What Does a Private Tokyo Walking Tour of Kiyosumi Garden, Asakusa, and Meiji Shrine Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. We began by strolling through the Japanese garden at Kiyosumi Garden. They seemed to enjoy the varied garden walk, including crossing the stepping stones. Traveling by subway to Asakusa, we first stopped at the culture and tourism center, where I explained the origins of Senso-ji Temple and the surrounding buildings, after which we had lunch. Unlike in their home region, purchasing meal tickets in advance from a vending machine was a new experience, and they seemed a little puzzled at first. Afterward, as we proceeded through Kaminarimon Gate and Nakamise, they enjoyed the walk, drawing omikuji fortunes, and visited Senso-ji Temple to pray. While traveling by subway to Meiji Shrine, I explained Japanese culture and various customs, which they were delighted to hear. At Meiji Shrine, after talking about Emperor Meiji and the origins of the shrine, we proceeded with explanations along the way and offered prayers at the main hall. Finally, as we walked along Takeshita Street, they took interest in various shops and purchased some souvenirs. The tour concluded on Takeshita Street.

What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya and Shinjuku The guests were visitors from Oceania. This was a group that had been passed to me at the last minute because the previous guide had been injured, so I did not have much detail and felt a little anxious, but we met safely at 9:00. One of the guests took a while to come down, and the other said, "Sorry, they're probably running late with a shower and getting ready," and finally appeared in the lobby after about 30 minutes. In the meantime we were able to chat about various things, which was nice, and since one of the guests seemed slightly affected by the heat from the morning (finishing a whole bottle of water in the lobby), it turned out fine in the end. The guests had joined a tour the day before as well, and when I checked which places they had visited, they had no memory of anywhere except the Imperial Palace. Since they mentioned they had walked a lot and gotten tired at the Imperial Palace, I checked on their condition throughout the day. Today we decided to visit Harajuku and Shibuya, which were noted in the handover from the previous guide, but the guests kept saying, "We don't really know, so just take us." They did, however, have two requests in the morning: to check the meeting point for a food tour at 18:00 the next day, and to visit the Starbucks at the Shibuya crossing. At Meiji Shrine, we enjoyed the solemn atmosphere while I talked about various aspects of Japanese culture and history. The differences in how numbers are viewed in Japan, Thailand, China, and Oceania were especially interesting. Apparently the lucky number in Thailand is 9. Also, at the sake barrels, one of the guests asked whether there was "Ozeki sake" (related to a name meaningful to them), and I looked but unfortunately could not find it. As always, everyone was captivated by the fan-shaped camphor tree in front of the main hall. They did not show much interest in Takeshita Street and passed through quickly, and the carp and wind chimes at the pond of Togo Shrine were reasonably well received. Neither of the guests particularly enjoyed walking across the crossing in Shibuya, but they were absorbed in filming videos from both sides — from the second floor of the requested Starbucks and additionally from the second floor of Mark City. Finally, in Shinjuku, after confirming the meeting point for the next day's food tour (AOKI Nishi-Shinjuku), we had some time, so I suggested two options, Kabukicho or the Metropolitan Government Building. The guests said, "We don't really know, so either is fine," so we strolled around Kabukicho. They seemed to find the 3D cat amusing. We had originally planned to part ways here, but the guests asked, "We don't know how to get to Akabanebashi. Which way do we go after the ticket gate to reach the Hotel, right or left?" and requested, "We'd like you to take us if possible," so I accompanied them to Akabanebashi and we parted there. Today was hot and, to be honest, quite a tough day, but when I checked the temperature it was still 32 degrees. It may be because my body has not yet adjusted, so I want to take enough care on upcoming guiding assignments. It was an enjoyable day, and we were also able to exchange information about Japan and Thailand.

