What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Osaka's Historical and Cultural Sites? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America who arrived in Osaka early in the morning on the day of the tour by cruise ship. Since they planned to visit Osaka Castle on their own the following day, they wished to leisurely explore other historical and cultural sites in the city. They shared that since retiring they had been traveling to various countries while maintaining a very healthy daily lifestyle, so during the tour I was a little concerned that we might be walking too much. However, as their ship was scheduled to depart the following evening for North America and they would be at sea for several days afterward, they said they wanted to walk around the city as much as possible. Although they mentioned they usually skip lunch, during a break they enjoyed some beer and a little tempura, and continued walking energetically.

    • 16:00 Tour ends at Otemachi Station

What Is a Private Walking Tour of Asakusa and Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report I was able to guide the group smoothly along the route and schedule we had confirmed in advance. Since the guests' accommodation was in Asakusa, I began the tour from Asakusa. It happened to coincide with the Sanja Matsuri festival, so I had expected considerable crowds, but because it was in the morning the congestion was not yet too severe, and we were lucky to be able to see the festival's portable shrines and other sights. The guests were friends visiting from North America, both intellectually curious people, and I received a continuous stream of various questions from each of them, making it a genuinely challenging and rewarding tour for me as a guide. We were also blessed with good weather, and overall I think it was a wonderful tour.

Title: What's a Private Osaka Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Tsutenkaku, Osaka Castle, and Dotonbori The guests were visitors from Asia. They appeared to get along very well, and I guided them throughout in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. In the Shinsekai area, they considered going up Tsutenkaku Tower, but upon seeing the long line they decided against it and focused on taking commemorative photos instead. After that, we headed to Osaka Castle, but due to the crowds there as well, they only took photos of the exterior. Finally, at Dotonbori, they visited drugstores and other shops and enjoyed choosing souvenirs. Although the time was limited, it seemed they were able to fully enjoy the city of Osaka.

Title: What Is a Private Yanagawa River Cruise Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Because I was unable to reach the guests until just before the tour and did not know the details of their situation, I prepared for several possible scenarios and checked the routes, which meant that the background research and inquiries took quite a lot of time. Also, since we went to the river cruise without a reservation, we had to line up and wait for more than thirty minutes. One of the reasons for the wait seemed to be a shortage of boatmen. It appears that not all of the boatmen who left during the COVID period have returned yet, and while the town had not fully regained its former liveliness, it felt as though inbound visitors made up about seventy percent of the visitors. Today, since the guests were moving to Osaka in the evening, they had left their luggage at the hotel, so we went back to pick it up on the way. One of the guests had previously worked in Fukuoka, so Fukuoka was familiar to them, but it was their first time visiting Yanagawa, and they were delighted, saying it was a beautiful town.

Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first trip to Japan, and they were traveling around Tokyo, the Tohoku region, the Kansai area, and Hiroshima. In the morning, a little rain had been forecast, but it did not rain at all, and the weather was perfect for exploring on foot. However, since strong winds and high waves were predicted, we had planned to use a high-speed boat from Miyajima to the Peace Park, but with the guests' prior agreement, we changed to a ferry, JR, and the streetcar instead. Afterward, one of the guests told me they get seasick easily and were glad we switched to the train, which made me realize that when planning an itinerary, I should check in advance whether guests are prone to seasickness.

Hi! My name is Kazuhisa To. I was born in Nagasaki Prefecture and spent a total of approximately 17 years there. After graduating from university and completing graduate school, I moved to Hiroshima in 1984. Hiroshima has been my home base for more than 42 years, including approximately five and a half years during which I was posted to Germany and the United States. I worked as an engineer at Mazda Motor Corporation for 40 years. While working at Mazda, I earned a Ph.D. in Engineering through a doctoral program designed for working professionals at a national university. During the final five years of my career at Mazda, I was assigned to Hiroshima University, where I served as a Specially Appointed Professor and Deputy Director of a research center. In this role, I led the development of the center’s organizational and operational framework and advanced more than 20 industry–university collaborative research projects across four major research programs, contributing to regional revitalization. Living in Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Germany, and the United States has deepened my appreciation for the distinct histories and cultures of different regions and broadened my international perspective. Drawing on these experiences, I strive to offer tours that allow guests from around the world to feel comfortable and relaxed while enjoying a genuinely engaging experience. After retiring from Mazda at the end of March 2024, I embarked on a new chapter in my life as a licensed local guide in Hiroshima. In addition to renowned destinations such as Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Miyajima, I am delighted to introduce guests to Hiroshima’s history, culture, natural beauty, local cuisine, and everyday life, tailoring each tour to their individual interests and preferences. It is my sincere hope that every guest will enjoy a truly personal and memorable experience while discovering the authentic spirit of Hiroshima. I very much look forward to welcoming you to Hiroshima!

On Miyajima, I took them to sites including Daisho-in Temple, and since the rain was light, the ground was not slippery and they were able to walk and sightsee comfortably. At the museum, there were many visitors that day and it was crowded, but because I had recommended the audio guide, they said it was excellent that they could understand the exhibits well without having to read the panel descriptions. Overall, the guests appeared to be very satisfied with the tour.

For lunch, they enjoyed okonomiyaki, which they seemed to savor. Title: Can You Do a Private Kyoto Day Trip from Osaka by Train and Taxi? A Licensed Guide's Report Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. The tour was originally planned to use public transportation, but after meeting them and hearing their wishes, since one member of the group was not feeling very well, they asked to travel between Osaka and Kyoto by train and to sightsee within Kyoto city by taxi, so I carried out the tour that way. However, as the temperature gradually rose around midday, they seemed to grow tired, and they said they wished to return to Osaka once Nijo Castle was finished. I saw them off at the taxi stand at JR Osaka Station, and although it was earlier than planned, we parted ways there.

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They showed great respect for one another and were a wonderful, close-knit group to guide. Some of the guests preferred to walk at a slower pace than usual, so we took our time throughout the sightseeing. We visited Miyajima in the morning and the Peace Memorial Park in the afternoon. The weather was fine and pleasant, and the guests appeared very satisfied with their visits to Itsukushima Shrine and the Peace Memorial Park. At the end, they wished to explore the museum thoroughly at their own pace, so we parted ways at the entrance to the museum.

What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Peace Park Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting Japan. In Miyajima they enthusiastically took many photos. For lunch I guided them to a restaurant, which they enjoyed very much. At the Peace Memorial Museum, they were interested in the political background surrounding the atomic bomb. However, it was more crowded than expected, so I think they may not have been able to view the exhibits at a leisurely pace. After the Peace Park, they wished to have matcha sweets, so I guided them to a shop, after which they did some shopping.

Hi, I’m Kahori, a nationally licensed tour guide, and delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors.
Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called “art islands” which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival “Setouchi Triennale”. In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers.
I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!
