    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? Meiji Shrine, Tsukiji, and Asakusa — A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a cheerful and lively group visiting Japan for the first time. They said the forest and buildings of Meiji Shrine were very beautiful and wonderful. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed fresh tuna sushi at a sushi stand and tried daifuku with various types of sweet bean paste. In Asakusa, they were delighted by the view of the Skytree and other sights from the observation deck of the information center and took many photos. They also listened attentively to explanations about religion in Japan. Since they preferred cooked food for lunch, we went to a monjayaki restaurant and enjoyed okonomiyaki, monjayaki, and teppanyaki. As some of the guests did not eat very much, I may have ordered a little too much. Afterward, we went to Kappabashi, where they purchased tableware and chopsticks. We parted ways at Kappabashi, and they planned to continue enjoying Asakusa on their own. The weather was wonderful, and it was a lovely group who could enjoy anything.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Kochi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Ryoma Museum, Kochi Castle, and Hirome Market The tour proceeded in a very lively atmosphere, as it happened to be a special celebration day for one of the guests. The guests were interested in history, so they took their time exploring the Sakamoto Ryoma Museum and also enjoyed Kochi Castle. At Hirome Market, it was like a party, with seared bonito (katsuo no tataki) and lots of other foods. The guests got along very well, and conversation continued throughout the car ride. Above all, we were blessed with wonderful weather, and I believe the views from the Sakamoto Ryoma Museum and the keep of Kochi Castle made for some of the best scenes of the day. One of the guests wished to purchase shoes, but the size was not available, so they could not buy them; however, they enjoyed the atmosphere of the shopping arcade.

    What Is a Private Nagoya Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nagoya Castle and Tokugawaen The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since the weather forecast predicted rain and strong wind in the afternoon, I proposed in advance to move the tour start time one hour earlier, to 10:30, and the guests agreed. As a result, the guests were able to enjoy the tour with almost no impact from the rain during the guided tour hours. At Nagoya Castle, the cherry blossoms were still at their peak, and the guests enjoyed the atmosphere of blossoms ranging from full bloom to falling petals. At Tokugawaen, the guests enjoyed the peony garden and the ambiance near the waterfall. At the Tokugawa Art Museum on the same grounds, the guests viewed a special exhibition for the Doll Festival (scheduled to end in a few days) and showed their interest in Japanese culture. When we visited Oasis 21, the guests wished to enjoy some more shopping there, so I explained how to get back to Nagoya Port, and we parted ways on the spot.

    Can You See Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo in Early April? A Private Shinjuku Gyoen and Kappabashi Tour Report by a Licensed Guide The guests were a group visiting from Asia. One of the guests had difficulty walking for long periods after a knee operation and brought a folding wheelchair. They had visited Japan several times before and had already seen many of the major sightseeing spots, so this time they wanted to see the cherry blossoms and purchase some clothing. I was worried about whether the cherry blossoms would still be in bloom in early April, but a stretch of cold days meant the blossoms were still visible, which was wonderful. Due to the poor weather, the guests came down from their room close to noon. We first went to Shinjuku Gyoen, where one of the guests moved around by wheelchair. Although the rain sometimes fell heavily, there were also periods when it stopped, and we spent quite a long time in Shinjuku Gyoen taking various photos against the backdrop of cherry blossoms in full bloom, entering through the Shinjuku Gate and exiting through the Sendagaya Gate. After that, the guests wanted to purchase tableware, so we stopped at a fast food restaurant along the way, had lunch in the car, and then shopped for plates, various dishes, and chopsticks in Kappabashi. At Asakusa ROX they purchased a skirt, and at a shoe shop on Shin-Nakamise they purchased shoes. As they had quite a lot of luggage, we returned to the Hotel and parted ways. Since we extended by one hour, the tour ended at 18:00. The weather was not good, but with the breaks in the rain, I believe the guests were able to enjoy the cherry blossoms.

