    Title: What's a Private Tokyo Tuna Auction Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were visitors from North America. After traveling to places such as Miyajima and Hakone, they came to Tokyo and joined a tuna auction tour. The guests were surprised at how quietly and solemnly the tuna auction proceeded. They said it was unbelievable that a single tuna was sold in about five seconds one after another. Today there were many tuna, so the auction was held simultaneously in three locations at once, and the guests came to understand and enjoy watching how each auctioneer competed with one another. At the sushi restaurant after the auction, they were deeply moved by the medium-fatty tuna (chutoro), remarking that it seemed to melt in their mouths. I explained that at this restaurant the head chef ages the tuna in the refrigerator overnight after cutting it before serving, and they were amazed by the skill of the sushi artisans. They were also very fond of the atmosphere of the Tsukiji Outer Market, and were delighted, saying, "This is the kind of scene I wanted to experience."

    A Private Kyoto Tour Including Arashiyama Bamboo Grove: What Is a Guide's Day Like? The guests were a group visiting from North America. Up until the day the tour actually took place, the booking details kept changing, and it was only after staying in close contact with the guests that we finally managed to make the tour happen. At one point it nearly ended in cancellation. As noted in the section regarding the time overrun, there was some trouble handling the ICOCA cards, and the day of the tour turned out to be far more hectic than expected. The guests were the type who wanted to take many photos rather than focus on the history of Kyoto. The tour ran considerably over the scheduled time, but in the end everyone was pleased, which was a relief. We took photos at the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. We were also helped by the fine weather. A notable stop on the tour was the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Located in the western part of Kyoto, the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove is one of the city's most iconic natural sights, known for its towering stalks of bamboo that form a striking green corridor. Visitors walk along paths that wind through the dense bamboo, where the light filters through the leaves and the wind creates a distinctive rustling sound. The surrounding Arashiyama district is also home to temples, gardens, and the scenic Katsura River, making it a popular destination throughout the year.

    What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Meiji Shrine, and Asakusa This was the second day of the guests' visit to Japan. In contrast to the summer-like heat of the previous day, it was a pleasant, comfortable temperature all day. The tour started at the Marunouchi side of the historic Tokyo Station building, and the route walking along Gyoko-dori Avenue toward the Imperial Palace was very well received. Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain two days prior, the Otemon Gate of the Imperial Palace was flooded and impassable, so we entered through the Hirakawamon Gate instead, but the guests were deeply impressed by the grand scale of Edo Castle. At Meiji Shrine, a light rain began to fall, but the guests thoroughly enjoyed the harmony between Shinto and nature, and purchased a good-luck charm for safe childbirth. After experiencing the liveliness of Senso-ji Temple and the Asakusa area, I saw the guests off at Shimbashi for their next plans, bringing the tour to a close. The guests were very knowledgeable about Japan, having watched works such as Shogun, Perfect Days, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, and Midnight Diner, so the conversation was lively and it was a very enjoyable tour.

    Title: What Is a Private Walking Tour of Takayama's Old Town and Sakurayama Hachimangu Like? A Licensed Guide's Report The guests were a group visiting from Europe. As there was some time before the bus departure, we did brief self-introductions and talked about their overall itinerary, Hida beef, and recent natural disasters in Japan. At the Miyagawa Morning Market, I provided information such as the market's operating season and the distance, and then the guests enjoyed it at their own pace. They took photos of the koi swimming in the river and showed interest in pickles and small taiyaki. At a kitchenware shop, they were curious about whether chopsticks come in separate types for men and women, and although not for today, they asked which sightseeing area I would recommend for buying a kitchen knife, so I asked about their upcoming destinations and suggested Kyoto. They also smiled at the food samples. On the way to the shrine, we passed in front of the Yoshijima Heritage House and went up to the entrance. They seemed interested, but I prioritized the original plan. In connection with the cedar ball (sugidama), I explained the sake brewing process. They also looked pleased at a nearby cat cafe. At Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, we took a group photo in front of the torii gate, and afterward the guests offered a prayer in front of the main hall. There was also a small pond with koi, and they were curious about how it is managed. At the Yatai Kaikan (Festival Float Exhibition Hall), they were impressed by the power of the floats. After I explained the festival season and the karakuri mechanisms, they thoroughly enjoyed the screening video as well. They also nodded with interest at the fifth wheel that helps the floats turn. At the Hidachikan, the facility's guidance was apparently only in Japanese, so I explained the positional relationship of Nikko Toshogu, the connection to the master craftsmen of Hida, and that it is a World Heritage site, and they seemed amazed by the high level of craftsmanship. On the way to the old townscape, we stopped by the Takayama Showa-kan. It was a slight challenge that they were not fully convinced by the explanation of it being a paid facility, but I felt they liked the atmosphere. We also stopped by a furniture shop. In the old townscape, they did not seem very interested in sake, and as I responded with this plan of simply strolling and stopping wherever caught their attention, I sensed the atmosphere became a little awkward, so I quickly guided them to the Jinya. At the Jinya, I responded using the basic English guidance in the facility. From the way they seemed to have finished viewing everything, I felt they understood it well. By the time we exited, it was already past 12:30, so I briefly showed them the location of the bus stop to return to the Hotel, the area for lunch, and other sightseeing spots, and we parted ways. In the end, we were able to say goodbye with smiles. Note: Throughout the tour, the guests were very interested in Japanese culture and history. Looking back, I regret a little that we did not walk through the preservation district of the old townscape. There were also many questions such as "What is that?", but I think I managed to handle them.

