    Title: What's a Private Nara Park Tour Like with a Licensed Guide? A Guide's Report The guests were a friendly group visiting Nara Park. Feeding the deer at Nara Park was enjoyed thoroughly not only by the younger members of the group but also by everyone else. Part of the group walked all the way from Todai-ji Temple to Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and then from Kasuga Taisha Shrine to Nara Station. As the guests preferred Western-style food, we had lunch with dishes such as omurice and curry. We ended the tour about an hour and a half earlier than planned, as the guests kindly suggested wrapping up early because I had sustained an injury at Nara Park. Not wanting to cause them any worry, I gratefully accepted their offer. I felt apologetic about it.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Family Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Some of the guests were visiting Japan for the first time, while others had been to Japan for sightseeing about twenty years earlier. They had arrived in Tokyo the day before the tour after transiting through another Asian city. Because they hoped to visit many places, we also used taxis to save time. For the first stop, the Imperial Palace, we took a taxi from the Hotel, but rather than using the taxi stationed at the Hotel, one of the guests wished to call an Uber using their own app. It was helpful that we were able to request a vehicle that could seat five people. They took many photos everywhere we went, but what the guests found especially exciting to see and experience were the piglet café on Takeshita Street, the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, and the Pepper Parlor, where robots work, located in Shibuya FUKURAS. They mentioned they had a reservation for teamLab Planets the next day. They were also unsure whether to visit Hakone or Kamakura. Since both are appealing destinations, I explained the distinctive features of each. The final stop of the tour was the entrance to the Tokyo Skytree observation deck, for which they had a reservation, but they expressed a wish to walk from Sumida Park in Asakusa to Tokyo Skytree, so we strolled along the "Sumida River Walk" under a refreshing blue sky, and they seemed to enjoy it very much.

    What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan, most of whom were coming to Japan for the first time. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they planned to travel to Kyoto, Osaka, and other destinations. At Nezu Shrine, they appeared deeply impressed by the azaleas in full bloom and the solemn atmosphere of the precincts. At Ueno Park, although unfortunately many of the cherry blossoms had already fallen, they were pleased to be able to see some of the remaining blossoms. At Sensoji Temple, they listened with great interest to explanations about the differences between temples and shrines. At the Imperial Palace, they appeared impressed by the vastness of the grounds. Since I attended to the guests' requests as they wished, I believe they were satisfied.

    Title: What Does a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, the Imperial Palace, Harajuku, and Shibuya The guests were visitors from North America. It was their first time in Japan. They had arrived at Narita Airport the previous evening and traveled to their hotel by the Narita Express and other transport. Their main trip included several destinations. After staying in Tokyo, they planned to visit Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, and then continue overseas from Kansai Airport as part of a longer international trip. The tour was conducted using a mix of English and Spanish. We enjoyed the tour under beautiful, clear skies. First, we went to Asakusa. The guests were absorbed in taking photos everywhere, and we spent a lot of time retaking shots throughout the tour. Despite the early hour, it was very crowded. I explained "Sensoji Temple and the history from Edo to Tokyo," "what a five-story pagoda is," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." There were questions such as "Do all Japanese people believe in Buddhism?" and "What about other religions?" The guests drew omikuji fortunes, and there was great excitement over the results. We strolled slowly through the Nakamise shopping street. We then moved to Tsukiji, which was very crowded. I explained "the history of the fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji Outer Market." We looked around various shops, and the guests especially enjoyed and purchased strawberry candy, grilled Kobe beef skewers, and tuna sushi to taste. There were questions such as "Why are there so many people here?" and comments like "This is the first time I have seen real wasabi," and "Do all Tokyo people come here to buy fish?" Next, we moved to the Imperial Palace. We strolled through the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace. The cherry blossoms had mostly fallen, which was a bit disappointing. I explained "the history from the Edo period to the Meiji era," "the Meiji Restoration," "why Edo Castle became the Imperial Palace," and "an overview of the current Imperial family." There were comments such as "The pine trees are beautiful, like bonsai," and questions such as "Does the Emperor of Japan hold political power?" After this, we moved to Harajuku, first visiting Meiji Shrine. I explained "about torii gates," "about Emperor Meiji," "the history of Edo and Tokyo," and "the Meiji Restoration." There was also a question such as "How many Christians are there in Japan?" We moved to Shibuya, which was very crowded even in the daytime. I explained "the history of Shibuya." We walked across the scramble crossing and took commemorative photos in front of the Hachiko statue. There were questions such as "Why are there so many people at the scramble crossing?" and "Are they all locals?" After this, the guests said they wanted to have chicken ramen (without pork) for lunch, so we went to a restaurant inside the Tokyu Food Show. There were comments and questions such as "The streets are clean with no litter," "There are no homeless people to be seen," and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" There were also comments such as "The trains and subways are clean and quiet, with no one chatting," and "The public restrooms are clean." The guests said they wanted to return to the hotel, so I saw them off at Ryogoku Station, and we parted ways.

