They had been traveling in Japan for about a month and booked this tour to see the World Heritage site Himeji Castle before heading to their final destination. Since some cherry blossoms were still in bloom and the guests enjoyed walking, I took them to a scenic photo spot for cherry blossoms near the moat before we reached Himeji Castle. They had researched Himeji before their visit, and we had a lively conversation about many topics. At Kokoen Garden, flowers were blooming beautifully everywhere, and they took many photographs. The weather was unstable, and we encountered rain and strong winds at times, but I believe we had an enjoyable tour.

    Title: What Is a Private Kobe Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nunobiki Herb Garden and Kitano Ijinkan The guests were a group visiting from North America. One of the guests used a cane and had some difficulty with walking and stairs. The weather was quite chilly and very unstable, with clear blue skies one moment and rain the next, but the guests were very satisfied at each spot as they enjoyed the sights. In particular, from the observation deck of the Nunobiki Herb Garden, they were delighted to be able to see the cruise ship they were using. They also purchased many souvenirs. At the Kitano Ijinkan district, they visited the "Moegi House," the former U.S. Consulate General's residence, and toured it with great interest. Unfortunately, one of the guests, who was not steady on their feet, had to wait at the bottom of the stairs. Because we took quite a lot of time to explore thoroughly, we had planned to have a light lunch at the final spot, "Kobe Harborland," but there was not enough time, so we only did sightseeing and shopping. All of the guests spoke English very slowly and with beautiful pronunciation, and listening to them was a wonderful English lesson for me. (It felt just like the English of an excellent English teacher.) I presented handmade drawstring pouches made by my sister, and they were very grateful. (Unfortunately, I had assumed on my own that it was a smaller group, so I was only able to present them to some of the guests.) On this occasion as well, the driver had a courteous manner and provided fully satisfactory service.

    real genuine Kobe Beef here. Kobe is also called “Home of Japanese Sake” with lots of Sake breweries, and I recommend you would visit those breweries
    if you have any interest in Japanese Sake as well as one aspect of Japanese cultures. Of course, you can have tastings of various kinds of Sake there.

    Whenever during the tour, I always try to make it safe, pleasant and comfortable for all of the guests, which is my first priority. I am very much confident
    that you can have a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Japan. Just tell me about your preference; what you would like to like to see, have, know
    and eat and so on. Particularly, I hold the license for cooking qualified by the government here and maybe, I can reply you for questions related to the
    foods here. In this respect, I strongly recommend you would try not only famous Japanese cuisine such as Sushi, Tempura or Suki-yaki but some
    Japanese traditional local foods, like Tako-yaki, Okonomi-yaki and Kushkatsu. They are sometimes called the soul foods of Japan. Here is the brief
    explanation for these three foods.

    1) Tako-yaki
    Tako-yaki is a snack filled with pieces of octopus in a batter of flour , egg and soup stock. You can call them octopus dumplings or balls. “Tako” means
    octopus and “yaki” means grilled or broiled.
    2) Okonomi-yaki
    This word Okonomi-yaki means “cook just as you like” and you can use whatever you like as toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, squid and octopus.
    Okonomi-yaki is round shape and just like pancakes or pizza in shape mainly made from egg, flour and water.
    3) Kushi-katsu
    Kushi-katsu is skewered cutlet or deep-fried foods on a stick. “Kushi” means skewer and “katsu” means cutlet. Various kinds of foods are used for
    ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, octopus and lots of kinds of vegetables.

    Actually, the western Japan including Osaka, Kobe and Himeji is called as “Home of such local soul foods”. You should give it a try and I am sure
    that you like them very much.

    I sincerely hope that I can be your tour guide this time in Kobe, Osaka and Himeji. If my guests said to me after the tour, “I have had a very good

    Title: What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Higashi Gyoen, and Shibuya The guests were a very young group visiting from South America. Since I had heard they were fans of anime, I had planned to include Akihabara in the itinerary, but as they had already visited there the previous day, I added Shibuya instead. Because one of the guests preferred to avoid gluten, I took the group for lunch to a sushi restaurant in the Tawaramachi area that offers gluten-free soy sauce. A large group reservation happened to be there at the same time, so while we were able to have our meal, it was a bit noisy, which was a drawback. Even so, there is also a gluten-free bakery near this sushi restaurant, so personally I would like to use it again. The time spent at each spot was not long, but after visiting Higashi Gyoen I also guided the group around Marunouchi, and since the hotel was located in Nishi-Shinjuku, quite far from the Asakusa area, before I knew it a fair amount of time had passed. In the end, I saw them back to the hotel and we parted ways.

