    What Can You See on a Private East Tokyo Tour Including Yanaka, Nezu, and Shibamata? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. Since they had explored the western area the day before, on this day I guided them mainly around the eastern side of the city. Unfortunately it rained, and especially in the latter half the wind and rain grew strong, making conditions difficult, but the guests did not seem to mind and enjoyed the tour. For lunch they had requested ramen, so I took them to a ramen shop on the way from Nezu Shrine to Yanaka Ginza, and they were very pleased. They also seemed to like the shopping street in Shibamata and Daikyoji Temple (Shibamata Taishakuten), and shared with me that they had a wonderful time. They enjoyed the cherry blossoms at various spots as well.

    Title: What Is a Private Cherry Blossom Tour of Arashiyama, Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were from North America. They spoke Spanish, so communication was somewhat limited. Partway through the tour, the rain began to fall heavily, so we made our way while taking shelter here and there. Originally I had planned to visit Okochi Sanso Villa as well, but we had to give that up because of the rain. For lunch, the guests did not want to eat what I suggested, so along the way they enjoyed some cup sake and ice cream instead. They took many photos and seemed to enjoy themselves in their own way. The cherry blossoms were truly beautiful, which really helped save the day.

    Bye bye smart phone!! Let’s enjoy Japan without bothering to check up your phone all the time with not AI but a local guide like me. Hi, my name is Mimmy. You may think this sounds like a kitten’s name.
    I use this nickname because it sounds cute and easy to remember. However,
    I actually look rounded, a middle aged woman more like a yellow character of M&Mchocolate, which reminds you of my name easily when you see me.
    I was born in Osaka, went to school in Kobe, went to work in Kyoto and married but still live in Osaka. I am a local, native Osakan. My 3 children are all grown up and live separately except one son. Now I live with one son and a husband in suburbs of the Osaka city.
    I like travelling, walking around the town and anything new.
    I got my guide license in 2017 and started guiding after that. I wasn’t able to work during Covid period but start guiding in 2022 again. I guide Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Kobe and have experienced more than100 tours including bus tours.
    I would like to tell you about the itineraries I usually have in each area.
    In Osaka, we usually go to Osaka castle, Shinsekai and Dotonbori Namba area.
    I think most important part you should see is Dotonbori Namba in Osaka.
    This place is vibrant , energetic, full of 3D signs and different from any other place in Japan.
    In Kyoto, we cannot see all famous sightseeing spots in one day.
    It will be better to visit each area respectively. I recommend guests who come to Kyoto first time to visit East area, Kiyomizu Temple>Sannenzaka>Ninenzaka>Ishibeikouji>Yasaka shrine> Gion area. This area has an atmosphere of traditional old Kyoto. The most Kyoto like places which suit Kimono. You can rent Kimono in a lot of places around here.
    The second place I recommend you is West area: Golden temple and Arashiyama area where Bamboo forest , Tenryuji temple, mountains and a river. There are several nice gardens in this area. If you want to enjoy the nature quietly, you
    should come here when it is not crowded (Winter is the most quiet)
    In Nara which used to be a capital even older than Kyoto, we visit Todaiji Temple where a huge Buddha is sitting inside of one of the largest wooden hall and you can play with deer everywhere in Nara. Naramachi: a small town in this area is a local place where small interesting shops are.
    In Kobe, a port city, you can visit Japanese Sake breweries, Herb garden and the top of Mt.Rokko for viewing Kobe city. A small China town is there, too.

    Now I bet you want to leave home to explore somewhere else you do not know.
    Not only going to somewhere else, we can help you to do several experiences: making tea, making Japanese sweet, making Takoyaki(food), wearing Kimono, making food samples, attending a tea ceremony, throwing Shriken like Ninja, Using bow and arrow like Samurai, , , ,

