    What Is a Private Tokyo Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Asakusa, and Kappabashi Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. They travel abroad frequently, and after Tokyo they planned to continue to Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. We first visited Tsukiji. Since their main goal was to eat sushi at Tsukiji, after strolling around I took them to a sushi restaurant, where they thoroughly enjoyed delicious sushi. Next we visited Asakusa, where one of the guests was very keen on photography and took pictures from many different angles. Finally, I took them to Kappabashi and introduced a shop selling Japanese tableware, which they liked so much that they purchased five or six items.

    What Is a Private Miyajima and Itsukushima Shrine Tour in Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from South America on their second trip to Japan, though it was their first time in Hiroshima. Their itinerary this time went Tokyo → Mount Fuji → Osaka → Hiroshima → Kyoto → Tokyo. During the tour, one of the guests interpreted into Portuguese for the group. They enjoyed the great torii gate, Itsukushima Shrine, the five hundred rakan statues at Daisho-in Temple, the stone lanterns, and the scenery. Since they were not very hungry, we had ice cream for lunch. The ice cream at a coffee shop in Miyajima is delicious and highly recommended. The weather was lovely, and it was a pleasant day.

    What Is a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Koyasan Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who work at the same company. They had come to Japan several times before and visited many places, but this was their first time in Osaka and Koyasan. In the morning there was a complaint that the vehicle was different from the one requested, but the transportation company proactively switched it to a van. Due to the change, we departed from Namba about 30 minutes late, but arrived at the destination almost on schedule. At Okunoin, one of the guests became tired partway along the approach and turned back. When I asked whether they would like to do anything else since there was still time, they decided to see one more place before heading back, so we visited the Tokugawa Mausoleum and then began the return journey. On the way, the guests consulted me about wanting to buy tickets for the next part of their trip, so I helped them purchase tickets at Kitashinchi Station, and we parted ways at the hotel.

    What Does a Private Walking Tour of Tokyo (Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, Asakusa, Akihabara) Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group from Europe. Since they had purchased Suica cards in advance, we used the subway and JR lines depending on the location. From their list of preferred spots, we selected and visited Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa. We took a coffee break at Meiji Shrine, but the guests walked at a relatively fast pace and had finished their shopping by the previous day, so they did not shop this time, which had no major impact on our progress. As they had already visited Senso-ji Temple once in the rain, in Asakusa I mainly guided them around the shopping streets on the west side. After finishing the stroll through Asakusa, there still seemed to be time to spare, so I took them to Akihabara, which is on the way to the Ginza area where their hotel was located. As they belonged to a generation that had once been passionate about video games, this proved even more popular than expected. Finally, we parted ways on Ginza-dori, near the hotel.

    I was born in Tokyo and was raised in the suburbs of Tokyo called Tama area. When I was in university, I majored in western dramas, so I am good at playing like an actor.

    One of my strengths as a guide is that I know well about kombu, Japanese kelps. In December every year, I work at a traditional kombu shop in Tsukiji Fish Market.     Title: What's a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsukiji, Shibuya, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, and Asakusa The guests were a group visiting from North America. In advance they had requested "visits to basic locations," but since the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace are closed on Fridays, I avoided the Imperial Palace and proposed the Yanaka area instead. Around 6:00 on the morning of the tour, I received a message asking whether we could start at 9:00 or 9:30, but considering rush hour, I suggested keeping the planned 10:00 start, and the guests agreed. At the meeting point, I reconfirmed the itinerary and we headed to Tsukiji. One of the guests was interested in mitarashi dango, seeing it for the first time, and bought one skewer (500 yen at a shop in Tsukiji). After exploring the area, the guests said they would like to visit Tsukiji again on their free day tomorrow, and we moved on to Shibuya. I guided them at the crossing and then to Meiji Shrine. After the visit, they browsed the souvenir shops, and had lunch at a ramen restaurant in Omotesando. Since the guests enjoy shopping, I took them to Takeshita Street even though it was not originally planned. One of the guests liked "cute items" and examined various things at a capsule toy shop and accessory shops. Another guest was interested in vintage shops, so I also guided them through the Ura-Harajuku area and Cat Street. They visited a Ralph Lauren store and a clothing shop selling entirely handmade items remade from vintage garments. While heading toward the station through the back streets off Cat Street, one of the guests was drawn into a shop called FLOATS!. There they purchased one fluffy character keychain (fur keychains; 5,000–7,000 yen each), which was tax-free in the store. Since we had spent time shopping, we skipped the Yanaka area and went to Asakusa. I guided them around, and they said they would stay there until close to the evening. We parted ways with smiles in front of the main hall.