    In the past, I was stationed in Canada, the United States, and Mexico as an expatriate of a Japanese bank for over 11 years.
    Since I have been mainly involved in the financing business in the United States for a long time, I think I am able to provide interpretation and translation services related to business and finance.
    I am a certified CPA in the United States.
    In addition, for three years from April 2016, I will be engaged in Japanese-English translation work (part-time), and I can also handle translation work.
    Although I don’t have a qualification in Spanish, but I think I can handle day to day conversation in Spanish without any problems.
    My hobby is trekking and from time to time, take a walk around mountains near Tokyo like Mt. Takao, Tanzawa, etc. I think it is possible to provide tourist information here as well.

    Title: What Is a Private Family Day Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The forecast called for bad weather all day, but there were some clear spells in the morning, so we were able to tour the Higashi Chaya District and Kanazawa Castle Park as planned without needing umbrellas. During the pre-tour discussion, the guests had requested places that would be enjoyable, so from 11:00 AM we visited the Ohno Karakuri Memorial Museum, where the group enjoyed karakuri puzzles and similar attractions. Nearby, at the Kanazawa Port Iki-iki Fish Market, they also tried rock oysters. At the Yamato Soy Sauce Park, where we stopped for lunch, they purchased miso, amazake, and cheesecake as souvenirs, and they even gave souvenirs to me and the driver. The weather turned bad in the afternoon, but the guests enjoyed themselves throughout.

    What Is a Private Day Trip to Koyasan from Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests wished to start early, so I picked them up at 7:30 to catch a train just after 8:00. On the way I talked about Kobo Daishi and Koyasan, and since the guests enjoyed photography, I chose a spot in the front car with good scenery, where they took many photos during the ride and kept clicking the shutter at Okunoin in Koyasan as well. At Kongobuji they photographed the rock garden and buildings, then we toured the Danjo Garan, and since we had time, we also went to take pictures of the Daimon Gate. I guided them along the Choishi-michi path in front of the Daimon Gate as well, and on the way back we smoothly caught the limited express to return to Namba without trouble. The guests said they wanted to visit Dotonbori, so I guided them there before we parted ways. The guests were particularly interested in art, and having seen the works of Hiroshi Senju—who painted the fusuma sliding-door paintings at Kongobuji—at Naoshima, they seemed very pleased.

    The town of Osaka offers a different atmosphere than Tokyo. I like both exciting Osaka and nature-filled Wakayama Prefecture.
    If you stay in Osaka for 3 days, you can go to Koyasan for one day, or even for a day trip, so I recommend sightseeing at Koyasan.

    What Is a 6-Hour Private Hakone Tour Like on a Windy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests waited at the hotel entrance while I waited in the hotel lobby, so the meeting ended up starting at 9:15, but I worked hard to make up for the delay, and in the end the tour finished on a fun note with a group photo taken by one of the guests. Due to strong winds, both the ropeway and the pirate ship were cancelled. However, we made substitutions with marquetry woodwork (yosegi), the cedar avenue, and the Hakone Open-Air Museum. We made full use of the 6 hours. It seemed that woodworking-related craft was part of the family's background, so the guests took great interest in the marquetry, took a photo with the workshop's president, and made a variety of purchases. The guests showed me photos of their home and told me that the natural surroundings there are much like Hakone, blessed with abundant nature. They said they would like to come again.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Nezu, Ueno, and Asakusa in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe, who had booked through a travel agency. Since their only requests were Nezu and Asakusa, I combined Nezu with Ueno and a short walk through Ameyoko. The azaleas at Nezu were already beautiful. The group seemed genuinely interested in Japan and asked many questions. For lunch we went for wagyu yakiniku, which they appeared to enjoy. We also made a spur-of-the-moment visit to Kappabashi, where they bought as many as three kitchen knives, but because they did not have their original passports with them, they were unable to receive the tax exemption. I mentioned that knives are sold in other places too, so there was no need to buy them here specifically, but they went ahead and purchased them anyway. The weather was lovely, and I believe they had a great time.

    Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Tenryu-ji The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first time in Japan, but they had studied beforehand and had a great deal of background knowledge. They were even familiar with traditional culture such as ukiyo-e woodblock prints and Noh theater. I took them to Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Tenryu-ji (including the Hyakka-en garden and the Sogenchi pond). During our visit to the Ninomaru Garden at Nijo Castle, we were caught by sudden rain, so we were unable to climb to the site of the honmaru castle walls and returned to the car. Some of the guests especially enjoyed Fushimi Inari, with one of them particularly liking the fox stone statues. Another was overwhelmed by the magnificent architecture of the Ninomaru Palace at Nijo Castle. One of the guests said the bamboo grove was their favorite.

The cherry blossoms at Osaka Castle had begun to fall. When I visited on April 11, it had been extremely crowded, but today we were able to enter smoothly. The weather at Osaka Castle in the morning was fine, but in the afternoon it rained on and off. In particular, when we arrived at Dotonbori, the rain grew heavier. I guided them through Dotonbori from the Sakaisuji side, and the tour ended in front of the Shinsaibashi shopping arcade.
