Title: What Can You See on a Private Nara Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests visited Japan from Oceania, arriving by cruise ship via other ports in Asia, with Nara being their final destination. It did not rain on the day of the tour, but it was an extremely cold day. Since the season was the opposite of what they were used to, the guests looked cold at the start of the tour. I gave them disposable hand warmers, which they were very happy to receive. The highlights of the tour were feeding the deer with "shika senbei" (deer crackers) and taking part in a tea ceremony. The guests bought about four packs of deer crackers and enjoyed feeding the deer at a relaxed pace near Todai-ji Temple and along the approach to Kasuga Taisha Shrine. During the tea ceremony, the guests seemed to enjoy drinking matcha and trying the experience of whisking matcha themselves, together with other guests. I am Yoshi, a Nara Local Government Licensed Guide Interpreter and also, a National Government Licensed Interepreter.
Let’s go out! The Kansai region was the center of Japan for a long time. It was from the 4th century to 19th century. Thus the Kansai region is rich in scenic and historic interest. Why don’t we see, feel, and find so many attractions in Nara Kyoto and Osaka. I was born and raised in Nara. Also I have been to Osaka and Kyoto for working, shopping and dining. I can show you not only major tourist spots but also shops and delicious food that only locals know. I am looking forward to sharing wonderful moments with you!

What's a Private Kamakura Tour from a Cruise Terminal Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Although this was a Kamakura tour, we arranged to meet at the cruise terminal to suit the guests' request. Since I had been informed of the ship's name in advance, I was able to do a preliminary check of the terminal's location and identify a suitable meeting point, which allowed us to meet up smoothly. I had been told that one of the guests walked slowly and needed to take things at an easy pace, but in reality, due to the fatigue of a long journey, walking was quite difficult for them. For this reason, to avoid the crowded morning trains and to allow for a rest, I suggested taking a taxi to Kamakura Station. Because it was the equinox period, the roads were congested and it took longer than usual, but we were fortunate to be able to show Mount Fuji from the car window along the way. After visiting Kotoku-in, since walking to Hase Station seemed too difficult for the guests, we took a bus from the stop in front of the temple back to Kamakura Station. We had lunch at a restaurant inside the station building. For the return, hoping the trains might be a little less crowded, we decided to take the train back to Yokohama Station, and we were lucky enough to find empty seats. Finally, I guided the guests to the observation deck of the Landmark Tower, which is near the cruise terminal, before seeing them off at the terminal, where we parted ways. Incidentally, I learned that guides can enter the Landmark Tower observation deck free of charge when accompanying guests, so I would like to make use of this again whenever the opportunity arises.

Hi. My name is Masafumi Miyazaki. Please call me “Sam”. I am a government-licensed guide.
I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.
I like reading, listening to the music, and walking. I belong to several walking clubs, and sometimes I guide the members around Tokyo.
One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market. At that shop, I learned a lot of things related to kombu or other ingredients for washoku. I can explain the different characteristics of them to you.
Also, I am familiar with Japanese flowers and plants. If you stroll around a Japanese garden with me, I am sure you will be able to enjoy beautiful flowers and unique plants in every season.
I look forward to meeting you. Thank you.

Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace, and Senso-ji The guests were a group visiting Japan for the first time from North America. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to continue to Kanazawa, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. At Meiji Shrine, they seemed deeply impressed by the quiet and solemn atmosphere, which was so different from Shibuya. At the Imperial Palace, they listened with great interest to historical explanations about the role of the Emperor, the Meiji Restoration, and the Edo shogunate. At Senso-ji, they were interested to hear about the differences between temples and shrines, and they enjoyed sweets along Nakamise Street. At Hamarikyu Gardens, they appeared impressed by the beautiful Japanese garden. Since I responded to the guests' wishes throughout, I believe they were satisfied.

What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like in Heavy Snow? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had arranged a 6-hour taxi themselves, with the meeting and drop-off point at a hotel in Kinugawa. Due to heavy snowfall that had started the previous night (the biggest of the season), the scenery was very beautiful, but it was a challenging day with traffic jams, road closures, and poor footing underfoot. The guests wished to see Kegon Falls as well, so we changed course and headed there, but due to the snow there were traffic jams in the World Heritage area, and the Irohazaka road was closed because of an accident and snow removal, forcing us to change the plan again. When it took longer than expected and I looked apologetic, they kindly told me, "It's not your fault," which was a great relief. Thanks to the taxi, I was able to take care to minimize walking in the poor conditions, but snow removal at Rinnoji Temple and Toshogu Shrine had not caught up, so we walked very slowly to avoid slipping, which took even more time. Since they did not want to get their shoes and socks wet, we skipped all the places that required removing shoes, but even so, by the time we left Toshogu it was nearly 2 o'clock. Furthermore, because of the snow, the restaurant I usually use was closed, so I asked whether they wanted to go somewhere farther away for lunch or skip lunch and visit the Imperial Villa. They decided to skip lunch and go to the Imperial Villa. Since the taxi was for 6 hours, we had to return to the hotel in Kinugawa by 3 o'clock, and the guests understood this. Perhaps having walked in the snow and being cold and tired, they may also have wanted to return early and enjoy the hot spring. Although there were many difficult moments, fortunately the guests were very cheerful and curious about many things. In the taxi they showered me with questions, and we chatted a great deal and had a wonderful time, so in the end I believe they were pleased. For the next day, they were returning from Kinugawa to Tokyo by taxi, and since they said they would like the same type of vehicle and driver as today, I was able to arrange that too, which reassured the guests. It was a day where I was fortunate to be blessed with wonderful guests and a pleasant taxi driver.

