What Is a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Although they were older, the walking tour went smoothly without any particular problems. They had arrived in Japan the day before, and after sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to travel around various parts of Japan on a cruise. I guided them through Hamarikyu Gardens, Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine. At each location, they listened to the explanations while enjoying the atmosphere. Since some of the guests preferred not to eat raw fish, we had lunch at a restaurant in Tsukiji that also offered other menu options. The seats were spacious and it was not very crowded, so they were able to relax and enjoy their meal, and they seemed pleased with it. Finally, I saw them off at their hotel, and we parted ways.

Can You Do a Private Hakone Day Tour with a Cable Car, Ropeway, and Pirate Ship Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wished to travel from Odawara Station to Kyoto Station after the tour. Before the tour began, I mentioned this to the driver, who advised that if we missed the "Hikari" departing Odawara Station at 16:07 (arriving Kyoto Station at 18:12), the only option for a while afterward would be the "Kodama," which takes over three hours, so it would be better to head to Odawara Station in time for this "Hikari." I passed this along to the guests and adjusted the itinerary so that they could at the latest catch the "Kodama" departing at 16:35 (arriving Kyoto Station at 19:34). As a result, because the driver took a detour route with less traffic, we had extra time and the guests were able to take photos of Odawara Castle, but I feel apologetic that the tour ended earlier than the scheduled time. When we disembarked from the pirate ship at Hakonemachi Port, the guests realized they had left their passport at the hotel, so we suddenly had to return to the hotel partway through. Because of this, at Hakone Shrine we only had time for a photo in front of the Peace Torii Gate. Although this was a tour with a vehicle, the guests also wished to ride the cable car and ropeway, so we used both from Gora Station to Togendai Station. I have attached the receipts for the ropeway and the Hakone pirate ship.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

Title: What Can You See in a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. One member of the group joined on their own while another had commitments elsewhere. Since the group could only stay in Tokyo for a short time and rain was forecast for the following day, I tried to visit as many major spots as possible on the day of the tour. At Meiji Shrine, there happened to be a Noh performance dedicated as part of the autumn grand festival, so I added it to the itinerary because I wanted to show it to them. Unfortunately, this meant we ended up going back and forth in the same area, for which I felt apologetic. The guests kindly said that riding the train was a good experience too, which was a relief. The guests mentioned that they had another tour after this one and wanted to return to the Hotel afterward. When I listened more closely, I learned that the meeting point for their next tour (a sumo tour) was in Asakusa, so I recommended parting ways in Asakusa rather than returning to the Hotel. In the end, we confirmed the meeting point for their next tour and the Toei Asakusa Line station for their return, and then said goodbye. It was a fun tour with cheerful and kind guests.

    • 13:45-14:15 Sanjusangendo
    • 14:30 Yamamoto Ryokan

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. The original itinerary was Hotel → Arashiyama Bamboo Grove → Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple → Kinkaku-ji → Nijo Castle → lunch → Fushimi Inari → Hotel, but since heavy downpours were expected from around noon into the afternoon, I rearranged the plan to Hotel → Fushimi Inari → Arashiyama Bamboo Grove → Kinkaku-ji → Nijo Castle → lunch (a yakiniku restaurant) → Sanjusangen-do → Hotel. This rearrangement worked out very well, as we were able to spend the heaviest rain during lunch, in the car, and at Sanjusangen-do, and the guests were very grateful. The guests were very quiet and not talkative, but they responded to all of the guide's usual jokes. Lunch was their first yakiniku experience. The tenderness of the wagyu beef and the style of grilling the meat on a net right in front of them seemed very unique to them, and they thoroughly enjoyed it.

What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour to Kifune, Kinkakuji, and Ryoanji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were from Oceania. I took them to Kifune (Kifune Shrine), Kinkakuji, and Ryoanji. Both said that Kinkakuji was their favorite. They had hoped to see the autumn foliage and wished to visit Kifune, but unfortunately it was still too early for the leaves to change color. The weather forecast had predicted rain after the tour would end, but it began raining partway through, which made it a somewhat disappointing tour. At Horikawa-Imadegawa, the city bus did not arrive on time and I kept the guests waiting for about 20 minutes, for which I felt very sorry.

What Can You See on a 7-Hour Private Tour of Nagoya Castle and Inuyama? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour was conducted over a 7-hour time frame, with an itinerary that included visiting Nagoya Castle and the more distant town of Inuyama. I planned the guided tour around key timing points — the train departure time from Nagoya Station, the reserved lunch time, and the return train time from Inuyama — being mindful not to spend too much time at any single site while ensuring the guests could enjoy the highlights of each location. Since we were able to visit each site almost exactly on schedule and return to the Hotel, the guests were very pleased. The guests visited Nagoya Castle, one of Japan's three most famous castles, and Inuyama Castle, one of the five national treasure castles, on the same day, and they were very satisfied. They also greatly enjoyed the atmosphere of Urakuen Garden, home to the national treasure tea house Jo-an, and I took photos of the guests in various spots, which they were delighted with.

