What's a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

I guided a group visiting from Europe on a private tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima.

At Miyajima, the timing coincided with high tide, so the guests were able to enjoy taking photos with the Great Torii Gate in the background.

One of the guests was studying Japanese and had a particular interest in kanji. While most people begin learning Japanese through conversation, this guest had started with kanji, and understood all the kanji on the signs we passed.

Since the group had researched a great deal of information online in advance, I focused my guiding mainly on anecdotes and stories.

They planned to stay in Hiroshima the following day as well, and were looking forward to watching a kagura performance in the evening.

Some of the guests also mentioned that, after visiting Hiroshima, they planned to travel to Kinosaki Onsen. Since it is a place not widely known among international travelers, I asked them why, and they explained: "Everywhere is crowded during Golden Week, and after researching onsen that allow guests with tattoos, we ended up choosing Kinosaki Onsen."

These days, information is easily available online. That is precisely why I felt strongly, once again, that as a guide I must provide accurate and valuable information.
