Title: What Is a Private Date Masamune History Tour of Sendai and Matsushima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was someone with a strong ability to read and write Japanese. In advance, the guest had expressed an interest in Date Masamune and the tea culture of the Sengoku period, so I suggested places connected to Masamune along with the Date Masamune Historical Museum, where one can learn about his life, and the guest was very much looking forward to it. I prepared thoroughly, reviewing more history than usual, and went to meet them. Since there are also many hidden points of interest within Sendai Station, our meeting place, I explained them until it was time for our train. At Matsushima, the guest looked closely at each spot, so I allowed more time at each location than usual, and although we went well over the planned time at Zuiganji Temple, the guest was delighted, so I considered it a success. Regarding lunch, there were no particular restrictions other than coffee, so the guest enjoyed oyster ramen at the Matsushima Fish Market next to the Date Masamune Historical Museum. The museum displays exhibits about Masamune's life, and the guest gazed at them with sparkling eyes. As long as one is not uncomfortable with wax figures, this is a place I would recommend to history lovers. Since we spent quite a lot of time here as well, I said, "If you don't mind, shall we pick up the pace a little?" The guest seemed to realize we had gone over time, but when I said, "I'll see you back to Sendai Station, so no need to worry," the guest replied, "It's fine. Since it's gotten late, we can part ways at Matsushima." So we parted on the return Senseki Line train. Before the guest headed home, as a place they could visit within Sendai City, I recommended Mutsu Kokubunji Temple, which is accessible by subway.

What's a Private Snowy-Day Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Like? A Licensed Guide's Report There was snowfall and it was snowing, so the train was slightly delayed, but we arrived safely at Miyajima. As the snow kept falling, the morning was not so enjoyable, but after eating okonomiyaki the guests cheered up a little, and around the time I bought them fried momiji manju, patches of blue sky began to appear and I could see smiles. On that day we were fortunate enough to be able to walk out to the Great Torii Gate, which delighted the guests very much. In the afternoon we visited the Peace Memorial Park, and seeing firsthand the tragedy of the atomic bombing, the guests felt a deep sense of sorrow and said they wanted to do what they could regarding war and non-nuclear issues after returning home, adding that it had been a very meaningful tour.

Title: What Is a Private Japanese-Language Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were young travelers from Japan who work while moving around the world. Based on the guests' preference expressed when we met on the day, the tour was conducted in Japanese. Since the guests were not very familiar with Tokyo, I guided them to the main sightseeing spots of the city. I added fun, trivia-style extras to make the experience enjoyable, such as a quiz about the number of black pine trees in the plaza in front of the Imperial Palace, the Palace Hotel where a U.S. president once stayed, and the experience of a friend of mine who stayed at the Tokyo Station Hotel in a room overlooking the station concourse. One of the guests was interested in the work of a "licensed guide-interpreter," and while we walked and sightseed, asked questions about the profession of the National Guide-Interpreter and how the work is actually done, so I shared my own experience. I had set Asakusa as the final destination, but the guests were keeping in touch with a friend via smartphone, and just as I was guiding them around Shibuya, it turned out that the friend had also come to Shibuya. As a result, instead of going to Asakusa, the guests decided to meet up with their friend in Shibuya, and we parted ways a little earlier than planned.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji from Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a solo traveler from North America. They were staying in Tokyo and came to Lake Kawaguchi on the 07:30 Fuji Excursion (JR limited express) in the morning, and were clearly an experienced traveler. Through our email exchanges beforehand, it was clear that they had researched the Fujikawaguchiko area quite thoroughly, and since they understood my suggestions well, the tour proceeded smoothly on the day. For lunch, I guided them to "Kosaku," which I consider to serve the best hoto in this area, and they were very pleased. As I had heard that it was their birthday that day, before we parted I arranged in advance with the staff at a cafe in front of the station, "Tourist Base Kawaguchiko," to prepare a cake, and I also arranged candles and party poppers and had the staff sing, so we could celebrate their birthday. I gave them a Mount Fuji-shaped glass that I had purchased in advance as a gift, and they were very pleased. As they also wrote in their review comment, it seems to have become a memorable birthday. [Note added 2/26] Regarding the receipt for the Fuji Five Lakes sightseeing bus, since the ticket window at the station was crowded, I purchased it with cash on board the bus. Credit cards were not accepted, and the driver did not have receipts, so on-the-spot issuance was not possible. The local buses around Fujikawaguchiko (Fujikyu bus) do not set fares per individual segment, and there is no way to ride the bus other than buying this 1-DAY PASS. Therefore, I would appreciate your understanding that attaching and submitting a receipt is not possible. (For reference, on the Lake Kawaguchi tour last November, I similarly submitted my report without a receipt, and it was approved.)

Can You Do a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Visiting the Imperial Palace East Gardens and Asakusa? A Licensed Guide's Report This was a private tour for guests visiting from North America. They had visited Japan once before, several years ago, and were now on a longer trip during which they had booked several Michelin-starred restaurants and planned to enjoy skiing in the powder snow of Hokkaido. We began by walking from the Hotel to the Imperial Palace East Gardens, where the deep pink kanhizakura cherry blossoms were at their best and drawing a crowd. For lunch, we went to a tonkatsu restaurant in Asakusa, where the guests enjoyed a hire-katsu (fillet cutlet) set and savored the delicious pork. Finally, I took them to the Nihonbashi main store of a major department store, where we parted ways.

