    Title: What Is a Hidden-Gems Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Oceania on their first trip to Japan. Since arriving in Japan a couple of days earlier, they had already explored the used-book district of Kanda-Jimbocho and had seen the standing statue of Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, located in Kanagawa Prefecture. They booked a guide for a Tokyo tour because they were interested in places off the usual tourist trail — spots where you can catch a glimpse of local everyday life — and had chosen an "off-the-beaten-path tour." At the first stop, the Imperial Palace, just as we were about to leave the main gate, we happened to witness a newly appointed ambassador entering through the main gate in a horse-drawn carriage, a rare sight not usually seen. The guests were delighted by this. When we visited the National Art Center, Tokyo, I mentioned that its café was the model for a scene in the anime film "Your Name." As anime fans, they told me that "Your Name" was already on their list of films they intended to watch. At the former Nogi Residence we visited, there is a flowering dogwood tree planted by MacArthur, and I was able to connect this with the MacArthur statue they had seen the day before, which they found very interesting. Building on the New York Times report (on General Nogi's ritual suicide) that we saw at the Nogi Shrine treasure hall, I was also able to introduce them to General Nogi's grave at Aoyama Cemetery. In the cemetery I also guided them to the grave of Professor Ueno, where the Hachiko stone monument stands, as well as the foreigners' section, and they took many photographs. For lunch, they wanted to try "katsu," which they had not yet eaten, and they enjoyed tonkatsu at a restaurant, saying it was "delicious!" In the Yanaka shopping street, they bought rice crackers with coarse sugar and black sesame from a long-established rice cracker shop.

    What Is a 6-Hour Private Himeji Castle Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, and the tour, originally planned for 4 hours, was extended to 6 hours. Everyone was a strong walker, so we were able to move around smoothly. At each spot, the guests observed with great interest and listened attentively to the guide's explanations. One of the guests mentioned coming from North America, with family roots in Okinawa, and I felt they had a very high level of interest in Japan. At Engyoji Temple, we spent a bit too much time. Also, since some of the guests were a little hungry and wished to have a light meal, we stopped at a nearby café before visiting Koko-en Garden. As a result, Koko-en Garden and Himeji Castle became a somewhat rushed visit. After the tour, the guests wanted to have a meal, so I introduced several restaurants near Himeji Station, and we parted ways there. The guests commented that they were glad they had followed the guide's recommendation to extend the tour from 4 hours to 6 hours.

    1) Tako-yaki

    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because the guests wanted to spend a good amount of relaxed time at Shukkeien Garden, we only stopped for photos at Hiroshima Castle on the way, and the Peace Memorial Park portion became a little rushed. We had a reservation for the World Heritage Sea Route boat, so we were able to board, though it was fully booked. At the guests' request, we canceled the planned meal and switched to a simple snack instead. On Miyajima, there were many questions about religion. The guests were very knowledgeable about the background of the atomic bombing and even the destructive power of nuclear weapons today. A wide variety of topics came up, from politics to baseball. They often joked around and enjoyed taking photos.

    Can You Do a Private Tokyo Day Tour Covering Asakusa, Akihabara, and Meiji Shrine? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time. I had been told in advance that walking long distances would be difficult, so we kept the pace comfortable throughout the day. After a light breakfast at a cafe, we headed to Nakamise Street in Asakusa. The lively atmosphere and the charm of the souvenir shops made a strong impression on the guests. Next, we went to Akihabara. I thought the town of anime might be appealing, and indeed the guests were delighted, happily searching for all sorts of things they wanted to buy. There seemed to be so much to explore that it felt like we could have spent the entire day just there. After that, we visited Meiji Shrine. We spotted children dressed in kimono for a Shichi-Go-San celebration and took some photos for the guests, who were very pleased. Here the guests drew an omikuji fortune slip and remarked that it was "a good lesson for life." On Takeshita Street, the guests were surprised by the animal cafes. As the knee began to hurt a little, I arranged for a taxi and gave instructions to drop the guests off at the hotel, ending the tour.

