    What Is a Private Hiroshima Tour Like from Osaka? The meeting took place outside the gate. ➡By taxi to Hiroden Itsukaichi ➡Kamiyacho-nishi ➡City sightseeing, searching for products the customer wanted, Orizuru Tower, Atomic Bomb Dome, Hondori Andersen ➡Kamiyacho-nishi ➡Hiroden Itsukaichi 14:30 Saw off at the Itsukaichi Station taxi stand. Tour ended

    Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Walking Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests requested a route that would keep them out of the rain, so we spent time inside buildings, in a covered shopping arcade, an underground shopping mall, and the Orizuru Tower. The guests were very pleased to find items they had wanted to buy in Japan. From the Orizuru Tower, they could see the Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Memorial Park, the Peace Memorial Museum, and the hypocenter, and they said they were glad they had come. They listened to the explanations about the atomic bombing with sorrowful expressions. When I told them that folded paper cranes are displayed on the crane wall, they became very interested. One of the guests, whose hand was sore, asked me to fold one on their behalf, and they happily proceeded to the drop-off platform with the finished paper crane and placed it inside. Despite the rain, the guests were very cheerful and positive, which was truly a relief. I introduced Hiroshima's local foods, industry, and commerce, and regarding the food they bought and tried a variety of items. [Please apply for a port entry permit on the guest's behalf if your company is able to do so] The port entry regulations for guides at Itsukaichi Port have been changed at some point, and today, despite the heavy rain, I was told that anyone without a port entry permit could not enter. I had prepared for the rain with a raincoat and umbrella, but I ended up soaked through while waiting one hour to meet the guests. There was no roof, so I had no choice but to wait outside in front of the gate. When the taxi carrying the guests arrived, I was so drenched that I hesitated to get in. I soiled the seat with rainwater, so I did my best to wipe it with a towel I had and apologized to the driver. It is unclear when or why the port entry permit for guides became necessary. This evening I spoke with someone who had actually completed the port entry permit procedure, and they said an entry permit is required each time and that the procedure is quite troublesome. I searched about this after returning home. If a company can register multiple people, I would very much like to ask your company to handle this. https://www.pref.hiroshima.lg.jp/uploaded/attachment/102654.pdf When I visit companies for other work, the company sends a notice in advance. Upon receiving that notice, my name is added to a list, and when I visit, the security staff finds my name on the list and I am able to pass through the gate.

    Hello! My name is Miki. I was born and brought up in Hiroshima. I enjoy traveling around Inland Sea areas and I enjoy chatting with guests from overseas!

    In Hiroshima, you can see many beautiful rivers and old bridges. Lately, I often take photos of Hiroshima city including bridges and rivers. There are not many tall buildings here, but I know some places you can visit and see the view for free. By the atomic bomb dome, there is a building called Orizuru(paper crane) Tower. You need to pay to go up to the top floor but you can see the view of Hiroshima city and the Miyajima Island(Itsukushima).

    Many tourists from overseas as well as Japan want to visit Miyajima Island. You can see a beautiful shrine from Heian Period which is around 12th century and a huge Torii gate in front of the shrine and it is in the water. There are several ways to visit the island from Hiroshima city. If you are going to stay near JR Hiroshima Station, we will visit the island by JR train and JR ferry. If you are staying in the city area, we can go there by streetcar and ferry, or there is a high-speed boat from Peace Memorial Park pier directly to the island and vise versa.

    Title: What Is a Private Kumano Kodo and Nachi Falls Walking Tour Like in Rainy Weather? A Licensed Guide's Report Because the forecast had shown a 100% chance of afternoon rain since the previous day, I changed the planned 9:30 meeting to 8:20 at Nachi Station, and moved the planned lunch at Nachisan to lunch in Shingu. The guests were a group visiting from Europe, and they said they had been very much looking forward to the tour. We took the 8:24 bus and got off at Daimonzaka, where I explained about the Kumano Kodo and we started our walk. The group were strong walkers, and as planned we visited Daimonzaka, Seiganto-ji Temple, Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine, and the three-storied pagoda. They were deeply moved by the grandeur of Nachi Falls. We took a bus from the front of the falls, transferred buses at Nachi Station, and got off in front of Shingu High School. There happened to be a Sukiya right in front, so we had lunch there. Since it had started to rain, we put on rain coats and I guided them only around the torii gate of Kamikura Shrine. At Hayatama Taisha Shrine, we took photos and paid our respects. We walked to Shingu Castle and climbed the stone steps to a point where the Kumano River could be seen, but at that point one of the guests said the rain was too heavy to keep walking, so we walked from there to Shingu Station. We had an hour to wait, but there was a waiting room, so we spent the time there talking and looking at photos I had taken previously. When the train came we boarded, and as they wanted to confirm the next day's tickets, we went to Kii-Katsuura Station and had it handled there, ending the tour. The rain in the latter half was unfortunate, but they said it was good that we had been able to sightsee in Nachi during the morning.

    Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was rainy from the morning, and on top of that, many cruise ships had arrived in port, so even with a reservation, the museum at the Peace Park had a very long line. Because of this, I slightly changed the guiding route and had the guests visit the museum on their own after lunch. I arranged their return taxi and handed the taxi driver a note written in Japanese so they would not mistake the port. Shukkeien Garden and the okonomiyaki restaurant were quiet, in contrast to the Peace Park, so although it was raining, I believe the guests were able to relax.

    Title: What Is a Private Rainy-Day Tour of Arashiyama in Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America visiting Japan for the first time. Their itinerary included Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara, before returning to Tokyo and heading home. Since it was their last day in Kyoto, they requested Arashiyama. As a taxi from the hotel all the way to Arashiyama would have been too expensive, we tried to take a train to Arashiyama from JR Nijo Station near Nijo Castle, but that very day there happened to be a personal accident on the line and the trains were stopped. I felt sorry for the guests, but we took a taxi once again to Arashiyama. Although it had not been particularly planned, at Hiranoya, a teahouse with 300 years of history in the Toriimoto preservation district, we enjoyed shinko mochi and matcha, taking a little break before the tour had even begun. When I explained the way to enjoy matcha and the spirit behind it, it was quite well received by everyone. Today, as a gentle rain fell throughout the day, I explained the history of Saga-Arashiyama. I knew this group was not particularly seeking detailed historical explanations, but I still wanted them to sense what Saga-Arashiyama is historically, so undeterred by the rain, I explained things one by one — the Saga Imperial Villa, the Hyakunin Isshu, Fujiwara no Teika, Mukai Kyorai, Emperor Go-Daigo and Ashikaga Takauji, Suminokura Ryoi, cherry blossoms, Adashino and Toribeno, jizo statues, the Sento Kuyo ritual, Onmyodo, and Atago Shrine — without using any proper nouns at all. Everyone listened to me with surprising patience and in silence, and I only hope I did not misread the mood. The cherry blossoms were approaching full bloom, and the weeping cherry blossoms in the Tenryu-ji garden were magnificent, delighting everyone greatly. Indeed, the spring and cherry blossoms of Arashiyama, veiled in rain and mist, have a truly indescribable and distinctive quality, just as Zhou Enlai once expressed in a poem. I would be happy if they could feel that and cherish it as a good memory.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They mentioned they run a dairy farm and live in a very small village. We visited the places they had originally requested. At the station, I explained that they did not need to display the Suica screen on their phone each time, because the ticket gate recognizes Suica even through a closed case, but one of the guests kept opening it every time and always checked the amount, possibly because a credit card was also stored inside. Perhaps a cautious person, while another in the group passed through easily. They also did not seem particularly interested in the cherry blossoms; even when seeing the trees in full bloom, they did not take photos or show much reaction, so it was somewhat hard to tell whether they were enjoying themselves. At Tsukiji they did not eat anything, so when I mentioned that Japanese strawberries are truly delicious, they said, "Then let's buy strawberries," and purchased a pack of Tochiotome. While buying Welcome Suica cards at the JR Cafe in Tokyo Station, they enjoyed the strawberries at the table. "These are delicious," was the reaction, especially well received by the younger members of the group. At the East Gardens, one of the guests said they liked gardens and took many photos there, though elsewhere it was only occasional photography. Afterward, arriving in Shinjuku from Meiji Shrine, we waited about five minutes until 17:30 when the 3D cat appears and filmed a video. I thought they might be interested in the Godzilla Head, but they were not familiar with Godzilla itself, so the reaction was muted. When we stopped by Omoide Yokocho, many tourists were dining and the shops were full, and here they showed interest, saying, "Maybe we'll have dinner here tonight." After that, since the bus meeting point for going to Lake Kawaguchiko to see Mount Fuji is the Love object, I guided them there, and then we headed to the final stop at the Metropolitan Government Building, where we parted ways. Although the wait was 40 minutes, they said it was "no problem at all" and lined up. It was an unfortunate day with rain coming and going, but they did not use umbrellas, saying "no problem because we have rain wear," and one of the guests in particular said they "like the atmosphere of rain," so they did not mind at all. At the end, they thanked me with smiles, and said "Here, this is for you," giving me a Swedish coin, so I would like to consider today's guiding a success as well.