Hello! My name is Yumi. The Nikko area, Nasu area, in Tochigi Prefecture, and Aizu and Shirakawa area in Fukushima prefecture, where I will be guiding you, are not only surrounded by beautiful nature in all four seasons but are also full of historical attractions. Nikko, in particular, is a great place to learn about the culture and history that has shaped Japan to this day. In order for you to truly enjoy your day, I am flexible to your wishes and will prepare your day to be a great day. Because I am a local guide, you will surely see some sights that are not in the guidebooks. Is local food one of your favorite parts of your trip? Hiroshima in Half a Day: Miyajima & Itsukushima Shrine

    Tour Itinerary

    • 14:20 Meet at the exit of the Peace Memorial Museum
    • Tour of the target points: Cenotaph, Flame of Peace, Dome, Aioi Bridge, and the hypocenter
    • 15:05 Board the Peace Memorial cruise
    • 15:50 Arrive at Miyajima
    • Stroll through the shopping street
    • 16:25 Visit Itsukushima Shrine
    • Since the tide was out, we strolled near the Great Torii Gate and then returned to the shopping street
    • 17:00 Guided them to the location of Miyama Cafe where a reservation had been made
    • The two of them expressed a wish to do lots of food sampling along the shopping street, so I canceled the restaurant reservation on the spot
    • 17:15 Returned to the shopping street, and since the two could move around freely from here on, the service was concluded.

What Is a Half-Day Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who were touring Japan on a cruise ship docked at a port. They appeared to be greatly enjoying their tour of Japan. The booking was for a half-day Miyajima tour, but from our email exchanges I learned they also wished to visit the Atomic Bomb Dome and the museum. So they entered the museum on their own, and we started the tour from the museum exit (they also made their own reservation for museum entry). The guests kept in close contact via both email and a messaging app, so even the change to the scheduled time on the day of the tour went very smoothly. They seemed to be looking forward to shopping in Miyajima, and they looked with great interest at rice-paddle charms and toy Japanese swords. I wish I had been able to share a little more detailed information to help with their shopping.

    Hello,I’m Yoshiko.
Hiroshima is my home town, I love this city. I believe that Hiroshima is one of the best tourists’ destinations in Japan. In this place surrounded by natural beauty combined with abundant greenery and water flowing of rivers, you could have valuable opportunities for thinking the world peace and for reflecting on Japanese traditional culture that has been nurtured throughout Japan’s long history. I’m happy if you could enjoy your tour at my favorite city of Hiroshiima with me. I will introduce the charm and significance of Hiroshima, focusing on its two World Heritage Sites: the Atomic Bomb Dome and the beautiful Myajima island and Itsukushima shrine built over the sea.

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Hiroshima Like from a Cruise Ship? A Licensed Guide's Report Since the cruise ship's arrival time was unclear until the last minute, I had been told they would arrive around 2:30, but I received word that they had reached the meeting point by 1:10, so I hurried over and met them at 1:40. The guests were visiting from North America. They were traveling on a cruise route of Yokohama → Osaka → Kobe → Hiroshima → Nagasaki → Jeju Island. We walked from Hiroshima Station to Shukkeien Garden. The Kawazu cherry blossoms were in bloom, which delighted them. It seemed they had not visited a Japanese garden on this tour, so they took many photos. I let them choose between walking to Hiroshima Castle or moving by bus, and we went via Hiroshima Castle to the Atomic Bomb Dome. I had explained that there would be a lot of walking in Hiroshima as well, but since they had already walked a great deal on previous tours, they were tired and we walked while taking frequent breaks. The Peace Memorial Museum was extremely crowded, partly because two cruise ships had arrived. It seemed their feet began to hurt partway through the museum, so they returned to the port by taxi.

