    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, and Higashiyama Body: The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. In the assignment, the accommodation was listed as one hotel, but this was a mistake and the actual accommodation was a different hotel. Because it was on the opposite side of Kyoto Station, it took more than ten minutes even at a run, and the tour started about 20 minutes late. As usual, I had confirmed the accommodation in advance, but I had not received a clear reply. I should have been more persistent in confirming. We were able to meet without any problem, but the guests seemed to finally notice the confirmation message I had sent and apologized repeatedly. The group had a good balance overall, and I felt I could perhaps pay a little more attention to some of the quieter members. Some of the guests loved taking photos and took plenty of shots here and there while on the move. The guests had a fair amount of knowledge about Japan. Nijo Castle was included in the plan, but once we finished at Fushimi Inari, the guests said they did not need to visit Nijo Castle and would rather take their time with photography. After Kiyomizu-dera, time passed as we wandered around, and the tour ended at Sannenzaka. Photos were taken at the Yasaka Pagoda.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Full-Day Cultural Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors who had a deep interest in Japanese history and culture, so we ended up having long conversations in many places throughout the day. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures. At Nihonbashi, we talked about the five highways of the Edo period and the various policies the Tokugawa shogunate implemented to maintain stability. We also looked at the kimono displayed in front of the Mitsukoshi department store, as well as the Western and Japanese confectioneries in the basement food hall. At Sensoji Temple, we discussed its history and its significance to the local community, including the story of the people of the Asakusa area who rebuilt it again and again after suffering major damage from fires, earthquakes, and bombings. At Meiji Shrine, we happened to visit during the autumn grand festival. The guests were very interested in the chrysanthemum exhibition, the displays of regional specialty products, the ikebana flower arrangements, the bottles offered from sake breweries, and the confectionery offerings. It was my mistake that the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace were closed, but instead the guests listened with interest to stories about the Mitsubishi district around Otemachi. The guests appeared very satisfied. I also guided them to the Tokyo International Forum, as one of the guests had an interest in architecture, and they were impressed by it from the perspective of its architectural structure.

    What's a 23-Hour Layover Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a visitor from North America who loved to travel. This trip's main destination was elsewhere in Asia, and since they flew with ANA, a stopover in Tokyo was possible, so during a 23-hour layover they wanted to see Tokyo. Because their accommodation was a hotel in Shibuya during the previous night's Halloween festivities, arriving from Haneda the night before had apparently been quite a challenge. The guest was very cheerful and outgoing, the kind of person who could laugh off such difficulties. In Asakusa, they took a liking to the omamori charms and bought about four, likely including some as souvenirs. They also picked up a "GeGeGe no Kitaro" T-shirt for a family member — not One Piece, not Naruto, but GeGeGe no Kitaro, which showed they had quite a dedicated manga fan in the family. The guest was the type who skips breakfast and wanted a hearty lunch. Since they asked me to choose, we enjoyed an old-fashioned Chinese-style noodle soup at a Showa-retro ramen shop called Tanaka Soba, and they were delighted. After that, we visited Tokyo Station and Meiji Shrine before heading back to Shibuya. The guest said they couldn't believe such a tranquil, peaceful, calm place existed so close to the chaos of Shibuya, and Meiji Shrine seemed to be their favorite spot. Afterward, they wanted to enjoy shopping at UNIQLO and Shibuya 109 right up until heading to the airport, so we said goodbye at the UNIQLO on Dogenzaka next to 109. They said they would like to come back to Japan next year.

    What Is a Slow-Paced Private Kobe Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests took a slow-paced tour, using elevators and escalators and avoiding stairs as much as possible. Although the weather was unfortunately poor, they seemed very satisfied with the magnificent views from the top of the Nunobiki ropeway and from the bridge. One of the guests appeared to enjoy photography and was frequently taking pictures. At the Hakutsuru Sake Brewery, they enjoyed a sake tasting and purchased some souvenirs. As they were feeling a little tired, they returned to their cruise ship by taxi after visiting the brewery, and we parted ways there.

    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know

    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo's Hamarikyu, Yanaka, and Nezu Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe and North America who had become friends while traveling and had continued to travel together ever since. They were a wonderful, cheerful, and talkative group. Since they had not had time to buy a transportation card the day before, I helped them install the SUICA app. At Hamarikyu Gardens, they enjoyed the contrast between the garden and the surrounding buildings. In Yanaka, they enjoyed pastries from a recommended bakery and took in the views of the retro streets. Starting from a conversation about religion at Nezu Shrine, our discussions expanded to social topics while we walked, making this a fun tour where I was able to talk with the guests about many different things.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe on their first trip to Japan, planning to continue on to Hakone, Hiroshima, and Kyoto starting the day after next. A travel agency was involved as an intermediary. The booking had come in back in June, but during the preparation stage the agency said they would be in touch in October. When I reached out in October, they said they would contact me two weeks before the tour. I was wondering how things would turn out, when they simply sent me the guests' email address and said the rest was up to me. It was a bit stressful, and after two or three rounds of changes, the itinerary was finally settled just before the tour. I'm not sure whether it was because the guests were busy or simply the nature of the agency, but it was a case that required careful attention. I have two more bookings coming through this same agency, so I will need to stay attentive. The guests turned out to be surprisingly easygoing, which made me think their busyness may have been the reason for the earlier difficulties. Since it was their first day, the guests wanted to visit as many different types of places as possible, which led to the itinerary described above. At Tsukiji, it was not long after breakfast, so they did not eat anything in particular. From the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, we were fortunate enough to see Mount Fuji, which is a rare treat. Afterwards, at Omoide Yokocho, they enjoyed the izakaya-style menu. At Meiji Shrine, a chrysanthemum exhibition was being held, which they were delighted to see. I took them to Takeshita Street, but as they were a little tired by then, we did not go in. We reached the Imperial Palace Outer Garden before it got dark, and I was able to help them understand the history of Tokyo (from the Edo shogunate through the Meiji Restoration to the Pacific War).

