What Is a Private Kumano Kodo Walking Tour from Kii-Tanabe Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

I met the guests in Kii-Tanabe and greeted them. They had stayed at a hotel a little outside Tanabe the previous night and had walked 40 minutes from the hotel that morning.

The bus to Hongu had a very long line, and boarding and alighting took time, so we arrived at Hongu 15 minutes later than planned. We immediately caught the bus bound for Hosshinmon-oji.

It was a little chilly, but once we started walking it warmed up, and the guests enjoyed taking photos of the cherry blossoms, cedar groves, and tea fields.

They also seemed to enjoy the boxed lunch that contained a local specialty, sharing it between them. From April, the morning bus time became about 30 minutes later, but the return time did not change, so we walked at a somewhat brisk pace. One of the guests walked quickly, while the other enjoyed taking photos and followed along at the very back.

At Oyunohara the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and they took many photos of the blossoms. After that, we took the bus back to Kii-Tanabe, and the guests enjoyed the scenery.

There was some traffic in Kii-Tanabe, so we were about 10 minutes behind schedule, but they were able to catch the train to Osaka that they had planned.

In spring there are especially many foreign tourists, and I was worried about whether we could get on the bus and whether we could get seats, but we managed. During times like this, using a car share might also be a good idea.
