Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. It rained on the day, but only lightly enough to require an umbrella at times, so there were no problems in carrying out the tour. At Shukkeien Garden, the cherry blossoms were in bloom, including the reference tree, and the guests appeared to enjoy the scenery. Afterward, I took them to Hiroshima Castle, which had closed on March 22, and we strolled around the surrounding area. The famous cherry blossoms in front of Hiroshima Castle were only about twenty percent in bloom, but the guests were satisfied with the view. At the Peace Memorial Park, we entered the museum last, and since the guests wished to spend more time viewing the exhibits on their own, we parted ways once the scheduled four hours had elapsed.

Hi! My name is Kazuhisa To. After completing graduate school, I moved to Hiroshima—and have now lived here for over 42 years. I earned a Ph.D. through a national university’s professional program while working at Mazda Motor Corporation. Five years before retiring from the company, I was seconded to Hiroshima University, a national university, where I served as a specially appointed professor. In addition to my domestic career, I spent a total of about five and a half years living and working abroad. These international experiences have given me valuable cross-cultural understanding and the ability to connect comfortably with guests from around the world. Currently, as a Hiroshima Prefectural Government Licensed Guide Interpreter, I introduce visitors not only to famous attractions such as Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima, but also to the local lifestyle, culture, and culinary delights, tailored to your interests. I hope to provide each guest with a memorable experience that stays in your heart.
I look forward to meeting you here in Hiroshima!

What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku, the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji, and Shibuya The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. At the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck, despite the unfortunate rainy weather, they seemed impressed by the vast views of Tokyo. At Shinjuku Gyoen, although the cherry blossoms were not yet in full bloom, they were delighted to be able to see them. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. In Tsukiji, they enjoyed a sushi lunch. In Shibuya, after guiding them to the Scramble Crossing and the Hachiko statue, they said they wanted to explore the Shibuya area on their own, so we parted ways in Shibuya. Although the weather was unfortunately not good, I responded according to the guests' wishes, so I believe they were satisfied.

What's a Private One-Day Yokohama Tour Like from Yokohama Port to Haneda? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who arrived at Yokohama Port in the morning on a cruise and were scheduled to fly home from Haneda Airport in the evening. For this reason, we took a taxi from the Daikoku Pier Terminal to the Yokohama City Air Terminal, stored their luggage in a coin locker, and then began sightseeing in Yokohama. (The taxi fare was covered by the guests.) At Sankeien Garden, they were delighted to see the cherry blossoms in nearly full bloom. In Chinatown, they enjoyed a Chinese lunch. At Yamashita Park, they seemed impressed by the beautiful flowers and the harbor scenery. Since I responded to the guests' requests as they wished, I believe they were satisfied. In addition, at the guests' request, we used a taxi to move from Sankeien Garden to Chinatown in order to shorten the travel time. (Covered by the guests.)

Title: What's a Half-Day Cherry Blossom Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America and were experiencing an Asian country for the first time, though they appeared to be frequent cruise travelers. The purpose of this tour was to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom. We started at Tokyo Station. They were amazed by the grand architecture of the station, and while walking to the Nijubashi Bridge, I explained the Imperial Palace and its historical background. Fortunately, we were blessed with good weather today, and they seemed to fully enjoy the beauty of the cherry blossoms at Chidorigafuchi. I had checked the cherry blossom viewing route in advance, and since it becomes one-way, I guided them to start from Kudanshita Station, walk the entire Chidorigafuchi Ryokudo path, and then head to Hanzomon Station from the end. Asakusa had even more cherry blossom viewers than usual, but they seemed to enjoy the crowds themselves as a rare sight. They listened to explanations about the proper etiquette for visiting temples and shrines for the first time, as well as the origins of Sensoji Temple. They mentioned that they don't have many opportunities to walk back home, so they seemed a bit puzzled by the subway stairs and the long amount of walking, but with the miraculous clear skies and cherry blossoms in full bloom, I believe they ended the half-day tour very satisfied.

Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Cherry Blossom Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour proceeded in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and the guests were delightful to be with. Although I had mentioned it in advance, the guests had not purchased a transportation card, had not installed a smartphone app, and only had US-equivalent foreign currency in cash. Fortunately, there was a currency exchange machine in Harajuku where they were able to exchange their money into Japanese yen. Until then, I had covered the costs on their behalf. Since credit cards could not be used at the station, I felt I should have explained Japan's transportation system to them earlier. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and the weather improved, so although the tour ran longer than planned, the guests kindly agreed to complete the entire itinerary and seemed very satisfied, which was wonderful. At the end, I forgot to hand them the review card.

    Hello,Mr.A,
Thank you for choosing our tour. I would like you to enjoy your tour as much as possible.
If you have any ideas to see or to eat in your mind, please tell me.
If not, I will suggest traditional Japanese culture like Meiji-shrine, Tokyo Tower, Asakusa and beautiful traditional Japanese gardens like Rikugien and Hakone. If you want to try to eat typical Japanese food, I will introduce the Japanese restaurants. I woulld like to make an itinerary, including your request.
Please enjoy Japanese traditional and leading-edge culture or beautiful nature
I’m looking forward to seeing you.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. As they seemed relatively unaccustomed to traveling, I checked their return tickets when we met and found that they had not reserved seats for their return journey, so we arranged to extend the departure time and adjusted our schedule by about 30 minutes at each stage. That day, the museum had planned entry restrictions in the afternoon to avoid congestion, which I was worried about, but we made it just in time and were able to complete the visit in the way the guests had hoped. Although the visit to Miyajima took place in the evening, I believe the guests enjoyed visiting during the peak of the cherry blossom season.

