    タイトル: What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shibuya, Zojoji, and Azabudai Hills The guests were a family visiting from North America. Since the accommodation was a private lodging, I had some trouble finding the location during my advance scouting, but I managed to locate it and we met at the parking space on the first floor of the building. Private lodgings always give me a bit of a headache when it comes to choosing a meeting point. I had been told that some of the guests were picky about food, but during the tour they followed along without any complaints about being tired. When I guided them to the 6th floor of Shibuya PARCO, the Nintendo store was not crowded, but the checkout line at the Pokémon Center was extremely long and we had to wait about 30 minutes. Fortunately, the guests waited patiently and behaved very well in line. Since I did not know how long the shopping would take, I was glad I had kept the schedule flexible. After lunch, we went from Zojoji Temple past Tokyo Tower to Azabudai Hills, and parted ways in front of teamLab. One of the guests was afraid of heights, so instead of going up Tokyo Tower we did the VR boat race on the first floor and stopped by the souvenir shop on the second floor. We arrived at teamLab right on time and the guests seemed satisfied, though the tour did not feel very lively at times, which made me a little worried. They said they would be sightseeing around the city on their own from here, and I believe this tour helped them get used to transferring between trains. I hope they enjoy the rest of their trip in Japan.

    Meeting point: Hotel The guests were visitors from North America. They arrived in Tokyo after spending several days in Asia, and at this stage had not yet decided whether to continue on to Kyoto or other destinations after sightseeing in Tokyo. While touring the Imperial Palace, the guests asked about the construction methods of its walls, comparing them with the Great Wall of China, about which they had just gained some knowledge. According to their explanation, in the case of the Great Wall, glutinous rice was used as an adhesive to bind the bricks and stones together. I believed that Japanese castle walls differed from such Chinese techniques, but rather than convey inaccurate information, I asked the guests' permission and did a quick online check on the spot, then explained the characteristics of Japanese "ishigaki" stone walls built by stacking cut and natural stones. Also, when we visited the food floor at the Nihonbashi Takashimaya department store, the guests marked it on Google Maps, saying they absolutely wanted to come back and shop there. At the "Chanko Beya" restaurant in Asakusa, the chanko set meal had already sold out, but the guests ordered the sashimi set and the fried chicken set and were very satisfied, saying they were delicious.

    What Does a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report We began the morning at Meiji Shrine, where we were able to worship in a relatively quiet atmosphere. Luckily, much of the chrysanthemum flower exhibition was still on display, so we could enjoy it together with the bonsai. We passed from the North Torii gate through to Yoyogi and took the Oedo Line to the Tsukiji Outer Market. There we enjoyed wagyu beef and sashimi of bluefin tuna, and ordered tempura at the food court. At this point, some of the guests who had not been feeling well since the previous day left the tour and returned to the hotel. Since some of the guests were interested in cooking, I took them to a Japanese knife shop, where they received a detailed explanation. We then walked to Hamarikyu Gardens and enjoyed the Japanese garden. Finally, we strolled through Asakusa before parting ways.     What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like for Senior Travelers? A Licensed Guide's Report Covering Tsukiji, Tokyo Tower, and Asakusa [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour in Tokyo for a group of guests visiting from Europe. The guests had spent about three weeks traveling around India before flying to Japan. The day after this tour, they were scheduled to board a cruise ship and travel to Osaka, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore before returning home. The guests had arrived in Tokyo earlier in the week and had already spent two days on a separate tour, visiting Tokyo Skytree, Sensoji Temple, and Meiji Shrine. Since I had received this information during the prior arrangements, I had planned the itinerary to avoid overlap. The guests had a reservation at Tokyo Tower for 1:00, so I built the plan around that, including Tsukiji, Akihabara, Tokyo Tower, and the Outer Garden of the Imperial Palace (with lunch at the Shin-Marunouchi Building), and, if time allowed, extending the visit to Nezu Shrine. Beforehand, I had received a message saying they would appreciate a relaxed schedule with time set aside for a proper restaurant visit, so I had tried to keep the pace comfortable. When I met them at the hotel in the morning, they told me they had gone to the Imperial Palace earlier in the week but had not been able to enter. Unfortunately, entry was not possible today either, but I explained that I could give an explanation around the Tatsumi Yagura watchtower, and that even if we could enter the East Gardens, there were no buildings to see there. They understood and accepted this, so we kept the plan to have lunch at the Shin-Marunouchi Building. However, after walking from the hotel in Ginza to Tsukiji, and from Kamiyacho to Tokyo Tower, one of the guests had knee trouble, and the others also found long distances difficult, so they said they would like to make just one more stop. In particular, they wished to return to Sensoji Temple, since their earlier visit had lacked sufficient explanation and they had not had a chance to shop. We had lunch at a restaurant on Kannon-dori. Afterward, at their request, they purchased a Japanese kitchen knife (a rather high-priced one) at a knife shop on Shin-Nakamise Street. After I guided them around the grounds of Sensoji Temple, they said they would like to shop a little more and then make their own way back by taxi, so although some time remained, we ended the tour there. The tour was scheduled for eight hours, and although we were not able to visit many places, I believe the guests were reasonably satisfied.

