    Title: What Is a Private Tokyo Tour Like? Tsukiji, Ryogoku, Skytree, Asakusa, and Tokyo Tower with a Licensed Guide This was the second day of a two-day tour. Before heading to Tsukiji, the group visited the Kabukiza Theatre, then took photos while being surprised by the (India-inspired) appearance of Tsukiji Hongwanji, before moving on to the outer market. The guests were not particularly interested in shopping or street food, so we looked around briefly and finished there. On the way toward the Asakusa area, we got off at the Ryogoku Kokugikan. We talked about sumo and took photos. One of the guests had seen sumo abroad, so the conversation was lively. On the way to Tokyo Skytree, the driver Nino kindly pointed out the best spot, and we were able to take truly wonderful photos. Today again we were blessed with a great driver who helped us in many situations and added thoughtful touches, providing hospitality that could not have been better for the guests. At the Skytree observation deck and gallery, the guests looked at everything intently from end to end. It was cloudy, so I was worried about the view, but I was glad they could enjoy the beautiful scenery. At Senso-ji Temple, they listened seriously to talks about the lantern, Buddhism, and omikuji fortunes. Afterward, we had a late lunch at a soba restaurant in Asakusabashi. Nino joined us as well, and we enjoyed a delicious tempura seiro while chatting about many things — a truly pleasant time. One of the guests even took on the "anago tempura seiro"! It was their first time eating conger eel, and they said it was delicious. Today as well, I felt their respect for Japan and Japanese culture in many moments. At Tokyo Tower, thanks to Nino's idea, we were able to take wonderful photos, which I believe made for a truly good memory for the guests. I saw them off to the Hotel, greeted them, took photos together… and it was sad to say goodbye. Finally, in an email from the guests, it was written, "Please be sure to quote this message in your report," so with their kind permission… "This was the best private tour we have ever experienced. Ryoko san and our drivers, Goto san and Ninomiya san, showed us so many sights and regaled us with more history than we could have hoped! We could not be happier." It was an unforgettable two days for me as well. I am truly grateful for the wonderful opportunity to feel the spirit of a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Thank you so much.

In Shibuya, they enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the district. The move to Asakusa served as a good break, and they thoroughly enjoyed Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa Shrine. Since they wished to have lunch together, we enjoyed a meal together at a garden restaurant. After lunch, we parted ways there. A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is one of the most visited temples in Japan. Visitors approach the temple through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) with its massive red lantern, followed by Nakamise-dori, a bustling shopping street lined with stalls selling traditional snacks and souvenirs. Adjacent to the temple stands Asakusa Shrine, a Shinto shrine that reflects the historic coexistence of Buddhism and Shinto in Japan. The area remains one of the best places to experience the atmosphere of old Tokyo.

    Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: This was the first day of a two-day tour. I met the guests at their hotel and we set off in a private car. The guests were visitors from North America, on their first trip to Japan. Since they were starting a cruise the day after next, they wanted to sightsee around the city beforehand. I planned the itinerary carefully so that we could see the highlights efficiently over the two days, combining stops for photos with places to explore on foot. One of the guests was very knowledgeable about Japan and had long been interested in the Budokan, Hachiko, and the Shibuya scramble crossing. Another had been studying a little Japanese before the trip and used "arigato" whenever the occasion arose. Both showed a genuine respect for Japan and its people throughout. At Meiji Shrine, when I spoke about the Japanese view of religion, they understood it very well. At the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku, they took in the view enthusiastically from end to end. The driver was very cooperative and made sure we could get out of the car for photos as much as possible rather than just viewing from the windows, so I was able to give explanations on foot and the guests were delighted to take photos in many places. Rain had been forecast from the morning, but it only began to sprinkle as we finished our stroll together through the East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, so we were fortunate with the weather during the tour. I would like to thank today's driver for many thoughtful touches, such as playing music performed on traditional Japanese instruments as background music in the car.

    Title: What Is a Private Nakasendo Day Trip from Kyoto to Magome and Tsumago Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from Europe on a round-trip day tour from Kyoto. As it rained throughout the morning, they walked wearing the ponchos I had prepared and using their own umbrellas. Even so, they enjoyed themselves, stopping to take photos at key points along the way. Both of them walked quickly, so we arrived at Tsumago earlier than planned. They finished their lunch completely and seemed very satisfied. Since we had about an hour before the bus, we visited the souvenir shops and they did some shopping. After that, we had a pleasant chat over various topics at a cafe. Until the previous day, heavy rain had suspended the Chuo Line, and I had received a message of concern from the guests, but today it ran normally, so everything went smoothly. Although the weather was unfortunate, I believe they were satisfied. A notable stop on the tour was Tsumago, one of the best-preserved post towns along the historic Nakasendo route that once connected Kyoto and Edo (present-day Tokyo). Tsumago is known for its beautifully maintained wooden buildings and traditional streetscape, where vehicles and modern signage are kept out of sight to preserve the Edo-period atmosphere. Together with the neighboring town of Magome, it offers visitors a chance to walk a scenic mountain trail and experience the feel of old Japan.