    What Is a Private Car Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Asakusa, Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara The guests were a group visiting from Asia. The tour was conducted using a car arranged by a friend of theirs living in Japan. The driver was not familiar with the roads in central Tokyo, so as the guide I helped input the destinations into Google Maps, and during pickup we coordinated the location using a messaging app. We visited Asakusa, Tsukiji, Meiji Shrine, Harajuku, Shibuya, and Akihabara. Regarding the Imperial Palace, I explained it from the car window along Uchibori-dori while on the way to Asakusa. Since travel by car went smoothly, I believe the guests were able to enjoy sightseeing and shopping at a relaxed pace at each location. Because we spent more time than planned in Harajuku and Shibuya, there was not enough time to shop fully in Akihabara, but the guests mentioned they would visit again during their stay.

    What Can You Do on a Half-Day Private Tour of Sapporo? A Licensed Guide's Report Despite the rainy weather, the guests had a clear goal of eating crab and seafood such as sea urchin, so we went to Nijo Market. Even though it was early in the morning, they had skipped breakfast for this occasion and thoroughly enjoyed the crab and sea urchin. Since they wanted to see historical buildings, we visited Hokkaido Shrine, where I explained the difference between shrines and temples, and we prayed while enjoying the cherry blossoms that still remained. On the way back, we stopped at a 100-yen shop, where they purchased a variety of souvenirs. They said they had a wonderful time. It was a short stay, but I was glad the guests enjoyed it.

It was the first visit to Japan for all of them, though one of the guests recalled staying in Tokyo for a few days about 35 years ago. This time they were on an extended trip to Japan. After staying in Tokyo for several days, they planned to visit Kanazawa, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka, then return to Tokyo before heading home. They had arrived at Haneda Airport the previous evening and strolled around Ginza that night. Although it was cloudy, we were able to complete the tour without any rain. We moved to Tsukiji. Despite the weather, it was extremely crowded with a large number of visitors. We first visited "Tsukiji Uogashi" and then went to the outer market. I explained "the history of the fish market since the Edo period" and "the difference between Toyosu Market and the Tsukiji outer market." There were also questions such as "Why are there so many people here?" and "Do all Tokyo residents come here to buy fish?" We strolled around at a relaxed pace. They bought and sampled matcha ice cream, fried sweet potato, and tuna sushi. We moved to the Kappabashi Kitchenware Street. We strolled around slowly. They seemed especially interested in "kitchen knives," entering several shops and examining various options. They also liked the "food samples" and bought a small magnet sushi sample. Then we went to Asakusa. As always, it was very crowded. I explained "the history of Sensoji Temple and how Edo developed into Tokyo," "what a five-story pagoda is," "what Buddhism is," and "the difference between Buddhism and Shinto." We took commemorative photos in front of the Kaminarimon Gate and the five-story pagoda. There were questions such as "How many Buddhists are there in Japan?", "What other religions do people believe in?", and "How often do people who believe in Buddhism go to temples?" We strolled slowly through the Nakamise shopping street. One of the guests bought a hat "because it was hot," though it took quite a long time to finally decide on one. They were interested in Japanese convenience stores, so we entered one, where they bought "tsukimi daifuku," "onigiri," and ice cream. There were also comments and questions such as "It's so quiet inside the subway," "Japanese people are all quiet and polite," "The streets are clean and there is no litter," and "Why are there no trash cans on the streets?" After this, since they were going to visit Skytree, I saw them off at the entrance of Skytree and we parted ways.

    Since April 2015, I have been working as a Tokyo Metropolitan Tourism Volunteer and Tokyo Metropolitan Disaster Prevention Volunteer.
    One more, I have a separate house near Asuka Village, Nara prefecture, and I stay there for a total of about 30 days every year and have been enjoying sightseeing personally in the vicinity. Therefore, I think in the Kansai region, especially in Nara, Asuka, Yoshino, Koyasan, Kumano Kodo, etc., where I think I will be able to tour guide with confidence.

    Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Since rain was forecast, we visited Miyajima in the morning. The guests had been looking forward to Japanese food very much, so I took them to a local restaurant, where they said they were very satisfied that it was delicious and much cheaper than in places like Tokyo. I helped them have their names engraved on chopsticks, which they were very happy about. They also tried freshly baked momiji manju and were pleased. In the afternoon, the rain became heavier, so I guided them only through the museum and then accompanied them by taxi to the cruise ship. The guests were very cheerful, and there was plenty of laughter throughout the tour.

We first went to Meiji Shrine, and when I showed them the proper manners for purification and prayer, they promptly bought an omamori charm. They had checked out the animal cafe on Takeshita Street in Harajuku in advance through social media. As we explored the Tsukiji Outer Market, they grew hungry, and we ended up having lunch at a long-established sushi restaurant in Ginza, where they were moved by how delicious it was.