    Title: What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Walking Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania. It was their first time in Japan, and they came to Hiroshima after visiting Tokyo and Kyoto. The weather was unfortunately poor, with steady heavy rain, but the guests were very kind and enjoyed the scenery of Miyajima despite getting wet in the rain. At Itsukushima Shrine, the wait was only about 10 minutes, but they had to wait without any roof overhead. The rain was strong and it was cold, and I felt sorry that one of the guests seemed to be catching a cold, but they smiled and told me that the great torii gate and the misty scenery in the rain were very beautiful. Since the cherry blossoms were still just barely in bloom, we passed through a cherry blossom spot on the way to Daishoin Temple. They were delighted, saying we were really lucky to come to such a beautiful, uncrowded place with lovely cherry blossoms. At Daishoin Temple, they were very moved by the Five Hundred Rakan statues and enjoyed walking through the corridors. On the way to lunch, one of the guests mentioned that although they had worn a down jacket, it was not waterproof and they had gotten wet through to the inside. Because one of them seemed to be catching a cold, they said they would like to give up on visiting Peace Memorial Park this time and return to Hiroshima Station. They kindly told me not to worry since it was their own decision, but I still felt very sorry. When I asked another guide who was going around Peace Memorial Park, I heard that on that day the Peace Memorial Museum had entry restrictions with a one-hour wait outside, so I shared this information as well, and we decided to skip Peace Memorial Park this time. I decided to help them with the ticket change procedure at Hiroshima Station, and we went to lunch. They really liked the okonomiyaki, and during lunch we had a relaxed atmosphere as they practiced Japanese and showed me photos of a beach near their home in Oceania. We went to the ticket window at Hiroshima Station to change the tickets, but since the arrangements had been made through a local travel agency, they could not be changed, so we had to wait at Hiroshima Station until the 6 o'clock Shinkansen. I gave them a tour of the inside of Hiroshima Station. They became interested in the Carp, so we visited shops selling Carp goods and also went to shops with Hiroshima specialty souvenirs. Finally, we went to a restaurant inside the station, talked a little about the Peace Memorial Park we could not visit, and folded paper cranes together, which delighted them very much. They told me they would come again to Peace Memorial Park another time, and that this had been the best trip for them this time. It was a tour that I felt was truly saved by the guests.

    What's a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like for Cruise Passengers? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Shinjuku Gyoen The guests were visitors from North America. They were staying in Tokyo for only this day and were set to board a cruise the next day to travel around Japan and Korea. One of the guests had difficulty walking and could only move slowly. At Asakusa, they enjoyed the buildings and the atmosphere of the Nakamise shopping street. Since the Asakusa Line has many stairs, I changed the plan to use the Ginza Line and Hibiya Line to reach Tsukiji. At Tsukiji, they also enjoyed seeing a variety of foods and ingredients. For lunch, since one of the guests preferred gluten-free options, I had made a reservation at a restaurant in Shinjuku Sanchome, but we came out of an exit that was a bit far away and I ended up making them walk quite a lot, which I felt bad about. They kindly said the meal was very delicious. As walking had become quite painful, we took a taxi to Shinjuku Gyoen. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom at Shinjuku Gyoen and they were delighted, but after all the walking, they seemed quite tired. From Shinjuku Gyoen, they wished to return to their hotel by taxi, so we went back by taxi. The weather improved in the latter half of the day, but I was truly sorry for having made them walk so much on the way to the restaurant.

    Title: What Is a Private Family Walking Tour of Trendy Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe and Oceania, some of whom had lived in Europe until the previous year. They introduced themselves as being from Africa, and I believe the unfamiliar language they occasionally spoke among themselves was Afrikaans. All but one member were visiting Japan for the first time; that one had visited about ten years earlier. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to visit Hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka. In Tokyo they were more interested in walking through trendy neighborhoods than in history, so the walk was tailored mainly to the interests of the younger members of the group. After departing from the Hotel, we first headed to Chidorigafuchi. Although the cherry blossoms had just begun to fall, we were able to see them in full bloom and took many photos. Throughout the day, the group made a point of taking a commemorative photo of everyone together at each place we visited. By the time we reached Meiji Shrine, it had begun to rain, and after their visit they purchased folding umbrellas at the souvenir shop. They praised the quality of Japanese umbrellas, noting that a folding umbrella bought on a visit ten years earlier had lasted until today, and were delighted to find that the replacement was from the same maker. After a short break at a café, we went to Takeshita Street. At a character goods shop, the younger members each made their own original pouch by heat-pressing stickers of their favorite characters on the spot, which they thoroughly enjoyed. They very much wanted to visit a dog café, piglet café, and capybara café, but as these were crowded, they gave up for the day and checked how to make online reservations. For lunch, one member had insisted from the start on "Kobe beef or sushi," and since I heard that a planned visit to Tsukiji Market the day before had not been possible, I suggested making lunch a visit to Tsukiji Market. I guided them to a sushi restaurant so the whole group could settle at a table together. Everyone ordered à la carte as they liked. One member ordered tuna yukhoe in addition to sushi, and although I had asked for the wasabi to be served separately, they mixed in the entire adult-thumb-sized portion of wasabi and ate it. I was a little worried, but they said, "I love spicy food, so no problem. Delicious," and finished it all. The younger members had cucumber hand rolls and even ordered more. Exploring Tsukiji Market came after lunch, and one member became very excited upon finding the large collar and bones of a dismantled tuna, taking many photos — a contrast to how quietly they had accompanied the shopping at the character goods shop earlier. In Shibuya, we took a group photo in front of the Hachiko statue. At the scramble crossing, upon request, I helped film a video from the front of everyone crossing the intersection. As time was running short, we skipped the planned cherry blossom viewing along the Meguro River and instead walked Cat Street from the Shibuya side toward the Harajuku side. Partway along, one member found their feet were sore and wished to return to the Hotel separately. So I guided the remaining members through the rest of Cat Street, took a commemorative photo together in front of a toy shop, explained the subway route home, and concluded the tour.