Unfortunately the weather was not on our side, and the tour began with rain forecast for the entire day. However, since they had grown tired of the crowds in Tokyo up to the previous day, they responded very positively to the quietness of the Hakone area itself, saying it was "very peaceful and calming," and enjoyed it thoroughly. At both Owakudani and the Lake Ashi cruise, the scenery was almost completely obscured, but they listened attentively to explanations about the history of volcanic formation. They were very satisfied with a seafood lunch, and were impressed by yosegi marquetry woodwork, purchasing a great deal. The last place we visited, Choan-ji Temple, delighted them especially, and they thanked me, saying, "Thank you for bringing us here." Despite the poor weather, I feel it turned out to be a good day. A notable stop on the tour was the Lake Ashi cruise in Hakone. Lake Ashi is a scenic crater lake formed by volcanic activity thousands of years ago, and it is one of the most iconic spots in the Hakone area. On clear days, the lake offers views of Mount Fuji, and sightseeing cruise boats, including replica pirate ships, carry visitors across the water while passing the vermilion torii gate of Hakone Shrine that stands at the lakeshore.

    What Is a Private Yokohama Chinatown Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America, coming to Japan for the first time. They had come to Japan to board a cruise ship. They had requested a simple tour from their hotel to Chinatown only, and had also let me know in advance that they wished to take a break every 15 to 20 minutes. Because of this, we discussed the itinerary thoroughly by email beforehand and planned accordingly. The destinations were a teahouse and a dim sum restaurant, and since we moved slowly with breaks along the way, the pace worked out perfectly. While strolling through Chinatown, they spotted a fortune-telling shop and said they wanted to try it, so we went in on the spot. They had their palms read in English and were delighted. After taking photos at places such as the Kanteibyo Temple, we headed to the first destination, a Chinese teahouse. They were very pleased with the authentic Chinese tea experience. I was also grateful that the shop staff kindly helped as we went down from the second floor to the first floor. After that, we went to a dim sum restaurant and ordered a variety of à la carte dishes to enjoy together. Everything was exceptionally delicious, and they seemed thoroughly satisfied, and they were charmed by the warm and refined service of the staff. After a wonderful lunch, we made our way back to the hotel slowly, taking breaks along the way as before. Though it was a short time, we were able to share many thoughts, and I was truly happy and grateful to have spent this day together. Thank you for a wonderful day.

At Senso-ji Temple, they were fascinated by explanations about the differences between temples and shrines, as well as the Kaminarimon Gate. In Akihabara, they showed strong interest in the many shops dedicated to anime and games. Since I responded to the guests' requests as they wished, I believe they were satisfied. A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. Visitors enter through the iconic Kaminarimon Gate, with its enormous red lantern, and pass along Nakamise-dori, a lively shopping street lined with traditional snacks and souvenir stalls leading up to the main hall.

    What Is a Private Kyoto and Uji Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. As they had visited temples before, they seemed to have some prior knowledge of Buddhism. I explained Japanese culture, history, and religion. They mentioned that they often drink matcha both in Japan and back home. I explained how Japanese tea is prepared and the differences between the various types. Although it rained all day, they seemed to really enjoy the beauty of Byodo-in Temple. After the tour, they said they would stay in Uji to try various kinds of tea. They had also visited Kinkaku-ji, so I explained the differences between the gardens. A notable stop on the tour was Byodo-in Temple in Uji. Byodo-in is a Buddhist temple originally built in 1052, and its Phoenix Hall is one of the most iconic examples of Heian-period architecture in Japan. The temple is so celebrated that its image appears on the Japanese ten-yen coin, and the graceful phoenix statues adorning the roof give the hall its name. Surrounded by a serene reflecting pond, the temple is considered a representation of the Buddhist Pure Land, and it remains one of the most treasured cultural landmarks in the Uji area.

    What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour with a Licensed Guide Like? A Guide's Report The guests were visiting Japan from North America. It was the first visit to Japan for part of the group, while another had come for work nearly thirty years earlier. One of the guests remarked, "There are far more foreign tourists now than back then. The increase in English signage and guidance is very convenient." They had come to Kyoto from Tokyo the day before, but they had reportedly encountered rain the whole way, and in Hakone they could not even see Mount Fuji. The weather looked uncertain today as well, but we were lucky that it did not rain at all. It was wonderful that we could see Kinkaku-ji clearly. As expected, school excursion students are increasing everywhere, making the sites more crowded. At the end of the tour, I was delighted when the guests told me, "It was great to be able to learn about Japanese history through today's tour." The photo was taken at Kinkaku-ji Temple. A notable stop on the tour was Kinkaku-ji Temple. Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto's most famous Zen Buddhist temples, and its top two floors are covered in gold leaf. Originally built as a retirement villa for a shogun in the late 14th century, it was later converted into a temple and reflects beautifully on the surrounding pond, making it one of the most iconic and photographed sights in all of Japan.

    What Is a Private Naoshima Art Island Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guest was a person living in Kyoto who had come from South America. This person also works as a guide for inbound visitors in Kyoto and had come to Naoshima in order to be able to advise on Naoshima tours in the future. The guest mentioned being very fond of Kyoto. On this occasion, some other members of the group had also come to Naoshima together, and while I guided only the guest around the museums, we all had lunch together at the Chichu Art Museum. Since the guest is an active guide, they understood a guide's perspective very well and thoughtfully made the day easy to guide throughout. We were caught in some rain from the autumn rain front at one point, but overall it was not heavy, which was fortunate. A notable stop on the tour was the Chichu Art Museum on Naoshima. Designed by architect Tadao Ando, the museum is built mostly underground to preserve the natural landscape of the island, while still allowing natural light to illuminate the artworks inside. It houses a small but remarkable permanent collection, including works by Claude Monet, and is one of the highlights of Naoshima, an island in the Seto Inland Sea widely known for its blend of contemporary art, architecture, and nature.