    What Is a Private Himeji Castle Cherry Blossom Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, and we were able to travel smoothly throughout the day. The guests showed great interest in each spot we visited. One of the guests appeared to enjoy photography and was busy taking many pictures. When taking in the full view of Himeji Castle from the rooftop of Egret Himeji, the guests repeatedly exclaimed "Wonderful, beautiful!" and seemed very satisfied. The cherry blossoms at Himeji Castle were in about 70 to 80 percent bloom, making them extremely beautiful and highlighting the castle magnificently. The guests seemed to enjoy Japanese sake, and at Nadagiku Sake Brewery they experienced many tastings and purchased Japanese sake and yuzu liquor as souvenirs. I presented a handmade drawstring pouch, which was well received. The weather was very unstable today, and we were caught in quite heavy rain at Kokoen Garden. Special note) Largely because it is cherry blossom season, the number of visitors to Himeji Castle was extremely high this week (I felt there were nearly as many domestic visitors as international ones, which I had not experienced in a long time). There were times when entry was temporarily restricted, not only at the ticket counter but also within the grounds, and this required significantly more time than planned. With 150 minutes, the visit became somewhat rushed, and I realized that around 180 minutes would be needed. I felt this is something to be mindful of for future visits during the cherry blossom season.

    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Nara Like Before Heading to Koyasan? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a solo traveler visiting from North America, who had already walked the Kumano Kodo and, after one night in Nara, planned to walk up to Koyasan from Kudoyama. The guest kept a steady walking pace throughout, so there was no particular need for extra care. I had planned to have lunch at Kotoya, but unusually it was fully booked with a group reservation. Even so, the guest seemed very pleased with the "chagayu" (tea rice porridge) at Emado Chaya. On this day, Nakatani-do, the Harushika sake tasting spot, and Mizuya Chaya were all closed, so this is something to keep in mind. Isuien Garden was also closed for some time. It is puzzling why Isuien would close during this busy tourist season, as it seems to have many unexpected closures.

    Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
    I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
    After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
    I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
    What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

    What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Kappabashi, Tsukiji, and Roppongi The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. The day after the tour, they were scheduled to board a cruise ship departing from Yokohama for an approximately two-week journey around various parts of Japan. Some of the guests had relatives who frequently visit Japan, and they had received various pieces of advice from them and planned their itinerary accordingly. At Sensoji Temple, before I even had a chance to explain, the guests spotted the omikuji fortune slips and showed interest, asking "What is that?" and decided to try them. Both drew a "kichi" (good fortune) and were delighted. We strolled through Sumida Park, got into the car around Azumabashi Bridge, and got off near Tawaramachi Station in the Kappabashi Kitchen Town district. I had assumed they might be interested in kitchen knives and initially thought of guiding them to a well-known knife shop, but when I took them instead to a kitchenware store recommended by a friend, located just before it, they immediately purchased two knives. They bought a nakiri knife and a petty knife, along with a clever little tool that makes it easy to set a 15-degree angle when sharpening knives, and a whetstone. At this point, they had completed everything they needed to buy in Kappabashi, but they continued to enjoy browsing various kitchen items and peeking into other knife shops, enjoying some window shopping. Finally, we took a commemorative photo with the giant chef's-face signboard object atop a landmark building in Kappabashi in the background. Next, we headed to Tsukiji Market. They requested a sushi restaurant with seating where they could sit down, which was my recommendation, and since we could be seated without waiting, I guided them to a sushi restaurant this time. They enjoyed a tuna nigiri set, cucumber rolls, and more. During that lunch conversation, I learned that although a friend had recommended Ginza, they were not particularly interested in shopping there. Since I had also heard at the morning departure that they wished to buy T-shirts at the Hard Rock Cafe, we took a quick look around Ginza and then headed to the Hard Rock Cafe in Roppongi. They were able to buy several of the T-shirts they wanted and were very satisfied. Furthermore, at the Don Quijote store right nearby, one of the guests who had wanted to buy Japanese okaki rice crackers found a large bag of kaki-no-tane and purchased it. Although it was a little earlier than the scheduled end time, the guests said, "We've finished everything we wanted to see and do today, we're completely satisfied and are happy to return to the hotel now," so I saw them back to their hotel.

