What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari and Kinkaku-ji The guests visited Japan from North America. They were a consistently cheerful group whom I found myself wanting to support. They said "We'll follow you" to me many times. At Fushimi Inari, they wrote a wish on an ema votive plaque, so it seemed they were hoping for a child. It was a little cloudy, but there was no wind, making it good weather for sightseeing. The guests took many photos and videos throughout the day. They were also enthusiastic about shopping and purchased a goshuin seal stamp at Kinkaku-ji. They were surprised to see a small elementary school child riding the bus and subway alone. After Kinkaku-ji, I guided them to Yasaka Pagoda in the Higashiyama area, where the tour concluded. The photo was taken at Fushimi Inari.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.

What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Gion, and Fushimi Inari Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania. They were traveling through Tokyo and Hakone, and after Kyoto they were also planning to visit Hiroshima. They were surprised at how crowded Kinkaku-ji was, but Gion was not as busy, so we were able to explore it at a relaxed pace. They mentioned it was a shame that it was not cherry blossom season. Along the way, we took a break at Gion Tsujiri, where they enjoyed some matcha ice cream. After that, we headed to Fushimi Inari Taisha. For some reason, this place also had fewer people than usual, so I was glad they could enjoy it at a leisurely pace. They were delighted to be able to take photos of just themselves at the Senbon Torii. I believe they truly enjoyed the day.

    Tokyo Customized Full-Day Private Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 9:00 Meet at the Hotel Ginza in Ginza – Ginza – Korakuen – 9:50~11:00 Koishikawa Korakuen – Suidobashi – Kanda – 11:40 Asakusa
    • Lunch @ Aoi-Marushin – Sensoji Temple – 13:40 Tobu Asakusa Station – Tokyo Skytree Station – 14:00~15:15 Tokyo Skytree
    • – Oshiage – 15:50 Shibuya – Crossing – Center Street – Spain Slope – Koen-dori – 17:00 Disband at Ginza Line Shibuya Station

【タイトル】 What Is a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Koishikawa Korakuen, Asakusa, Skytree, and Shibuya 【本文】 The guests were a group visiting from Europe. Based on their requests, I selected Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree, and Shibuya. They were very pleased with Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, though it had some slopes and inclines that made parts of it a bit challenging for one of the guests, so I was relieved that we managed to get through it safely. After that, we headed to Asakusa. They had been in a relaxed mood, remarking how quiet it felt despite being in the city, but the atmosphere completely changed at Asakusa. It happened to be the day of the Asakusa Sanja Matsuri festival, and the area was incredibly lively. Many mikoshi (portable shrines) were out, carried by large crowds, creating a very energetic scene that the guests seemed to thoroughly enjoy. After that, they took in Tokyo Skytree and the Solamachi shopping complex, and then we moved on to our final stop, Shibuya. As it turned out, Shibuya was also holding a festival that day, so we crossed the Shibuya Crossing amid even more excitement than usual, walked a loop around the Shibuya area, and then I saw them off at the Ginza Line's Shibuya Station before parting ways. I believe they enjoyed the day. The tour was arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures.

Hello! I am Kyoko who has been working as a guide since 2017. I was born in Kyoto. So, my name comes from Kyoto which is Japan’s beautiful ancient capital . And “ko” literally means child in Japanese. Thus, my name Kyoko means Kyoto’s child, Kyoko. But some guests call me Kyoto. It’s okay, not a big problem.
But to say the truth, I feel like this, ” Am I like an ancient person? No way~!!…” I am mainly guiding in and around Tokyo. Tokyo has two faces of well-advanced and old-fashioned. So, you can enjoy both high-tech technology and historical culture plus delicious food and drinks, too. You will surely be inspired in this city with me. Anyway, looking forward to meeting you in the near future. Thank you in advance!