    Welcome to Hiroshima.
My name is Hiroshi Tsuji, a licensed guide based in Hiroshima and Miyajima. My family has been connected to Miyajima for more than 300 years, and I am pleased to share the history, culture, and daily life of this unique island with visitors from around the world. Please feel free to call me Hiroshi.
With a background in outdoor sports—including rock climbing, scuba diving, and long-distance triathlons—I have completed several Ironman races abroad. I studied in Kyoto and later worked in management at a publicly listed company, which allowed me to live in many different regions of Japan and develop a deeper understanding of the country’s diverse culture and history.
In Hiroshima, I guide guests through the Peace Memorial Park, including the Atomic Bomb Dome, and share perspectives on the history of Hiroshima and modern Japan.
In Miyajima, I introduce Itsukushima Shrine, Mount Misen, the island’s beautiful scenery, and its local cuisine. As someone whose family has been connected to Miyajima for generations, I also enjoy sharing local insights and experiences that offer a more personal connection to the island’s culture and way of life.
I look forward to welcoming you to Hiroshima and Miyajima.

    • Tour around about 10 knife shops until around 14:20.
    • 14:30 Decided to buy the knife (santoku) seen at a shop called Jikko, and returned to the same shop.
    • 14:45 Finished shopping.
    • 15:25 Since one of the two guests, a woman, said she had not yet seen Sensoji Temple (the man had been there during his previous visit to Japan), took them to Sensoji Temple via Kaminarimon Gate and parted ways.

Title: What Is a Private Tsukiji and Kappabashi Knife-Shopping Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests looked around Tsukiji Outer Market with great interest, though they did not buy any food. They purchased a set of small packets containing dashi powder (a pack of 30). At Kappabashi, the search for a kitchen knife took us to about ten shops, and at each one the guests were shown several knives and asked questions enthusiastically. (As a guide, I was surprised that each shop had non-Japanese staff members.) We covered nearly both sides of Kappabashi, and once the guests found a knife they liked, they seemed very satisfied. The guests appeared very pleased with the purchase.

I have worked as a diplomat for 48 years until last year(2024), so I think I am good at explaining anything about Japan in English. Though I’m a novice as tour guide, l promise that I will make detailed and thorough preparations for guiding you and to make your trip smooth and enjoyable. I myself like to experience various means of transportation and interested in local culture, history and food. You may be a bit concerned about my age(71 years old), but I am quite fit for work. Just to prove this I wish to say that I played 5 rounds of golf this summer month of August, 2025.

    • 15:10 Disband at Ote Gate

Title: What Can You See on a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was mostly cloudy but there was no rain, so the tour proceeded smoothly. We entered Shinjuku Gyoen before 10:00, the time before which a reservation is required, and were able to view it at a leisurely pace. The guests enjoyed the cherry blossoms, camellias, and the Japanese garden, and took many photos. At Meiji Shrine, perhaps because it was an auspicious day, there were many weddings and shrine visits for newborns, and the guests enjoyed taking photos. Asakusa was very crowded, but the guests enjoyed drawing omikuji fortunes and more. It was an open day for the Imperial Palace's cherry blossom avenue, and since we had time to spare, we headed toward Sakashita Gate, though we had to wait in line for a while. After that, we also toured the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace and finished at Otemon Gate at the exit. A tip was received.

タイトル: What's a Private Nara Tour Like When Guests Arrive Late by Shinkansen? A Licensed Guide's Report 本文: This was a tour full of unusual circumstances. The original plan was to start at 13:00. Through the pre-tour correspondence, it gradually became clear that the guests would leave Tokyo in the morning, arrive in Kyoto by Shinkansen, transfer to Nara for the tour, and afterward head to a hotel near Shin-Osaka. They said they might arrive in Nara earlier, but that it would not be certain until the day itself. In the end, I was able to meet the guests in Nara at 14:00. When I asked why the Shinkansen could only be arranged for such a time, they explained that they had arrived at Haneda from North America that morning and taken the Shinkansen from Shin-Yokohama. They had probably not been able to make a reservation in advance due to the flight schedule. From around 9:00 that morning, I was kept busy by a flurry of exchanges over a messaging app. The tour start was delayed by another 30 minutes or so while the guests put their luggage in coin lockers and exchanged money. On top of that, since one of the guests was not feeling well, the Nara tour ended up covering only the Great Buddha Hall, the Nandaimon Gate, the deer, and a few scattered cherry blossoms. Rather than the Nara guiding itself, the "guiding until reaching Nara" and the "guiding after the tour ended" were the more demanding parts. I saw the guests onto the direct rapid train from Nara Station to Shin-Osaka (I rode along with them partway), and about an hour after I returned home, I received a message on the messaging app saying, "The train has stopped. It's already been about an hour!" There was a fairly large fire beside the tracks, and both the Yamatoji Line and the Osaka Higashi Line had suspended operations. I had parted ways with the guests before 5:00, but the trains apparently did not resume until around 8:20 in the evening. I truly hope they managed to reach their hotel safely!

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.