Title: What Can You See on a One-Day Private Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America. They seem to travel together often, and this time they were going to board a cruise ship from Yokohama. Since they only had one day in Tokyo, I showed them the highlights: Meiji Shrine, Shibuya Crossing, Tsukiji Market, and Asakusa. The guests showed interest in everything and asked many questions. At Tsukiji, after enjoying wagyu beef and beer, we went to a sushi restaurant. Tuna was a favorite, and they ordered more than ten plates along with two more beers, ending very satisfied. Since they wanted to see the view from a high place, I introduced the observation deck at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building near the Hotel.

What Is a Private Nara Day Tour Like for a Family Visiting Japan? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America, on their first trip to Japan and Asia. They had traveled from other cities before reaching Tokyo, Kyoto, and then Nara, and planned to spend the following day in Kyoto before returning to Tokyo and heading home. The rainy season had just ended in the Kansai region the day before, and today was extremely hot and humid. Due to the heat and the fatigue of long travel, one of the younger guests became fussy, so we suddenly canceled the planned walk through Naramachi and started the tour with an early lunch instead. One of the guests loved talking about history and religious culture, so we had a lot of conversation today. One of the younger members of the group had been complaining of tiredness and fussing just moments earlier, but upon seeing the deer swarming for shika-senbei crackers, became incredibly excited and ran around playing with the deer for an hour in the intense heat — or rather, strolled around leading a whole troop of deer. I had never seen someone play with the deer so skillfully. Their face turned bright red and they looked as if they might get heatstroke, so I poured water over their head. Since some of the group waited near Nandaimon out of concern, the others went ahead to see the Great Buddha. We had originally planned to visit a nearby Japanese garden as well, but because of the extreme heat everyone was exhausted, and although a little time still remained, we parted ways after seeing the group off in a taxi. I'm sure they made a wonderful memory running around and playing with the deer in Japan.

What's a Private Nagasaki Peace and History Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because immigration was delayed, we started 30 minutes later than planned, but I was glad we were able to take the guests to all the places originally scheduled. At the Atomic Bomb Museum, it was memorable to see how attentively one of the guests explored the exhibits. For that reason, we spent about 70 minutes at the Atomic Bomb Museum. At the Shiroyama Elementary School Peace Memorial Hall, the guests looked intently at each and every exhibit. They seemed very shocked to learn that 1,400 of the 1,500 students had died, but they also felt the children's pure wishes for peace. After lunch in Chinatown, the guests said they wanted to see the one-legged torii gate at Sanno Shrine, so I told them we would just take photos there. At the Nabekanmuriyama Observation Deck, the guests enjoyed the scenery of Nagasaki.

What's a Private Cruise Ship Excursion in Nagasaki Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I met the guests without any trouble at the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal a little after 10:00, and we departed by private vehicle. First, we went to the scenic Nabekanmuriyama, where the guests enjoyed a panoramic view of the city of Nagasaki. Next, we visited Glover Garden (entering from the upper Gate 2, which is close to Nabekanmuriyama). The guests took their time looking around, and since some of the group moved about freely and independently, it took a while to confirm everyone's whereabouts before heading to the next location, so we spent quite some time here. We then went to Oura Church, located a short distance from the exit of Glover Garden. Before entering, I explained the episode of the "Discovery of the Hidden Christians" from a spot where the building was visible, and the guests viewed only the interior of the church on the first floor. After that, we went to a restaurant within a hotel located within walking distance. A lunch buffet had been planned, but due to dietary restrictions the guests were unable to eat most of the items, and some of the guests wished to have sushi, so after consulting with the driver, we decided on short notice to go to a chain sushi restaurant. It was a place called Wakatakemaru, which has several branches in the city of Nagasaki, and it was surprisingly delicious, so the guests were very satisfied. After lunch, we visited the Atomic Bomb Museum, and after touring it, we walked around the hypocenter and Peace Park. After finishing the atomic bomb-related facilities, we went to Dejima, where I guided them through the miniature Dejima, the archaeological museum, and the Kapitan's Quarters. Next, the guests wanted to visit a castella shop and a souvenir shop, so I took them to the Bunmeido main store near Dejima, and finally to the Omagari Cat Teahouse near the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal. The private vehicle service ended at the timing of our arrival here. After finishing shopping at the Omagari Cat Teahouse, I guided them on foot (less than 10 minutes) to the Matsugae International Cruise Terminal, where the tour ended. Although we ran a little behind schedule, the tour was extended by an hour and a half, so we were able to visit all the places originally planned, and since the guests also enjoyed a delicious lunch, I believe they were satisfied.

