Title: What Is a Private One-Day Tokyo Tour of Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from Europe. It was their first time in Japan, and they mentioned they would continue traveling to other parts of Asia afterward. They requested Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa as their destinations. At Meiji Shrine, we also stopped by the Inner Garden, and they were deeply impressed by the beautiful landscaped grounds. At Meiji Shrine, they drew omikuji fortunes and were very delighted. In Shibuya, they enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the district. The move to Asakusa served as a good break, and they thoroughly enjoyed Senso-ji Temple and Asakusa Shrine. Since they wished to have lunch together, we enjoyed a meal together at a garden restaurant. After lunch, we parted ways there.
A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is one of the most visited temples in Japan. Visitors approach the temple through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) with its massive red lantern, followed by Nakamise-dori, a bustling shopping street lined with stalls selling traditional snacks and souvenirs. Adjacent to the temple stands Asakusa Shrine, a Shinto shrine that reflects the historic coexistence of Buddhism and Shinto in Japan. The area remains one of the best places to experience the atmosphere of old Tokyo.

After graduating from university, I have been in Sapporo for 16 years, Osaka for 4 years, Sendai for 2 years, and Tokyo for a total of 12 years. But now, I’m mainly guiding in the Tokyo area due to living here. I especially love Ueno, Asakusa, and Kawagoe. They are cities where you feel the history and are full of people’s kindness. Masa was amazing and was on time at our hotel and showed us how to use the underground trains and then took us to Meiji Jingu Shrine, Imperial Palace/East Garden, Asakusa, Tsukiji outer market, Tokyo Tower, Harajuku, and Shibuya. Masa was very informative about each stop and took lots of pictures for us. It was a big day but Masa was understanding that two 70 year old ladies needed to rest now and the.

Awesome Tokyo tour with Masa
My inclination is that: we can just figure this out on my own; we don’t need a guide. But my wife wanted to get one, and it worked out so well. Masa was so friendly and knowledgeable and attuned to our 16 year old son. We learned so much and had a much more rich experience than just “winging it”. Highly recommended!