    • 14:45 Shibuya (station building 2nd floor, Hachiko, Crossing)
    • 15:50 Disband at Akihabara Owl Cafe

What Can You See on a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The tour proceeded at a relatively relaxed pace to match the guests. The guests were delightful, and I enthusiastically guided them through various shops along Takeshita Street, which I believe they enjoyed. I had hoped to end the tour by getting off at Sakuradamon to show them the Imperial Palace, but since they had a 4:00 reservation at an owl cafe in Akihabara, I unfortunately had to skip it. Even so, in addition to Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji Shrine, and the Shibuya Crossing, the guests also seemed to enjoy Kura Sushi and a pet shop in Kabukicho, so I believe it turned out to be a reasonably fulfilling tour.

What Is a Private Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Tsukiji, and Asakusa The guests were visitors from North America who were visiting Japan for the first time. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to travel to Kyoto and Mount Fuji. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo Shogunate. At Tsukiji Market, they showed interest in the many shops and the lively atmosphere created by the crowds of visitors. In Asakusa, they were intrigued by the many shops along Nakamise Street and listened attentively to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines. At the Tokyo National Museum, they enjoyed viewing the exhibits related to Japanese history and culture. As I responded to all of the guests' requests, I believe they were satisfied with the tour.

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Tour When It's Too Windy for Odaiba? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan from North America, and they were very pleasant to guide. Due to strong winds today, we changed our planned visit to Odaiba and instead toured the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, Yanaka, and Asakusa in that order. The pace was a little slower, but we were able to keep almost to the planned schedule. We met the driver at the B1 pickup area, and the driver was also very kind and happily accommodated our small requests. At the Imperial Palace, the plum blossoms seemed to leave a strong impression. Lunch was a bit late, but the guests were delighted with the delicious tempura at Sandaya. Because a spot with tatami seating was preferred, we chose this restaurant, which I do not usually use, and I was relieved that the guests were satisfied. It turned into a warm, homey tour.

Hello! I am Kyoko who has been working as a guide since 2017. I was born in Kyoto. So, my name comes from Kyoto which is Japan’s beautiful ancient capital . And “ko” literally means child in Japanese. Thus, my name Kyoko means Kyoto’s child, Kyoko. But some guests call me Kyoto. It’s okay, not a big problem.
But to say the truth, I feel like this, ” Am I like an ancient person? No way~!!…” I am mainly guiding in and around Tokyo. Tokyo has two faces of well-advanced and old-fashioned. So, you can enjoy both high-tech technology and historical culture plus delicious food and drinks, too. You will surely be inspired in this city with me. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you in the near future. Thank you in advance!

Title: Can You Do a Private Snowy-Day Tour of Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji and More The guests were visitors from North America. In response to their request, I arranged a fairly packed itinerary, but we were able to complete it a little earlier than expected. It snowed from the morning, and by the time we reached our first stop, Kinkaku-ji, a considerable amount had accumulated, and the guests were delighted to see the golden pavilion covered in snow. The snowfall continued throughout the morning, but it stopped around the time we finished lunch, and since there were occasional glimpses of sunshine in the afternoon, we were able to complete the entire itinerary. Although one of the guests seemed a little tired, the group was very pleased to have been able to visit so many places.

Thanks for joining our tour. I’m Hiro Nakagawa, assigned to be your guide for this tour. I was eligible as a National Licensed Tour Guide in 2017. I have guided many tourists from overseas since then. Japan is a beautiful country with full of various attractions. Please enjoy your time in this country to the fullest. I will help you with that. What are you interested in this country? I will introduce this country’s long history, traditional culture, beautiful seasonal highlights, and delicious food to you. Please let me know your preferences. If it’s other than which I mentioned, I’m preparing it for you as much as possible. Let’s enjoy the trip together!

What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour When the Imperial Palace Is Closed? A Licensed Guide's Report It felt a little cold on the day, but the weather was fine, and I believe the guests thoroughly enjoyed the tour itself. We had originally planned to visit the Imperial Palace, but it was a public visiting day, so the outer garden was extremely crowded and the East Gardens were closed. Instead, I guided the guests to Hamarikyu Gardens. Throughout the tour, I explained various aspects of Japanese culture and history, which the guests greatly appreciated. For lunch, the guests requested sushi, so I had wanted to take them to "Misuji" in Shiodome, but as it was a fine weekend it was fully booked with reservations, so I took them to "Sushiman" in Shibuya instead. It is located on the 8th floor of the Seibu Department Store, and it is often relatively empty even when the surrounding streets are crowded, so I think it is a good choice to keep in mind.

Hi, I am Nobu, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter (English).
I have been an English guide in Tokyo area since January 2017.
Tokyo is a wonderful city, and you may enjoy this city by yourselves.
Even so, I recommend you go around with a guide, especially if it is your first time visit to Tokyo.
A good guide will help you to understand about Tokyo and Japan as well as how to use convenient but complicated public transportations more effectively.
I am glad if I can help you to make your tour more enjoyable.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Tokyo soon!
