    What's a Private Kyoto Tour Like with a Family? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from the Middle East. The meeting point was Kyoto Station, but I received a message through a messaging app that their departure from the hotel was delayed, so we actually gathered around 9:50. The morning was cold, so when one of the guests seemed to feel the chill, I offered a disposable hand warmer, which was appreciated. At Higashimaru Shrine, an auxiliary shrine of Fushimi Inari Taisha, the guests offered an ema votive plaque. One of the guests had strong mood swings, at one point crying about wanting ice cream on the Fushimi Inari approach and saying they wanted to go back to the hotel, so after Fushimi Inari Taisha, some of the guests returned to the hotel by taxi, and I continued to the remaining sites with the rest of the group. After strolling through the Arashiyama bamboo grove, we climbed to the top of Kameyama Park to enjoy the view of the Hozugawa Gorge, and the guests were delighted that the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. They wanted ramen for lunch, so I tried two or three shops, but there were long lines at each. Since one of the guests needed to eat something soon or would feel lightheaded, we held off on ramen and had lunch at a Japanese restaurant instead. After lunch, we walked to Kinkaku-ji. After exploring Kinkaku-ji, the guests said they would shop at a supermarket and then return to the hotel by taxi, so we parted ways near the main gate of Kinkaku-ji. One of the guests remarked that they wanted to breathe in the fresh green air deeply, and it was memorable to see them taking deep breaths from time to time.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Mount Misen Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan together as a group. Since the group had a family connection to Yamaguchi Prefecture, they planned to travel on to Yamaguchi after sightseeing in Hiroshima. Originally, we had planned to visit Itsukushima Shrine and Daishoin Temple, but the weather that day was excellent and the views looked as though they would be beautiful, so we changed the plan and took the ropeway up to climb Mount Misen. The guests were deeply moved by the view from the summit of Mount Misen and told me, "Thank you for changing the plan. You were a wonderful guide." Afterwards, I had a meal with the guests in the Miyajima shopping street, and we parted ways.

    Title: What's a Private Cherry Blossom Day Tour of Osaka Castle and Dotonbori Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: This was a tour where the itinerary was left up to me, and because it was cherry blossom season and heavy crowds were expected, I decided to make sure we did not miss Osaka Castle and Dotonbori. Thanks to the Osaka Metro one-day pass, we were able to skip the line for Osaka Castle Keep tickets, but it took about 15 minutes to get on the elevator inside the castle keep. The guests listened attentively to my explanations, and I was struck by the happy expression as one of them said, "Now I can guide people here myself." Since Osaka Castle Park is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot for local residents, I brought a picnic sheet and a seasonal item (an Asahi Super Dry with a cherry blossom design) so that the guests could enjoy hanami just like the locals. Fortunately, both guests said they enjoyed beer. Beneath the beautiful cherry trees, with the turrets of Osaka Castle in the background, we were able to take some wonderful photos. Since the cruise ship's boarding deadline was 14:00, I made sure to arrive at Osakako Station shortly after 13:00 so the guests would not have to worry. They returned safely and looked relieved.

    Title: What's a Full-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Fushimi Inari, and Kiyomizu-dera The guests were visitors from North America who had been volunteering with an NGO in Hiroshima for about six months. As they mentioned they were not very familiar with Japanese history and culture, I introduced the background and meaning of each site as we went along throughout the tour. On the day, I met them in the hotel lobby at 10:00 a.m., and after greetings we discussed the day's itinerary and their wishes. The first place we visited was Nijo Castle, where I guided them mainly around the Higashi Otemon Gate, Karamon Gate, Ninomaru Palace, and the Japanese garden. I carefully explained the history from the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate, through the social structure of the Edo period, to the Meiji Restoration. The cherry blossoms had just begun to bloom, and the cherry trees within Nijo Castle were very beautiful, which moved the guests greatly. Next, we visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, where I guided them through the Senbon Torii and the Omokaru-ishi stones. I also introduced Japan's shrine culture and the etiquette for worship. After that, we moved toward the Shijo area and visited Gion's Tatsumi Bridge, Hanamikoji Street, Yasui Konpiragu, Hokanji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda), the Koshin-do, Sannenzaka, and Kiyomizu-dera. Along the way, I shared stories about the cultural and urban differences between Kyoto and Hiroshima, and offered advice regarding their planned sightseeing in Nara for the following days. The weather was fine, the temperature was mild, and the cherry blossoms were at their peak, making it a perfect day for sightseeing. We took the tour at a comfortable pace, pausing several times for hydration and short breaks. After the tour, we parted ways at Kiyomizu-dera, promising to meet again.

While they were surprised by the crowds in Tokyo at various spots, they enjoyed the cherry blossoms in full bloom and finally visited a much-anticipated ramen shop.     Title: What's a Private Cherry Blossom Tour of Tokyo Like in Spring? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: I guided a wonderful, very polite and close-knit group during cherry blossom season in Tokyo. Because a travel agency was acting as an intermediary, there had been almost no direct communication beforehand, apart from a note about a physical concern within the group. When I checked their wishes on the morning of the tour, there were no particular requests, so we walked through the Inui-dori cherry blossom passage, which had just opened for the week, and visited Chidorigafuchi. Walking normally was no problem, and the guests were delighted by the beautiful cherry blossoms and took many photos. Their only regret was that there was no blue sky to complete the scene. When I mentioned that Yasukuni Shrine could be seen nearby, the guests were eager to visit, so we went. When I explained the reference cherry tree (the official blossom-forecasting tree) and the basics of the shrine, one of the guests interpreted for the rest of the group. Along the way, we came across a family in traditional kimono for a shichi-go-san celebration, and since the children looked so lovely in their attire, we were kindly allowed to take a photo together (I am grateful to the family for their gracious consent and offer). After that, the guests asked whether Ueno is famous for cherry blossoms, so after stopping by the food floor of a department store, we decided to go to Ueno Park and then to nearby Asakusa. The guests were fascinated by the crowds enjoying hanami in Ueno Park and were pleased to have captured some interesting photos. On the way to Ueno Toshogu Shrine, there was a food stall making karumeyaki, and since the guests watched it with great interest, I explained it and bought one for them. Just as one of the guests picked it up to take the first taste, it suddenly popped and shattered, sending pieces of the sweet flying everywhere. Everyone burst into laughter — though I did feel apologetic. Beyond my work as a guide, I personally had a truly enjoyable day, and I am grateful to the guests. With the cherry blossoms in full bloom, my hay fever had also subsided, which made things comfortable, but the guests were blowing their noses frequently, so the tissues I had in my bag came in handy, which I was glad about.

It occasionally drizzled, and the guests did not have rain gear or warm clothing, and since they also wanted to visit the Pokémon Center, we ended up making our way to Oshiage on the spur of the moment.
