What Is a Private Nara Taxi Tour of Todai-ji Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Just before this tour, I discovered that places routinely visited by Nara taxis, such as Nigatsu-do at Todai-ji, cannot be reached by taxis from other areas like Kyoto, so I changed the itinerary at the last minute. It made me wish there were a dedicated Nara car tour. Even so, thanks in part to a very good driver, the guests were extremely pleased. I had received advance information that one of the guests had a leg injury and could not walk very much, but after the tour began I learned that this person had difficulty seeing the ground and found it hard to go down stairs alone. The guest tried very hard, so we were able to cover more than the planned course, but the tour ended one hour early because the guest was tired. It was a great discovery on this tour to learn about how families are formed today, and I would have liked to hear more details.

Hello! Thank you for choosing Nara! I bet you’ll love Nara. I specialize in Nara because Nara is the unique place where in one day you can cover the history and religions of Japan from the ancient times to the post war era while enjoying rambling in the UNESCO World Heritage park, having communication with lovely deer, surrounded with the beautiful nature.
I grew up in Nara, went university in Kyoto, enjoyed teaching at high schools and a university in Osaka. The three former capitals of Japan are home to me.
After retiring from teaching I began guiding so that I can meet various people from various corners of the world with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Each time I guide, I find it hugely rewarding because I learn a lot from my guests sharing the history, culture and all that I know about Nara, Kyoto and Osaka.
I used to be a marathon runner, mountain climber and skier though I am not much of them anymore.
What I especially recommend is to stay in Nara a couple of days and enjoy communicating with friendly deer while visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Nara in early morning, temples and shrines at night are well worth experiencing.

Tips for a Private Walking Tour in Fukuoka: A Licensed Guide's Report The guests and I walked a great deal together, covering nearly 10 kilometers. One of the guests had lived in Japan for close to ten years and was very familiar with the country. Since the next day was a free day and they would be staying in Yufuin the day after, they asked me for lots of information. The guests are very fond of Japan and interested in Japanese culture. They seemed to especially enjoy Nanzoin Temple and the great Buddha at Tochoji Temple. For lunch, everyone bought what they liked at a department store food hall and ate on the rooftop of Hakata Station. At the end, I recommended some food stalls, coffee shops, and a vegetarian shop, and we parted ways in Tenjin.

What Is a Private Ueno and Yanaka Walking Tour Like in Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Since the tour included a sumo show starting at 13:00, I made sure to keep to the schedule carefully. As they had requested less touristy spots, I took them to Ueno and Yanaka, and they were very pleased with the quiet atmosphere and the smaller crowds. At Nezu Shrine, they showed great interest in the ema votive plaques, made an offering, and also purchased omamori charms. They listened attentively to stories about history, and it was a very pleasant group to guide. I truly enjoyed showing them around.

What Is a Private Tokyo Family Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Harajuku, and Shibuya The guests were a family visiting from North America. They were very friendly, and it was a pleasure to guide them. At Tsukiji, they enjoyed a tasting comparison of three kinds of tuna, savored wagyu beef at a long-established butcher shop, and had a great time purchasing tea and beans. We strolled a little along Omotesando before heading to Takeshita Street. There they enjoyed an animal cafe and shops with bold, unique fashion, and had crepes, a specialty of Takeshita Street. At Meiji Shrine, they were very fond of the quiet atmosphere of the surrounding forest. In Shibuya, I introduced several recommended shops and buildings, and after they enjoyed Shibuya Crossing, I guided them to the 6th floor of Parco. Everyone in the group was absolutely delighted.

Title: What Is a Private Car Tour of Kyoto's Top Sights Like for a Family? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. After spending four days each in Tokyo and Kanazawa, they arrived in Kyoto the previous day. Some of the guests had visited Japan more than ten years ago and had been to Kyoto before, but that previous trip was a short and hurried stay and they did not remember where they had gone. This time they wanted to see the major spots, except for Arashiyama, which was planned for the following day, and that is how the above itinerary came about. The weather was wonderful and the crowds were not too heavy, and everyone enjoyed the tour. Although the group included young children, a chartered car was arranged, so we were able to get around efficiently and without any trouble. The children were relatively well-behaved and there were no particular problems. I gave some thought to where we would have lunch, but the food court I suggested (Kitaoji Aeon Mall) allowed everyone to easily eat what they liked, and it was well received, which was a relief.

Title: What Is a Private Tsukiji and Toyosu Fish Market Food Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The group originally applied for a lottery-based market tour, and after being selected, they requested to add one more person. Because no changes were allowed after selection, and partly due to a misunderstanding on the guests' side, there were many email exchanges. In the end, the original members joined the market-organized tour while I guided the additional guest, and afterward we all met up again and went to a sushi restaurant. Everyone was very satisfied, saying "the sushi is really delicious." Since I ate almost nothing myself, the bill came to 32,000 yen for the group, which works out to about 6,000 yen per person — they ate the largest amount of any guests I have had so far. After that, they shopped for cooking tools at the intermediate wholesalers' building and bought a katsuobushi (dried bonito) shaver. We then moved to Tsukiji, where at the Tsukiji Uogashi they bought and ate tuna nakaochi, and since they wanted coffee, we went to the 3rd floor for coffee, where they realized they needed to get to teamLab by 9:00. I sent instructions in Japanese to the taxi driver via a messaging app, and that concluded the tour. They also asked small questions such as wanting to visit the largest MUJI store and a LEGO store, which I helped with, and they were very grateful.