    Title: What Is a Rainy-Day Private Tokyo Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine and Senso-ji The guests were visitors from North America, and this was their first sightseeing visit to Japan, though one of them had been to Japan before. Late last night, they contacted me via a messaging app to let me know that their arrival had been delayed by nearly a full day due to a typhoon. I mentioned that the city had also experienced severe typhoon weather two days earlier, so the timing may actually have worked out for the better. They planned to stay in Tokyo and then set out on a cruise around various parts of Japan starting in November. Their upcoming days were packed with activities such as Mount Fuji, a food tour, and a sumo show. Today, unfortunately, a light rain continued from the morning, but we made our way through the itinerary using rain gear. Since one of the guests preferred to walk a little more slowly, I paid attention to keeping a comfortable pace. As the cruise was coming up, they did not do any particular shopping. However, after receiving a goshuin (shrine seal) at Meiji Shrine, they also obtained one at Senso-ji Temple, and said they were looking forward to visiting more temples and shrines ahead. A notable stop on the tour was Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. Visitors approach the main hall through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) with its massive red lantern, followed by the lively Nakamise shopping street lined with traditional snack and souvenir stalls. It remains one of the most visited and culturally significant sites in the city.

    Travelling along the JR central line where guests can stopover at major animation studios (it is not accepted to visit the inside). The majority of animation studios such as TMS Entertainment, SUNRISE, A1 Pictures etc. are located in this area. Suginami Animation museum, Studio Ghibli and Ghibli Museum are also located.
    Guests can feel old houses in the Spirited Away scene in the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum.

    I can also provide a pilgrimage to the sacred place (shooting location) for the Shinkai Makoto animation movies such as Your name, Weathering with you, and Suzume.

    Another interesting feature is to visit authentic Japanese style pub meals such as Yakitori, Karaage, and Sushi etc.
    Asakusa Hoppy Street, Ameyoko Street, Yurakucho, Shimbashi, Shinjuku Golden gai, Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho are nice to visit.

    A Sake tasting at Sake Cellar can be an option.

    In addition to the above, I am available in the neighboring cities.

    Kawagoe is an old town developed in the 17th century. It has very close relationship with the Edo central government. Kawagoe castle ruins, Kitain temple and 500 Buddha statues will welcome the guests.
    These areas are renovated and provide an old days atmosphere.
    Japanese style sweets food stands will fascinate the guests.
    Kawagoe is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Kamakura is the first Samurai worriers government established in the late 12th century.
    The Buddhism are introduced to Japan in the 6th century, and flourished at Nara and Kyoto later. A newer Buddhism sect such as Zen has well developed at Kamakura area.
    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Gigantic Buddha statue at Kotokuin Temple and the flower temple Hasedera Temple are must-see.
    Kamakura is about 1 – 1.5 train trip from Tokyo.

    Title: What Is a Private Day Tour of Kanazawa Like? A Licensed Guide's Report Body: The guests were a family visiting from North America. They had been to Japan several times before, but it was their first visit to Kanazawa. As it was a fine day at the end of a national holiday period, the city was quite crowded. The tour started from the Hotel, and it was a typical course efficiently covering the main sightseeing spots starting from Kanazawa Castle. I was able to give detailed explanations at each sightseeing spot at a relaxed pace. Although the plan was to finish in the Nagamachi Samurai District area after running slightly over time, the guests seemed to become even more interested, so in the end I guided them all the way to the front of Oyama Shrine before concluding the tour. A notable stop on the tour was Kanazawa Castle. Kanazawa Castle was the seat of the powerful Maeda clan, who ruled the region during the Edo period. Known for its distinctive white lead roof tiles and impressive stone walls, the castle grounds feature beautifully reconstructed turrets and gates. Adjacent to the castle lies Kenrokuen, considered one of the three most beautiful landscape gardens in Japan, making the area a highlight of any visit to Kanazawa.