Title: What's a Private Osaka Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinsekai, Sumiyoshi Taisha, and Namba The guests were a lovely group from North America, with genuine curiosity and a warm, friendly manner. Since one of the guests had strained their back the day before, I paid careful attention to rest stops and to how we moved between locations. For lunch they wished to try okonomiyaki, so we enjoyed it at a shop full of the atmosphere of Shinsekai. They filmed a video of the katsuobushi (bonito flakes) moving on top. At Sumiyoshi Taisha, one of the guests mostly stayed seated while another went around taking photos and exploring on their behalf. I had planned a route from Nankai Namba Station through Sennichimae, Kuromon, and Dotonbori, but the guests took a great liking to the Takashimaya department store at Namba Station and spent the rest of their time there until departure. They said it was the most wonderful place in the world.

Hi! Thank you for choosing us. I am very glad to be assigned as your guide, and to help you have a good time in Japan. While you are in Japan, I would like you to try some sweets (if you are allowed by the doctor, of course). There are so many kinds, but among them, I would like to recommend Ice cream, even in autumn or winter (enjoyable in a warm room). Have you ever tried a kind of ice cream, which is called Soft Cream in Japan? It’s much softer and creamier than usual ice cream, and sold in many varieties of flavor. Matcha flavour ones are easily found, or chocolate ones, but also they sell local flavors to boost the sales of their local products. To name some, delicious fruit flavours such as yuzu (citrus) or grapes, or strange ones with wasabi (a bit spicy and fragrant) or miso (usually used for salty soups, but tastes like caramel when it is sweetened). Shaved ice is good, too. I have an ice shaving machine in my house, but I wouldn’t bring it to a tour. I look forward to seeing you and helping you enjoy your day in Japan!

Title: What Can You See on a Private Tour of Shizuoka? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kunozan Toshogu, Ropeway, and Miho no Matsubara Body: At the ropeway landing, the guests shared interesting knowledge about the medicinal properties and fragrance of the large camphor tree there. They were deeply impressed by the beauty of the Toshogu Shrine. They showed great interest in Ieyasu's handprint, his beloved horse, and the reversed family crest of the Tokugawa family, and I felt glad to have guided them. The 10-minute round-trip ropeway ride let them enjoy both the thrill and the fascinating explanations of the surrounding scenery. We then headed to the Kashi no Ichi riverside market, where the guests were overwhelmed by the impressive Tuna Hall and savored fresh fish, before making our way to Miho no Matsubara. Unfortunately, Mount Fuji could not be seen, but the guests thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent grove of pine trees.

Toyosu Tuna Auction & Tsukiji Local Food Tour

    Tour Itinerary

    • 4:45 Meet at the hotel. While waiting for the taxi to arrive, talk about the relationship between Toyosu Market and Tsukiji Market.
    • 5:20 Arrive at Toyosu Dormitory. Since the customer for the wipe-down used a wheelchair, we followed a completely barrier-free route.
    • Explain how the auction is conducted, etc.
    • 6:50 Arrive at Tsukiji Market by taxi. Have the customer taste tamagoyaki, grilled wagyu beef, grilled eel, and more.
    • 7:45 Tour ends at the customer's request. Received words that it was very informative.

Title: What's a Private Tsukiji Market Food Tour in Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from North America. As some of the guests joined by wheelchair, I selected and guided them through barrier-free areas, which they were very pleased with. We were also fortunate enough to see a tuna cutting demonstration at a seafood shop, and they joked that the only thing they had not seen was a tuna fishing boat, which they found very satisfying. The guests wished to enjoy street food at Tsukiji Market, so they tasted tamagoyaki (rolled omelet), grilled wagyu beef, and eel. They also asked where they could buy a kitchen knife, so I explained that they could purchase one at Tsukiji itself, and that good-quality knives are also available at a knife shop in the area.

Hello!! My name is Mami. I was born and raised in Tokyo. I enjoy watching Japanese baseball games. I became a Certified guide in 2020. After the Pandemic, I resumed my guiding work in earnest, conducting approximately 80 tours in 2023 and over 100 tours in 2024. Please feel free to ask me anything about Tokyo! Not only information about tourist attractions, but I also love to eat, so I can suggest various restaurants! I live in an area called Yanesen, and the Yanesen area and Asakusa are my go-to walking areas. I also love exploring markets and discovering delicious restaurants at places like Toyosu Market and Tsukiji Market. Why don’t you come with me and walk through the small alleys that only the residents know about? I’m cheerful and can get along with anyone. Let’s have a fun trip together!

Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Highlights Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. As it was their first day in Kyoto, they were quite excited. They had requested the highlights, so I arranged some of the most famous sights, and I believe they were satisfied with all of them. In particular, they had been looking forward to the rock garden at Ryoan-ji Temple, and we were able to spend plenty of time there. I took the guests to a restaurant that could accommodate their needs, and they were very satisfied with the quality of the food.

Thanks for joining our tour. I’m Hiro Nakagawa, assigned to be your guide for this tour. I was eligible as a National Licensed Tour Guide in 2017. I have guided many tourists from overseas since then. Japan is a beautiful country with full of various attractions. Please enjoy your time in this country to the fullest. I will help you with that. What are you interested in this country? I will introduce this country’s long history, traditional culture, beautiful seasonal highlights, and delicious food to you. Please let me know your preferences. If it’s other than which I mentioned, I’m preparing it for you as much as possible. Let’s enjoy the trip together!

Title: What Can You See on a Private Day Tour of Kyoto? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. Since they were coming from Tokyo by Shinkansen, we arranged to meet at the ticket gate of Kyoto Station. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private tour of Kyoto, taking the guests to Fushimi Inari Taisha and Arashiyama. At Fushimi Inari, I explained the meaning of the torii gates, the different types of shrines, and how shrines differ from temples. We then moved on to Arashiyama, where we had lunch at a restaurant. The guests enjoyed their meal while comparing it with the English menu. We entered Tenryuji Temple through the bamboo grove, where they enjoyed the seasonal flowers and the beautiful garden. After crossing the Togetsukyo Bridge and passing through Hankyu Arashiyama, we finished by walking through Nishiki Market, ending the tour at a bar the guests had been recommended by a friend.

They traveled by cruise ship, visiting Tokyo, Hakone, and Kyoto, with Osaka as their final stop before returning by cruise ship. Since some of the guests were feeling tired from the journey and had a sore foot, we slowed the pace of the sightseeing. At Shitennoji Temple, which was founded more than 1,400 years ago, we explored the history of Japanese Buddhism, and we discussed the differences from Shinto as well as Japanese views on religion. In Shinsekai, Kuromon Market, and Dotonbori, the atmosphere of the town changed completely, and as it was a Sunday full of tourists, the guests were overwhelmed by the lively energy of the area. Hello, This is Shige. I was born and brought up in Osaka. I have been enjoying working as a tour guide since 2016 after retired from a manufacturing company in which I worked at the overseas department. So I experienced a lot of business with customers in Europe, Asia, Australia, and USA where my three years of living and working at the subsidiary company with my family was the most amazing experience of my life. Well, Japan has a long history including ancient remains, historic buildings and cultures at each period over 2000 years. I hope you will enjoy exploring Japan in this tour. I look forward to seeing you soon.
    Shige.

Title: What's a Private Tokyo Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, and Harajuku The guests were a group of friends visiting Japan from North America for a trip of about ten days. They had arrived just the day before, and had gone out for drinks in Golden Gai the previous evening. Everyone was interested in history and listened attentively to the explanations. At the Imperial Palace, they not only toured buildings such as the turrets and guardhouses, but also bought souvenirs at the rest area, enjoyed some ice cream, and took photos, admiring the beautiful carp in the Japanese garden. Afterward, we went to Meiji Shrine, where they performed the purification ritual and offered their prayers. A wedding ceremony happened to be taking place, and the whole group watched it together. They remarked that the food in Japan was inexpensive and delicious. We then went to Takeshita Street, after which we parted ways. In the afternoon they planned to head to Asakusa to enjoy the Sanja Festival. It was a very cheerful and sincere group.
