    What Is a 6-Hour Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. As it was their first time in Kyoto, the ancient capital with over a thousand years of history, they had been very much looking forward to today's tour. They wished to visit as many places as possible within six hours, so we visited the five locations mentioned above. Initially, I had planned to see them off at their hotel, but they said they would make their own way and asked me to drop them off at one more recommended spot instead. I took them to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, where we parted ways.

    Can You Visit Tokyo's Japanese Gardens on a Private Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on East Gardens, Meiji Jingu, and Rikugien I guided a guest visiting from Oceania. When we met in the morning, the guest explained that they would be joining the tour alone that day, as another member of the group was tired, and mentioned that this person was interested only in football and music rather than gardens. Since we would be walking through three gardens, I checked about their mobility, and the guest reassured me that they had once walked 70 km of the Kumano Kodo over five days, so it would be no problem. I was curious about this, so I ended up asking many questions about the Kumano Kodo, though I think I would probably explore it by car myself. In any case, although only part was in bloom, the guest enjoyed the irises and water lilies at the East Gardens and the Meiji Jingu Inner Garden, admired the scenery of each garden, and was surprised by the quiet that felt impossible to find in a big city. That said, the guest did not seem overly moved and viewed everything rather calmly, so I wondered how they truly felt and whether they really liked Japanese gardens. However, after the tour ended, I received a message via a messaging app saying, "Thank you for showing me such beautiful Japanese gardens," which put me at ease. Today we were lucky to catch Edo Daikagura performances at Rikugien and a wedding procession at Meiji Jingu at just the right moments. The guest said the good luck kept coming. The Edo Daikagura lasts nearly 30 minutes, so I checked, and the guest said, "It's interesting, so I'd like to watch until the end," and enjoyed it. At the final stop, the Meiji Jingu Inner Garden, the guest's phone battery was running low, so I took photos on their behalf. The guest has celiac disease, so I intended to take them to a gluten-free specialty shop in Ueno Station, where a previous guest with celiac disease had enjoyed churros, but unfortunately it had closed two weeks earlier. The guest also declined a gluten-free specialty shop near Rikugien. Because the guest explained that accidentally consuming gluten would cause three days of nausea, I am extremely careful not to recommend food carelessly. Some people say they will not eat if there is any possibility of contamination, and since the guest had told me in advance that they were fine without a meal, I guided the tour without lunch. As breakfast had been only yogurt and vegetables, the guest was a little tired by the end. The guest said that the restaurant for dinner would likely be chosen by another member of the group, and I hope they can enjoy a full meal.

    What Is a Private Tokyo Toyosu Tuna Auction and Tsukiji Food Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Both of them had been looking forward to the tuna auction, and from the moment we met they had many questions, so the conversation was lively right from the start and it became an enjoyable tour. At the tuna auction, the three of us, including myself, predicted the auction prices in advance and played a game to see whose predicted price came closest to the actual auction price, which was a lot of fun. At the sushi restaurant, the guests shared an "all tuna" set and an "omakase" set, and they were deeply impressed by the differences in flavor among the various cuts of tuna and by the deliciousness of seasonal fish, delighting in the fact that "you couldn't enjoy this quality at this price back in North America." At Tsukiji, they observed the intermediate wholesalers at work and got a firsthand sense of the seafood trade in Japan.

    Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Arashiyama The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was a Sunday, so the roads were congested, and because some tickets were lost, we ran short on time and ended up skipping Kinkaku-ji. Fushimi Inari Taisha was extremely crowded, which unexpectedly took up a lot of time, and at Nijo Castle some of the guests lost their tickets, so it took a while to get in. As a result, we skipped the Japanese garden. We had lunch at a family restaurant, but the food took a long time to arrive, which left us with even less time, so in the end we went to the bamboo grove and took the shortest route. Some of the guests wanted to be dropped off at Kinkaku-ji, but due to time constraints we dropped them off at Enmachi instead, and took the remaining guests to Nishiki Market, where the tour ended. It was a shame that we had to skip Kinkaku-ji.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and teamLab The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, stopping over in Tokyo on their way home. They had many Tokyo sightseeing spots in mind, having gathered ideas through social media. After Meiji Shrine, while we were discussing heading to Shibuya, they introduced me to several cafés they wanted to visit. One of them turned out to be right next to Harajuku Station. So we visited ANAKUMA Café, a unique spot where a bear's paw comes out of a hole in the wall to hand you your coffee. They ordered coffee, experienced it for themselves, and had a great time. They took many photos and videos. They were also interested in a 2D café in Shin-Okubo and hoped to go if time allowed, but we ran out of time and could not make it there. At the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, I helped by taking a burst of photos of them crossing together with a Starbucks coffee shop in the background, and they loved the photos, getting very excited as they looked at them. Next, at Zojoji Temple, there was a surprising discovery — a connection between one of the guests and Zojoji Temple came to light. When I introduced the Himalayan cedar planted by General Grant, the 18th President of the United States, it turned out that General Grant was a maternal ancestor of one of the guests. We took a commemorative photo together in front of that great tree. After Tokyo Tower, when boarding the subway at Kamiyacho Station on the Hibiya Line, we realized that the teamLab exhibition they had booked for the evening was teamLab Borderless in the basement of Azabudai Hills. Although this tour was scheduled to end at 7:00, I confirmed their booking was for 7:30. After showing them the entrance once, we headed for the ticket gate. One of the guests, who had apparently skipped the lunch they had intended to have before the tour, wished after visiting the Imperial Palace to satisfy their appetite with something like a hamburger rather than something sweet. So we went to the 7th floor of the Shin-Marunouchi Building, where they ordered a hamburger to share and enjoyed it on the terrace while gazing at the Tokyo Station building. Since we had been walking a lot, it also made for a good rest to recover their energy. Finally, in line with their request expressed in the morning to see the 3D signage cat, we took the Chuo Line to Shinjuku. They took many photos, including the Godzilla Head, and were delighted. Then, hurrying a little to make the 7:30 booking, we returned to Kamiyacho Station, guided them to the entrance of teamLab Borderless, and said our goodbyes.

    What Is a Private Kumano Kodo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report from Kii-Tanabe When I arrived at Kii-Tanabe, the guests had already arrived, so we greeted each other and I handed over the day's itinerary. We bought lunch at a convenience store and set off by bus. On the bus, the guests told me that they live in North America, that one of them is retired, and that they travel frequently and had already planned their next trip. We arrived at Hongu, and during the time waiting to change buses, we took photos in front of the great torii gate at Oyunohara, then boarded the bus from in front of the World Heritage Center. Many people got off at Hosshinmon-oji, and it took about 10 minutes to disembark. At Hosshinmon-oji, I explained the history of the Kumano Kodo and about Hosshinmon-oji, and we started the walk. Along the way, one of the guests took photos of the flowers by the path and the beautiful mountain scenery. The other guest was very interested in history and listened attentively to my explanations. We arrived at Fushiogami-oji 30 minutes behind schedule and had lunch. We started walking again in the afternoon, and the guests seemed to have made friends with another group who caught up with us, and they chatted together. We took photos at the lookout point and headed toward Hongu Taisha, but there were stone steps in some places, and one of the guests had some difficulty. Hongu Taisha was crowded with many people, but we paid our respects and headed to the bus stop. Since we were at the front of the line, we were able to get seats. Along the way, the guests showed me some photos and talked about their future travel plans. We arrived at Kii-Tanabe a little late, said our goodbyes, and ended the tour.

    What Is a Private Kyoto Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report on Nijo Castle Since the guests found the location of their accommodation near Kyoto Station difficult to locate, I met the group at their Hotel in Kyoto. The guests came from North America and had a very deep interest in Japanese culture and history, asking many questions about Kyoto's history and daily life even while we were traveling. At Nijo Castle, they showed strong curiosity not only about Tokugawa Ieyasu and the politics of the Edo period, but also about the names of the birds and plants depicted in the wall paintings, the meanings behind each of them, and even the role that folding fans placed on the tatami mats once played. They listened to my explanations very attentively, and their eagerness to deeply understand Japanese culture was truly impressive. The tour with such intellectually curious guests had a warm atmosphere throughout, and it was a very enjoyable and enriching time for me as well.

    Hello. It is very nice to meet you. My name is Etsuko Nakaba. I am based in the Kansai Area, which includes popular sightseeing spots
    such as the old capital Kyoto with many old temples, Nara, which is well known for vowing deer, and Osaka-the city of gourmet, entertainment and commerce.