    I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.

    One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market.     What Is a Private Hiroshima and Miyajima Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting from North America. They had arrived in Osaka via Haneda on Sunday and came to Hiroshima on Tuesday. Up until the last moment, their online Shinkansen reservation had failed and the tickets had not been booked, so the meeting time could not be fixed precisely. The Shinkansen information came in the previous night, and we were able to meet without any trouble. Today it rained on and off, sometimes heavily, and since the guests did not have umbrellas, I lent them a spare umbrella I had brought. They were delighted with Shukkeien Garden and took many photos there. When I took them to a tsukemen restaurant for lunch, they liked it so much that they said they wanted to take the soup home with them. For the afternoon, they had booked a 3:00 PM tea ceremony experience tour on Miyajima, so I had told them about the World Heritage Sea Route from Peace Memorial Park, but because they had been unable to reserve the Shinkansen for so long, they had not remembered to reserve the World Heritage Sea Route. Just in case, I had reserved seats in advance, which they greatly appreciated. The Shinkansen information had not arrived, and I had reported this to the person in charge at [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), but we were able to complete the tour without any trouble.     What Is a Private Walking Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. Except for one, it was their first visit to Japan, and even that one had only been here once, fourteen years earlier, so for nearly all of them it was almost like a first visit. One of the guests had a high-end DSLR camera and was fond of architecture, taking photographs continuously throughout the day. Perhaps for this reason, the course became mainly a walking tour of the city, but everyone made a great effort to keep walking. After finishing at Kinkaku-ji at the end, we headed to the hotel in Arashiyama, but along the way there was a request to see a bamboo grove, so I took them there. We were able to finish almost exactly on schedule.

Some of the group had visited Nikko several times before, while it was a first visit for others. Although the forecast up until the previous day had suggested a chance of rain in the afternoon, the weather improved, and at Lake Chuzenji we were able to take commemorative photos at the best possible timing on the day. Since the group had expressed a wish to stop by a traditional craft shop, we visited a craft store, where they enjoyed a conversation with the shopkeeper. A taxi was arranged for the entire itinerary. As the group had visited Japan many times, they moved through the other stops fairly quickly and seemed keen to head to the inn to relax in the hot spring, so we finished a little earlier than scheduled.

    Guide Report: A Private Hiroshima Tour Starting a Japan Trip — What Is It Like With a Licensed Guide? The guests were visitors from North America. Many guests start their journey in Tokyo and travel south, so Hiroshima often falls near the end of their trip, but this time Hiroshima was the first day of sightseeing, so everything felt fresh, and they said they were happy that a guide could add a story to their travels. Because they had arrived in Hiroshima late the previous night and were likely still dealing with jet lag, there were moments during transit and while watching the testimony videos of atomic bomb survivors when they appeared sleepy. I spoke carefully about the story of the atomic bomb, and it was wonderful that there was mutual understanding and empathy.

    What's a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Day Tour Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. As the rainy forecast predicted, a light rain began just as we stepped off the ferry, and we visited the shrine in the rain. One of the guests carried a large backpack and took photos here and there with a single-lens reflex camera. They mentioned that they had visited Nara the day before. They listened attentively to the stories about the shrines and temples and asked many questions, so our conversation was lively. As the rain grew heavier, we took a short break to enjoy some momiji manju, and they bought a cherry-blossom-flavored version unique to this season as a souvenir. For lunch, they thoroughly enjoyed okonomiyaki, and remarked that now they would be able to compare it with Osaka-style okonomiyaki once they returned to Osaka. At the Peace Memorial Park, the rain finally eased, which was fortunate. We spent some time going through the museum. In particular, one of the guests appeared to have tears in their eyes, and although time was running short after we left the museum, we strolled slowly along the river to calm our hearts before heading to the station. They seem to have many enjoyable plans in other places, but their journey in Hiroshima also appears to have left a deep impression. At the station, they bought a bento and boarded the return Shinkansen. They said they would love to come back to Hiroshima in a different season and take their time exploring, and with that we concluded the tour.

