    What's a Private One-Day Tour of Tokyo Like in Cherry Blossom Season? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had arrived in Japan the day before the tour. During this season, entry to Shinjuku Gyoen on Saturdays requires a reservation, but since we entered before 10:00 no reservation was needed. The garden was relatively uncrowded, there was no rain, and we were able to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, which the guests found deeply moving. When it began to rain, we took a break at a tea house and enjoyed some Japanese tea. We took the JR line to Harajuku, and while walking along the approach I explained the difference between shrines and temples, the history of Meiji Shrine, and the balcony of the building. After paying our respects at the main hall, we took the subway to Asakusa. At the culture and tourism center I explained the surrounding buildings, and then, while walking through the Kaminarimon gate and Nakamise shopping street, the guests enjoyed ningyo-yaki and kinako dango. For lunch they had okonomiyaki and yakisoba. After taking the subway to Shinjuku, I gave a brief introduction to Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho, and then concluded the tour. Although it rained during the day, we were able to visit all of the planned locations.

    What's a Private Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, traveling abroad after a major life milestone. It was their first time in Japan, and they had already visited Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Himeji Castle the day before coming to Hiroshima. Although it rained in Hiroshima, they listened attentively throughout the Peace Park tour. We had also planned to visit Shukkeien Garden, but since they wished to see the Peace Memorial Museum, we waited quite a while to enter the museum and gave up on Shukkeien. For okonomiyaki, we went to a well-known restaurant near their accommodation, and they very much enjoyed the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. They were pleasant to talk with, and I was able to guide them in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

    Title: What's a Private One-Day Tour of Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania, all visiting Japan for the first time. They arrived at Narita Airport the previous day and took a taxi to their Hotel. The previous day, they explored the area around their Hotel. This time, they were on an 8-day trip to Japan, planning to spend time in Tokyo before heading to Kyoto, and also planning a day trip from Kyoto to Hiroshima. The next day, the group planned to visit Disneyland together. They shared their wish, saying, "We are looking forward to seeing the cherry blossoms in full bloom in Japan." It was a tour under clear skies for the first time in a while, with weather warm enough to feel almost hot. First, we headed to Shinjuku. Since they were very keen on buying a "Welcome Suica Card," we first went to the Ekitabi Concierge at Shinjuku Station. From there, we moved to the Shinjuku East Exit. I explained "the history of Shinjuku" and "the difference between the Shinjuku East and West Exits." We strolled through Kabukicho. They enthusiastically photographed the "3D cat billboard" and the "Godzilla Head." We strolled through Omoide Yokocho and Kabukicho. I explained about "Shinto," "torii gates," "Emperor Meiji," "why sake barrels are displayed," and "why wine barrels are displayed." There were questions such as "What kind of religion is Shinto?" and "How does Buddhism differ from Shinto?" We found a family performing the "Shichi-Go-San" ritual and, with permission, took photos. We took a short break at "Forest Terrace Meiji Jingu." We moved to Shibuya. We actually crossed the Scramble Crossing. There were questions such as "How many people gather here at the busiest times?" and "Why did it become so famous?" We also took photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were comments and questions such as "It's so quiet inside the trains. No one is talking loudly," "Tokyo is clean throughout the city, with no litter on the ground," and "It's surprising that the public restrooms everywhere are clean and free." We saw them off at Iidabashi Station, and the tour concluded.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.
    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.

    Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Shibuya The guests arrived a little late to the meeting point. They had left a company-issued smartphone on the bullet train seat after arriving from Osaka the night before. We first asked a station staff member beside the ticket gate at the Marunouchi North Exit of JR Tokyo Station, which was also the nearest to their Hotel, and were told there was a lost-and-found office near the Nihombashi Exit, so we headed there. Next we were told that for the Tokaido Shinkansen there was a JR Central lost-and-found office near the Yaesu Central Exit, so we went there. When we provided the train details, we were fortunate to find that the item had been turned in, and the smartphone was safely recovered. The guests were delighted, saying this would be unthinkable in Europe. However, since this took quite a bit of time, we skipped Ueno Park, which had been planned first, and went to Asakusa. In the rain, we viewed the cherry blossoms along the Sumida River from Azuma Bridge, along with Tokyo Skytree and the Asahi Beer building, and then went to Kaminarimon. After shopping along Nakamise Street, we visited the main hall and Asakusa Shrine. There was an interesting shop on Kannon Street that caught our attention, so we stopped there as well. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, we walked around in the still-continuing rain, and inside they seemed to like the Ninomaru Garden the most. Finally, we went to the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, which the guests had requested. They were satisfied taking photos (and video) from the picture point near the Inokashira Line ticket gate, and we parted ways there.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report During the walk around Miyajima it rained heavily, and the guests seemed to have a hard time. Fortunately, the rain stopped while I was guiding them through the Peace Memorial Park, so they were able to see it without getting wet. It was the weekend, and there were many visitors arriving from a large cruise ship, so we had to wait about 15 minutes to enter Itsukushima Shrine. I had not planned to enter the museum from the start, but since I heard it was extremely crowded and visitors could not view the exhibits at their leisure even if they went in, I was glad I had left the museum off the itinerary. The guests were interested in history, so I would like to study more in order to answer their questions in greater detail. Because the weather was bad, if it had not been their first visit to Hiroshima I would have guided them to places where they could stay out of the rain, but since it was their first visit, I considered the Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima to be essential. I would like to keep finding other places and elements that will satisfy the guests as well.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Hakone Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report After meeting the guests at Tonosawa, we headed to our first destination, Nicolai Bergmann Hakone Gardens. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the various flowers and plants in the quiet grounds, where birdsong echoed through the air. Next, at Choanji Temple, they enjoyed strolling through the precincts lined with five hundred rakan statues in the same clear, fresh atmosphere. After lunch at a local restaurant, the guests had a matcha experience at the tea house in Gora Park. While observing the traditional architecture, the guests seemed to sense a part of Japanese culture. The guests said they really wanted to see Mount Fuji, so we headed to Daikanzan, where Mount Fuji appeared through a slight veil of clouds, delighting the guests greatly. Together with the final stop at the Hakone Open-Air Museum, we completed a fulfilling Hakone tour.

A Licensed Guide's Report I had planned to include Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and Ohori Park in the itinerary, hoping that today the guests would be delighted by the cherry blossoms in full bloom. However, the guests had happened to pass by Ohori Park during a walk yesterday and had already visited it. Since it rained in the morning, I quickly changed the plan and we decided to visit the National Museum. Listening to the English audio guide, the guests viewed each exhibit with great enthusiasm and also listened attentively to my explanations. Honestly, these were the first guests I had ever met who took such a deep interest in Japanese culture. For lunch, they finished every bit of the ramen, right down to the soup.     Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Hakone Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Lake Ashi, Owakudani, and Traditional Crafts The guests were a group of three visiting Japan, one of whom lives in North America and had just arrived in Japan two days earlier. Although they must have been tired, they were very energetic. Unfortunately, the anticipated view of Mount Fuji was not visible, so we made up for it with the famous black eggs at Owakudani. The boat on Lake Ashi was completely full, and I think the guests were surprised to see it crowded almost entirely with international visitors. Because of heavy rain, we took photos of the red torii gate from the lakeshore. At a local eatery, the guests took on the challenge of Japanese food such as soba and udon, and finished every bite. They were initially unfamiliar with the Maruyama yosegi marquetry and puzzle boxes, but once I introduced them, they became very interested, visited the workshop, were delighted by the demonstration, and made many purchases.

Since they had said from the beginning that walking was not a problem at all, I guided them to Toshogu Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, and Futarasan Shrine. At Toshogu Shrine, they were quietly captivated by its beauty and were deeply moved. As the guests walked at a very fast pace, we were able not only to see all of Nikko's two shrines and one temple, but also to visit the Toshogu Museum and a coffee house. Because their arrival time was late from the start, they had been worried about whether they would be able to see the highlights of Nikko.     Title: What Is a Private Miyajima Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting Miyajima. Because of the rain, we first enjoyed a charm-making experience on the island. Some of the guests helped the others make their charms, while the rest were able to relax. After the experience, the group enjoyed okonomiyaki, a local dish, along with beer, which they were very happy about. On that day, cruise ships arrived at both Hiroshima Port and Itsukaichi Port, and perhaps because of this the ticket counter for Itsukushima Shrine was extremely crowded. Since I had obtained the guests' permission in advance, I purchased the admission tickets before meeting them and guided them accordingly. After viewing Itsukushima Shrine, the guests seemed deeply moved by the great torii gate seen from the two-storied pagoda surrounded by cherry blossoms. Along the main approach, during "souvenir time," the guests enjoyed shopping in a relatively short amount of time.
