    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like for Anime Fans? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji Shrine, and Shibuya PARCO Body: The guests were booked just a few days in advance and had no specific requests for where to go, but mentioned an interest in gardens, history, and anime, so with their agreement I planned a route covering Shinjuku Gyoen, the Meiji Shrine area, and Shibuya PARCO. When I met them, it turned out they were serious anime, manga, and video game fans, and at Meiji Shrine they remarked that it looked "like the master's estate in Demon Slayer." We talked about history along the way, but they were even more enthusiastic about debating which part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure was the most interesting, and I joined in as well. Shibuya PARCO was a truly perfect fit, and we visited the Nintendo store, the Jump Shop, and the CAPCOM store. The Pokémon Center had an entry restriction in place at the time. The weather was rainy, but they were actually delighted to buy a Megumi Fushiguro clear umbrella from Jujutsu Kaisen and stroll around Shibuya with it.

    What's a Private Day Tour of Matsushima in Miyagi Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests, who chose Miyagi as the final stop of their first visit to Japan, kindly informed me in advance of the train number and arrival time of their bullet train, so I went to meet them at the ticket gate. The signage for the bullet train meeting point had changed, so I quickly wrote the tour name by hand on a blank sheet of paper and waited at the gate. When I saw some people who looked like they might be my guests, I called out to them, and indeed they were the ones I was expecting. Their requests were to take a Matsushima sightseeing cruise and to eat oysters, and if there was time, to stroll around the area including Zuiganji Temple. As for the oysters, we decided to look at the menus of several oyster huts before choosing. Since the guests preferred a relaxed pace, we kept the walking slow and the itinerary comfortable. They seemed to be enjoying their stay, expressing admiration for the thoughtfulness of Japanese people they had encountered during their time in Japan. The Matsushima cruise was as crowded as ever, but since we had lined up early, we were able to secure seats. Regarding the oyster huts, I mentioned that all-you-can-eat steamed oysters in Matsushima usually cost around 3,000 yen, but after looking at the menu they chose a set that also included rice and soup. They remarked that the food court of the grilled oyster house, which felt like a fisherman's work shed, was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Since the restoration work on the openwork bridge at Godaido had been moved up from the end of March to March 14, we decided after lunch to start with the nearby spots. While telling the story of the three red bridges of Matsushima, I wondered about Fukuura Bridge, but when I explained it would take about 40 minutes to cross and return, we walked to the pier where the bridge could be seen and they took photographs there. One of the guests said, "It seems tiring, so let's have some tea before the temple," so I suggested the café at the Shokado confectionery shop near Zuiganji Temple, which is famous for its castella sponge cake. The atmosphere was lovely, but since it is a popular shop, I asked whether it would be all right to wait about ten minutes, and they replied that they preferred not to move and to stay there. In the open kitchen they could watch the castella being cut, which they found very interesting. Saying it was their first time at a Japanese café, they ordered the castella and pudding set, and delightedly remarked, "Ah, this is flan. It tastes like home." While relaxing at the café, one of the guests said, "We don't need to go to Zuiganji. We've walked quite a lot today. It was wonderful to see how the castella is made here." So on the way back, we viewed the Zuiganji Temple approach and the plum blossoms in front of Entsuin Temple before returning to the station. When I asked about the time of their bullet train to Tokyo, they said 17:20, so we were able to head to the bullet train ticket gate without rushing, right on schedule. What guests seek from a tour varies greatly from person to person. Today, I believe they were able to spend a relaxed and leisurely time on the final day of their trip.

    Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Tour of Temples and Shrines Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America. Two days before the tour, I received a request to push the tour start time back by one hour. They were based at a hotel near Kyoto Station and were traveling around the Kansai region. On the day of the tour, they had taken an 8:00 bullet train from Kyoto to visit Himeji Castle before we met. Throughout the tour, the guests were bright and got along wonderfully, with conversation never letting up. Some of the guests had studied Japanese for a year, and combined with knowledge from watching the TV series "Shogun," they asked many questions that made our conversation lively. They also had a hobby of collecting goshuin stamps at temples and shrines, as well as stamps at castles and train stations, and it was heartwarming to see them gather these at each place we visited and carefully keep them.