    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Can You Do a Private Tokyo Day Tour with a Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. I had heard that cashless payments are widespread in North America, and indeed they had not brought any cash at all, apparently intending to pay for everything by card. Looking more closely, they were concerned about the poor exchange rate and tried to pay by card whenever possible. Rather than exchanging money all at once, they converted about 10,000 yen here and 10,000 yen there. Wherever they exchanged, the rate was around US$1 = JPY135. Because of this, the tour ran over by more than 30 minutes. The weather was good and warm today, so I believe the guests were able to enjoy the spots we visited.

    What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan and were on the seventh day of their trip. They had already visited castles such as Nagoya Castle, and since they enjoyed castles, I included Hiroshima Castle in the tour. They viewed the museum and the castle carefully, and they listened with great interest to the explanations at Miyajima. For lunch they enjoyed okonomiyaki, and since one of the guests liked oysters, they also had oysters, and they thoroughly enjoyed the meal. As the guests wanted to buy a Japanese knife as a gift, after the tour I took them to Kikusada, a traditional cutlery shop. There they received explanations about everything from the difference between Japanese-style and Western-style knives to where to store the blades, how to care for them, and how to sharpen them. They listened intently while taking videos, and I myself learned a great deal as well.

    Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
    Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The day before the tour, I received an email that the meeting point had been changed (from one hotel to another hotel). It was the guests' first visit to Japan, but I was told that even in Tokyo they preferred visiting places not usually frequented by tourists. The sightseeing spots had not been decided in advance, but in Kanazawa we started the tour with the standard course. One of the guests had a slight cold, but the group enjoyed the walking tour. The guests found it very puzzling that there was no trash on the streets despite the absence of trash bins, so I explained how trash bins had gradually disappeared following the sarin incident, as well as Japanese behavioral norms (a strong awareness of how one is perceived by others). Finally, the tour ended at Omicho Market.

    What Is a Private One-Day Kanazawa Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided the guests who came from North America. We strolled through the temple district of Teramachi, and they tried their hand at calligraphy using a bamboo brush. There, they bought a mouse pad with an ukiyo-e style design. At a mizuhiki (decorative paper cord) workshop, they experienced making a mizuhiki necklace. It seemed quite difficult to make, but they crafted it beautifully. They also bought several mizuhiki souvenirs. We strolled through the Nishi Chaya district and enjoyed the old townscape. For lunch, they savored dishes such as seafood rice bowls and tempura set meals at Omicho Market. At Kenrokuen Garden, they seemed to particularly enjoy the autumn foliage scenery. They were also interested in the traditional architectural style of Kanazawa Castle. They seemed to like the elegant guest rooms of Shima in the Higashi Chaya district as well. The guests this time were interested in traditional crafts, and it seemed the mizuhiki experience was especially enjoyable for them.

    I majored in civil engineering at a college and am interested in historical infrastructures. I have also guided foreign people around Ishikawa Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, and Fukui Prefecture as an international activity of an English circle. I was a volunteer interpreter at the training camp for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021.

    Hokuriku region has a lot of sightseeing spots as follows, beautiful landscapes like Kenrokuen Garden and Tateyama, tasty food like traditional Kaga dishes and fresh seafood from Toyama Bay, traditional crafts like Kaga Yuzen dyeing, Takaoka copperware, and Inami woodcarving. I introduce these spots and historical infra tourism such as Kurobe dam and industrial tourism.

    I also work as a translator. I translated the Japanese firefly squid tourism pamphlet into English in 2020.

    Title: What Is a Private Anime Pilgrimage Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests included a group visiting anime-related sites and anime shops in Tokyo, and they were very satisfied with the experience. However, the group had apparently not fully discussed the day's plans in advance, and over lunch they decided that the originally planned anime pilgrimage in Shinjuku was no longer necessary, so we changed the itinerary to Meiji Shrine and Asakusa instead. The group seemed to appreciate the thorough research I had done on the anime pilgrimage sites, and they kindly gave me a tip of 13,000 yen. I helped make a dinner restaurant reservation and, for their visit the following day, I introduced Hamarikyu Gardens and sent them some photos, after which they contacted me to say they had visited Hamarikyu that day.