Hi, I’m Kazumi, National Government licensed guide interpreter.
I have lived in Hiroshima over 10 years and know how to use local transportation around Hiroshima city.
Hiroshima was the first city in the world where an atomic bomb was used against humans. Why don’t you come to Hiroshima to learn about the tragedy of the atomic bombing and think about peace?
Not only the tragedy of the atomic bombing, I want to show you the beautiful scenery of Hiroshima. At Shukkeien, wonderful seasonal trees and flowers are in bloom, and the harmony with the beauty of the Japanese garden is wonderful!
Furthermore, Miyajima is worth visiting with its beautiful scenery of Torii-gate and Itsukushima shrine.
Don’t miss the delicious local food! Okonomiyaki is Hiroshima’s local food, it’s savory pancake, is typically made of cabbage, egg, and flour, but you can also put anything you like, such as pork and seafood. Hiroshima has a lot of delicious food not only Okonomiyaki for you to choose.
I want you to have wonderful time and have fun while staying in Hiroshima!
    Let’s have fun at Hiroshima!!

It was their first time visiting Hiroshima and Miyajima, and they especially wished to spend plenty of time on Miyajima. Since they were staying in Hiroshima for several nights, we spent nearly five hours leisurely exploring Miyajima on the day of the tour. In addition to Itsukushima Shrine, I guided them to Daisho-in, a Shingon Buddhist temple, which they greatly enjoyed. Afterward, we returned to central Hiroshima, where I guided them to various monuments other than the museum. They planned to visit the museum the following day in March.

What Does a Private One-Day Tokyo Walking Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report The weather was good despite a slight chill, and it made for an enjoyable tour. Since it was the guests' first time in Japan, we bought Suica cards at Shinjuku Station and then proceeded to Meiji Shrine and Asakusa. I gave a detailed explanation of the Meiji Restoration, Shinto, shrines, Buddhism, and temples, which the guests listened to attentively. In Asakusa, after taking photos of the Skytree, we visited Senso-ji Temple. The guests did no shopping at all, so the tour proceeded smoothly. At their request, I guided them to the observation deck of the tourist information center, where the view was excellent and they were able to capture the full scene of Nakamise, which seemed to please them. We bought lunch at a convenience store in the basement of the Palace Building and ate it on a bench inside the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. In the East Gardens, several varieties of cherry blossoms were in bloom, and I took photos for the guests. At Yasukuni Shrine and the Yushukan Museum, I talked about modern Japanese history, the circumstances of the war, and prewar treaties with Europe. In front of Yasukuni Shrine, I handed the guests a paper with directions to Akihabara, their next destination, and the tour concluded. Overall, I believe the guests were satisfied.

At the Hakone Open-Air Museum, the guests thoroughly enjoyed the works, especially in the Picasso Pavilion. At Owakudani, the guests already knew about the black eggs and bought some for us to eat together. That day, Mount Fuji was beautifully visible, and the guests took many photos at every spot where it could be seen. Over lunch, the guests brought up many topics about Japanese culture, and the conversation seemed endless. A kind driver took us to a spectacular viewpoint where both Lake Ashi and Mount Fuji could be seen, and the guests were deeply moved. At the Amazake Chaya teahouse, the conversation kept flowing and topics never ran out. The guests were extremely curious and had researched Japan very well, making them a delight to guide. I believe the guests enjoyed the day as well.

Before I started the guiding job in 2022, I had worked for private companies and been engaged in overseas business, which led me to be stationed in various English-speaking countries. Taking advantage of such experiences and also wishing to reciprocate the kindness extended to me during my career, I have decided to help visitors to Japan enjoy their stay and obtained a national guide license.
I am very honored and pleased to assist guests from overseas and enjoy seeing them having a great time visiting interesting spots in Japan and learning about the country. I look forward to serving more new guests and seeing them smile at the end of my private tours.

Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like Before a Japan Cruise? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Europe. They shared that over the next few days they planned to sightsee in Tokyo and around Mount Fuji, after which they would board a cruise and spend about ten days traveling to various parts of Japan. They said they were surprised by how clean and beautiful the city was, how precisely the subway ran, and how polite and kind the people were. They mentioned that they had arrived at their Hotel more smoothly and earlier than expected. I received a message asking whether we could begin the tour a little earlier, so we started about an hour ahead of schedule. The weather was excellent, and since there was no crowding in the ticket line at Tokyo Tower, we went up to the 150-meter main observation deck. We could not see Mount Fuji from there, but the guests said they had already seen it from the airplane and kindly showed me a beautiful photo of the summit taken from above. Hoping we might see some early-blooming cherry blossoms, we also extended the tour to the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, which had not been part of the original plan, and enjoyed the flowers. The guests loved every place we visited and captured them all in photographs. At the start of the tour they had not yet been able to check in to their Hotel, so to help them rest after their long journey, I saw them back to the Hotel at four o'clock, guided them to some nearby dinner options, and said goodbye.