What Is a Full-Day Private Walking Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was fair, and since the guests had a Suica card, the tour proceeded smoothly. The guests were very fond of taking photos and videos, which slowed the pace of the tour a little. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, it took quite some time, but they enjoyed exploring the grounds. As they wanted to collect goshuin (temple and shrine stamps), I guided them to purchase a goshuin book at Nakamise, and they received one at Sensoji Temple, which also took a considerable amount of time. At Meiji Shrine as well, some time was spent on photos and goshuin. The plan had been to end the tour at Shibuya after Takeshita Street, but as there was not enough time, we discussed it and concluded the tour at the entrance of Takeshita Street. A tip was received.

The weather was fine and pleasantly warm, making it a great day for guiding. The guests had Mobile Suica, which made the tour proceed smoothly. At Asakusa, they enjoyed drawing omikuji fortunes and buying protective charms. At Ueno Park, unfortunately the five-story pagoda was under construction and could not be approached. Ueno Toshogu Shrine was well received. At the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, perhaps a little fatigue set in, so the guests bought ice cream at the rest house and relaxed for a while, taking their time. We talked about the Imperial family. At Meiji Shrine, they were especially interested in the barrels of French wine and took many photos. Since there was a little time to spare, we walked along Takeshita Street, but as they were interested in capsule toys and crepes, I gently steered them toward Shibuya. The tour concluded in front of the escalator inside the Parco building. A tip was received.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter of Japan and an expert in Japanese history and culture, and also in nursing and health. I usually work as a Public Health Nurse (PHN) at a Public Health Center in Tokyo, and I hold a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Additionally, I have a Ph.D. in medical science.
Born in 1957 and raised in Tokyo, I have worked for 33 years mainly in the research and development area for some pharmaceutical companies. Then, I changed my career to nursing and entered a university to obtain a PHN and RN license. I took the Licensed Guide for preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and volunteered in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2021.

What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and Yanaka The guests were visiting Japan for the first time. It was a hot day just after the end of the rainy season, but the guests were in good spirits and enjoyed sightseeing as planned at the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Asakusa, and the Yanaka area. In Asakusa, they took a leisurely lunch while combining it with some shopping and a rest. Originally we had planned to also stop by a shrine, but we skipped it due to the tight schedule and the heat. As they requested to be accompanied all the way to their hotel, we parted ways there.

What Is a Private Day Tour of Sakurajima and Kagoshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Kagoshima. ◉ Sakurajima Visitor Center They watched a film about the formation and history of Sakurajima, and surprisingly, they became very interested in the fact that the water reaches a depth of 200 meters. Afterward, they enjoyed the foot bath along the adjacent "Lava Nagisa Promenade." ◉ Yunohira Observatory They were surprised by the smell of sulfur. ◉ Arimura Observatory Since it was hot, we walked briskly along the lava path and moved on to the ferry terminal. ◉ Lunch They had black pork tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was of course delicious, but they were also impressed by the unfamiliar flavors, such as the shredded cabbage, the shiso dressing, and the tonkatsu sauce. At this point, we were well ahead of schedule, so we visited Terukuni Shrine, the statue of Saigo, and the Goromon Gate. However, since the guests were tired, they stayed in the car and I guided them from the window only. ◉ Kagoshima Aquarium We had originally planned to visit "Sengan-en," but the previous day the guests suggested visiting the aquarium instead, so we went there. One of the guests had wanted to see the whale shark. As we were more than an hour ahead of schedule, I offered to guide them to other places as well, but they asked to head straight to the port.