    It was a rather challenging day with rain for almost the entire day. After meeting at the Hotel, we headed to Shinjuku Gyoen. It was good that the rain kept the number of visitors low, but the guests were unable to take as many photos of their hobby as they had hoped. They took photos of the Japanese garden, cherry blossoms, and camellias. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace it began raining heavily, but I managed to guide them through. I had planned to arrange a soba lunch, but the guests said a convenience store would be fine, so they had sandwiches on a bench at the station. It was very windy in Asakusa, but I managed to guide them, and then we visited the cherry blossoms in Ueno Park and Ueno Toshogu Shrine before parting ways at the Hotel. I received a tip.

    **Title:** What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa **Body:** The guests were a group visiting from North America. Their itinerary included Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, then watching an F1 race in Suzuka before arriving in Tokyo. They had two more days in Tokyo, one of which appeared to be reserved for Hakone. There was some confusion with this booking. The first contact was in October 2025, but communication stopped for a while. With a push from [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), there was a first response in February 2026, and I was directed to a messaging app. "Hi team! Can you contact me via [messaging app] pls" It was unclear whether the contact was an individual or an agency, but there seemed to be an intermediary involved, which made the exchange somewhat unusual. "Hiiii Amazing will answer you tomorrow! Thankssss," and so on. Once the itinerary was finalized, I asked for the guests' contact details and received one that differed from both the booking information and the earlier contact. "This!! But until Tokyo!" It seemed to mean that I should not contact them outside of Tokyo. We managed to meet, but since their meal was running late, we started at 10:30. It rained today, which made things difficult, but at Shinjuku Gyoen the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms were still in bloom, and the guests were delighted and spent a lot of time taking photos. With a large group, it was also challenging to keep everyone together. Along the way, they wanted to stop at a coffee shop, which took some time. At Meiji Shrine, some of the guests had already visited here during a trip to Japan the previous year, so they waited at the forest terrace near the entrance. I guided the others through. At the Imperial Palace Outer Garden, the guests wanted to have lunch, so I led them to a coffee shop near Wadakura Gate, but it was crowded, so they avoided it. They said a convenience store would be fine, but in the end we had a meal inside a nearby building. Since time was getting tight and we had enjoyed plenty of cherry blossom viewing at Shinjuku Gyoen, we skipped Ueno Park. At Senso-ji Temple, the rain meant fewer visitors, so we were able to move around smoothly. There was some back-and-forth throughout the day, but I believe the guests were satisfied.

    I had worked in the international business scene for over 40 years and traveled to North America and European countries over 1000 days.
    After I retired from the business, I traveled to most of the major sightseeing spots in all 47 prefectures in Japan.

    My guide is starting from a brief history of the site where I am going to guide. I usually add a briefing about Japanese culture based on religions, such as Shinto Shrine and Buddhist temples. A geographic background behind the history is also important.
    My course includes 4 to 5 (in 6 hours) sites from the following depending on where I will pick the guests up;

    I am happy to introduce Japanese Manga/Anime cultures such as Akihabara, Nakano Broadway and Ghibli related sites.
    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Ueno, and Akihabara This tour was a private day tour in Tokyo for a group from Europe. The guests had a very strong interest in Japan and Japanese culture, and they asked many questions throughout the tour. By answering these questions as they arose, I felt the guests were able to deepen their understanding of Japan and its people. The itinerary included Senso-ji Temple, Asakusa Shrine, Ueno Park, the Tokyo National Museum, a local lunch, a maid café experience in Akihabara, and the 100-yen shop 3COINS. We were able to visit most of the main destinations requested by the guests, and as a result, the guests appeared very satisfied. On the other hand, the originally planned visit to a university campus could not be carried out due to time constraints, and was unfortunately omitted. As for conditions on the day, there was a period of heavy rain at one point, which particularly affected us while walking, causing some inconvenience such as the guests' shoes getting wet. In addition, because we walked from Ueno to Akihabara, the overall time required ended up being longer than anticipated. There are no special notes or particular requests to report.