At the beginning of the tour, to build rapport with the guests, I shared some of my own experiences from living in North America. Specifically, I talked about studying English at a night adult school, learning Spanish greetings through exchanges with immigrant communities, shopping at supermarkets late at night, and even an episode of being followed by a helicopter on the highway, all of which helped create a relaxed atmosphere. ・As one of the guests had some concern about walking, I chose routes with less physical strain by using elevators and escalators when moving around. ・One of the guests had a strong interest in psychology and shared deep knowledge about Buddhism during the tour, making it a highly enriching experience. Through conversation with the guests, we exchanged culture and knowledge with each other, and I was able to conduct a fulfilling tour. In particular, choosing routes that took mobility into consideration worked well, and I felt the guests were able to participate comfortably.     Can You Visit Toyosu Fish Market and Odaiba on a Private Tokyo Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who are fans of Japan and had experienced the old Tsukiji market before its relocation. At the Toyosu Market, the group spent a full hour carefully observing the tuna auction and asked many questions. Afterward, they had breakfast at Daiwa Sushi. They had dined at the Tsukiji branch before, so it was the best choice. Enjoying the front car of the Yurikamome line, we got off at Odaiba Seaside Park. We walked along the beach and I guided them onto the wooden boardwalk. We viewed the Statue of Liberty replica and took in the scenery across Tokyo Bay. We took the Yurikamome from Daiba to Shiodome. We took commemorative photos at the Ghibli Clock. I gave a quick tour of the Tsukiji outer market, and then we parted ways.

    Title: What Is a Private Nikko Day Tour Like in Winter? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private winter day tour of Nikko for guests visiting from North America. All the advance arrangements were made through the guests' agent, and since I had been told the guests could not walk very far, I recommended traveling by taxi. Although a detailed itinerary had been arranged in advance with the agent, in practice there were many changes based on the guests' wishes. Their experience at each location was as follows. – Shoyoen Garden: The guests were interested only in the garden. They mentioned they had seen many temples in Asia already and did not need to see more, so we skipped the Sanbutsudo Hall of Rinnoji. At Shoyoen it was slippery with snow, so we truly walked slowly, one step at a time. From time to time the guests stopped and were taken by the beautiful scenery. – Convenience store: I had advised them in advance to dress warmly, but it was colder than they had imagined, so they wanted to buy socks and gloves as well as something to eat. However, winter gloves and scarves were already sold out. – Coffee shop: The guests wanted to have tea somewhere warm. Since the convenience store no longer had gloves, while they were having tea I took a taxi to a home center to buy gloves. The home center was also already sold out of regular gloves, so they kindly accepted gardening gloves instead. Since I did not know their preferences, I bought several types, intending to buy the extras myself, but one of the guests paid for all of them and gave me the ones they did not need. – Toshogu Shrine: Because it was very cold and the guests could not climb stairs without a handrail, we gave up on the staircase in front of the Yomeimon Gate. We were able to go only as far as the famous three monkeys carving. – Kegon Falls: There are many stairs here as well, but the guests said they would be fine with a handrail, so we took the elevator down to the bottom. It was very cold, so we could not stay long, but they were amazed by the snowy scenery and the water springing out from all around the falls. – Lunch at a restaurant: I had hoped they could enjoy lunch with a view of Lake Chuzenji, but it was foggy and hard to see. One of the guests preferred not to eat carbohydrates and chose a chicken steak set without rice or bread, having an extra salad instead. The talks I usually give at Rinnoji and Toshogu about Shinto and Buddhism, and about history around the Edo period, I gave over lunch this time because it was simply too cold at the sites. During this, the questions developed into some very difficult topics, including when Christianity first came to Japan, and — having heard that the carvings of the Yomeimon Gate express a wish for peace — why Japan had attacked China and various parts of Asia, how I felt about the atomic bombs, why Japanese people do not buy American cars, and even what Japanese people honestly think of the current American political leadership. The guests seemed to hold their own views very firmly, so depending on how I answered, the enjoyment of the entire day could have been ruined. I had to think very hard to answer carefully, objectively, and with respect, without creating conflict. After lunch, the guests said it was too cold to walk even one more step outside, so Lake Chuzenji, Senjogahara, Lake Yunoko, the Irohazaka winding road, and the cedar avenue were all viewed from the taxi window. I more often meet guests who lean toward a different political view, so it had been a while since I spoke at length with guests holding such strong opposing political opinions, and it reminded me anew of the importance of diversity. I always try to avoid political topics as much as possible, but when a guest raises them I have to respond, so I keenly felt the need to prepare for such situations on a daily basis.

    Title: What Is a 6-Hour Private Harajuku and Shibuya Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from North America. With a relatively comfortable 6 hours available, I planned an itinerary focused on relaxing rather than covering a lot of ground. To make the tour enjoyable, I focused my explanations on fashion and subculture from Harajuku to Shibuya. At Nogizaka, I explained Shinto. There were few visitors and cherry blossoms as well. The area is compact and well organized, allowing me to efficiently explain a variety of topics. The guests experienced riding the subway for the first time. At Meiji Shrine, I treated everyone to stone-roasted sweet potatoes, which we all enjoyed together. We walked from Takeshita Street through Cat Street, then passed through the Onden area to Miyashita Park. The guests had a meal at a lobster burger restaurant along the way. In Shibuya, we visited the Magnet building, which has many anime-related tenants. They purchased One Piece goods. After that, we went to the Hachiko crossing. At the guests' request to try authentic matcha and related drinks, we took a tea break at Fukuras. We enjoyed a menu linked to an immersive Hokusai ukiyo-e experience facility held within the building. The guests returned by taxi.