Can You Do a Private Full-Day Kyoto Tour Starting Early Morning? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. Although we started at the early hour of 7:00, we were able to meet almost on time and begin the tour. The guests walked quickly, which helped keep us on schedule. By around 7:30, Fushimi Inari Shrine was already quite crowded. For lunch we went to a reasonably priced soba restaurant near Kodaiji Temple, but it was full and we had to wait about 20 minutes. As it was the autumn foliage season, there were not only visitors from overseas but also Japanese travelers and school excursion students. The guests waited patiently. In Gion, the inconsiderate behavior of some overseas tourists was again noticeable. Today I saw a group in rental kimono dancing and filming videos in front of a private residence. It was so inappropriate that I asked a security guard to give them a warning. Photos were taken at Kinkakuji Temple.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

Title: What Is a 6-Hour Private Kyoto Tour by Vehicle Like? A Government-Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting Kyoto, and one member of the group used a wheelchair, so I guided them using the wheelchair-accessible routes throughout the tour. For lunch, since one of the guests wanted to eat ramen, we had lunch at a ramen restaurant recommended by the driver that had a parking lot where the taxi could park. Depending on the taxi driver, an extension fee may be charged if the tour exceeds six hours, so I explained the possibility of an extension fee to the guests in advance. However, the driver on this tour said that no extension fee would be required as long as we went over by no more than 30 minutes, so although we ran about 10 minutes over, the tour ended with no extension fee. As they were all part of one group, they moved at a pace that accommodated the person using the wheelchair. All of the requested destinations were popular spots with many tourists, and the guests were surprised by the large crowds. Below, the guide fee is listed as 22,000 JPY, but above it is listed as 20,000 JPY. Which is the correct information? What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like for Guests Avoiding Crowds? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. In their detailed correspondence beforehand, they requested a tour that avoided Tsukiji, crowds, typical tourist spots, and Asakusa, noted a shellfish allergy, and expressed a wish to experience a tea ceremony. At the hotel meeting point, I reconfirmed the itinerary and explained that, since it was a Sunday, everywhere would be crowded, so we first visited Shinjuku Gyoen. The autumn foliage was only about 30% turned, and it was relatively quiet and easy to walk through. Since we had time to spare, I also showed them Shinjuku Golden Gai and Hanazono Shrine, which were not originally planned. In Shibuya, I guided them to a souffle pancake shop that one of the guests had wanted to visit, but there was already a line of visitors. We waited for a while but gave up, and I took them instead to a quiet Japanese restaurant in Hikarie for lunch (although it was an impromptu suggestion, the guests were satisfied). As we still had time before the tea ceremony experience, I took the opportunity to show them the ginkgo tree-lined avenue at Meiji Jingu Gaien. Finally, I guided them to a tea ceremony experience behind Asakusa (along the way, I also explained how to get to Kappabashi Kitchen Town, which they planned to visit the next day). After the experience, I mentioned the special evening viewing of Rikugien Garden, and since they showed interest, I explained that the gates close around 5 to 6 p.m. and described the route to Komagome Station. The guests said they would head to Rikugien after a short rest, so I guided them to a quiet cafe in Asakusa and we parted ways. The next day, I received a message via a messaging app saying they had enjoyed the evening view at Rikugien, which was a relief. I also introduced some spots in Tokyo and in Kyoto, which they planned to visit from Tuesday, that were likely to be less crowded.

I enjoy showing guests both famous sights and places that many tourists miss. My tours are based on your interests and can include not only famous sightseeing spots, but also local neighborhoods, culture, history, and everyday life in Japan. I also help guests enjoy Japanese cultural activities and make communication easier. If you’d like vegan or gluten-free meals, let me help you find suitable restaurants in Tokyo. If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to let me know in advance. I look forward to showing you around Tokyo!

Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Naoshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. They had a cheerful and friendly disposition, and it was a pleasure to guide them. They were traveling around Japan, visiting Tokyo, Hakone, Hiroshima, Takamatsu, Naoshima, Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo again. In Kyoto, they were looking forward to attending a wedding. They mentioned that their home is located near a golf course and that golf balls sometimes fly onto their property. One of the guests is a fan of a well-known clothing brand, and it was interesting to see how widely that brand has spread across North America. Since they wanted to have Korean barbecue that evening, they asked me for a good place in Takamatsu, so I asked a friend who works at the tourist information office at Takamatsu Station and recommended a spot to them. I believe they were able to enjoy a full day on Naoshima.

Hello. My name is Hisao Kaji. I was born in 1945. I was raised in Takamatsu City from 3 years old. So, I have been living in Takamatsu for around 75 years. I believe I know Takamatsu City and the Kagawa prefecture area very well. If you come to Takamatsu, Kagawa I think you can enjoy your tour with me. I started a Government Licensed Guide in 2019. So, I have been a licensed guide for about 5 years. My favorite destinations are Naoshima, Teshima, Ritsurin Garden, the top of Mt. Yashima and so on. I always show you an itinerary about one month before your tour date, and I will accept any questions, other favorite places you want to visit. Communicating with you, I would like to accommodate your request for your tour. I always listen to NPR on the internet to know how the world is moving and improve my English. I like conversation based upon it with my life. I stayed in the USA for 8 months for a Power Systems Engineering Course conducted by General Electric in New York State when I was 28 years old. I sometimes talk about my memory of those days with the guests. I am very happy to guide tourists because I can see the guests become happy and enjoy themselves when I am guiding better. Nothing is more wonderful than that. I welcome your visit to Takamatsu City and Kagawa Prefecture. I believe you will have a pleasant time through my guide.
