タイトル: Can You Do a Private Day Trip from Tokyo to Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from North America, and this was their first time in Japan. They arranged a one-day trip to Kyoto as part of their travels while based in Tokyo. Based on the weather forecast, I had prepared for very rough conditions, but the rain was not as heavy as expected. Although it was hot and humid, we were able to proceed with the tour without getting too wet. I took them to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Sanjusangendo, and Fushimi Inari Shrine. Unfortunately, one of the guests slipped on the stairs at Kiyomizu-dera and got their clothes wet, which seemed to be quite a shock. I had advised them to be careful because it was slippery due to the rain, but the fall still happened. Fortunately, there did not appear to be any injury, and the tour continued to the end. Perhaps I should have given a stronger warning. I felt sorry that this happened during such a special trip. The guests said that the 1,001 statues of the thousand-armed Kannon at Sanjusangendo were their favorite. After the tour, they had a restaurant reservation near Kodai-ji Temple, so I took them to the nearby Gion-Shijo area, where we ended the tour and said our goodbyes.