    What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like With a Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report on Toshogu, Rinnoji, and an Unexpected Hospital Visit The guests were a group visiting from Europe. They had stayed two nights at a hotel near Lake Chuzenji before the tour. On the day of the tour, they came from their hotel by taxi, so we arranged to meet at Shinkyo Bridge. The day before, while they were on their way to the hotel, I received a message saying that one of the guests had been experiencing severe back pain since the previous day and wanted to visit a hospital, asking whether I knew a good place. It was a Sunday, and by the time I noticed the message they were already on the hotel shuttle bus, so I contacted the hotel to ask them to help in some way. On the day of the tour, the back pain was still present, but the wish was to start the tour and see how things went. Since it was raining and there was a desire for coffee, I guided the group to a cafe near Shinkyo Bridge, and after discussing the day's plan there, we proceeded as scheduled to Rinnoji Temple and Toshogu Shrine. However, watching the group, it seemed that the pain was being endured with great effort, so at lunchtime I checked how they wanted to proceed. It turned out that the pain was gradually getting worse, and there was a wish to go to a hospital if possible, so I looked into nearby hospitals. At first the request was to go to a small private clinic, so I called several places that might be able to help, but each clinic said that if it involved the nerves, it would be better to go to a large hospital. We therefore decided to go to the nearest municipal hospital that seemed likely to provide a detailed examination. It was a hospital I had never been to myself, but the staff were very kind, it was not very crowded, and they handled everything carefully, which seemed to reassure the guests. Since I am not used to medical terminology in English, I asked about the symptoms little by little together with the doctor while using a dictionary, but before long a nurse who could speak English appeared and the examination proceeded smoothly. After that, a blood test and an MRI were scheduled, and while waiting I was told that I was no longer needed and could go home, so the tour ended there. Afterward, I received a message from the guests saying that an injection had eased the pain and that medication had been provided, which was a great relief. It was fortunate that this was not an injury or accident during the tour, but since there may be occasions like this in the future where I accompany guests to a hospital, I strongly felt that I should study medical English on a regular basis.

    Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Since they wanted to see as much as possible, we discussed the options in advance and decided on the destinations together. Although it was not in the original plan, the guests enjoyed tuna sashimi and vegetable tempura at Tsukiji Fish Market, which they were delighted with. In Asakusa, they tried ningyo-yaki and strawberry daifuku, and purchased a Hello Kitty pouch as a gift. They found Nezu Shrine quiet and full of atmosphere, and liked it very much. They were also impressed by the vastness of the Imperial Palace grounds and the liveliness of Shibuya. At the end, I explained how to get back to their accommodation and we said goodbye on the platform. I received words of thanks that it had been a wonderful tour, and I headed home feeling reassured.

    What Is a Private Himeji Castle and Kokoen Garden Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. One of the guests was visiting Japan for the second time, while the other members were in Japan for the first time, having arrived in Osaka only the day before. Although they all came from Oceania, their places of birth varied, including Asia, Europe, and Oceania. The meeting point for today was planned to be in front of the central ticket gate at Himeji Station, but the guests had arrived in Himeji earlier than the scheduled meeting time and did not come to the planned meeting point, so I contacted them and we met at a different location. After meeting, I explained the overview of Himeji Castle at Castle View, and we headed toward the castle. As today's group was large and included both older and younger members, walking speeds varied, and it took some time overall. Within the inner moat of Himeji Castle, we visited the ongoing "Chrysanthemum Exhibition" and the "old west great pillar" as we made our way toward the castle. When it became clear that the interior of the main keep of Himeji Castle has a seven-story structure accessible only by stairs, one of the guests decided to wait outside rather than enter the castle. For this reason, I guided the remaining guests through the castle, explaining its exterior and interior structure, defensive features, and the story of Princess Sen. Next, at Kokoen Garden, we toured the garden while also making use of a wheelchair. However, instead of visiting the originally planned "rooftop of Egret Himeji," the guests said they "wanted to eat at a restaurant where locals go," so I took them to a restaurant near Himeji Station and ended the tour there. Large-group tours can sometimes lack cohesion, but today the group came together reasonably well, and the guests seemed pleased.

    What Is a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the East Gardens, Tokyo Tower, and Shibuya I arrived at the Hotel at almost the same time the guests came down to the lobby, so we were able to meet up 20 minutes early. The guests were from Oceania, and having previously lived in Africa, the English they spoke was very easy to understand, which was a great help. In the morning I guided them around the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Tower, and we had lunch at a casual cafe in Shibuya. When I mentioned the MEGA Don Quijote in Shibuya, they said they would like to shop there, so I set aside about an hour of free time for everyone to purchase whatever they liked. At Yoyogi Park we walked through an event venue and eventually arrived at Shibuya Koen-dori, so I took them back to Shibuya Station once more, showed them the platform for the Hanzomon Line, which would take them back to the Hotel without any transfers, and we parted ways.