    What's a Rainy-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Nihonbashi [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private Tokyo tour for a group visiting from North America. As rain was forecast for the day, the tour began after the group agreed in advance that the itinerary might be adjusted flexibly according to the weather. We first headed to Asakusa by subway. During the ride, the guests were very surprised by the cleanliness of Japan's subway system. In Asakusa, they experienced the temple culture and the lively atmosphere of Nakamise, and afterward they were able to see cherry blossoms in full bloom along the Sumida River embankment, which delighted them greatly. Next, we used the subway to move to Tsukiji Market. Since it was a larger group, they preferred to explore freely and split into two smaller groups. Later, one of the guests contacted me by email to say they were at a coffee shop, so we regrouped there. Due to time and weather constraints, we decided to skip the originally planned visit to Meiji Shrine, and at the group's request we headed to Coredo Muromachi in Nihonbashi. They wished to purchase a knife at a specialty shop, and I provided supplementary explanations in English regarding the staff's descriptions. In the end, they purchased the knife they wanted, and as it was exactly the scheduled end time, we parted ways there. On this tour, the guests showed strong interest in all three areas — Asakusa, Tsukiji, and Nihonbashi — and seemed satisfied overall. It was especially memorable that, through the knife purchase, they were able to experience the depth of Japanese culture.

    During my university years, I lived in a dormitory for four years and had the opportunity to live with many international students.
    Of course, we spoke English.
    After graduating from university, I started working as an English teacher at a junior high school.
    I was able to have a fun teaching life while interacting with many students. During that time, I continued to study English on my own and obtained the pre-1st grade English proficiency test.
    After that, I worked for the Board of Education as a supervisor in charge of English education, and then managed a school as a vice principal, and later principal.
    After retiring from teaching, I took the TOEIC (L&R) and achieved my highest score of 945.
    I also obtained a license as a national guide-interpreter, and began working as a guide for overseas visitors in English.
    Currently, I guide tourists to several places around the country.

    What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America, and this was their first time in Japan for most of them. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to travel to Kyoto and Osaka. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed deeply impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was very different from Shibuya. At Shinjuku Gyoen, they seemed impressed by the cherry blossoms in full bloom and the beautiful Japanese garden. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to the historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo shogunate. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened with interest to explanations about the difference between temples and shrines, as well as the Kaminarimon Gate. Although it happened to be rainy today, I responded according to the guests' wishes, so I believe they were satisfied. Since this was a tour with a vehicle, there were no advance transportation expenses for the guide to be reimbursed.

    What Does a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Akihabara The guests were a group from Oceania visiting Japan for the first time. Before coming to Tokyo, they had already visited Osaka and Hiroshima, and after sightseeing in Tokyo they planned to return home.     What Is a Private Morning Walking Tour of Takayama Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour started at 11:00 a.m., so we headed directly to the morning market, which is only open in the morning. After that, we made our way to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine. Along the approach to the shrine, I explained the connection between the anime "Jujutsu Kaisen," the character Ryomen Sukuna, and the shrine, and one of the guests seemed very interested. Afterward, since the group wished to take a walk along the Higashiyama Walking Course, we strolled partway at a leisurely pace, and at their request we stopped at a local eatery that is popular even among residents. Next, the guests viewed the exhibits on Takayama Castle and its lords at the town museum, and while passing through the adjacent town exchange hall and a nearby shop for making food samples, I introduced some activities for the guests. Since they mentioned that they had walked through the old townscape the day before and had stopped at shops such as a miso store, I briefly guided them to some shops selling local crafts. During the itinerary, I explained the overview of facilities such as the Kusakabe Folk Museum, the Takayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall, and the Takayama Jinya, and confirmed whether they wished to enter, but the guests seemed to prefer walking, such as visiting the Higashiyama temples, rather than going inside the facilities.