    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day History and Garden Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour began at 10:50 with a meeting at the designated Hotel, followed by a brief interview. The guest was a solo traveler visiting Japan for the first time, spending two days in Tokyo during a layover en route to Asia. The guest wished to see historical sites and also enjoyed gardens. Although the guest had only arrived that morning and was tired, we toured entirely on foot with no rest breaks, aside from enjoying some sweet potato yokan soft serve and ningyo-yaki along Nakamise Street. The guest was traveling for work in the medical field but was very knowledgeable about Japan, and our conversation flowed not only around history but also literature and art, making for a truly enjoyable day. When I mentioned the Tale of Genji featured in a historical drama series, the guest expressed interest in watching it. Regarding contemporary art, the guest had recently visited a Yayoi Kusama exhibition abroad and kindly showed me photos. The guest planned to have dinner in Shinjuku that evening with a friend of a friend, so I shared recommendations and tips for Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai. I also answered questions about the western part of Tokyo that the guest planned to explore the next day.

    Title: What's a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Nogizaka, Roppongi, and Tokyo Tower The guests were a curious group visiting from North America. In advance, they had requested sightseeing spots that would not be too crowded. Since their accommodation was on the western side of central Tokyo, I proposed a route of Meiji Shrine → Nogizaka → Roppongi → Tokyo Tower. At the meeting point, I confirmed the itinerary and had the guests download the Suica transit app onto their smartphones before we began the tour. The guests were interested in food, history, and culture — especially cultural elements not found in their home region. After guiding them through Meiji Shrine (they were also interested in the chrysanthemum festival, and when they asked about the konpeito sugar candy sold at the souvenir shop, I explained each ingredient one by one, and they amusingly joked, "Since it has no flavor, it's just sugar candy"), we went to Aoyama Square so they could experience traditional Japanese crafts. Both guests examined the traditional crafts with great interest, purchasing items such as a washi paper notepad and a towel made from natural materials. They also asked about the regions where the crafts are produced, and I answered accordingly. After staying about 30 minutes, we walked toward the Nogizaka area. I guided them to the former Nogi Residence (the room associated with the historical event could be glimpsed slightly from outside) and explained its background and history. In the garden, offerings such as sacred sake used in Shinto rituals had been prepared. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of its founding, people were praying and taking commemorative photos at Nogi Shrine. Avoiding the crowd, I had them view the newly rebuilt worship hall and main sanctuary. I was also able to hear about certain religious customs from one of the guests. We continued on foot. While resting at a juice shop in Tokyo Midtown, the guests mentioned the breakfast they had eaten that morning at their traditional inn. When I explained that pickled plums and pickles taste even better when eaten together with rice, they nodded in agreement. I guided them on foot along a route from the National Art Center to Roppongi Hills, then took the subway again toward Tokyo Tower. The guests went up to the main deck on their own. When I talked about onigiri rice balls, it seemed difficult for the guests to picture nori seaweed, so while waiting in the mall beneath the tower I bought a can of bonito-flavored seaweed, and when we met again they tried it and loved it. I gave them the whole can. We checked the route back to the inn on our respective maps, and after guiding them to the station, we parted ways. I also introduced recommended gyoza restaurants in Tokyo, as well as recommendations for Nikko (they mentioned wanting to hike, but because of recent bear sightings, I advised them to check with a tourist information center for safety just in case) and Kyoto, sharing photos and messages, so I hope they enjoy the rest of their trip to the fullest.

    What Is a Private Day Tour of Nikko Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because it was peak season, the bus service was running irregularly. Since crowds were also expected, I placed Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park at the very beginning of the itinerary, and then added a visit to Toshogu Shrine even though it overlapped with the lunch period. This was, of course, done with the guests' approval. As a result, the visit to Shinkyo Bridge, the gateway to Nikko, came last of all. I apologized for this at the end, but the guests seemed to understand my reasoning and accepted it. The guests had previously worked in Japan for about four years, so they had a good understanding of the appeal of Japan. Their questions were also very apt, and we were able to converse from many different angles, making it a two-way conversation, so I believe they were satisfied. There was just one question I could not answer — "Why do monks shave their heads?" — so I plan to look into it and let them know at a later date. Since one of the guests had pain in the heel, I stayed close by and provided a little support, being careful of stairs and slopes where they tended to fall behind, but partway through they used pole walking and kindly reassured me, saying "It's fine, it's fine."

I made sure to keep a comfortable, unhurried pace throughout the day. That said, the guests love walking, and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park. Along the way, they had lunch with fruit and nuts they had brought along, and they kindly shared some with me. They asked many questions about Japanese history and the relationship between the Emperor and the Shogun. I suspect this was influenced by a television drama about a shogun, and it made me think I should watch it myself sometime.
