    What Is a Private Walking History Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Koishikawa Korakuen and Asakusa In the first email, the guest wrote "I hope you are well," which made me quite nervous. The guest was visiting from Europe. When we met, the person turned out to be very friendly, which was a relief. The guest was interested in history and wanted to learn more, so we talked continuously as we walked. I kept speaking about history in general, the relationship between the samurai and the emperor, the Tokugawa family, Edo Castle, and the relationships with the daimyo, and there were questions too, which was good practice for me. Partway through, the guest seemed tired, so I asked if everything was all right, and they said it was just the time lag and they were fine. I had woven in stories connected to Koishikawa Korakuen, so when we visited, the guest had an "ah, I see" reaction. I explained the design of the garden and more. The guest took many photographs of the beautiful garden. They found Mitsukuni's devotion to his elder brother and his dedication to Confucianism very interesting. We arrived at Asakusa after 3 p.m., and perhaps because of the fine weather, it was very crowded. The guest was surprised by this, but I shared many stories about the history of Asakusa, the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, the influence of Buddhism in Japan, and more, and the guest laughed a lot at my jokes. When I explained the meaning of the manji symbol, the guest said "so that's what it was," and when we finally parted, they told me it was "super good." Even if it was just a courtesy, it made me happy.

A Licensed Guide's Report The guests enjoyed delicious food at each sightseeing spot, took photos and checked whether they had captured the shots they wanted, and energetically browsed a variety of shops while enjoying shopping. I believe they will be able to put together a wonderful album after their trip. We parted ways in Shibuya. The meeting point was unclear at the time of booking, but I was relieved to learn that it was a Hotel located close to Shinjuku Station. This assignment came in after a previous booking had been cancelled two days prior, so there was not much time to communicate before the tour date, but I believe the guests were satisfied.

    I’m happy to show you around Japan. I used to be a traveler myself. And now I’ve got a lot of wonderful memories when I took trips abroad where people were very nice and kind to me.     Tokyo is the city I’m from. You can imagine Tokyo bristling with skyscrapers fully equipped with cutting edge conveniences. The capital’s charm is not only this kind of futuristic aspect. You might find the city mixed with old and new when you walk around this busy town.
    The other day, my guests and I were abruptly entertained with beautiful music played a traditional musical instrument called shamisen at one of Tokyo’s biggest train terminal stations. Our initial idea of finding a place to take a bite had taken away. We just stood there with lots of crowd, listening to the pleasing sound coming from the three-string instruments. After giving a big clap to the musicians for their glamorous performance, we left for a sushi shop where we enjoyed talking about the guitar lesson one of my young guests was taking. I’m looking forward to sharing such pleasant encounter with you here.
    One fun part of travel is trying some local food, isn’t it? Mouth-watering dishes are the must-try items not only for travelers but people living in this country. My guests with dietary restrictions have ventured fancy traditional confectionery I’ve been fond of. I usually waste no time trying when it comes to savory foods. When I asked if they liked the sweets at a precinct of the temple, they nodded at me with a big smile. Looking at such happy faces always makes me so glad. I’m waiting to see your happy smile.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The night before, the guests arrived at Narita Airport and found that their luggage had not been delivered, so the tour began with shopping for clothing. After purchasing clothes at a Uniqlo and changing, the sightseeing got underway. We were able to visit the places the guests had requested, but the schedule ran behind, so unfortunately they were not able to experience the lively atmosphere of the Tsukiji Outer Market. Despite these constraints, the guests seemed to thoroughly enjoy the sightseeing, and in particular they appeared to greatly enjoy Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, which they had especially requested. They seemed to have a wonderful day, and when it was time to part, everyone smiled and we said goodbye with a handshake. The guests had prepared very carefully for their trip, and as they were on a long journey, I bid them farewell hoping that their luggage would be waiting for them at the hotel front desk.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from North America. Some of the guests had visited Japan before on business but had never done any sightseeing, and this was the first sightseeing visit for the group. They had arrived the previous night, so today was effectively their first full day, with a stay of about two weeks planned. After Tokyo, they planned to travel to Nagano, Kanazawa, Osaka, and Kyoto, so along the way I explained the history of Japan and the highlights of each city. Since they would be visiting Kanazawa, associated with the Maeda family, and Gotokuji Temple, the family temple of the Ii clan, I also explained the Edo-period daimyo system (shinpan, fudai, and tozama) as we walked. The itinerary above had been agreed upon before their arrival. Although we had expected the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to be crowded on a mid-holiday day, the line turned out to be even longer than anticipated, so we decided to give it up. Instead, at Shinjuku, where we planned to part ways, I helped them purchase tickets for Nagano and guided them through Omoide Yokocho and Kabukicho. Sumida Park was a request from the guests, so I took them there, but I recommended that they return during cherry blossom season.

A Licensed Guide's Report on Day 2 The second day of a two-day private Tokyo tour arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) took place under occasional light rain, so I adjusted the schedule so that we could visit places difficult to see with an umbrella during the times the forecast predicted breaks of sunshine. First, although it was not originally planned, we visited Zojoji Temple and Tokyo Tower, where the guests took a great many photographs. After that, I guided them to Roppongi (Roppongi Hills, the National Art Center, and Tokyo Midtown Roppongi) as places where they could spend time indoors. The guests were very fond of fine dining and had researched and reserved restaurants featured in the Michelin Guide even before arriving in Japan. The previous evening they had enjoyed dinner at a small Japanese restaurant in Shibuya called "Kuhara," which had received a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide 2023 and 2024. Since the guests had a reservation at a French restaurant in Ginza for this evening's dinner, they wished to keep lunch light. At Sushi Zanmai in Tsukiji, they tried tekka-maki and negitoro-maki and seemed very satisfied. Also, when I introduced Japanese ochazuke at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, they listened with great interest to my explanation. The afternoon rain did not grow stronger, and we were able to stroll through Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, which had been one of their original requests. During our various conversations along the way, the guests shared that they had experience in figure skating, and that although they had no children, they kept and dearly loved three cats, along with lovely photographs of the garden at their home. It was an enjoyable time in which our senses of humor matched perfectly.

