What Does a First-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

This was the first day for guests visiting Japan for the first time. We began at Meiji Shrine, where the guests enthusiastically photographed the fine details of the shrine architecture. They deeply felt the mystery of the sacred grounds, so seamlessly blended with nature. At the outer Tsukiji market, after strolling around and trying yakitori, the guests settled in at the counter seats of a sushi restaurant and ordered an omakase course. They also enjoyed beer and sake and seemed very satisfied. Although I did not sit with them, I checked on them from time to time. After the meal, one of the guests, who enjoys cooking, listened intently to an explanation of Japanese kitchen knives at a specialty shop and purchased two premium ones. We then strolled through Asakusa before parting ways. Although it was a short amount of time, the guests appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Tour Report by Kei

Born and raised in Tokyo a half-century ago, I have lived in Tokyo all my life except for one year in the UK to study for a master’s course. I am a Tokyo Native with viewpoints based on broader local knowledge than anyone else. I have specialised in Japanese history, culture, and architecture since I was an architect.
Also, I am a foodie emphasising Japanese traditional & healthy foods. I’ve been to many countries around the world, such as the US, Central America, Europe, and Asia. As such, I believe I can anticipate the needs of foreign tourists in Japan.

My strong area includes Yanesen; Old Temples in a Quaint Village, Kamakura, Asakusa Sensoji, Meiji Shrine and Imperial Palace. All give you peace of mind.