    The Kansai area was the center of Japanese culture, as this is the place where the capital of Japan was located in the olden times.
    I was born and raised in a historical city Kobe, which is also in the Kansai area.　The city is famous for its port and old residences
    of merchants from Europe and Asia, as it opened its port for forreign trade about 150 years ago.
    It is also well known for the premium quality beef-Kobe Beef.
    The melting in the mouth texture is what every tourist would like to try. It is also one of the best 3 Japanese sake producing spots.
    Sake’s refined taste goes with not only Japanese traditional quisine, but also various dishes from around the worldaround.
    I am certain of its good match with Kobe beef. Some sake breweries show traditional sake making process, which are intriguing.
    It is also renowned for being home to one of the 3 oldest hot springs in Japan, Arima.The color of the water is gold,
    as it contains a lot of iron. It was frequented by a famous warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi 500 years ago.

    I love my hometown Kobe; however, I also lived in Tokyo for 20 years. So, l know the allure
    of the representative two cities o feastern and western Japan, Tokyo and Osaka.
    As a matter of course, there are many hidden gems in each area, in the northern, middle, or southern Japan.
    For example, Himeji City, which is to the west of Kobe city is renowned for its 400 year old castle. which is a world cultural heritage site.
    It was built by a shogun, the leader of samaurai- feudal warriors and the de facto leader of the nation.
    The original structure of the castle transfers us back to the olden times governed by samurai.
    Though some people believe that they still exist, the class was abolished aobut 150 years ago due to the drastic political reform called “Meiji Restoration”.
    If you would like to, I could take you to the fascilities where you can see authentic samurai’s armor and swords.
    Ninja or secret agents, who served feudal lords, do not exist any more either. A ninja museum in Shiga prefecture was a residence of ninja before.
    It is not rennovated for the service, so you can enjoy the complicated interior with some contraptions to defeat the intruders.

    Japan has distinct four seasons, which makes this country more attractive. Each season has its own attractions.
    Spring and autumn are ideal for sightseeing, as the climate is mild and you can enjoy beautiful scenery such as cherry blossoms or autumn foliage.
    Between summer and autumn, there is the rainy season which lasts for about a month. This season feartures hydrangeas.
    A historical city Kamakura, where the first samurai government started, is embraced by a serene atomosphere in June, as the combination of the
    old temples and the delicate beauty of hydrangeas in the overcast or rainy weather is the essence of Japanese beauty.

    The southern island Kyushu was also a gate for overseas trade. Okinawa also has its own unique and rich culture, as it was not a part of Japan in the past.
    It was an independent country called ” Ryukyu Kingdom.”in the past.
    The beauty of the ocean and the unique culture and food have been captivating the hearts of the people all over the world.

    Like these, Japan is filled with historical and natural beauty.Furthermore, traditional Japanese quisene is an intangible world cultural heritage.

    What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe. They were very friendly from our first correspondence, and greeted me with warm smiles the moment we met, making it a heartfelt tour from start to finish. They had traveled in from Kyoto that morning and started the tour right after checking into their hotel. Thinking they might be tired, I asked about their preferences for transportation, but they said they had been sitting on the bullet train the whole way and wanted to walk plenty during their trip, so we went on foot. They really enjoyed the okonomiyaki lunch we had first. When I mentioned that different menu items were available at night, they made a dinner reservation at the same restaurant for the following evening, as they would be staying two nights. They were also delighted to be able to watch the okonomiyaki being cooked. At the Peace Memorial Park, they became teary-eyed, deeply moved by the suffering of children, and shared their thoughts about the uncertain state of the world today. There also happened to be high school students holding a concert by the river within the park, and they were very pleased to see it. After I told them about Sadako Sasaki, we folded paper cranes together. It turned out to be more difficult than expected to make, and they said they were newly moved by the thought of someone making a thousand of them. Their trip through Japan was planned to last a total of about two and a half weeks, with Hiroshima being their final sightseeing destination. When they said the remaining items on their to-do list were matcha and ramen, I asked about their wishes and, though it had not originally been in the itinerary, stopped by Hiroshima Castle and guided them to a matcha cafe. Since there was not much time before the final entry to Shukkeien Garden, I just showed them where it was, went around Hiroshima Castle, and then headed to Shukkeien. At Hiroshima Castle they were amazed at the number and size of the carp in the moat, which led to talk about the Carp baseball team, and from a soccer stadium visible in the distance, our conversation blossomed into sports as well. At Shukkeien Garden they took many photos, saying it was very beautiful, and were happy that although they could not come during the cherry blossom season, the azaleas were wonderfully lovely. The tour was scheduled to end at Shukkeien Garden, but since they had joined the tour right after arriving and seemed unfamiliar with the area for their dinner that evening and the way back to the hotel, we walked back together through the shopping arcade while I pointed out recommended shops along the way. At the end, they told me they felt we had become friends, and that this had been their best day in Japan, which made me truly happy.