    Title: What Does a Full-Day Private Tokyo Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report on Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and Asakusa The guests were a group from Oceania who had arrived in Japan the previous day. First, I assisted with the purchase of a SUICA card at Shiomi Station. After entering Shinjuku Gyoen, I explained the origins of the garden. Although it began to rain, the guests enjoyed strolling through the Japanese garden. While resting at a teahouse and drinking matcha, I explained an overview of Japanese history and the differences between shrines and temples. After leaving the garden, we moved to Meiji Shrine, where I explained the origins of the shrine in front of the Harajuku Gate. As we walked along the approach, I explained the sake barrels, the large torii gate, and the masugata layout. After the visit, we took the JR line to the area in front of Shibuya Station, took photos in front of the Hachiko statue and at the scramble crossing, and then had lunch at a tonkatsu restaurant, which was very well received. We took the subway to Asakusa, where I first explained the history of Asakusa and the main buildings from the rooftop of the culture and tourism center. We then proceeded to Kaminarimon, Nakamise, and the five-story pagoda, and paid our respects at the main hall. In the Rokku area, we took a break at a cafe and ended the tour. Although it rained almost all day, we were able to visit all the planned locations, and the guests seemed satisfied.

Since the guests wished to have a reserved bullet train seat for their return to Osaka after the tour, I purchased the ticket for that before the tour began. During the tour, we visited the Castle View spot and Himeji Castle, including the Nishinomaru Hyakken Corridor and the Main Keep. As the guests wished, we took a short break at a tea house. The guests said the almond toast they had here was delicious. After that, we visited Koko-en Garden and returned to Himeji Station, where the tour concluded. It was a slightly hot day. The guests, coming from North America, seemed to feel the heat especially. Even so, they were very pleased, saying both Himeji Castle and Koko-en Garden were "very beautiful." The digital ticket purchased in advance came with coupons that could be used during the tour, which was also a nice bonus. In conclusion, the guests were very happy with today's tour. A notable stop on the tour was Himeji Castle. Himeji Castle is one of Japan's most famous and best-preserved feudal castles, and it is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Often called the "White Heron Castle" for its elegant white exterior, it dates back to the early 17th century and features a sophisticated network of defensive structures. The nearby Koko-en Garden is a beautifully landscaped Japanese garden complex laid out on the former site of samurai residences, offering seasonal scenery and traditional design.

We met safely at their accommodation and set off by private car. It was a pleasant clear blue sky after the passing of a typhoon. The guests asked, "Can we go somewhere with a view of Mount Fuji?" Originally, we had planned to start at Meiji Shrine, but thinking the view might be better a little earlier in the morning, we decided to go to Tokyo Tower first. Unfortunately, we could not see Mount Fuji, but the guests still had an enjoyable time. At Meiji Shrine, they were soothed by the quiet forest, and we were even lucky enough to see a wedding ceremony. At the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, everyone was delighted. The next day was a free day, and the guests had mentioned they wanted to go shopping, so in response to their request I also gave guidance on places such as Ginza (Uniqlo) and Tokyo Dome (Giants merchandise). Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple, founded in the 7th century, and is dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy. Visitors approach the main hall through the iconic Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) with its enormous red lantern, followed by the lively Nakamise shopping street lined with traditional shops and snacks. Drawing omikuji fortune slips is a popular custom at the temple, and the area remains one of the most visited cultural landmarks in Tokyo.

    Title: What Can You See on a Private Tokyo Day Tour Around Atago Shrine and Hamarikyu? A Licensed Guide's Report I guided a group visiting from North America. Some of the guests had a connection to a university in Yokohama and planned to sightsee in Tokyo and Kyoto during the trip. They happened to have to travel on the day of a typhoon, when the trains stopped and they had to take detours, which was quite an ordeal. They had researched places to visit using an AI chat tool, so I planned the itinerary accordingly. Since Atago Shrine, located next to the Hotel, was holding its festival that takes place once every two years, we added it to the itinerary. We were also able to see the mikoshi (portable shrines) that had been prepared. They climbed the "Steps of Success" with ease and listened with great interest to my explanations about Shinto and related topics. Throughout the tour, they asked about everything they were curious about. At Azabudai Hills, I introduced teamLab and we visited an upscale supermarket and the gardens. We only viewed Tokyo Tower from outside and then stopped by Zojoji Temple, where a first-visit blessing ceremony happened to be taking place. I mistook the subway station and we ended up at Onarimon, so I apologized and we headed to Daimon. The guests were cheerful throughout and did not mind walking, which was a great help, but I reflected that I need to be more careful. Contrary to the forecast, it rained heavily, and Hamarikyu was quite muddy. On the way back, before returning to the Hotel, they said they wanted to have a casual meal, so I took them to the Karasumori exit side of Shimbashi, where the tour concluded. A notable stop on the tour was Hamarikyu Gardens. Hamarikyu Gardens is a spacious traditional Japanese landscape garden located near Tokyo Bay, featuring a large tidal pond whose water level changes with the sea. Once used as a duck-hunting ground and retreat for the ruling Tokugawa family, it now offers a peaceful contrast between historic garden design and the modern skyscrapers surrounding it, along with a teahouse where visitors can enjoy matcha.
