashi” that has been passed down to us from ancient times.
And I like to travel abroad and domestically, and I have been to 13 overseas countries and most of the prefectures in Japan. Traveling always gives me a new perspective, which is exciting and thrilling. Nowadays, we can learn a lot from the Internet, but traveling teaches us that it is important to have direct experience. When I travel, I feel that my five senses are infinitely expanded, and through my tour, I help all guests to have the same feeling in Japan.
I was born and raised in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is next to Tokyo Prefecture in eastern Japan. When I was little, I could see Mount Fuji from my backyard. There was also a rice field nearby, and I grew up listening to the croaking of frogs. Listening to the frogs and seeing the mountains made me feel very calm.
I moved to the city of Kobe, one of the Kansai areas in western Japan, which includes Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and so on. I’m not from the Kansai area of western Japan, but I think that makes me sensitive to the differences between that area and the Kanto area, Tokyo, where I grew up.
Speaking of Kobe, you might be thinking of Kobe beef. Of course you do. There are also other sake breweries in Nada in Kobe. You can also go from Kobe city to Himeji Castle, also known as the White Egret Castle, which was the first in Japan to be listed as a World Heritage Site in 1993.
Let’s meet and enjoy Japan together!

Title: What Is a Private Day Tour to Kurama-dera and Kifune Shrine in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania. They told me they had visited Tokyo and Kyoto, and were planning to travel on to Osaka and Furano. They had planned their trip in considerable detail themselves, and for today's tour they wanted to visit Kurama-dera and Kifune Shrine, so I took them there. As it was not peak season, there were few tourists and they enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. At Kifune Shrine, a dondo-yaki fire ritual was being held, and they also enjoyed the water fortune-telling. They were collecting goshuin stamps as well. They liked Japan very much, and some of the guests are planning to return this autumn to see the fall foliage. I believe they enjoyed themselves.

Thank you very much for choosing JGA experience, and please allow me to briefly introduce myself. I’m Kaeko Tanigawa, your tour guide, and I have been showing tourists from abroad around mainly in Kyoto, Nara and Osaka areas. Every year I’ve guided my guests through those areas for over 80 times. I always try to do my best to help my guests explore and enjoy our unique and attractive locations, and I’ve been lucky enough to receive so many 5-star reviews from the guests I hosted. I’d like to help make your visit to Japan one of the most wonderful memories in your life. I’m really looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you very much.

Five people had originally been scheduled to join, but two had to cancel unexpectedly, so it became a tour for three. The tour included guidance on how to use the subway. Since one of the guests had difficulty walking, I made a point of using elevators and escalators whenever possible. At Meiji Shrine, the guests decided to wait at the café near the entrance, while at Senso-ji Temple and Shibuya they enjoyed doing some shopping. The guests live in a region where temperatures reach around minus 10°C, so they found Kyoto, at around plus 10°C, to be very mild and comfortable. They came to sightsee in Kyoto from Osaka, and since this was their only day for Kyoto sightseeing, they wished to explore the six locations mentioned above. For the final stop at Fushimi Inari, there was unfortunately not enough time, so I simply brought them there and had them enjoy the sightseeing on their own, after which they would return to their hotel in Osaka by themselves. That became the point where we parted ways.

Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from Oceania. As arranged in advance, upon arrival I first showed them where to store their luggage in a coin locker. The guests were very thoughtful and asked many deeply considered questions, so I made sure to respond carefully and attentively. As we were running short on time, I adjusted the amount of time spent at the Peace Memorial Park, though the first exhibit ran about 20 minutes over schedule. Seeing the expressions on the guests' faces after viewing the exhibits, I found myself at a loss for words. Afterward, I adjusted the itinerary and we made it to the return bullet train in time. It was a day that reminded me once again that there are things more important than sticking to a schedule.

Originally, I’m a cycling guide doing cycling tours all over Japan.
But, already done Hiroshima & Miyajima tour more than 400 times.
I traveled many countries in my younger days. I traveled Europe, US, China, India, US, Mexico, Peru Australia, NZ, and so on.
I decided to use this experience to become a guide.
I’m afraid but no tipping required, because cycling guides are not allowed to have tipping in my association. And you do not need to pay for my lunch, because my lunch is prepared by our group.
Please do not hesitate to ask me anything, I’ll change the plan according to your requests.
Thank you for your understanding and please stay connected.

What's a Family-Friendly Private Tokyo Tour Like? Tsukiji, Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and teamLab — A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a family visiting from Oceania. At Tsukiji they enjoyed grilled king crab, oysters, and scallops, along with candied strawberries and candied muscat grapes. At the omikuji fortune drawing in Asakusa, three of the guests drew "bad luck," and after that one drew "little good luck," which made that modest "least fortunate" result shine all the more. They purchased chopsticks, chopstick rests, a good-luck charm, character goods, and more. One of the guests followed a gluten-free diet, and for lunch we went to a sushi restaurant, where everyone ate with great enjoyment. At Meiji Shrine they offered a proper prayer, then visited several shops along Takeshita Street and enjoyed crepes. After the tour I took them to teamLab, confirmed how they would return to their accommodation, and then finished. Along the way we also talked about things that might be helpful for the days ahead. They were very pleasant, and I believe everyone had a wonderful time.