    Title: What's a Private Day Trip from Sendai to Shiogama and Matsushima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time. They mentioned they wanted to go to the Shiogama wholesale market and try some fish, so bearing in mind that last order is at noon on weekdays, I asked whether we could leave a little earlier, and we were able to catch the 10:08 train. Since it was raining today, I asked whether they would like to use a taxi in places while the rain continued, and they said yes, please. The market is a 15-minute walk from Higashi-Shiogama Station, but as it was raining steadily, we took a taxi. At the market we walked through and took a quick look around, then came back later to the fish that had caught their interest. One of the guests likes octopus, and since the seafood unique to Shiogama is tuna, they wanted to try it, so I took them to a specialist stall. When I explained that tuna landed in Shiogama is auctioned here first, then goes to Tokyo for a second auction, they were amazed. Trying the sashimi of natural bluefin tuna, one of the guests was moved and said, "I've never eaten anything this delicious." Since there is some distance from the market to Shiogama Shrine, I asked whether they would like to take a taxi and called one. At Shiogama Shrine the early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms were out. As this was their first visit to Japan, I also explained how to worship at a shrine. Going down the slope, we strolled around the Shiogama Honmachi district, where one of the guests showed interest in a handmade chocolate shop and the ceramics at Tanrokuen and did some shopping. They must have really liked something at Tanrokuen, as they bought two 6,000-yen Kutani artisan cups. As we were about to move on to Matsushima, they seemed tired. Around 14:00, one of the guests murmured, "Maybe I'll head back to the hotel." I asked what they would like to do, mentioning that on the way back to Sendai I could show them places such as Mitakisan Fudoin. They went once to the outbound platform, but then one of them said, "The temple I said I wanted to see, the one in Sendai… Zui…" so I said, "If you mean Zuiganji, that's in Matsushima, only 10 minutes from here. Going back to Sendai takes 30 minutes, but Matsushima is just 10 minutes away." They replied, "Yes, I've been wanting to see Zuiganji," so we moved to the inbound platform. Walking as slowly as possible so as not to tire them, we arrived at Zuiganji. They marveled at the red-and-white Garyubai plum trees and the golden waiting room. On the way back, they relaxed on the train, and when they asked me for a beef tongue recommendation on board, I suggested that if they were tired, Rikyu behind the Westin might be a good choice. We used taxis today, but as they did not seem to walk much, they appeared a little tired.

    Title: What Is a Private History Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania who appeared to have a strong interest in history. I linked the guiding at the former Imperial General Headquarters site and the Atomic Bomb Dome, exploring them under the theme of "Hiroshima as a Military City." Since they enjoyed seeing nature and getting exercise, we walked from Shukkeien Garden to Hondori and had lunch there. As Hiroshima was the only cruise port stop where they had arranged a guide, I arranged the content to focus mainly on history and reconstruction, and tried guiding in chronological order. Through trial and error, I received many words of praise, which was a great relief.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour Beyond the Classic Sights? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Before coming to Japan, they had spent time traveling through Asia. They had arrived the previous day but were in very good spirits. Having visited Japan once before, the guests requested places other than Asakusa, Meiji Shrine, and the Imperial Palace. First, I took them to Yanaka Cemetery, which is famous for its avenue of cherry blossoms. As it was not crowded, we were able to enjoy the view at a leisurely pace. After seeing Yanaka Ginza, we went to Ueno Park, where the guests were surprised by how crowded it was. Unfortunately, it began to rain quite heavily at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, so we took a lunch break. Since they did not care for raw dishes, we chose tempura, and I was pleased that they finished their tempura rice bowl completely. Afterwards, we went to Ginza and I saw them off at their hotel. A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku Gyoen, Asakusa, and teamLab The guests were visitors from Oceania on their first day in Japan, and I guided them to the places they had requested. In the morning at Shinjuku Gyoen, there was less rain than expected, which was fortunate. They were able to take good photos of the cherry blossoms and were delighted. They bought strawberry Japanese sweets in the basement food floor of Isetan. In Asakusa the rain became heavy, so we took covered streets as much as possible. For lunch they enjoyed tendon and sasami-don. Since they had mentioned wanting to go to Uniqlo, I guided them there and they purchased several items. I took them to the entrance of teamLab, where they had a reservation at 3:30. I wrote down and explained how to get back to their hotel on a note, and we said goodbye with a hug.