They planned to meet up with relatives in Osaka and travel around Japan together. After Tokyo, they intended to visit Mount Fuji (Hakone) and Osaka, then take the Shinkansen as far as Okayama and continue by bicycle into Shikoku. Regarding the long-distance travel on this trip, they had already booked their Shinkansen tickets online, but they were worried about the ticket issuance process. When I helped them with the issuance at the Midori-no-Madoguchi ticket counter, they were greatly relieved to have all the tickets in hand. Lunch at Suju Dining inside the Shin-Marunouchi Building was a hit, and they were delighted, saying, "It's delicious. Recommending this restaurant was absolutely the right call!" They were also very skilled with chopsticks, so I asked about it, and one of them had been comfortable using them ever since being taught by a friend who was an international student from China during their university days, while the other said they had built up skill through practice. The guests, who clearly had a great love of good food, also observed with keen interest when we added a stroll through the basement food hall of Takashimaya, which was along our tour route.

    What Can You Do on a Rainy-Day Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, and a few days earlier they had requested to change the date because of the rain. Since I had confidently promised that we could still enjoy the tour even in the rain, I paid careful attention to designing the itinerary. My priority was to choose places where umbrellas would be needed as little as possible, so we started by crossing the Rainbow Bridge on the Yurikamome line and headed to Toyosu Market. At Toyosu Market, when I explained that it is the cleanest market in the world with no outside contact, the guests were amazed, and they enjoyed both the market and the adjoining Senkyaku Banrai complex. After that, we walked a little along Chuo-dori in Ginza, and then went to Asakusa. In Asakusa, the guests enjoyed okonomiyaki and beer with some snacks in the covered shopping arcade. After taking photos and drawing omikuji fortunes at Senso-ji Temple as usual, we headed to Kappabashi. Unfortunately, I was unable to book a food-sample-making experience, but we browsed through many of the shops in the arcade, and we parted ways a little after 4:00. I believe the guests enjoyed the rainy-day special. I have also attached the receipt for the printing cost of the review cards I ordered the other day. Thank you very much.

    Title: What's a Private Food and Sightseeing Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour got off to a great start, as the guests were very satisfied with the first sushi. They finished their nigiri with octopus at the end. This was my first time bringing guests to Senkyaku Banrai, and with the attractions there, I thought it was a great option. We relaxed at the foot bath before heading to Tsukiji. They tried raw oysters, but said it was not what they expected and felt it was a bit of a miss. They liked Ginza Lion so much that they said they wanted to come back again with friends. The Yebisu beer and edamame were absolutely delicious. After that, since they wanted to see Godzilla, we walked over together, took photos, and then parted ways.

    Title: What Is a Private Nara Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nara Park, Todaiji, and Naramachi The guests wished to have local specialties for lunch, so I introduced kakinoha-zushi (persimmon leaf sushi), and they were eager to try it. Because I was concerned about the weather worsening, I had originally planned to visit the main sights of Nara Park and Todaiji first, then Kasuga Taisha, followed by a late lunch. However, the guests had not had breakfast and preferred an early lunch. To avoid the crowds, we decided to head to the restaurant around its 11:30 opening time. We arrived about ten minutes later than planned, and the restaurant was nearly full; we managed to get the very last seat without having to wait, which pleased the guests. They also said the food was very delicious and were very satisfied, telling me, "Thank you for bringing us to this restaurant. We could never have come here on our own." The guests purchased rice bowls and tea cups in Naramachi and enjoyed the traditional Japanese houses there. Just as we were about to head to Kasuga Taisha, it began to pour heavily. Thinking that if we were going to walk anyway, I would rather take the guests somewhere with more impact, I talked about Fushimi Inari Taisha, and we decided to head there. However, after boarding the JR line, the train stopped due to the heavy rain. We transferred to the Kintetsu line along the way, but since one of the guests began to feel chilled, we decided to return to the hotel. I wondered whether it would have been better to go to Kasuga Taisha rather than suggesting Fushimi Inari Taisha, but the guests reassured me instead, saying that neither the rain nor the stopped train was my fault. I paid the utmost attention to preventing anyone from catching a cold, offering my jacket and buying warm drinks from a vending machine. When we parted, one of the guests told me with a smile, "Today was a truly wonderful day," which was a relief. Afterward, the guests even sent me videos of my guiding and a message saying they had a great time.

    What Is a Rainy-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, the Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine On a rainy day, the guests were visiting Japan for the first time. We started early in the morning at Sensoji Temple and the Nakamise shopping street in Asakusa, which was calm and atmospheric before the crowds arrived, and it seemed they enjoyed it very much. After paying our respects, the shops gradually began to open and the area became livelier and somewhat crowded. I truly felt that visiting Sensoji Temple early in the morning is effective. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace we encountered some rain, but after strolling through the grounds we took a break at a rest area where I gave an explanation about the Imperial Family. Moving on to Meiji Shrine, I was able to naturally continue the topic related to the Imperial Family. Something I always feel is that I personally refer to these basic highlights — Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, and Meiji Shrine — by their initials as "AIM." Depending on the tour, the order changes to "IMA," "MIA," and so on. After Meiji Shrine, which was lively with the autumn grand festival, the guests seemed happy to enjoy some delicious ramen. Finally, after visiting the Shibuya Crossing, we parted ways.