One of the guests had a strong interest in and considerable knowledge of Japanese history and culture, while another was less interested in those topics and more drawn to shopping. Even so, the group appeared genuinely moved by sights such as the garden at Nijo Castle and the Senbon Torii at Fushimi Inari Taisha, and took many photos there. What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour from a Cruise Ship? A Licensed Guide's Report Throughout our email exchanges beforehand, the guests always replied promptly, and when we met in person they turned out to be very friendly and lovely. For meeting cruise ship passengers, the Immigration area on the second floor works well, as the pillars are numbered and easy to identify. The guests were traveling by cruise ship and had only this one day to sightsee in Tokyo, so I made every effort to help them create as many wonderful memories as possible. At Meiji Shrine, an autumn grand festival was being held, so they were able to see the ceremony as well as displays of chrysanthemums and fresh flowers at just the right time. In Harajuku, the guests purchased a Tokyo-limited T-shirt at a guitar shop (FENDER FLAGSHIP TOKYO). The design was very stylish and refined, and I thought 4,400 yen was great value.

Kochi: Hirome Market & Kameizumi Sake Brewery

    Tour Itinerary

    • 10:30 @ Meet at Kochi Port
    • 11:00~11:50 @ Hirome Market
    • 12:15~13:00 @ Paper Museum
    • 13:30~14:30 @ Kameizumi Sake Brewery
    • 15:30 @ Disband at Kochi Port

What Is a Private Day Tour of Kochi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The meeting was scheduled for 10:00, but the ship seemed to arrive a little late, so the guests gathered at 10:30. We had originally planned to visit Kochi Castle first, but since the guests were tired from long travels around Japan, we skipped Kochi Castle and went to Hirome Market first. At Hirome Market, the guests purchased items they liked and enjoyed eating seared bonito (katsuo no tataki). Next, at the paper museum, we did a paper-making experience, and the guests were very pleased with the paper they made. They also bought various items at the shop. At the sake brewery we visited last, we had a tasting after an explanation, and the guests seemed to enjoy it very much, saying repeatedly how much fun it was. Although fairly heavy rain continued and I was concerned, I believe the guests were satisfied throughout the day.

Hello. My name is Nori. I was born and raised in Kochi Prefecture. I worked as a local government employee until last year, but took early retirement and is currently devoting myself to my work as an interpreter. That being said, I don’t have much experience yet, so I’m still learning. I am studying English as a hobby. The reason is that I am very interested in different cultures. I also thought that working as an interpreter was a great way to meet people from different cultures. I’m also interested in traveling overseas, but first I wanted to communicate with people who are coming to Japan. I’m shy, but I’m diligent, and sometimes people say I’m funny. I like movies and dramas and watch them often. I also love delicious food and alcohol. We would love to meet you in person and introduce you to Japanese culture. I would also like to know your culture. By the way, do you know Kochi? Kochi is located in Shikoku, southern Japan. It’s not as far south as Okinawa, and it’s less famous than Tokyo or Osaka. It’s in a slightly inconvenient location. However, much of the beautiful nature remains, the people are kind, and the food is fresh and delicious. The most recommended is the bonito tataki. Cut the bonito into three pieces and roast the outer skin with straw. It goes very well with Japanese sake, so please try it. In addition, at Makino Botanical Garden, you can see beautiful flowers in each season, and the cherry blossom season is very beautiful. In addition, Chikurinji Temple is a temple with a long history, and its principal image is Monjyu Bosatsu. Monjyu Bosatsu is the Buddha of learning, so please visit it and receive wisdom. Be sure to visit Kochi Castle as well. Kochi Castle is the only castle which castle tower and main keep remain. There are some tricks that are unique to Kochi Castle, so I think you can enjoy the tour. In addition, there are many other wonderful scenery in Kochi Prefecture, although it is far from Kochi City. I want you to see the beauty of the Niyodo River. The clear blue color is called “Niyodo Blue,” and although the road to get there is narrow and far, it attracts many people. How about trying your hand at making salt from Kuroshio Town’s seawater? Salt, which is full of minerals, is good for the health and goes well with any food. Kochi Prefecture is long from east to west, with Cape Muroto in the east and Tosashimizu in the west, so each region has many attractions. And there’s a lot of delicious food too. Please come and visit Kochi.