    My name is Yuka Yoshida. I am a Hiroshima Government Licensed Guide Interpreter. I was born and raised in Tokyo. I lived in the U.K. and the U.S. for 10 years, when I had chances to travel different cities in those countries, as well as India, Ghana, Canada. I had wonderful experiences in different cultures and environments there. Since I moved to Hiroshima 18 years ago, I was intrigued by this city, especially Miyajima Island. I love outdoors and playing tennis. I started working as a tourist guide in 2024. I am passionate and enthusiastic about working as a guide, because it gives me enjoyable opportunities of meeting and talking with people and learning new things. I used to work in an elementary school for 13 years as an English teacher. It was a wonderland where classroom atmosphere changed every year so much. With this background, I am versatile to adapt myself to any situations and flexibly accommodate guest’s requests. As a guide, I frequently visit monuments in the Peace Memorial Park, including the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Museum, and the magnificent Itsukushima shrine on Miyajima Island.

    Let me tell you briefly about Hiroshima. Hiroshima prefecture is located in western Japan, facing the Seto Inland Sea to the south. There is a famous Japanese garden, Shukkeien Garden in the middle of the city. It was built as a garden for the villa of Nagaakira Asano, the lord of Hiroshima Castle during the early Edo period (1603-1868). You will be surprised to see how peaceful and relaxing the garden is when you browse there. It’s not a huge garden, but it presents a wonderful landscape of a traditional Japanese garden and different beautiful colors every season.

    Hiroshima prefecture is unique, having two World Heritage Sites.

    One of them is the Atomic Bomb Dome. As you can see, Hiroshima is a city of many attractions today, but it is also the place where the world’s first atomic bomb was used on August 6, 1945, near the end of the World War II. The atomic bombing destroyed Hiroshima City completely, killing approximately 140,000 people that was about 40 percent of Hiroshima’s population at that time by the end of 1945. You will be amazed at how the city of Hiroshima has been rebuilt since then. Our tour will visit the monuments in the Peace Memorial Park and provide you with rich information that you cannot find in any guidebook.

    By joining this visit, I am sure that you will better understand why the people of Hiroshima hope for the peaceful world so fervently.
    The other World Heritage Site is Itsukushima Shrine. The entire island of Miyajima is one of the three most beautiful scenic spots in Japan. It is a very popular tourist attraction in the Seto Inland Sea area which is also designated as a national park for its beauty. Itsukushima Shrine has a long history going back to the 6th century. It is very unique and outstanding architecture which attracted people from the ancient time. The shrine and the Big Gate, O-torii, are must-sees.

    Regarding food, Hiroshima offers delicious oysters. On Miyajima Island, you can enjoy shopping on the Omotesando street (a main street) which gives you opportunities to eat out, not only grilled oysters but also some local sweets, such as Momiji-manju (that is like a sponge cake sweets with a shape of maple leaf), lemon beverages and so on. Another delicacy is Okonomiyaki, savory pancakes with a lot of vegetables with your choice of numerous toppings which you should definitely try.

    What Can You See on a Private Full-Day Walking Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had arrived the previous day, and although one of the guests had not slept well due to jet lag, they said it would not affect their participation, so we began the tour. Since there was an origami museum near the meeting point, I asked whether they would like to visit even though it was not part of the original tour request, and we stopped by. At our first destination, Shinjuku Gyoen, they enjoyed the view of the double cherry blossoms in full bloom and the fresh greenery. Along the way we stopped at a donut shop at the request of one of the guests, then continued to Harajuku and Meiji Shrine. They listened attentively, asking questions about Japanese religion, Shinto, and the origins of Meiji Shrine. After that, we passed through the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and enjoyed a yakiniku lunch at the Marunouchi Building. We had planned to stop by Asakusa afterward, but as the guests were already fully satisfied, I guided them to Yushima Tenjin near the Hotel and we parted ways there. They told me that when they first arrived in Japan they were overwhelmed by how large a city Tokyo is, but through the tour, by experiencing its cultural and historical aspects and visiting actual sightseeing spots, they came to feel a sense of familiarity with it. They listened to my explanations with great interest, and it was very rewarding to guide them.

    What's a Private Guided Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, arriving in Hiroshima after traveling through Tokyo, Yokohama, Hakone, Takayama, Kanazawa, and Kyoto. I learned that they planned to enjoy Miyajima in the morning and then visit the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Museum on their own in the afternoon, so we talked about various things about Hiroshima while waiting for the Miyajima World Heritage Sea Route boat. After visiting the Great Torii Gate and Itsukushima Shrine, we took our time enjoying Omotesando Street in line with the guests' wishes. This was the first time I used the Hiroden streetcar to travel from Miyajimaguchi to the Atomic Bomb Dome. On JR trains, it is often difficult to find a seat, but although the Hiroden streetcar takes more time than JR, we could board at the starting point and be sure of getting a seat. In the relaxed atmosphere so characteristic of Hiroshima, I was able to talk a great deal about the city, and the guests were very pleased.
